I am not okay.

Fifteen months ago, my life was turned upside down when the plane I was piloting went down. Injured and trapped in the wreckage, I had to watch my fiancée die a painfully slow death, which is something that can really mess with your head.

Since that day, I’ve had little desire to do much of anything. Except play hockey, that is. Because that is the one place where the bad memories are banished and I can escape my pain.

But off the ice, I’m spiraling out of control. Losing the grip on my life and putting myself and my career in danger. Now, thanks to a string of bad decisions, I’ve been ordered to complete therapy in order to stay on the team.

The problem? Nora Wayne, my beautiful and somewhat unconventional therapist. I can’t buy into the brand of happy clappy crap this woman is feeding me. What could she possibly understand about the type of loss that I’ve suffered? How does she know anything about finding happiness after losing the most important person in your life?

Turns out, I’ve got a lot to learn, and she’s just the person I need to break through those walls I’ve erected.

I am not okay.
But for the first time in a long time, I know that I will be.

”She turned on a fucking light in my darkroom. She’s the one who flipped the switch.”

It feels like it’s been an eternity’s worth of waiting to finally get Tacker Hall’s story. He’s the one Arizona Vengeance player that has intrigued me from the start. His life was turned upside down when he lost his beautiful fiancé in a plane crash. He was the pilot! In Tacker’s book, we learn just how deeply tortured he is and we finally find out what happened on that fateful night. No one has been able to break through his walls he put up and Tacker nearly ended it all during a drunk driving incident. Now he’s forced to seek therapy or be kicked off the team. Nora Wayne is a psychologist who uses unique therapy methods to help her patients. She’s the perfect therapist for Tacker because she too has suffered tremendous loss through nightmarish circumstances.

Tacker and Nora make the perfect couple and you can’t help but hope they have the happily ever after they both deserve. Their stories are equally horrific and heartbreaking. While I loved the characters, I felt like something was missing. The anticipation had built so much to get to Tacker’s story that I think my expectations were set too high. There was little angst which I’m used to getting in these books, and maybe that was missing because these two characters had suffered enough in their short lifetime. Overall, it was a very sweet and touching romance. Tacker and Nora's story will touch your hearts!

Here are my overall ratings:

Heroine: 4
Plot:
Angst: 4
Steam: 4
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4

5 Worth the Wait Stars
* * * * * Spoiler Free-Limited Time, ONLY 99 CENTS!!!
When pain and loss are so intense, how can you manage to believe things could ever be good again...For those of us who have been following the series, Tacker has been a serious part of the team and the progression. Since the series has used the same timeframe for each book, the desire to know more about Tacker has been building.

Sawyer Bennett is a master and with each teammate's story we have been led to this moment; we are primed and ready for Tacker's story and HEA.

Tacker has been carrying a very heavy load and on a significant calendar date causing blinding inner rage, he makes choices that lead him to his lowest point.
The team's owner gives Tacker's his "Come to Jesus Moment" when he lays down the law...presents a series of requirements Tacker has to obey in order to stay on the team. Most of them Tacker can do in his sleep, no problem. The most important one, though, is the hardest and will cause him the most pain, therapy.

Tacker knows he needs to do this because the only way he will be able to stay on the team and do what gives him a reason for being is skating.

There he can breathe...
There he can be the person he once was...
Without skating, Tacker has no escape...

So therapy it is...

Only the first therapist Tacker goes to is someone who seems more interested in impressing him about all the degrees he has than concerned about Tacker and why he is even there. Leaving the office, Tacker calls the owner and tells him, this guy sucks and please I need something or someone different, someone who will get who I am...

Nora Wayne is someone who at first glance seems like she has the world on a string and is shooting sunshine rays at everyone. She is a therapist who specializes in unconventional ways to get to the root of problems. She understands pain from personal experience and uses this insight with her clients. Her methods of using horses, the farm with all the physical work which needs doing, and the patience to see when to push or take another path with those she is treating are her strengths and gift.

