I was in the children's section of the library, which, by the way, an adult is not allowed to sit unless accompanied by a child, and this book caught my eye. What a wonderful surprise! I love the illustrations.

"A Paper Zoo" by Renee Karol Weiss is a collection of American poetry from around the country from different time periods. Ellen Raskin did the artwork throughout the book, giving the book life with many different colored pictures to go along with the poems. The poems in themselves are magnificent, as they come to life as you read them. Each poem represents and theme or lesson or moral. They illustrate these themes with fun stories and meaningful literature. Every story or poem is unique in itself. This book captures the reader and makes you want to read every poem in the book through magnificent pictures and literature.
