The Silver Witch Chronicles #1
The Witch's Spark
All I wanted was a normal, boring college life. One free of life-threatening conditions and medical treatments I've dealt with since birth. But then magic happened... Now there's this weird electricity pulsing through my hands and a vampire, elf, and cat in my life trying to help me control my power. Oh, and someone is hunting me for my magic. He won't stop at anything until he gets it. Yeah, so much for normal... The cast was enjoyable enough to get me to the end of this book, even though the writing had a slew of problems; most notably the constant reminders. Readers generally aren't stupid, but this book is written like they are. It chapped my ass.
Half the book would disappear if the main characters would just have a conversation but of course they don't. Even though they have loads of opportunity. They talk a whole lot, but just don't say anything of substance. I felt the point of that was to keep the mystery, but the story had plenty of questions that would keep a reader going, so the characters-hiding-secrets-badly thing was pointless and annoying.
The ending was unexpected and enjoyable but this book doesn't have its own individual arc so nothing felt resolved and I missed that level of satisfaction.
The world building was intriguing enough that I will probably read the second book eventually.

I really enjoyed this book. I found the cast very intriguing and likable. I was and wasn’t expecting the epilogue, and I love how the final chapter ended.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I won a copy of this book in a fb competition and couldn't wait to get started after reading a short from The Realms of Magic anthology.
What to say about this book? It is a fantastic start to what promises to be a great series. Everly, a terminally sick young woman, discovers she is different from everyone around her, and not just because her life is on a limited timeline. Her inner dialogue is more than relatable,( talking to yourself, this is where you often find honest answers right?!)
Traian (perhaps a side page could be added to help with name pronunciations would be good?) Is a little intense, but this seems to be a common occurrence for his species across the genre. He's interesting though and I can't wait to see more of him in later books.
Mr Perry is an oddity while also being intriguing. Looking forward to more of his story and background as the series progresses.
The world building is great, realistic while keeping up with the fantasy ideas.
All in all, a well thought out book that, as I said before, is looking good to be a great series.

Everly has an interesting life dealing with health problems and a smothering family. I loved that she values her education and that she has a green thumb.
It isn't until closer to the end of the book that her witchy powers become too obvious to ignore even though there are plenty of hints leading to that conclusion, and even then she's still bewildered because she doesn't really know her family history.
Her love interest, Traian, adds an interesting flavor to the story because he has more than an inkling of what's happening to her. And he knows she's far from ready for the truth even though they're irresistibly drawn to each other.
The ending presents an unexpected twist to her reality that completely changes her life. I'm looking forward to finding out just how much changes in book 2.

A storey so unexpected yet so much more .This isn't my usual genre. I started reading it thinking I'm board, this is what's available. But the caracters are vibrant and the story kept me enthralled from start to finish. I had to know the outcome and ending was truly unexpected , now that I have finished reading this storey I can say Melanie Tolan is a tremendous storey teller and writer. Aquier a copy of "The Witch's Spark "so you yourself can enjoy reading it as much as I have. 😮🙄☺Kat

Not bad for a debut novel! The plot of the book was pretty good. Melania struggles to lead an independent life while dealing with chronic illness. Little does she know, illness isn't the only thing inside her. She realizes that there are supernatural forces around her and comes to find she has power of her own.

DNF due to racial slur
G*psy is a racial slur similar to the N-word. If you wouldn't use the latter, you shouldn't use the former. While I recognize this isn't well known in N. America, found even minor research for your book world reveal this. The term the author should have been use is Roma or Romany.

I believe the writer succeeded in trapping me in a thrilling world made by herself
The events were interesting, I loved every chapter and couldn’t put the book down.
Actually, I recommend reading the book.

This was a great debut from an author I’m sure we’ll hear wonderful news about as time goes on.
It was a good story about a sick girl finding out she has more power inside her than she ever knew. The characters are well rounded and interesting.
A nice start to a new series.

It was an okay story but it didn't really grab me I felt there was to much repetition in the writing.

There are some cute moments other than that it is a pretty plain book where nothing noteworthy happened.

A Sexy Vampire & Hot Elf & A Stubborn Young Woman With A Short Live Expectancy!!😞😍💥
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
An interesting debut novel that kept me turning the pages to get to the bottom of what was going on with Everly!!
Everly has been chronically ill most of her life. She isn't expected to live a full, long life because of a blood disorder she has!😢 She's determined to live as independently & fully as possible in the time she does have. Her Mum is extremely intrusive & overprotective. Her Grandma, who died the day she was born, left her a silver cross necklace & an apartment in Seattle, in her Will. She moved in to it as soon as could 👍
Whilst visiting her Grandma's grave, as she did regularly, she went to another grave stone. It had flowers on it she'd made at work. When she touched the carving on the stone she was shocked with a current that sent her flying backwards but she also saw images in her head during this transfer!!⚡😱⚡
After this occurs Everly's life takes a dramatic turn. She is stalked. She meets a gorgeous guy, Traian, who seems truly interested in her!!😍 Her health deteriorates & her most fearsome Professor at College suddenly seems to be everywhere she is!!😳 Then she's attacked ..... 💥🙏
I'm looking forward to reading book #2 🎉 Especially after the shocking ending after the Gala!!😱😭