She is a transplant from another country, arriving here in Arizona when she was twelve. Her adopted mom brought her here and the manager of the land, Raul, taught her how to ride and everything about the farm. She grew into a beautiful woman and now owns the farm with Raul being the closest thing she has to family.

Nora's purpose and joy are to help those overcome the demons they carry and allow them to see they can begin again, whether it is a disadvantaged youth who is closed off and never received open love to the Hockey player whose boss just made her a deal she couldn't refuse to work with him.

As Tacker introduces himself to Nora, he is going through the motions. He has to do therapy in order to skate. They both go to her office and right off the bat, Tacker is being a bit of an ass.

What else is new...

Nora sees where this is going and decides to handle it the best way she knows how...After realizing what a fool he was, Tacker and Nora make a schedule for his sessions. She tells him he will have to open up and it is the only way.

This story touches on real pain and loss of all types, especially guilt and rage. Tacker is not the only one who has experienced devastating loss and horror and because Nora shows him how to handle his issues...He starts to see a way to come back to the person he once was.

I loved this story.

It had heart. It had the answers I had been waiting for since the introduction of Tacker in this series. His journey was hard yet with the care and honesty from Nora, Tacker was able to open his mind to what he could have if he did the emotional work. We met him at his lowest point, saw the pain tear him up, and he almost didn't come back to be a real part of his team. With this journey with Nora, we are given the gift of their learning about each other and both of them take the necessary risks to love again.

In this story, both characters are equals in their passion for each other and in the way they communicate and share. They never seemed to have an imbalance of power between them.

Ms. Bennett had already planted the seed of her next story, Dominik, in Dax's book. It should be just as strong as this one.

Tacker brought all the feels to this series and I absolutely adored it. Tacker Hall is having a hard time dealing with the pain of losing his fiance in a plane crash. A plane that he was piloting and was then stuck in while his fiance died next to him. When his grief gets too out of control he's sent to therapy in the hopes that he'll learn how to cope and be able to love hockey again. And with the help of his therapist, Nora Wayne, he may even learn to love more than the game.

Tacker's pain was so heartbreaking to see in the previous books and it also made him a bit of a mystery since it was hard to tell what was under all of that grief. So I was really excited to get my hands on this story and finally meet the Tacker that wasn't overcome by his sadness and determined to push people away. Well let me just say, it was well worth the wait and I loved him.

He and Nora's relationship was slow moving and didn't actually develop into something more until later in the book than I usually like. But it worked for them and made sense to their story so I enjoyed that we got to see Nora helping and befriending Tacker before there was more of a romance. They also had almost no angsty moments and I appreciated that there wasn't any drama coming between them and hurting all the progress that Tacker had made in moving on. That's not to say that they didn't have a very enjoyable romance though. I loved them together and Nora was an amazing and likable heroine.

Overall, this is a must read and I definitely recommend it. Tacker has been in the previous books but you can read this one as a standalone with no problem.

Favorite Quotes:

“You hurt her, and I will kill you. Even though I like you, I will kill you very dead. Take your body out in the desert and dump it. No one will find you.” I don’t laugh. He’s quite serious, and I respect him for it. “I’ll do my best.”

“Just be quiet,” I snap. “Or I’m going to call MaryBeth Henson to come and watch over you this afternoon while I go feed the horses.” A slight tinge of fear seeps into Raul’s expression. She showed up yesterday with a bag of knitting, then promptly sat in one of the other guest chairs and glared at Raul the entire time, almost daring him to get sicker.

My Review:

This story was a heart-squeezer with both main characters having suffered devastating losses, and also dealt with heavy issues and concerns with thoughtful insights and perception. While the emotional tone was often angsty and melancholy, clever hits of humor and bone-melting sensual steam restored the balance and kept the story from being maudlin. Written in my favorite dual POV, the storylines were relevant, well-paced, observantly detailed, and featured likable and endearing characters. I appreciated the comradery, compassion, and the considerate and supportive nature of the relationships between all the characters.

Alright, the story of Tacker. The most dramatic and tragic of the hero in this series. I like this book better than the previous one. The journey of Tacker finding his own forgiveness and acceptance ( the first of 50%) of this book,is really touching.

