Rate this book
The world could be transformed if Riley can only stay alive long enough.

Most parents leave you a house, a car, or money when they die. Riley’s mom left her a treasure hunt with a mysterious payoff. Now everyone seems to want a piece of Riley and her inheritance: the university, the military, mega corporations, and Russian spies.

Riley needs help to solve her mother’s murder, and Dagger Easton’s salvage and investigation company comes to her rescue. Retired SEAL, private eye, and leader of a diving and salvage team, Dagger promises to protect Riley with his life. But as the value of her mother’s research becomes clear, Riley begins to believe there’s no one she can trust—not with her life, her heart, or her mother’s legacy.

I won a kindle edition of this novel in a Goodreads Giveaway. I have found a new author that I really enjoy reading.

Salvaging Truth is a romantic suspense story. The suspense part of the story drives the plot and the romance just adds to this dramatic, action-packed book. The pacing is great. The plot focuses on Riley Rawlings, who gets a call in the middle of the night from her mother who is on a research vessel that is sinking, but only gets to listen to the voice mail, and the three partners in Hunters & Seekers, a salvage and private investigation firm. Riley needs help to determine what actually happened to the ship and its passengers.

So what does this story entail? A sunken ship, murder, deceit, diving, family, friendship, a secret formula, spies, a scavenger hunt, romance, corrupt individuals in government, military and corporations and so much more. Riley and the team at Hunters & Seekers are strong, intelligent, engaging, self-confident and extremely likeable characters.

This book was enjoyable to read with lots of twists, turns and danger that kept me reading well into the night. I look forward to reading more of Joanne Jaytanie's books.

SALVAGING TRUTH (Hunters & Seekers Book 1) by Joanne Jaytanie is the exciting start of a new romantic suspense series. The books revolve around a salvage and investigation company called Hunters & Seekers run by three ex-SEAL friends.

Dagger Eastin, Kaleb LaSalle and Stone Garrison are partners and friends who run Hunters & Seekers. As ex-SEALs, they all have a love of the sea and have found the perfect way to carry on in the private sector while still getting that punch of adrenaline they all still seek by being private investigators.

Riley Rawlings is in shock as she listens to her mother’s message on her phone. The research vessel Claudia is on is sinking. Riley does not know exactly what her mother was working on when she died, but it was going to change the balance of power in the energy business world. Riley was left clues by her mother to follow in a scavenger hunt to retrieve her research and get it into the right hands.

Riley needs help solving her mother’s murder and someone watching her back as she follows the clues to her mother’s research. It seems everyone wants Claudia’s research and are willing to kill to get it. Riley and Daggar have to deal with universities, the military, energy corporations and Russian spies. Daggar has Riley’s back as they follow the clues, but can Riley trust him with more?

I really enjoyed the whole premise of this story and the execution. Ms. Jaytaine’s writing was easy-to- read and the scavenger hunt kept me turning the pages. Riley was an intelligent heroine with an interesting career. Daggar was the strong ex-SEAL hero. I had a little difficulty with the romance because for me it felt forced. The author gave reasons for the back and forth, but for me, it was not really believable if he cared for her so much, but the suspense plot in the book more than made up for the weakness in the romance. Kaleb and Stone are strong characters in this story and I am looking forward to reading about future adventures featuring each.

I can highly recommend this first book in this series and I am looking forward to reading more.

Dr Riley Rawlings is a marine biologist , just like her mother. They are both highly respected in the field. A missed call in the middle of the night sends Riley into a full scale panic. She simply cannot sit back and wait for the authorities to tell her what's happening. She will need all her courage , intelligence and a lot of help to find the answers she needs.
Dagger Eastin is one of three ex-SEALs that own a sea-salvage and investigation company. They put all the training they gained in the service to find answers for the people who hire them.
There are a lot of players in this problem and it's very difficult to know who is telling the truth. Money looks to be at the root of it, but with so many possible bad guys out there the danger can come from anywhere.
A great romantic suspense that keeps us on the edge of our seats all the way through. We don't know who is the biggest villain until our author tells us, it's fun to try and guess though.
It is the first in a series and I can't wait to read the rest.
I loved it.

