The Soccer Player and the Single Mom is a stand alone sweet romance by Kyra Jacobs. I have read Kyra’s Paranormal series and even though she has several published contemporary romances, I haven’t read any of them yet. I don’t know why because I love her writing style. She has such a way of drawing in the reader and making us fall in love with her characters. Which is exactly what I did with this book!

Wildly entertaining! A bucket full of sass from a single Mom, a grumpy soccer player, a feisty Grandma and her dog and a young son make this book one that you just cannot put down!

This is another brilliant, enthralling contemporary romance from this talented author. Her stories are always heartwarming and written with a sense of humour that brings a smile to my face - and this is no exception - I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Felicity Shaw is a feisty, single Mum who is bringing up her son alone after the untimely death of her husband. She's moved back into her home town to be nearer to her best friend and never dreamt that taking her son for a visit to the doctor would e

This is a fun and charming sports romance, and it also deals with a couple of issues which rarely get addressed in this category, the most significant one being professional sportsmen dealing with serious injuries and the rehab from such, and players ‘aging out’ and facing the end of their careers. There’s a refreshing trope flip where, for once, it’s the HERO who has to make a significant life change in order to make the relationship work - too often I see heroines giving up their dreams for lu ...more

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
3.5 stars.
This was very amusing to read, with relatable characters. I found myself laughing or smiling with Kyra Jacobs’ humor and how hero and heroine embark in what they think is an innocent fling, without knowing they’re already too involved. The instant attraction really worked well for me in this case, the author wrote it in a rather convincing way.

3.5 stars. This is the first book that I've read from Kyra Jacobs and I can happily say that I am a fan of her work now. I found this book to be amusing and entertaining to read. Scott might be out and not playing soccer at the moment due to his injury but that does not mean he needs an assistant...well according to him. Felicity might not want to be the personal assistant to Scott but when she loses her job and her apartment catches on fire she has no other option to accept the job. Felicity an ...more

This was a good read. The usual determined athlete bent on making all the dreams he thought were important coming true, meets the down on her luck single mom with the very loveable little kid. The banter was interesting & the sarcasm strong, the chemistry hot enough to start a fire. Add in the ever unflappable grandmother who even though she says she’s not impressed with his choice of career still knows more about it than she lets on & the agent who you love to hate makes this a wonderfu ...more

This book was not bad overall, but it just wasn't engaging. I tried to enjoy it, but nothing could compel me to keep reading except sheer determination.

The characters seemed to show unreasonable dissatisfaction with the things that faced them - Scott didn't want an assistant? Just deal with it. Felicity complains her new boss is giving her unnecessary tasks? It's still part of her job.

I think my biggest issue was a scene early on where Felicity turns up to work and Scott.... thinks about her pi

Felicity and Scott’s love story in The Soccer Player and the Single Mom by Kyra Jacobs was truly a fun and enjoyable read. While at the pediatrician’s single mom Felicity Shaw steps in for a missing receptionist while seeing on the news that the company she worked shut their doors without a single notice. Soccer player Scott Gillie is visiting his friend and former teammate hoping for reprieve from his manager, his grandmother, and the okay on his injured knee to return to the sport he loved. It's easy to dismiss this book just by looking at the title - and I'm not going to lie, the cheesy title did take me a little while to get over. But once you do get past the title, this is actually a really lovely story, regardless of whether you like soccer/football (depending on where you're from) or not. With a swoon-y male lead who just happens to be a soccer player, and a feisty heroine who's just doing what she needs to support her son and her, as well as a fun grandma and adorable son, yo ...more

I can’t believe this is the first time for me to read Kyra Jacobs book. Clearly I’m way behind and need to catching up. “The Soccer Player and the Single Mom” is a lot of fun! The title might not sound so catchy nor conjure a novel scenario in my head, but the story is hopping with such cheer and vibrant characters that gave me the hoot from the start to finish.

Kyra Jacobs is a new author to me but that is about to change after reading the very entertaining The Soccer Player and the Single Mom because I loved getting to know the sassy mum and the very grumpy player.
Scott Gillie is a professional soccer player who is trying to get over an injury, he has come home to his grandma’s to recuperate and hopefully return to the game he loves. Scott’s agent believes the only quick way back is to employ a PA to take care of mundane issues so he can rest his knee

I had fun with THE SOCCER PLAYER AND THE SINGLE MOM. Felicity and Scott really do start out as a “what the heck is this couple doing together” feeling yet the chemistry is there from the start… everyone’s just ignoring it (like that helps at all). It’s also true that early on in this story Scott often comes off as a grown-up cry baby who isn’t getting his own way. I get that he doesn’t want to be out of the game, but an injury needs time to heal – even he has to ackn

I really enjoyed this story! Scott is a pro soccer star sidelined by an injury who’s come home for a second opinion. Just cause his high school buddy is a pediatrician doesn’t mean he doesn’t know his stuff! His agent hires an assistant to keep him from overdoing it & help him with PR events. Scott treats her like the arrogant pro athlete he is at the beginning. Then he begins to feel bad for it & act better.

I love Felicity!

Injured professional soccer player Scott Gillie moved back home to Quail Hollow to stay with his grandmother Edna while he healed from an injury. His agent hires widowed Felicity Shaw to be his assistant until he’s healed from injuring his knee because she needed a job after the factory she was working at closed suddenly.

Scott and Felicity made me laugh many times reading the story because Scott was a pain in the butt and his grandmother took no prisoners because she didn’t want

This book will pull at your heart from the beginning to end, emotional overload. Felicity seems to have the darkest cloud hanging over her head. Her husband has passed away and she is raising her 5 year old son by herself. If things couldn’t get any worse, she sees on the news her company is being shut down.
A chance encounter with Scott Gillie, and his agent JB, in the doctor’s office, may just be the break she needs. JB, sees there is potential in Felicity and offers her a position as Scott’s

Such a sweet romance!

There's a string of pretty big coincidences that bring Scott and Felicity into the same circles, but once they are they're darn cute together. Scott's grandmother is a hoot, and Felicity's son Tyler is adorable--together with the hero and heroine they make this a fun story to read. The would-be steamier scenes are fade to black, though there are some toe-curling kisses on the page. Scott grows up nicely during the course of the

The Soccer Player and the Single Mom is a sweet story that I enjoyed from start to finish. Felicity is a single mom just trying to do the best she can for her son. Sometimes though, the best doesn't seem like enough. Scott is a soccer player and that is the most important thing in his life. When about gets injured, the last thing he needs or wants is a personal assistant. Felicity needs the job too much to let Scott get in her way. The longer these two are around each other the stronger their co ...more

I must admit that the cover of this book really didn’t draw me in, but as a lover of sports romance, I decided to give it a go. I’m happy that I did, as the story was fun, easy to follow, and kept me interested. I really liked the banter between the characters, and Felicity’s mum and son, really added some fun moments to the book. But naturally not all can go smoothly, and witnessing the angst that was their working relationship, and their trying to navigate the taboo of that dilemma, was defini ...more