It packs with words of wisdom. I like Nora who plays the fierce therapist for Tacker. She really brings the sunshine into Tacker 's life again. However the second half of the story, where they embark into the romance, i lost bit interest. There is too much insta lust/love going on. And i do not like how Nora suddenly turns into needy heroine.
Heck, i can not even feel that Nora actually like Tacker.

Despite the shortcoming of this book, i still enjoy it very much. Especially the words of wisdom on the first half of this book.

Sawyer Bennett continues her energetic and captivating Arizona Vengeance series with this tale of angry, broken Tacker Hall, NHL star, and Nora Wayne, the woman who helped him find happiness again.

Tacker has been a lost character in previous novels because of the guilt and sadness caused when the plane he was piloting crashed and slowly killed his fiancée. Hockey has been his only solace, but outside it his poor decisions have put his career in danger and now he’s been order to get professional help or be booted off the team.

His therapist, Nora Wayne although beautiful, is a tad unusual and spouts sunshine and optimism he can’t possibly believe in after such a tragic loss. He thought it would be impossible for anyone who had suffered like him would find happiness, but after getting to know her a bit he realizes she’ll be able to get through to him and as they both continue to spend time together, they cannot deny the deeper than normal connection between a patient and therapist nor the irresistible desire they have for one another.

Sawyer Bennett offers a beautifully touching, sweet and sexy story – completely different from the rest in the series – about a man whose grief and anger have led him on a self-destructive path, and even though Nora has survived an even greater tragedy it is her optimism that shines in the novel. She is a confident, kind, strong and resilient heroine who is determined to live life to its fullest and it’s her brilliance that captivates and motivates Tacker whose true self shines with Nora’s help, showing a thoughtful, giving and caring hero.

I loved how Sawyer thoughtfully undertakes a heavy subject like grief and aids her characters towards finding light and meaning after a terrible loss and unnecessary guilt. With Nora and Tacker, Bennett gives her readers two worthy characters whose story is as engaging as it is touching and uplifting. She also introduces Aaron Wylde, who along with the rest of the first line of the Arizona Vengeance help Tacker in his journey. I loved spending time with them and I CAN’T WAIT to read the next books in the series.

Tacker is book #5 of the Arizona Vengeance series by Sawyer Bennett. It’s a lightly forbidden romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Audiobook Review
Overall 4 stars
Performance 4 stars
Story 4 stars

Listening to the audiobook of Tacker definitely heightened the emotions and experience for me. Stephen Dexter was wonderful as gruff and closed off Tacker. His deep voice was a great fit and I found both his male and female voices enjoyable. Lucy Rivers complemented Stephen Dexter's narration well, but I did find her a little monotone/robotic at times. Overall, a terrific listen and a fantastic way to enjoy Tacker's story.

*****
I have been waiting for Tacker's story since meeting him at the start of the Arizona Vengeance series. His heartbreaking story and downward spiral after MJ's death had me anxiously awaiting the day when he would finally get his own happy ever after. Sawyer Bennett did not disappoint and Tacker was just as emotional as I knew it would be. Though this is book 5 in the series, it can be read as a standalone. Characters from the previous books do appear, however, and the book would be best enjoyed if read in order.

Death of a spouse or loved one is always a difficult trope for me to get behind. I often have a hard time believing in the new love connection since had that not happened, our character would be happily married/in love. Sawyer Bennett did a wonderful job of making this work in Tacker, however, and it was easy to root for Tacker to find love again. Tacker and Nora's evolving relationship isn't without its issues and ethical concerns, but I did feel that they made a genuine connection that healed both of them. There isn't any unnecessary OW/OM drama and I loved that the story focused on healing and learning to live again. The tension and build up was amazing and the sexy times were off the charts HOT! I lost count of all the times Tacker made me swoon. Even when a deflating air mattress tries to create an obstacle, Tacker makes it clear (in the sexiest way) that he doesn't need any of that to get the job done.

description

I loved catching up with all the previous couples in the series and there were two awesome updates that left me smiling ear to ear for Erik, Blue, Legend, and Pepper. The book adds more fuel to the fire for team owner Dominik and Willow's book and also introduces us to Tacker's BFF, Aaron Wylde, who will also be getting his own book. Tacker is sure to be a hit with fans of the Arizona Vengeance series!