Welcome to Hunters & Seekers a salvage company run by three hot men . Kaleb , Dagger and Stone . When Riley comes to ask for help in finding out what happened to her mother's ship . What starts off as a simple salvage ends up a no holds barred scavenger hunt and keeping Riley alive until they find out what the heck is going on, this is one inheritance that is wanted by the military , mega corporations and the Russians .
I truly enjoyed this story and the characters are very well written , you can't help fall in love with them . Dagger Easton is well lets just say he is a dreamy sexy ex marine . Who is strong but also a sweet guy . But he is also a guy who is tormented with something that has happened in his past that has now come back to haunt him . Riley is a strong woman but she also kind of has a little sass about her at the beginning of the book . As she goes along with the scavenger hunt you see her open up and start living . She is such a great character to read . Kaleb and Stone are so much fun to read . They seem like the brothers that you always wanted but you don't get . They are fun loving but also will kick anyone's butt if they deserve it . There are evil people that you really don't know if you should trust or not . They all seem to be after them .
The story is such a sweet read. The characters are well written and you will fall in love with them. I sat down and started this book in the afternoon and i couldn't put it down . The twists and turns had me hooked from the very first page . The story is really interesting and I loved the whole mystery around a disappearance . There were a couple of times i was on the edge of my seat hoping that the main characters wouldn't get into any more trouble . I mean they are getting shot at and it seems they are always getting hit in the head . There were a couple of time i felt the book dragged just a little but over all i really enjoyed this book . I will say that out of all the books i have read by this author this one is the best of them . The author has mixed suspense, murder and romance that will keep you reading well into the night .

Suspense Mystery Action Drama

Joanne Jaytanie certainly knows how to pack a punch when she writes a book. Not leaving anything out, this book is jam packed full of suspense, mystery, action, drama and of course some romance. This book was so intriguing that i was unable to put it down. twists and turns, secrets and lies make it all very difficult to track down the truth.

Riley Rawlings, marine biologist, is on a hunt to find out what happened to her mother, who she believes was murdered. she enlists the help of dagger Easton's salvage and investigation company, Hunters & Seekers. Their hunt turns into a quest to help keep Riley alive.

This is such a good read. Ms Jaytanie's writing is flawless, brilliantly descriptive and flows at a fast steady pace. all of her characters are strong and very realistic. Dagger is a hot ex-marine whose past has come back to haunt him. Riley is a strong woman who is more than capable of standing up for herself. The secondary characters of Kaleb and Stone are extremely likeable and bring a bit of fun to the story.

An excellent read that I would happily recommend. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I've previously read a romantic suspense by Joanne Jaytanie and really enjoyed reading it. So it came as no surprise that I just absolutely fell in love with this story.

In order to solve the mystery behind her mother's death, Riley must go on a scavenger hunt to discover all the clues left behind and the reasons behind her mother's death. But this scavenger hunt isn't without it's own dangers to Riley and Dagger. There's someone behind the attempts to scare Riley and their determined to obtain the secrets Riley is unfolding.

I absolutely adored these characters. Riley is an independent woman, but she's not so independent that she stupidly would put herself in harm. She's also one who fights and does whatever it takes to protect those she loves.
Dagger is an retired SEAL who is now doing what he loves with his "brothers". He's loyal and protective but not restrictive toward letting Riley help solve the mystery.

It had been a minute since I had read something from this author but it was worth the wait. The finesse of the writing right away whisks you away into this one. The intrigue that surrounds Riley will right off pull your thinker on the curiosity combined thanks to the shroud that will surround this one. Not discounting Dagger's place in this with him also being a picture that makes a drool escape and being a retired Seal is a plus too. This will be a big picture on trust because fear can be a liar and make you doubt many things. The exhilaration in this one pulls you at times with the peeling away of it like a onion makes for dynamite answers and having you wanting more by the end being happy this is only no. one.

Suspenseful and dramatic from beginning to end. Sifting through and finding truth seems nearly impossible. Very believable scenario with greed of corporate agenda's in our modern world.

This, by far, is Ms. Jaytanie's best work to date. It reads like an episode of NCIS or your favorite crime show. She weaves magic through her characters into a story that unfolds and draws you in to the very middle of the crises. You walk beside Dagger and Riley as they seek to solve a mystery of clues left by her mother that hinge on the success of her scientific research. If you are into crime, mystery, suspense and a wee bit of romance, this book is for you. I highly recommend it.

Marvelous book just wonderful read

This book has everything to make you stay involved and captivated while reading. The suspense, the thrills, the excitement and curiosity, the love on multiple levels is amazing. Such a well written piece of work I am anxious to read the next book and see what adventure awaits and where the characters lives lead them. Riley and Dagger , Claudia and Henry and the happily ever after awaiting Hunters and Seekers as well with the fourth member can't wait for more.

