Catch Your Death

Rate this book
The scene played over and over in his mind. He only had one choice left. He had to die.

Behind the high and imposing gates of a prestigious college, five students have taken their lives. All of them friends, all of them good kids, all of them dead within months of each other. When FBI Agent Jess Bishop is called in to investigate, what she discovers will make her just as vulnerable as the students she’s trying to protect.

As Jess begins to unravel the secrets behind the deaths, she uncovers something much more sinister at the school and she is determined to find out who is at the centre of it.

Though her team think they’re closing in on the ringleader, Jess becomes convinced they’re going after the wrong person, forcing her to investigate on her own. Desperate to stop any more deaths, she risks everything by putting herself in the firing line. But just how far would she go to save the lives of those around her?

An absolutely gripping thriller that will have your pulse racing. Catch Your Death is perfect for fans of Robert Dugoni, Karin Slaughter and Lisa Gardner.

Special Agent Jess Bishop is back in the third book in the Jessica Bishop Series. In Catch Your Death Jess is asked by her boss to check in on her nephew seventeen-year-old Levi who attends a prestigious school called Gracemount Academy where the yearly fee is a staggering $50,000 as he rang her in a panic and she is out of the state and can’t reach him.

Upon arrival at the school, the dorm warden leaders her to Levi’s room but he’s not there. After some investigating of the building he is found dead in the shower room, it looks like suicide.

The dorm warden starts babbling about this not being the first suicide at the school and that in the last five months five of the boys have all killed themselves.

On the hunt for some truths about what has been happening she is led to believe that an online social media game called ‘The Last Supper’ is leading these kids to kill themselves but Jess isn’t convinced, things just don’t add up. Trouble is whenever she gets close strange things happen, evidence goes missing, people turn up dead. Could someone be trying to sabotage her investigation?

What an amazing book. I read it in just a few hours and in one day, I just didn’t want to put it down. From the opening scene, which will become clear later in the book, I was hooked.

Whilst there are three books in the series I have only read two of them, this one and book two ‘Cross Your Heart‘ which I also awarded five stars. I really must go back and read book one.

What I love about this series is that Jess isn’t your usual FBI agent, she has flaws, she pops pills likes sweets for an injury she sustained in the first book. She also has her own way of dealing with the pain! She is a woman that never gives up, she’s had to grow up dealing with a lot of issues which in this book are thrown to the forefront as the person(s) try to stop her from doing her job.

The book was intense and although you know from early on who is most likely trying to stop Jess, the bigger picture doesn’t reveal itself until late in the book which is why I was so gripped to the pages, I needed to know. I also needed to know what the opening scene meant as I couldn’t work out where it fitted into the story.

If you are after an edge of your seat, gritty, realistic thriller then give this series a read. Believe me, these books will have you yearning for more. I do hope that we will see Special Agent Jess Bishop again.

If you're going to do a secret society at a posh school storyline, there needs to be something that makes it stand out from the many, many others that have done it before. Not only does this not do that, there's also nothing new added to our understanding of the main characters. There's so much repetition- of phrases, ideas, and character hooks (yes, we know she doesn't like to touch anyone outside of sex, writing it multiple times doesn't make it any more impactful), that the whole book feels rushed and light. Usually Kierney Scott splashes the walls with bloody flair, but this had no surprises, no depth, nothing that made me love the previous instalment so much. This is the kind of work you hand in when you're late for a deadline or you've run out of ideas. It'll do, but it won't wow anyone.

Catch Your Death, the third in the Jess Bishop series, is a suspenseful and gripping book which could be read as a stand-alone.

The apparent suicide of a teenager in a posh school, leads the police to the discovery of the cover-up of 4 more suicides in the same school. Further investigations soon reveal that the 5 deceased boys were all best friends.
The police primarily come to believe the suicides are the result of a game called The Last Supper. But as the team try to figure out who is behind this deadly game, they realize the truth may be much more sinister and they may be treading on the filthy grounds of buried secrets.

Thanks to the author, Bookouture and the NetGalley for providing me with a copy.

The third book in the Detective Jess Bishop series by Kierney Scott. In this latest book, FBI Agent Jess Bishop investigates a series of apparent suicides at a prestigious boarding school.