Tacker Hall plays professional hockey for the expansion team the Arizona Vengeance in Phoenix, Arizona. Fifteen months ago his entire life was thrown upside down when he was in a plane crash, and lost his fiancé. Now he’s just struggling to get by, and doesn’t really care about anything other than hockey. Being on the ice was the only thing that momentarily cleared his head. Tired of suffering from nightmares, and drowning in pain, he makes a mistake that could cost him his career. He’s considered a risk, and was temporarily suspended. As one of the league’s star players, they need him back on the ice. He’s given an ultimatum, and to keep his job, he has to do grief counseling. If he didn’t work on his emotional healing, he would be let go. It was time to confront his demons, or his hockey career was over.

He doesn’t want to let his teammates down, and wants to stay on the team. He has problems opening up, and this will be extremely difficult for him, but he has to try. He meets Nora Wayne, a therapist who is genuine and takes her job healing people seriously. She’s compassionate, and just what he needs. Soon she gives him hope that he can maybe one day be okay. Her unconventional techniques work for him, and soon he wonders if he will get another chance at happiness?

We've been waiting to hear his story since we first met him in book #1. But he had a lot of grieving and healing left to do. He still has. Which is how he finds himself at an Equine Therapy Ranch! LOL!

Nora - the ranch's owner - has a dark past of her own.
But she is now a über-happy person trying to help others - Tacker has a long way to go until he can forgive himself for what he thinks was his fault ... can she help him???

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO TACKER & NORA??
WiLL THERE BE A HAPPiLY EVER AFTER?

FINALLY TACKER'S BOOK!!!

Ugh, I feel like we've been waiting years for this!

And it was adorable and heartbreaking!

I love that we don't get millions of back-in-time moments to make us fall in love with MJ. We just get a few little scenes. We need to fall in love with Nora - which we do. She's so happy and positive and just what Tacker needs.

It takes them a while to get together - she's his therapist after all!

But we enjoy every moment of their story.

Adorable horse moments, funny hockey player moments. Heartbreaking therapy moments. Sparky moments.

It was a very sweet and cute hockey-horse love story.

I can't wait to get Wylde and Dominik's books next!

I didn't like the parts where they were praying and talking/thinking about faith and god and whatnot - you can grieve without being religious. I just hate religion in my books, but it wasn't mega bad here - but it was in here so I need to mention it.

Another little thing about the story... I was expecting a tiny bit more. Something a bit more ... spectacular? More ... epic. We were waiting for Tacker's story for so long and it was a bit slow and tame. It was totally okay the way it was - he's not the type for explosive excitement, but a tiny little bit more of .. something would've made his story amazing!

TACKER was an sweet & heartbreaking hockey-horse love story!
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Tacker - this one is MINE!!!!!

This is more of therapy book than romance. H/h have 0 chemistry.

She is his therapist. As a professional, she has failed in setting boundaries.

Even when the H needed time before having sex she got condoms and went to visit him? No.

I have read a lot of taboo romance but this felt completely off.

Maybe because i am a Behavioral Analyst, so this might simply be a case of "it's me not the book".

Also, the ending felt rushed. No epilogue, just a hospital scene.

One star is for the back story. I'm hoping Dominic and Willow's story will be better.

Heart-hitting romance...

I have been waiting impatiently (I admit it) for Tacker’s story since he was introduced to the Vengeance hockey family. The short glimpses of him painted a picture of a man in pain, lost in grief…

Tacker had pulled away from everyone and everything. He had to face his loss, his past, or his future was very much in jeopardy. Hearing his voice, feeling his pain, meant I felt everything right along with him as he worked hard to get it together. Nora came into his life at precisely the right moment….

