This is my first read by Donna Grant and I think the word that I am looking for here is "delightful"!!!!

I really liked the small town romance feel this book had while still incorporating a very real and true to life situation here- Skylar the heroine was being stalked, terrorized and physically abused by her Ex.
Danny the local sheriff was beyond charming.
Loved this Cowboy!!!

This book really ended up having it all, some intense drama with equally wild action and a great suspense plus a "wonderful" second chance romance in

I really liked Danny. He seemed to subconsciously wait for Skylar to come back into his life. He had a crush on her in High School and she moved away as soon as they graduated. He never got serious with anyone else in the time they were apart and I like that it might have been because his heart was already taken.

Skylar also had a crush on Danny in high school. If only these two had the guts to approach each other, but then Danny had a point when he said it just wasn't their time yet. Great coup

“A Cowboy Like You” is a well written and addictive story that draws you into the life of Danny Oldman, a positively handsome Lone Star sheriff. He is married to his job and longs to have the kind of love and relationship that others have, however the one person he loves is an old high school crush that has made a new life in Houston, TX.

It is not until Skylar Long walks back into Danny's life that old memories of her start to resurface. His heart stirs up old feelings and a hope tha

ARC received for review

Another great book by Ms. Grant, not only can she do dragon kings but also cowboys. Danny is the local sheriff and he once loved Skylar. She left, but now she's back and trouble is following her. Danny is her knight with a shiny star, and lots of hot lovin'. Lots of help from the previous couples, as well as couple of yummy friends who I hope get their own books.

A Cowboy Like You was quite the read! Intense drama, great suspense, one charmingly sweet cowboy, and a stronger-than-she-knows heroine, there was so much happening, I couldn’t turn away! I haven’t read previous books in this series and had no trouble following who’s who. However, my curiosity was definitely engaged about recurring characters and I can’t wait to read this backlist!

A wonderful addition to the series (I've read other books in the series before) in general, and a story I just really enjoyed reading from beginning till end.

It wasn't anything overly spectacular and quite predictable, which is why I didn't rate it higher than 3,5 stars. But nonetheless, it was a book I was always excited for to pick up at the end of the day, when I read it on my Kindle in bed.

It was a fast paced read thanks to the enjoyable writing style.

I think of this series this one had been my favorite..We get reacquainted with Danny the towns sheriff and he finds himself lonely, and on one specific night he was remembering his high school crush the only girl he ever really thought of. Skylar is running for her life from her abusive boyfriend, while running she stops at a rest area and about to get killed when Danny comes to her rescue, Danny the guy she had a crush on in high school. Danny rescues Skylar but could not believe it, it must be ...more

Hold on to your hats, because this stoic, lonely cowboy will steal your heart! Sheriff Danny Oldman’s priority is keeping people in his rural Texas county safe, but no number of calls and hours on the job can ease his loneliness, in spite of the close friends he has. When his high school crush finds her way back to Lone Star, however, everything changes.

Skylar Long put Lone Star, Texas, in the rearview mirror for the excitement of the big city soon after high school, but she finds he

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. A Cowboy Like You is the fourth book in Donna Grant’s Heart of Texas series. It can be read as a stand-alone as I have not read the other books in the series and did not find that I felt I was missing anything. This is a second chance at love story. Sherrif Danny Oldman has never gotten over his high school crush Skylar Long so when a chance meeting allows him to rescue her from her abusive boyfriend he is de ...more

It is not within my being to understand the need to beat on another person. So I normally avoid books that have abuse as the story line. Yes, this is a second chance romance but it doesn't ring true to me that she would even consider jumping back into a relationship while still running from an abuser. From the standpoint of Danny, he has created a world for himself that we can envy. He has his dream job and an amazing circle of friends. Now he has a chance to realize a relationship with his high ...more

A Cowboy Like You is a sweet second chance romance. Danny and Skylar were high school sweethearts, but the relationship ended, and Skylar left small town life behind. Now, years later, Danny is the town Sheriff, single(he never got over Skylar),and the woman he has always loved is back in town. Skylar is fleeing from her obsessive a

Danny works hard at his job. It's difficult being the sheriff. While eating his dinner at a rest area, he rescues an abused woman from her violent boyfriend. Danny is dedicated professional. He follows the letter of the law. I wish that he didn't feel so isolated. It's ironic that the woman he rescues is his old high school crush. Skylar is beautiful, funny and intelligent. How did she find herself in this situation? I sympathized with her. I was glad that she had the courage to leave. It's too ...more

I was immediately drawn to Danny Oldman, the hero in this story, as he portrayed a deep sadness and loneliness that almost broke my heart. He is the sheriff and it takes up most of his life, time, and is a major commitment but he realizes he is just…alone in the world. He has great friends – ones that you REALLY wish would have your back if you ever needed help – but it’s just not the same as having a family of your own. And it’s close to the holidays so I could actually feel his sadness.