While the case Jess investigates is a standalone story, I recommend reading the previous books in the series to better understand the backstory of Jess and the other characters. Jess is a troubled FBI agent with a past she would rather others not know about. She is smart, independent, headstrong, and good a solving difficult cases.

In this book, Jess ends up investigating a series of deaths that have a connection to a coworker. While Jess is the main character, there are other interesting characters on her investigative team. Each of the characters has a distinct personality. I've read the previous two books, and find with each book that the characters become better developed. I would like to learn more about some of them, and as the series continues, I expect for this to happen.

An action-packed mystery. Good for fans of crime thrillers. Suspenseful, intriguing, and complex.

I received a free eARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Catch Your Death is the third novel in the FBI Special Agent Jess Bishop series, featuring the intrepid, gutsy protagonist and daughter of a serial killer. This is another suspenseful, action-packed episode and definitely the best and most addictive so far. There are plenty of thrills and spills, twists and turns and it is nothing short of a nail-biting page-turner. From the moment I picked it up, it engaged me with its excellent characterisation, thrilling plot and easy readable writing style. This is as good as the previous instalments but with the heat turned up.

I am enjoying learning more about protagonist Jess, who is a sceptical, broken and non-trusting type of person; I see some of myself in her in that respect. But she is also fierce and intelligent, however, it is clear that the revelations about her father have led to problems in her establishing meaningful relationships, both platonic and romantic, mainly due to her lack of trust. She is an all-giving investigator in that she will go all out to gain justice for the victims.

If you enjoy gritty writers such as Angela Marsons then this is a great series to try. I am already pining for the next instalment.

Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC.

I’m going to start out by saying that I did not read the two books that precede Catch Your Death, and I don’t feel like that impeded by ability to enjoy this incredible story. The previous two books allow you to understand Special Agent Jess Bishop’s backstory, but the author does a phenomenal job of giving pertinent information throughout the story.

Right off the bat, I knew that Special Agent Jess Bishop was not your typical FBI agent. The story opens with Jess engaging in sexual intercourse with a complete stranger in a dark alley behind a bar. The pills that Jess is constantly popping barely numbs the chronic pain she has from a previous injury, so sex became her drug of choice for temporary pain relief. The only problem is that she has major trust issues, so her partners are always strangers and they don’t go back to her place or even her car.

Shortly after she’s finished, Jess receives a phone call from her superior (Jeanie Gilbert) asking if she could go to Gracemount Academy to check on her nephew Levi Smith after Jeanie received a troubling voicemail from him earlier in the night. Even though Jess is still on administrative leave, she agrees since her boss is out of town and unable to do so. Unfortunately, Jess discovers Levi’s dead body (from an apparent suicide) in the showers. When Jess starts questioning the rambling house mother, it’s revealed that FOUR other boys committed suicide within the last year, and the academy made no attempt to inform the students or parents.

Jess comes off of administrative leave and forms a team to formally investigate these suicides. The team was initially led to believe that the suicides were the result of a dangerous social media game called ‘The Last Supper’ (this gave me HUGE slender man vibes, which still creeps me out). However, Jess does not believe this to be the case since the evidence does not support this theory. Additionally, as Jess and her team get closer to solving this case, evidence goes missing and people turn up dead. It seems that someone on the inside is sabotaging the investigation but who?!

I loved every minute of this story. I loved all the twists and turns of the investigation. Jess is a complete and total hot mess, but when you see the background from which she came from as well as the source surrounding her hand injury, it’s not so surprising that she’s turned out the way that she has. She may not have the healthiest personal life, but she’s a damn good investigator and it’s clear that you can count on her to solve the case.

Overall, if you’re looking for a fast-paced crime thriller that will keep you on your toes, this is it. I definitely will be reading more from this author in the future.

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an eARC of this book. This did not influence my review. All opinions are my own.

At last - a book I can give five stars to. Yippee.

