Wild Women in the Kitchen: 101 Rambunctious Recipes & 99 Tasty Tales

Rate this book
Be forewarned: Bland is banned in this exuberant compendium featuring 101 passion-provoking recipes personally contributed and/or tested by Bay Area chefs Lynette Rohrer and Nicole Alper, both distinguished alumnae of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco.

Part cookbook, part women's history, Wild Woman in the Kitchen dishes up a scrumptious smorgasbord of treats for the taste buds: spicy revelations about some of the world's most stimulating women and the meals that made them sizzle, and dozens of piquant quotations on the pleasures of the palate.

Fans of unconventional females and unconditionally delicious food will find much to savor in these pages. Like the saucy rebels and red-hot mamas (not to mention a few truly tough cookies) who inspired it, this spirited volume stirs the imagination, seduces the senses, and serves up some very nourishing sustenance for the soul.

The little stories are cute, but I've never really gotten much use out of the recipes.

I've only tried a couple of recipes in the book, but I have kept it on my bookshelf instead of in the kitchen. Very "I'm a woman hear me roar," but feminists need to eat too, right? BTW, the pot brownies recipe sounds disgusting.

It was an interesting read. I haven't tried any of the recipes. I might at some point.