Love and family concur all

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I particularly liked the connection that family plays in searching for the ultimate answers. Nice to have strong male presence in truly nice people. The ocean is always a draw for me and the hope that we really might find alternate fuel sources, while respecting our environment is more than a dream, it is a hope. Thank you for once again holding my interest and keeping my attention throughout. I think I missed having a dog as part of the story.😉

I have owned a copy of this book since it came out but for some reason just put in on the back-burner that I planned to get to "sometime". Well, now is that sometime and I wished that I had picked it up sooner because this was just what I needed! The romantic suspense genre is moving up on my list of favorite genres, there is nothing like the action and danger to make you excited and the romances to keep you invested. Salvaging Truth was a perfect example of why I love this genre, with it's non-stop danger and crazy plot twists as well as a ton of possible suspects to keep me guessing and likable characters I wanted to see have a HEA- almost like the adventure/puzzling of the movie National Treasure meets the romance and danger of the movie Speed, but in a wonderful book format.

I loved the slow burn romantic relationship that the author created, it made it seem ever more real, no insta-love here. There was no real physical contact or declaring of feelings until right at the end, like 92% into the book. Dagger was hired to help Riley which in turn meant giving her protection from all the danger that her life turned into- and there was some emotional comfort thrown in there for free. He went from being an employee to safety to a friend to a romantic interest and I loved watching all the steps. There were plenty of times I wanted to shake Dagger for his choices and secrets, but I didn't need to since his two besties/partners were there to call him out on it. Speaking of Dagger's partners, I loved both of those guys so much! They were the strong helpful protectors as well as the much needed comic relief, and their relationships with Riley were adorable.

My biggest complaint about the book was sometimes it seemed like the characters were about to have a big important talk or maybe have a moment at the end of a chapter and then next thing you know it was three days later and everything was resolved- for the characters but not for me. I felt like sometimes I was just left hanging (when it came to the emotional aspect of the story and the relationship dynamic, not the overall mystery/suspense part). Oh and the double wedding- in my judgy opinion, was a little too much, just saying.

Overall I found Salvaging Truth to be an engaging, fast paced romantic suspense and I really really hope there will be at least two more books set in this world so Kaleb and Stone can find love too since they were such great guys. I highly recommend this story to anyone who likes adventure, puzzles, twists, danger and a slow burn romance.

Sunken Ship
Riley is awaken in the middle of the night with a phone call from her mom, she misses the call and is totally devastated when she realizes it is the last time she will ever hear her mother’s voice.
Riley’s mom Claudia is a the lead scientist on the Sheridan vessel in the sea. The ship has been sunken and there are no survivors. The only thing Riley has left is the broken voice message she last received, before her mother vanishes. Riley has made every attempt possible to reach her mom’s boss Wayne. She feels she has given Wayne ample time to respond with answers about what happened to the ship, crew and her mom. When he fails to contact her she pays him a visit and that is when she meets Dagger. He is a member of the 3 man team that is responsible for recovering the sunken ship.
Immediately Dagger realizes this woman is a force to be reckoned with and she is determined to get answers if it means she had to obtain them herself. Riley realizes Dagger may be the help she needs, she hires him to help her get to the bottom of this situation and find her mother’s killer. Dagger knows she is on to something and him and his crew start working to get answers.
Riley’s mom has been doing some intense research on her own and they realize there are people after her secret for their own selfish gain. She has done a good job of hiding her findings and has left clues that only Riley can decipher to retrieve her hidden formula. It is very dangerous and Riley has a target on her back, Dagger and his team have upped the security and will stop at nothing to solve this mystery. Dagger feels like they are being watched and when a skeleton from his own past seems be a part of the enemies team it just complicates things more. Riley and Dagger are dealing with the feelings they are developing for each other and trying to make sure they don’t miss any important clues to the case along the way.
Can they actually have a romance when they are in so much danger and every time they turn around there is a new player in the game?
Joanne Jaytanie, will take you on an adventure full of secrecy, lies, betrayal and deceit. If you are looking for an action packed story you won’t be disappointed.

After reading the blurb I was feeling excited to read my first book by Joanne Jaytanie. The premises was wonderfully original and add in the military aspect of the Hero and I couldn't wait to dive in (pun quasi intended). I found Salvaging Truth different from other romantic suspense novels and not in a bad way.

I liked Riley. She was strong and smart and savvy. Even in the midst of the mystery and all the danger she found herself in, she wasn't immune to the charm of Dagger. Ohhhhh Dagger. A good man with the best of intentions where his work is concerned. There was no denying that he was attracted to Riley.

From start to finish, this book continued to build. As the danger increased, so did the stakes. With not just Riley's life on the line, Dagger had to take a few calculated risks. And even as more pieces of the twisted puzzle came together, things between Dagger and Riley got more muddled. Until it all clicked. Holy geez. Talk about a dark and devious.

I found my first venture into Joanne Jaytanie's writing enjoyable. I was invested in Riley and Dagger's plight and budding romance. But I wanted more romance. And considering everything that had happened to them, I found the ending to be a touch too cheesy. Nonetheless, my fingers are crossed to see where this series goes.