FBI Special Agent Jess Bishop is still technically on leave when she gets a call from her team leader, Jeannie (who is away), asking her to check on her nephew, Levi, who is a student at the exclusive Gracemount Academy. He had called Jeannie and left a very garbled but terrified sounding message. Jess goes straight there but arrives too late. Levi is dead, hanging in the showers. Later Jess learns that Levi is the fifth suicide at the school in just a few months. But the administration didn't tell the students or warn the other parents. Seriously???

That's exactly what Jess thinks. Something is very fishy, Did Levi even commit suicide? Jamieson works with her on this, as uncomfortable for them both as it is, but every lead they turn up disappears into dust. No one is willing to talk, everyone is terrified of something or someone. Evidence goes missing and search warrants are not granted. This all smacks of a cover up - but of what? Jess's persistence might yet get her killed.

This book grabbed me from the get go and did not let go until the final page. Maybe I was just desperate for a really good and gripping read but I could not put it down reading well into the night, morning actually.

After recovering from her tragedy, Special agent Jess Bishop has gone off the tracks a bit and not in the right frame of mind as someone from her past is coming back to haunt her and make her seem like she is crazy. When Jess is asked a favor from her boss and someone she sees as a friend to check on her nephew at his school. Jess agrees, but when she arrives, it will not be the sight that she wants to view as she discovers her friend's son dead. It turns out that this boarding school has had five young boys all committed suicide over the past few months, and the worst thing is the school is keeping it under wraps and not informing the parents. It turns out that the deaths are connected to a social media app game which provides you with dangerous challenges to prove your worth. Can Jess and her team get to the bottom of it, even if it means unraveling years of a secret society and boys group? As well as find out who is attacking her with memories of her father and his victims? Though written with style reminiscent of the British mysteries, I quite enjoyed the storyline so the slower pace did not bother me as much as it usually would have. If you love murder and pacts and unraveling the evil underbellies of boarding school life, then check out Catch Your Death by Kierney Scott.

Catch Your Death by Kierney Scott is the third in the Special Agent Jess Bishop series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background: (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Jess’s father was a serial killer, and was put away a long time ago. She has kept her background secret, but has never really dealt with that childhood trauma. Her best friend has recently been killed. She hasn’t handled that well either. Jess just doesn’t socialize well, and has a rather bizarre way of handling her stress and numbing her pain. However, she is an excellent agent, and works well with her current partner Alex Chan, and the rest of the team: Tina Flowers, David Milligan, and her ex-partner/friend/lover Jamison Briggs.

My Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Even though she’s still on “vacation”, Jess’s boss, Jeanie Gilbert, calls and ask her to check on her nephew. The news is not good. Soon Jess is investigating the death of 5 students at a prestigious boys school. They have all committed suicide. Apparently these deaths are part of a bigger case, but since the two agents in charge haven’t made a lot of progress, Jess is assigned to lead her team to get to the bottom of it. As they seem to be narrowing in on the perpetrator, Jess is starting to have doubts. This may be even bigger than they thought, but now she doesn’t know who to trust, and she refuses to put any of her team in danger again. Soon she decides to put her own life and job on the line and launch her own investigation.

Unfortunately, Jess is still on the mend. Her hand has still not healed from the knife wounds in the last case, and she is in constant pain. Her mind has not yet healed from shooting Briggs, or from losing Lindsay. She blames herself for everything, but she has to try and set all this aside to solve this case. She will also have to accept some help.

Her whole life is about to change.

My Opinions:
With each book, Kierney Scott adds depth to her characters, and in particular, to Jess, who continues to grow as a person, gradually learning to trust and let others in…just as we all do. This is what makes these books so good. Scott has a real handle on people’s emotions and reactions, and she makes the reader really feel these traits in her characters.

A couple of things…it might have been a little too much corruption to be believable, and it was a little reminiscent of one of  Kim Stone's cases by author Angela (although that is not necessarily a bad thing).  As well, with all of Jess’s injuries I wonder how she functioned at all. Then again, it is fiction. One other thought which keeps nagging at me. The end seemed a little rushed as Scott tried to sew everything up into nice little packages…and yet nothing was said as to Jess’s injuries?

In the end, I loved it. The writing is good, there is lots of action, and it is an easy read.

Definitely entertaining. I recommend the series, but these really must be read in order to get the real feel for each character. I am really looking forward to the next book.