And Nora? Well, she was the right words, the healing touch, he needed to put it all in perspective. It was okay to hurt and still live... And Tacker, well, he was everything she didn’t realize she was missing…

This one-sitting read had me glued to the pages, smiling, misty and even laughing as Tacker and Nora reminded me that life was full of pain but also sweet love and hope… So, so good! ~Diane, 5 stars

****************************
Tacker's story was an emotional one that will hit close to home to some so have Kleenex, chocolate and your favorite type of drink because you will need it.

It still felt as if it just happened yesterday for Tacker and at times it feels as if it will never go away, But despite it all Tacker keeps going and yes that means going to the therapist that was part of the deal that gave him a second chance at playing the sport he loves. Nora had a way with Tacker and I truly believe that her patience and encouragement played a big part in Tacker being able to forgive himself and look towards the future.

A beautiful reminder to forgive, love, appreciate the second chances we get and to look towards the future. Kara~ 4.5 Stars

I’m not sure why I never did my review of this book but here it goes….

Tacker’s story was one I was really wanting to know. He was so haunted and sad in the other books yet you could tell he was a good guy. Clearly he was getting further in his depressed state and intent on self-destruction. I was a bit worried that this story would not live up to the hype in my own head.

SB makes it very obvious that Tacker was madly in love with his fiancée before she died in a plane crash, which is great but could have also made it hard to go forward with another relationship. I feel like SB handled this very well…….his love story with Nora didn’t seem to compete with the love he had for MJ. I think it helped that Nora has an equally tragic story causing her to be more relatable in Tacker’s mind.

In true Arizona Vengeance’s series, this book had humor, hotness and angst all bundle in an interesting storyline.

So many feels for Tacker by Sawyer Bennett!
It's beautifully written, the storyline held my interest from start to end and my heart broke for both Tacker and Nora.

Watching the pain and guilt Tacker was going through was gut wrenching. He was a broken man who had lost his way after losing his fiancee in a horrible plane accident :(
Not happy at being forced into therapy by his Hockey Management Tacker finds himself slowly opening up to Nora. Nora has a beautiful and caring heart that has been through her own demons and totally the perfect person to help Tacker.
These two souls were meant for each other, together they were able to find peace, comfort and a love that will last a lifetime.

This is one of those books once you start reading you won't be able to put it down. I loved everything about it, truly a beautiful heartfelt romance.
Tacker and Nora are perfect together! ❤️

Tacker is an excellent addition to the Arizona Vengeance series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them all.

Now I need Dominik ASAP 😍

Tacker was the fifth book in Sawyer Bennett’s Arizona Vengeance NHL series.

Wow! We met Tacker previously and I knew it would be an emotional roller coaster and it was! Tacker was an emotional mess having lost the love of his life two weeks before their wedding in a plane crash that he had piloted. He was barely surviving and hockey was his only functioning activity.

Nora was a therapist and had experienced her own horrific tragedy as a child. She survived and was tasked with helping Tacker.

I loved how Bennett progressed the storyline. It wasn’t the typical or predictable path seen in other books with similar storylines. Everything about it was authentic, raw and real. I also loved the conversations between Nora and Tacker. Again, authentic and real.

No spoilers so no elaboration but it was a journey of healing, hope, forgiveness, love and joyful living. It was well written, well developed and I was hooked from beginning to end. My only complaint, if you can call it a complaint, it ended too abruptly. I could have read so much more!

True to form, Bennett continued developing other Vengeance characters, providing additional depth, dimension and intrigue. Dominik is up next and I totally can’t wait!

5 star Review Tacker (Arizona Vengeance #5) by Sawyer Bennett

AUDIO REVIEW:

Narrated by Stephen Dexter and Lucy Rivers, I found myself listening well into the night. I knew going into reading Tacker that this was going to be an emotional roller coaster of a story and Sawyer Bennett did not disappoint.  In fact even though I read the e-book, I still wasn’t prepared for how much more intense it would be and how my emotions would be affected when listening to the story.

I was absolutely hooked on this book from the first to the last chapter and couldn’t put it down. I have been waiting for Tacker’s story since he was first introduced in the Arizona Vengeance series and I knew that the woman who he would eventually open up and fall in love with would need to be someone very special; Nora Wayne is certainly that woman.

