An excellent thriller of a family in witness protection after the father lets the Feds know things going on at his workplace. They are whisked from the family home and placed in a far away community with new names and identities, but the teenage son is having a hard time dealing with the changes! Quickly he decides to run away, back to Chicago where his friends are and the cute girl he met just before he was taken away.
The action packed story that follows shows friendship and relationships de

A fifteen year old Zach has been taken from his school and friends in the middle of the night and told by his parents that he and his siblings have been moved for the family’s safety, due to something his father did. He misses his mates, his place on the football team and mostly the girl he met just before they left. His desire to runaway back to his old home and friends, leaves him and the rest of his family in danger from the very people his father was escaping from.

I went into this book completely blind. Honestly, I didn't mean to sign up for this tour, but whoa, am I ever glad I did! I've never been one for audiobooks because I get so distracted, but while listening to this one, I was able to work on some crochet orders I had. I started the book on a Tuesday and by mid-Thursday, I was finished. I paused it on my computer, downloaded the Audible app on my phone and took my phone with me while cooking dinner just so I could listen to the book! Once dinner w ...more

*Audiobook review*

Great book and entertaining read. I laughed out loud several times! Hilarious. The writing was good, but the narration adds a certain quality that otherwise would be missed. Narrator Gary Tiedemann plays it perfectly. His characterization was spot on. From clueless teens, mob bosses, eastern European crooks, and goofy goons–It all made for a very entertaining experience. I assure you I would’nt had the same experience without the audiobook. Excellent. Keep your eye on author Pe

Thompson delivers a heart-pounding thrill ride in The Runaway. All the characters are well thought out with complex stories if their own. It is an edge of your seat, thrilling, suspense, novel. I look forward to checking out other works by this author.

The narrator, Gary Tiedemann, really made this story come to life. He individualized each character and made them seem authentic. The heightened suspense kept me on edge.

Roller Coaster Ride!

The Runaway is a roller coaster ride for two teen runaways, trying to keep themselves alive. It is action packed, but at an appropriate level for two teenagers.

Zach and Lindsey are able to wriggle out of several sticky situations, but they come across as believable, which makes the story more enjoyable than if they were performing death defying , super-human, feats, at sixteen years old. I

I enjoyed The Runaways. It is not an over used theme, so I didn't feel like I just read

I loved the details in this book. Nearly ever character was thought out & brought to life. Fast paced & action packed, this was hard to put down. It keeps you wrapped up & on the edge waiting for the next move. As each strand is unraveled, another pops up until it all comes to a head for an explosive ending. The mother in me, however does want to know if Zach every got those ribs looked at.....

I voluntarily agreed to review this book, and was given an Advanced Reader Copy to do so.

I received a free copy of this book to review. Very good story!!! I would recommend this to young adult and adult readers. Zach was angry about his family entering the Witness Protection Program. At 15 he didn’t like having to move in the middle of the night. He runs away and goes back to Chicago. Big Mistake

Action packed

Great story and characters! Many twists that I did not expect. I enjoyed reading it. It would have been better if there was less unnecessary language, yet overall it was quite good.

Great fast read. A family goes into the Witness Protection Program. The son runs away, and goes back to his home in Chicago. The bad guys, and the Agents are looking for him and his girlfriend. They get into so much trouble. Could not put this down.

This was an excellent choice. Once I started reading the book, I could not put it down. I could not help pulling for the main characters and wanting them to win. I could not believe how dumb the bad guys were. I found myself laughing at some of their actions. I recommend this book.

RABT Book Tours: The Runaway by Peter J. Thompson 1 2 Mar 04, 2019 04:59AM

Peter Thompson grew up on the east side of Chicago, in the shadow of the steel mills where the air was sooty and smelled of sulfur. His life wasn’t always so gritty, but the grit and realism finds its way into his thrillers. He has always loved stories of every kind, and one of his joys is finding a way to get inside character’s heads, seeing the world as they see it and feeling their triumphs, pa ...more