It’s been awhile since I read the first 2 books, but I do remember enjoying them. This one missed the mark for me though. It begins when Jess receives a call from her boss asking her to check up on her nephew. When Jess goes to this elite school to find him, she sees more than she bargained for. This starts a whirlwind investigation. Perhaps too much of one. I don’t remember Jess being so screwed up. She was out of control in this book, too much that I didn’t enjoy reading about her. The investigation seemed too far fetched also. I found quite a few things repetitive, the story seemed rushed, and then it ended suddenly with a perfect bow. I’m not sure I want to continue reading about Jess Bishop. This might be the end for me.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Catch Your Death, the third novel to feature FBI Agent Jessica Bishop.

When Jess’s supervisor, Jeanie Gilbert, reaches out to her and asks her to check on the welfare of her nephew, Levi Smith, Jess immediately heads out to his exclusive school, Gracemount Academy but arrives too late as Levi has committed suicide, the fifth boy since the summer to do so. As Jess starts investigating this slew of suicides she meets something far darker than she could imagine.

I thoroughly enjoyed Catch Your Death which is a tense, action packed thriller with plenty of twists and turns. It doesn’t score particularly highly in the realism stakes but it isn’t intended to. Instead it is a high octane read with a daunting premise (which has been speculated on as being true in crime circles) and an exciting plot. It held my attention from start to finish as I rode the roller coaster with Jess. I particularly liked the irony of the ending and the way it shows the efficacy of spin.

Jess Bishop is a very troubled woman and even the FBI Director questions how she passed the psychological evaluation. Cheating is the simple answer, she knows the answers they look for and is happy to supply them. Jessica is a rule follower but the trauma of discovering at a young age that her father is a serial killer has damaged her. She trusts no one, keeps her feelings to herself and indulges in one night stands with strangers. On the plus side she is dedicated to getting justice for the victims and investigates tenaciously. She is mostly a team player but in this case she and her partner investigate alone to protect the team. She is growing on me as the series progresses.

Catch Your Death is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

Call me strange but I like police officers with a certain background. They make a much more interesting character and I loved Jess straight from the start.

I totally understood the mixed emotions she felt and it made her very human. She is fierce and follows her heart. She wants the best for everyone, but seems to forget about herself.

Yesterday evening I had to read the last 20% and I often read late at night, but this one felt so creepy that I kept hearing things outside. Of course pure imagination due to the suspense, but it made the story even more real.

I absolutely loved this book and I always had the feeling that strange things happen in those rich boys schools. They really are the perfect setting for it and people with money means people with high level jobs who know how to hide what they want to keep hidden.

The only thing that disappointed me a bit was the ending. I felt it was a bit rushed and would have loved to have a more detailed explanation. I still have some questions running around in my mind, but maybe some will be answered in the next part.

This was my first book by this author and I regret that I did not read the previous parts, but from now on I will keep my eye on the ball euh book. 😉 5 stars

Thank you, Kierney Scott, Bookouture and Netgalley.

Jessica Bishop receives a call late into the night from her former boss Jeanie who requests her to find her nephew, Levi studying in the Gracemount Academy. Once she reaches there she finds him dead – apparently he has committed suicide. She soon learns that this is the fifth suicide in less than six months in this school and realises that someone wants this case to be covered up including Levi’s. As Jess begins to unravel the secrets behind the deaths, she uncovers something much more sinister at the school and she is determined to find out who is at the centre of it.

I felt like the book was a mishmash of a lot of popular thriller trope. Mysterious school, infiltration amongst the highest authority, wounded heroine, trust issues and almost a national level conspiracy. Despite a good storyline it feels overly stretched to accommodate a narrative the author pulls out of thin air. Admittedly this is the third book in the series which can be confusing for a new reader but it can be read as a stand alone with references to past books and yet it felt like the pitch of the book changed whenever it was convenient. In parts it was racy, in parts it was silly and though we could ignore all these tiny flaws the ending is pretty abrupt after bringing the storyline to a humongous climax. Everything was sorted in the end just cause.

