Ricki has one goal: save the Starlight Drive-in movie theater from going dark forever. Okay, make that two goals … she may also want a first kiss from her cinema-rescuing partner and major crush, Jake. Lana definitely has only one goal: grow her online makeup channel to keep her momager off her back, even if the posts attract ugly internet trolls.

The two cousins couldn’t

Wallflowers. Beauty queens. Film buffs. Drama queens. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend a day in her shoes? Two estranged cousins—geeky horror movie fanatic Ricki and makeup guru Lana—accidentally switch bodies for a fateful summer road trip that is partFreaky Friday, part romcom, and all heart

Freaky in Fresno is such a cute and fun read!! It’s full of nostalgia, silliness, love and family that all create such a touching book.

FREAKY IN FRESNO is a spin on the old novel, FREAKY FRIDAY. Ricki (nickname for Lyric) had a falling out with her cousin and BFF, Lana, a few years earlier. Without much explanation, Lana seemed to no longer want to hang out with her. It coincided with the time her youtube makeup channel, Lookie Lana, really took off. The channel got so big, she might have endorsement deals, and her mother quit her job to be a full-time manager.

I loved this adorable, fun, laugh out loud read! It's geared toward young adult readers but I think many middle grade and adult readers would find it enjoyable as well!

Well, this book was a bit unusual. Even as I'm writing this a week after finishing, I still don't know what to think of it.
    The Good:
Cousin Relationships: These aren't seen enough in fiction and it was nice to see how they didn't get along at the beginning and how they grew throughout the story.
The Writing: The style was pretty good and the pacing was even.
    The Bad:
The Concept: On the last page, I still struggled to wrap my mind around what was happening in this book.
The Ending: A lot of action

Cousins, Ricki and Lana, are as opposite as can be. Ricki is a lover of horror movies. Lana is consumed by her online persona, “Lookie Lana”, a makeup and glamour guru. Once close, the cousins grew apart as they found different interests and have developed a general dislike of each other. To help remedy this, their Aunt May gives them a pink convertible, just like the one their grandmother used to own. While fighting over who gets to take the car to their big night, the drive-in theater’s ...more

When two polar opposite cousins inherit a pink convertible from their aunt, they must work it out on how to share it. Ricki, a horror movie extraordinaire, has been pining over a crush who she’s been working with to help revamp the local drive-in. Lana, a beauty queen blogger, has an important social event to attend to boost her followers. When the drive-in reopening and the event end up on the same night, these two fight for who gets the darn car. But, what happens instead? A Freaky Friday

Take a girl who is crushing on a boy. They share the same passion for horror movies and are doing everything they can to save an aging drive-in movie theater. Ricki's determined to have her first kiss with Jake under the stars at the grand reopening. Avoiding his attempts to kiss her ahead of schedule seems like her biggest challenge, but fate has far bigger plans in store. Lana, her social media diva cousin, from whom she's estranged, starts the upset ball rolling when she appears after having ...more

[I received an electronic review copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.]

I enjoyed the author's book Pretty in Punxsutawney so much, I couldn't wait to read this one. I thoroughly enjoyed this send up of the Freaky Friday movies! I thought it was interesting that the author chose to tell this from only one of the girl's perspectives, but it totally worked. In some ways, Ricki was the emotionally "healthier" one of the two (not entirely, but at

    * I received an e-ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Overall, this was a pretty cute and fun read! It took me a little while to fully connect to the story and the characters, but by the time I approached the middle, I was invested. It's a fun, very modern take on Freaky Friday, with a "switch" between two cousins who don't get along. As an only child who grew up close to her cousins, I loved this take.

This book felt a little average to me. Not really amazing, but also not particularly bad either. I liked the storyline fine, and the writing style was really addictive, but some of the characters felt a tad flat to me. I did like how it centered on family A LOT, though, which definitely improved my opinion of the story! My only wish was that I wish the formatting included Lana's perspective, instead of only getting to hear Ricki's perspective,

All in all, while I still think I prefer Pretty in

Much as I love a formulaic Freaky Friday retread, some are better executed than others. This one is not bad by any means, but it wasn’t as engaging as others I’ve read. I found it really long after about 75% where I was just anxious for the girls to switch back. And once they did, the promises to always be friends from now on, and the words of wisdom they shared with others along the same lines, ran long.

A hilarious and very creative story to show the complications of the apparent glamor that surrounds the lives of digital influencers in addition to showing the strength of family ties.

I was just saddened by the way Ricki treats Jake and hoped in the end for a different behavior from him. Apart from this detail, I loved all the love stories that permeate the story, the drama involving the car and the drive-in and the powerful presence of the evil Chihuahua.

I just am not getting into this one. I think it started in a weird part of the story for me. I wish that had been more of a flashback maybe? I don't know. Just not for me.

A book about two girls who were close but separated. Their bodies are switched and they must work together in order to be back to who they were.

This was a cute, simple read. It was very enjoyable and really fun to read. I enjoyed the story of how the girls, Ricki and Lana, weren't close together in a relationship as before but after the body switched their lives changed. The author wrote this story well and everything was