This book is AMAZING! Starts off action packed and stays that way! I found myself guessing a lot of what would happen next: would Riley really find a way to stay working with Hunters and Seekers crew? Would Dagger ever tell her the truth about Kat, and what really happened between them two how did he know know she was a sleeper agent. Would Kat really have something to do with it all in the end? The deaths and disappearances? And the big when would they find her mom and admit their love for each other??? Kept up up reading late at night after I got off work! It’s a you really don’t have a good stopping point to put it down you just wanna know how shot the spear gun, who did Neil really work with, what will Riley do now that she knows the mater mind behind it all, how will they get the proof needed?!? Now im trying to make guesses on the next book! 😂 double wedding we know but what will go wrong for these two brilliant women and the handy men? Hummm I’ll be waiting (impatiently of course). Thank you for such a GOOD read! I love every minute of it!!! 5 star all the way ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is my first book by Ms. Jaytanie and I simply fell in love with her writing style. Her flare for suspenseful dramatics combined very believable characters, grabbed me from the start.

We have 3 sexy alpha ex-Navy-Seals, Dagger, Kaleb and Stone, who have opened their own salvage hunters/PI company. They are contacted by the local Police Dept. to help with the investigating when a research vessel sinks killing all 19 people on board. This includes Riley’s mother who is the lead scientist researcher on board. While she doesn’t know exactly what her mother’s research entails, Riley knows her mother’s patterns and the way she thinks and is able to convince the guys she can help the investigation. Little do they know the dangers and threats that lay ahead.

The storyline is more that just a suspenseful crime investigation, it includes romance, corporate greed, military secrets, and so much more. The book will hold you in it’s grasp until the very end. I Highly Recommend this exciting read and give it 2 Thumbs Up and 5 stars!

I loved this book. It was well written and I didn't notice any grammatical errors, unlike so many other books I've read in the last year. It's a complete story, a true series. There was a firm conclusion that answered all the questions. The plot was twisty and fun. It kept me interested and reading. All in all, it was a great read and I'd love to read the next book in the series!

It's funny that I almost passed this book up but I am so glad I didn't. Not only did I get an amazing read I got a new author as well. This is an intense story that has plenty of action and intrigue. A very complicated twister that brings back some ugly past for one and unease for another. I love that this is a woman with a brain and some big balls ready to do what it takes to get to the bottom of things. The team is a well rounded group that keeps things like and funny but ready to kick butt and take prisoners when needed. It's a well developed story that keeps you intrigued til the end without much down time. I loved the characters and this new to me author's style. I will definitely be looking to read the rest of this series full of standalone reads and some guys I would love to see get their hea.

Salvaging Truth by Joanne Jaytanie is an adrenaline junkies dream. This book is full of suspenseful twists and turns and encompasses kidnapping, murder, theft and treachery at the highest government levels. Hunters and Seekers is a marine salvage company run by 3 ex Navy Seals. When Riley's moms research vessel goes down with 19 people on board she needs their help to discover what really happened. Sometimes truth and trust is hard to find and to give and Riley is having a really hard time believing the official report. Dagger Eastin finds trust hard to give as well. With a scavenger hunt full of clues Riley is just on step ahead of the bad guys.
You will love the adventure in the story and the character development is on point. The secondary characters give great depth to this tale and i hope to see them in books of their own.

Who are Riley and Claudia? What has happened and why? Who tells Claudia they need to go? I think I fell in love with Dagger, Kaleb, and Stone early on. Who is Henry Morrison and how does he know the other 5 people? WHile there was a bit of romance happening in the background, we had suspense and mystery happening in the foreground. I LOVED the story line. I look forward to the next book in the series because this was such a great read! I wish it was already here. Enjoy reading this book!

Overall I enjoyed this book. It has an intriguing plot and the protagonists are interesting and have chemistry together. There were a couple of things that made me roll my eyes such as Riley going off on her own after being expressly told not to or how Dagger kept a huge secret from Riley even though everyone around him telling him it was stupid. But these are both standard romance tropes so it is kind of par for the course. It is the first in the series it will be interesting to see what the next one holds.

Lots of action, adventure, and travel-all the locations are wonderfully described.
Great characters that I connected with, and I felt like I was right there with them.
Well developed plot with lots of twists. A very good mystery, with just a bit of clean romance.
I truly enjoyed reading this, and I will be looking for the next book in this series.

I am not sure why I did not like this book as much as all the other reviewers. There was a LOT of suspending disbelief for me. And I didn't bond with any of the characters. I did like the second half of the book better, so there's that at least.