Special Agent Jessica Bishop..."couldn't make people feel better, but she could give people answers. That was her skill, the one thing she had to offer. She could investigate and give people truth."

When asked to check on the nephew of her boss, Jeanie Gilbert, Jessica doesn't hesitate to go directly to the posh Gracemount Academy to see why Levi Smith had called his aunt who happens to be out of town. Unfortunately, he's dead -- an apparent suicide -- when Jessica arrives. When evidence starts to disappear and questions aren't getting answered, Jessica discovers that there were 4 other boys who had also committed suicide during the course of the school year. Obviously something is very wrong at this exclusive boarding school and Jessica heads up the investigation only to uncover something far more sinister with far-reaching implications and decades of buried secrets. NO SPOILERS.

Typical boarding school cabal secret society stuff with the very damaged Jessica and her team trying to figure out who's involved but getting hindered or blocked every step of the way. Jessica goes rogue as always, turns into some sort of superwoman as she executes a crazy scheme, gets injured (again) and manages to save the day even though the press outs her and has a field day with her exposure as the daughter of a serial killer with certain weird proclivities in her personal life. This is the second book I've read that features Jessica, and honestly, she's just way too much of a hot mess for me. The situation and the resolution were so unrealistic and she's not getting any better which is worrisome since she just got promoted despite breaking about a hundred laws in the process. All's fair when solving a case in the FBI?

The book is short, fast-paced and entertaining if you think of it as a superhero novel but there's no depth here in the characters or any novelty in the plot. Those who've read the first 2 in the series will probably want to get this installment to see what happens within after how things ended in book 2.
I'm not sure I'll catch up with Jessica again.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-book ARC to read and review.

This is the 3rd in the series featuring the FBI’s Special Agent Jess Bishop, but can easily be read as a Stand-alone.

Jess is heading home, late one night, when she receives a call from her supervisor, Jeanie…..she’s worried about her nephew, Levi, as she’s been unable to get hold of him by phone and feels something is wrong.

Jess heads straight way to Levi’s rather exclusive school, the Gracemount Academy, but tragically she is too late and finds his body hanging in a bathroom….apparently suicide and she learns this is not the first boy this year….

So Jess starts investigating and finds a darker conspiracy than she expected, leading her and her team into danger, just who can she trust?

Jess Bishop is a bit of a troubled woman (understandable for someone whose dad is a serial killer (albeit in jail))..and looks for peace with some dubious ‘encounters’…but she’s dedicated to her job and her team….to a fault at times…I really felt for Jamison…he tries so hard and he loves her.

I really enjoyed Catch Your Death, it’s an easy read, but has so much going on to keep you hooked, with some great, likeable characters and the impulsive and sometimes reckless Jess, real escapism and a great read. I can thoroughly recommend it.

This book started out really well for me, but then it fell flat for some reason. This is the 3rd book in this series about Special Agent Jessica Bishop and maybe I would have like it more had I read the previous two books. Special Agent Bishop seems to have a lot of issues going on which I really got tired of hearing about. I would give this book a 3-1/2 stars. For the lifestyle she chooses to live, Detective Jess Bishop sure is highly judgemental of her colleagues and the people she interacts with. (Atleast this was pretty obvious in the last two books)
While I'm really not a big fan of any of the characters in this series, the plot line is good but not anything unique or gripping. It's the way Agent Jess Bishop chooses to solve the problems is what I don't like. It's like she's trying too hard to be unlikable. She's portrayed as having "close relationships" with a select few characters and these people rarely disagree with each other. I also feel that for a Detective working in a team, she mistrusts/keeps at arms length, half her team and there's no "team spirit". And while I understand that given her history, she's guarded and has difficulties with emotions, what I find frustrating is she refuses to behave similarly with anyone else except those or get to know them better! The characters need and propensity to be the sacrificial lamb and jump in front of the first sign of danger in almost every situation feels like the author is trying too hard to make her sound "damaged". Some scenes sound straight up unrealistic.
So while I now know pretty much what makes Jess Bishop and Jamison Briggs tick after reading about her quirks over and over again, I would really like to know more about Milligan, Chan & Tina. These characters are hardly focused on.
Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Kierney Scott for an arc.