The emotions that were pulled from me as I listened to this book had me in tears at times. My heart just about broke for Tacker and all that he he has been through, his pain and guilt was palpable. The narrators did an amazing job in conveying the heartache and emotions of both Tacker and Nora.

The chemistry between Tacker and Nora is off the charts and I loved the banter and humour that flowed between them as they came to know one another.  I also loved the dynamic between Tacker and the other members of the team, they certainly have one another’s backs.

This is a story that will touch you to the very depths of your soul. I have no words to do it justice. All I can say is one click this book and be prepared for one heck of a listening experience….

I mostly read this one because it's a series I started and I want to finish it (plus Dominik x Willow breadcrumbs). To be honest, I knew from the moment I saw summary for this one that it wouldn't be my cup of tea.

And it wasn't.

Which is a shame, as I've been curious about Tacker since the beginning of this series. Unfortunately, his story didn't live up to my expectations.

First of all, as I mentioned, the whole premise of this story doesn't appeal to me. Patient dating his therapist? Nope. No, no, no, no, no, no. NO. N-O-P-E.

If you liked it, no judgment, but to me it's just gross.

I don't care that Nora stopped being Tacker's therapist before they started dating. Also, it was like, what, 5 minutes, before they started dating? Give me a break, pleaseeee.

There's a reason dating your patient is unethical. Especially when it's a therapist/psychologist/psychiatrist type of situation. It's the person who helps you with your MENTAL HEALTH. During therapy, you are at your most vulnerable and possibly share things, in confidence, that you wouldn't with anyone else. It's just...nothing about a situation like this screams "please write me as a romantic love story" to me.

The fact that the whole romance and chemistry between Tacker and Nora were lukewarm at best didn't help sell that love story either. It just didn't seem like something worth ricking your license for, you know?

And one more thing I really disliked? Tacker kept comparing Nora to his dead fiancee. And while I liked how open they both were about MJ and Tacker's grief and guilt etc., I found one thing very unnecessary and that was author's need to underline how what Tacker had with Nora was "better" than his love for MJ. How, for example, losing MJ was tragic and painful but Tacker wouldn't survive losing Nora because what they had was just so much more, or, *shudders* how the sex and connection was out of this world.

This is just lazy writing, evil-ex-trope-style. No two relationships are the same, and what's more, I firmly believe that an average human being has capacity to love more than one person during their lifetime. Otherwise it'd be just...sad. And it's also really sad when an author isn't able to "sell" the couple and their love story on their own merit alone and need to put down other characters/relationships etc. in order to make them look good.

Like I said. It's lazy AF, that's what it is.

I can only hope Dominik and Willow's story will be better written, for all the teasing they've had already.

I've been anticipating Tacker's story since he first showed up in the series because I just knew his story would be a beautiful journey no matter how heart-wrenching it would be. Tacker has seen and experienced tragedy that left him broken and ready to give up until he meets a kindred soul. He begins a journey of self discovery and realizes along the way that he can still feel, love and hold onto the memories of his first love. Tacker's story gave me ALL THE FEELS! Sawyer gave us a beautiful heart-wrenching love story that will leave you blown way.

Woot! Another Sawyer Bennett hockey hottie to add to my collection!

This book right here is the one I have been waiting for since the start of the Arizona Vengeance series. Tacker Hall stole my heart back in Bishop, and I have been impatiently awaiting his book since.

With what we have learned of him so far, I was expecting this book to completely rip my heart out and have it stomped on.

I was wonderfully surprised that this wasn't the case. Sure, this book is heavy on the emotions, however we were not lead down the ugly cry road. My heart was heavy, sure, I shed a few tears, however this story was filled with so much hope and lightness that I found myself smiling a lot too.

Nora is just adorable. I couldn't help but like her from the first time we meet her. Sparky and sassy and funny, but with her own demons to tackle.

I did keep waiting for the OMG big thing moment, however we didn't get one of those. Tacker isn't that kind of man anyway so it makes sense not to get one.