This book definitely had some suspense in it as well as romance. It is a second chance trope. Be warned: physical and mental abuse, stalking.
I loved the character of Danny. He was a strong alpha, but very protective and caring. He was the Sheriff of the small town and pretty much a loner. Then Skylar returns to town in trouble and Danny is there to protect her. Skylar had been in an abusive relationship, but is finally fleeing it. Go girl!

This story grabbed me from the first chapter. I did not want to have to put it down. The story flows smoothly, has well developed characters, deals with real-world issues, and puts it all together seamlessly. We meet the two main characters; one is a small county Sheriff and the other was the Sheriff's crush in high school. They meet for the first time since high school graduation; almost ten years later, under very unsavory conditions. Due to the Sheriff's honesty and real caring, he is surroun ...more

I kind of expected a "feel-good" small town romance with this book - full of quirky characters and some angst. Instead this turned out to be what I'd call romantic suspense. The main character Skylar is fleeing her abuser, and drives to her high-school hometown. Danny, the local sheriff, helps her, along with his friends. The bad guy is really bad, as is his family, and Danny and his group are great. This really made me want to check out the earlier books in the series, which I haven't read, bec ...more

Absolutely enjoyed reading 'A Cowboy Like You'. It is not often that i read books where there is a cowboy, but the more i am doing so, the more i cannot wait to read more. Loved the two main characters, Danny and Skylar and their friends. Loved the ending, All in all, a well written book and one that i can highly recommend. Hope to read more books by Donna Grant.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review, which i have voluntarily given.
Ohhhh, I really loved this one! It has a typical theme for suspense that I have read, but I loved how the story flowed from beginning to end. It sucked me in. Danny and Skylar, loved this couple.

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This book was an easy, fast paced palate cleanser of a read. It would not take a lot of effort to pick apart all of the things I did not love about it (cardboard cutout main characters, a romance that comes about almost instantly and is weirdly timed for the heroine , a rushed ending, etc) but the fact remains that I was entertained and interested enough to want to see how this story turned out. This book is part of the Hearts of Texas series but can easily be read as a stand alone novel. I must say that while I enjoyed the story overall, I did have some issue with the timing of this story. Considering that Skylar was just coming out of an abusive relationship, I mean as in yesterday, I didn't like how fast she jumped into something with the sheriff, Danny. Granted the two knew each other from high school, their whirlwind relationship just seemed out of place for me. I would have prefer ...more

Characters are typical romance couples who let the loves of their life slip away. The family legacy of helping each other through danger and difficult relationships continues much to my book-loving joy in this fourth of the series. I was expecting someone else to get their story, but was gladly mistaken when I realized it was the stalwart family friend, Sheriff Danny Oldman.

I have read all the Heart of Texas stories, and A Cowboy Like You has become my favourite.

Whilst it has all the trademarks of a lovely, sweet "cowboy" romance, it deals with some real life issues that so many are going through every day.

Danny and Skylar's story is beautiful and sexy, however it is hard and heartbreaking at the same time.

I don't want to give too much away about how things got to where they are, but just know that what Skylar is running from will get you right in the feels.

Sheriff Danny Oldman is married to his job. He never once forgot about his high school crush. Danny witnesses an altercation and steps in to defuse the situation. The woman involved is none other than Skylar Long, the one who got away. Danny risks everything, including his career, to protect Skylar from her fanatical ex. Will Danny take advantage of his second chance with Skylar? Can he keep her from becoming another statistic?

Back in high school she was the girl his heart wanted, but never really got the chance to have, Skylar Long owned his heart in a way no else ever could. Through the years he has thought about her, wondered where life had taken her, and if she was happy... never expecting to get the chance to ask her the questions himself.

But then fate, and crappy circumstances, have brought her back to town, and in dire need of someone to look out for her, and keep her obsessive ex-boyfriend at bay. When Danny

I just couldn’t feel the love for this romantic suspense novel. While the writing itself is solid and the premise is interesting, the execution left something to be desired. Most of Danny and Skylar’s interactions revolve around her ex and they don’t actually spend much time together, but that doesn’t stop them from having (unprotected) sex just 2-3 days after he rescued her from an abusive relationship or talking about forever shortly after that. I found this problematic on a variety of levels ...more

In this book, we get to read Danny Oldman's story. He is the sheriff who has helped both the Harper's and Easton's in earlier books. Danny is a stand-up kind of guy, loyal and committed to his job. He works really long hours and is starting to have trouble dealing with after effects of the job. He is lonely, always by himself even though he has great friends in both the Harper's and Easton's.