Yet another brilliant book in the Detective Jess Bishop series.
Jess is on leave but gets a call from her boss asking her to check on her nephew at a local boarding school.
What faces Jess when she arrives shocks her to the core, and brings back awful memories.
It soon comes to light that five students have seemingly taken their own lives and as Jess begins to unravel the secrets behind the deaths, she uncovers something much more sinister at the school.
There seems to be people that want to cover this up but she is determined to find out who is at the centre of it.
Jamieson is by her side when things get tough and when someone breaks into her apartment he’s there to pick up the pieces.
This is a gripping crime thriller that will take your breath away.

This was an ok read for me and maybe I would have enjoyed it more had I read the past two in the series.

The writing was good as was the premise but I’m not sure how much I like Jess and want to invest in her story. She’s an interesting character but she’s just a lot, crazy background, over the top persona, plays by her own rules...

The story itself is pretty straightforward. It takes a bit of time to get moving. There are the usual road blocks encountered. This was a decent story, but nothing new really. I would suggest you try this one for yourself as you might love it.

I very much enjoyed this book. However, it has a slow pace. It's not one of those that you simply cant put down. I felt that it was too predictable. I almost always knew what was coming before it happened.
Pros: the story itself is very good. The relationships between the main characters were well done. The backstory to Jess was done perfectly so you could get to know why she was the way she was.

Overall it's a great book. I'm thankful I was able to recieve an ARC copy and I look forward to more from Kierney Scott. :)

Very thrilling ! It had me hooked right from the get-go. Jess is such a complicated character. This is my first book in this series and so I had to connect some dots to understand Jess better.

But the plot was intriguing and with the inside-job angle, I couldn't wait to read how it all unfolded. I enjoyed reading about Jess's brilliant mind and how the investigation proceeded. The secret society - conspiracy theory angle also added a different dimension to this investigation. The only thing that had me shook that the victims were adolescent kids and to think of human-looking monsters who would target them without any regret angers me.

But I would definitely recommend this book.

When FBI Agent Jess Bishop is called by her boos asking for a favor, she can not say no, but everything will get upside down when she finds a teenager hung up in a very expensive school, the problem is that is not the first one that has killed himself. Of course she will start investigating it, but this case is much bigger than she ever expected to be.
Since the beginning this book has surprised me, Jess is not an easy person to work, she has complicated past and her social skills are not developed, but her team respects her and trusts her more than she thinks. She is the main character of the story, she is brave, intelligent and ready to sacrifice her life to uncover the truth. I really liked the other characters of her team, Jameson and Jess seem to have a deep past together, we’ll see if they work together is affected by their feelings.
It was interesting how the author tries to explain how power can corrupt people with some experiments that were done, I already knew them, but it was interesting how it was related to the case. The book talks about the suicide game that scared parents around the world after some teenagers appeared dead, a deadly game that I really can not understand their purpose; how can someone create a game making people to commit suicide?
I don’t want to make any spoiler, so I will not talk more about the case, but there are so many things to talk about…!
This is the third case of the Detective Jess Bishop, but you can read it as standalone, but I am sure that after reading this book, you’ll fall in love with the characters like me.
If you are searching for a quick read; nail bitting, gripping and addictive, start reading, you’ll not be able to put it down.