I so, so loved when Dominik was in this story. I cannot wait for his story - Dax is going to lose his mind!

Please don't make me wait too long for more.

Is it weird that I want to give this book a standing ovation?

It was just…so perfectly done. So beautifully written and so emotionally fulfilling. It was absolutely everything I was hoping for and my heart is overflowing with feels.

Sometimes it happens, when you get to the most anticipated book of a given series, that the story doesn’t live up to the hype. My heart wrapped itself around Tacker over and over again as I encountered him in each of the previous Arizona Vengeance books. I ached for him and rooted for him and could not wait to get my hands on his story.

And for me?

It absolutely lived up to the hype.

I fell hopelessly in love with Tacker’s beautiful, tortured soul. I cried for him as he slowly came back to life. I adored the nature of his relationship with Nora and how it moved slowly as she earned his trust and then stood steadfastly in his corner as he confronted his demons and clawed his way toward her light. And she was a light. Her awe-inspiring strength, and limitless heart won me over immediately. She was perfect for Tacker and the story Ms. Bennett bestowed on them could not have been more satisfying. I loved every minute.

While there is a lot of emotion packed into this book, there are also pockets of lightness and heat (hoo boy *fans self*!). The banter is on point and there were some moments that had my heart swooning like crazy – even outside of the romance itself. The bromance was so rewarding, and so were the moments spent with the larger tribe of Vengeance players and their partners. If this is your first one? You’re in for a real treat. If you’re a loyal reader of this series, you’ll walk away feeling like you’ve been given a little gift with the way this whole thing plays out. At least – that’s how I felt. Like this story was a gift to my heart and now my heart is so so happy.

So good. So satisfying. Seriously, bravo! Standing ovation delivered (even if it is weird)! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

I've been waiting for Tacker's story since the first book in this series and was glad to finally get my hands on it.

Tacker is a character that my heart broke for him in previous books knowing he had lost his fiancee, but in this book seeing the details of what happened that feeling only intensified. And with each page of the book that he would gradually forgive himself and come back to life, it was impossible not to be happy for him. And Nora was a fantastic character who went through traumatic situations but learned not to live hostage to her past. She was just the person Tacker needed in her life and I was happy to see these two characters falling in love. Together the two formed a couple that I hoped so much to find their happy ending!

Tacker is a sweet story of second chances, forgiveness and learning to move on that was a nice read and quick read.

4.5 Tacker and Nora Stars

I have been waiting with great anticipation for this book. Tacker has featured in the other novels in the series and we have seen him drop to the very depths of his grief and he seemed hell bent on a path of self destruction. I think the author took two big risks with this book. Firstly, whenever there is the death of a previous partner there is the chance that the new love interest , our Hero or heroine , will not be loved as much or just not measure up to the person who has passed. Secondly , the whole topic could be really morose and shroud a love story in a cloak of misery. Sawyer Bennett avoided both of these. She is such a talented author and her careful approach to sensitive topics really paid off.

Tacker clearly had loved M.J. , his fiancee who died two weeks before their wedding , and he was consumed by grief afterwards. I never felt like Nora was second best. He has a very different connection to her and it feels like it is more solid, more loving , more of everything. Yet, M.J. is not forgotten about or discarded. Her memory is held dear but it doesn't overshadow Nora and Tacker.

Both Tacker and Nora have experienced huge losses and trauma. They both show resilience (Nora more so - Tacker has to learn his). There is enough dry humour , self deprecation and fun in this book to lift the mood so it never feels maudlin. Plus there is some scorching hot chemistry between our H/h. Phew!
Also, I am itching to see our Vengeance boys up against the Carolina Cold Fury ...... who do I pick????

So why not 5 stars? I wanted more of an epilogue. Purely personal preference and call me greedy but I wanted a peek further into the future. I get that lots has been set up for future books and I can't wait for Dominik and Wylde's books , but I wanted a bit more of the resolution between Tacker and his girl.

HEA? Kind of but more HFN.
Cheating? Absolutely not. These two are all about each other.