This is the third book in the series featuring FBI Special Agent Jess Bishop. Jess is a very complex and troubled person, living with the knowledge that her father was a serial killer. Again, this book can be read as a standalone but so much of Jess’s past and personality are covered in the first two books which always helps for better understanding of the characters. We find Jess taking a call from Jeanie, her boss, to ask if Jess would help her find her missing nephew Levi. Her investigations take her to his private school where she finds him hanging in his room. Everything points to suicide but his Aunt knows different. When Jess discovers that a number of other boys, friends of Levi, appear to also have committed suicide she realises that there is something deeper going on. On discovering that a secret society, The Last Supper, are behind the deaths she realises that they will do whatever they need to guard their secrets.
We find Jess still struggling with relationships and still resorting to one night stands. There certainly is chemistry between her and her partner Jamison, but can Jess let down her barriers. This is an intense and gritty thriller with really likeable characters and plenty of red herrings along the way. A highly recommended read..
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I haven't read a new series that I liked so much since I discovered Ms. Marson's Kim Stone. Jess Bishop is the daughter of a serial killer who grew up to become one of the good guys. Working for the FBI, she really cares about the victims and their families, since she feels guilty for all the grief caused by her father. This is my first book in the series (and I am literally downloading the first two installments as I type this) but I didn't feel like I was missing the backstory. The characters are all well defined so you know where they all stand without having to rely on repetitive exposition. Jess is very damaged, not only psychological but also physically, but she is so resourceful that she gets out of the most hopeless of circumstances. Really, her plight kept getting more and more complicated and she still found a way to fight back. Jess is strong and a born fighter and the rest of her team all bring something to the table. The last part was unbearably suspenseful. This is an excellent book and I'm glad to have found another series I can love and get invested in.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, NetGalley/Bookouture!

Wow what a rollercoaster of a read! This book was full of suspense and tension right from the beginning in fact it had me holding my breath in places. The words hard hitting spring to mind, the book tackles the sensitive subject of teen suicide and does it very well, it's emotional and brutal and had me turning the pages like a lunatic because I literally couldn't put the book down because it was so good. It's really fast paced and kept my interest right the way through, my mind was madly trying to keep up and guess who the bad guy was, but I didn't guess it, it was a complete surprise.

Since my cornea transplant I haven't been able to read as much and I am much slower, but I raced through this book and really put the hours in and read it in record time. That shows how bloody brilliant this book is, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would recommend that you read the books in this series in order as there is a lot of history and back story to Jess and her team and I feel that you will get a better reading experience if your know the full story.

I don't hesitate in giving Catch Your Death 5 stars it really was a fantastic read. In fact if I could give it more I would, it's easily worth an 8. Give this series by Kierney Scott a go, you will not be disappointed!

This is the 3rd book about FBI Special Agent Jessica Bishop, and it does not disappoint. The main character is an extremely scarred woman trying to run from her past and avoid confronting the emotional rollercoaster inside her. She has dealt with great loss, and she seems doomed to a life of pain and loneliness. This book picks up shortly after the end of the last book in the series. Jess is suffering from a terrible hand injury from her last case and the loss of two friends (one to death and the other to unbelievably complicated circumstances -- read the last book). Faking her physical and emotional healing, Jess is allowed back on the job in order to deal with a bizarre case involving her boss' nephew. Through twists and turns, the plot takes the reader on a fast-paced race to uncover the truth and salvage what's left of Jess' career. The heart-pounding excitement is wonderful, but the denouement seems a bit too easy and quick. I hope there is yet another episode in Jess' story. Too many questions are left unanswered, and I want Jess to find the peace and happiness she deserves.

I read the first book in the Jess Bishop series & was rather disappointed so I missed the second one. When I started this one, I didn't realise that it was in that series. It was the storyline in the blurb that appealed.

Special Agent Jess Bishop is asked by her boss to check in on her nephew. Levi attends a prestigious boarding school & was supposed to have spoken to his aunt. Jess goes to the school & discovers that young man is dead- he has killed himself in the showers.

On investigation it seems that Levi isn't the only one who had died whilst under the school's care. A frightening Social Media Game- The Last Supper- seems to be encouraging teens to take their lives. There is a conspiracy of silence & soon others start to die.

I found this a much more engaging book than Forget me Not. I still found it quite hard to like Jess, but Jamieson makes up for her flaws!

Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

Catch Your Death is an intense thriller, mystery and the third in the series for Jess Bishop FBI Agent who just happens to be a serial killer's daughter . Not so far fetched if you look at today's true crime books.

Jess and her team are looking into the apparent suicide of Levi, her bosses nephew , who is one of 5 teenagers in the same school to die.

The action is fast, the atmosphere is tense and the pages fly by.

I have only read this book in the series but I am so going to purchase the first two in the series.

It is a very entertaining read, maybe a bit far fetched at times, but that is what makes the book. A very unique story and I can't wait to read the next in the series. (You can read it as a stand alone but having not read the others, I wish I had )

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and get lost in Catch Your Death.
