Sub Mission #2

Sins of Omission

Rate this book
Ari’s heart was broken three years ago when the love of his life rejected him. Eli may have had his reasons—they may have even been good ones, but now he’s shown back up in Ari’s life, making outrageous claims on him and all Ari wants to do is run. Unfortunately, he flees right into the arms of some would-be kidnappers and has to rely on Eli to save him. Despite his father’s and his agency’s fears for Ari’s safety, he insists on going on with his life, which includes an upcoming vacation and not giving in to fears for his safety. The only problem is the agency wants to send Eli along with him as an all too willing bodyguard. This is so not what Ari had in mind when he signed up for a gay cruise!

Eli has been in love with Ari for years and has just been waiting for him to be old enough to be claimed. He’s waited as long as he can and he’s not willing to wait a second longer. Now if he can just convince Ari to let him back into his life, and if he can just hide his deepest desires from Ari so he won’t frighten him away, this just might work out. Eli quickly awakens a passion in Ari that neither of them ever knew existed, an undeniable attraction that could match his own hidden needs.

Add in a hot Caribbean cruise, pink lace, ropes, romance and even another kidnapping attempt, and it’s a recipe for a sexy adventure that just might bring them both everything their hearts desire.

I liked this second chance romance story. It was steamy, had age gap and elements of BDSM. What more does a girl need?

I loved Eli. He was put in a tough position, he had to make a choice he knew Ari would hate him for but in the end he saved not only Ari but himself. I loved his persistence, his possessive attitude and how he was willing to forget that integral part of himself for the sake of love. I really felt for him when Ari constantly threw fits and acted like a 15-year old. He was always patient and thoughtful.

Arizona aka Ari was a bit of a contradiction. I think because of his brilliant mind he was thrown into grown-up world way before he was ready. And that's why he made error in judgement when he met Eli the first time. There were moments though that I really didn't like how he was acting towards Eli. I wanted to shake him but then he would snap out of it and act like the rational young man he was supposed to be.

I enjoyed their power play, how expertly Eli showed him that what he thought about himself was different, and that different was good and nothing to be scared of. Eli's particular kink is something that I like reading about so this was another bonus for me but I wish there were more moments about it in the book. I loved that I got to see Seth and Baker, they brought some naughty fun and friendly attitude. The ending has a curve ball thrown that made me want to read the next book like right now. It was very unexpected and I loved it ending exactly like this. So, I really liked this book and I am definitely looking forward to reading next one in the series.

Meh

This is an ok read. Nothing special. The writing style was a little too sappy for me and Ari came across as a petulant child.

I was disappointed with this book, well not the book itself, with Ari. He tried so hard to act like a grown up, that most of the time the effect was completely opposite. I had wondered repeatedly why Eli loved him so much. What was so special about him that earned Eli's devotion. He deserved so much better. :(

Only 9% in and I’m already hating all the paragraphs of explanatory dialogue that are helping to set up the backstory. It’s unfortunately one of the reasons I didn’t love book 1. I do love an age gap so I’m giving book 3 one chance to wow me or I’m done with this series. :(

Sins of Omission Arc provided courtesy of LesCourt
All reviews are voluntary and my honest opinion.

This falls right into a number of my favorite tropes -- bodyguards, BDSM, shibari, ust.

Arizona is hyper intelligent, but he has low self esteem, he's attractive but doesn't realize it, and he's been in love with Eli since he was sixteen.

In an -- excessively dramatic move -- when Eli finds out Ari didn't disclose his actual age, sixteen, he vows to stay away from him until Ari turns twenty one. He doesn't bother telling Ari, and breaks it off with a note, so his reappearance is a bit of a shock.

I like the story, I enjoyed the connection between the characters. I was less charmed by the repetitive lack of communication, and dramatic, and childish runaway behavior, but, not enough to be put off the book.

I wanted Ari and Eli to get their hea. I want more of the series. Most of all, I want these two to learn to sit down and discuss their relationship issues.

I also want to know if Eli likes his gift at the end of the book, since we were left hanging. I'd recommend this. Pretty tame kink. A bit of shibari, some exhibition, mild D/s.

This book really pissed me off and I almost quit several times. Ari is not a likeable person at all and he's willfully obtuse which I don't appreciate. He lied to Eli but felt no remorse, later he sort of apologizes for lying about being underage when they met but again in the end says he wouldn't have changed what he did. Yet when he finds out Eli lied lied to him he refuses to forgive him even though Eli forgave Ari for his lie. Eli is ready to change himself and give up what he loves (bdsm) for Ari who to me is nothing but a irritating brat. Not and endearing character at all. And Ari running off at the end without giving Eli the chance to explain really really pissed me off. I actually would have liked it better if Eli had invited that man over to do a scene since Ari didn't like bdsm but instead the man was only there to purchase Eli's kink equipment. I think that would have been better than the red herring plot where Ari sees a strange man in a business suit in Eli's apartment and runs away without asking who he was and why he was there. More drama is dropped right at the end for the next installment but I have no interest in continuing. 2.5 ragey stars. Too bad because some parts of this were entertaining.

The writing is wonderful, everything AROUND Ari was fantastic, I just COULD ... NOT ... STAND Ari!! Just didn't think Ari deserved Eli!!! Eli on the other hand was absolutely magnificent!!!

This rating has nothing to do with the author OR her writing, I just couldn't stand how immature, obnoxious, or bratty Ari was!!! The "straw" that broke the proverbial camel's back was how dismissive and disdainful Ari was when referring to BDSM or Kink lifestyle, which in the end he ended up absolutely LOVING and ADORING, so go figure!! I am not a part of either lifestyle, but I am definitely of the opinion that just because something isn't for you, or just because you don't understand something, does NOT give you the right to be an asshole toward something someone else loves!! Be fucking respectful!!! So yeah, Ari ended up LOVING it [Shibari], but the damage was done - I couldn't stand Ari, and it was too little too late for me :-/!!! I'll be clear, it isn't that I had a problem with Ari's struggles in LIFE as a whole, he'd be a flawed character, which is completely fine ... seeing positive development is wonderful! No, I had a problem with how Ari treated Eli, which turned him from flawed character to SHITTY character ... he treated Eli like crap a lot of the time [though he also claimed Eli was the love of his heart, his soul, his life, and he loved him completely and desperately], but again, still acted like a little shit, and I just could NOT take it!!! I was done!!

I will DEFINITELY be reading the next book in the series though and will keep an eye out for more, for sure :-D!!! Adore this author's writing and this author's writing style, it's only ARI who ruined this book for me!!

I wanted to love it...

I loved the first book so much but this one I really did not like. This might get *SPOILERY***

It reminded me of too many MF books I read where there is the BIG MISUNDERSTANDING and then neither MC talks it through and hides from one another. This happens twice in the book. One time in their past and then again in the present. Had they not learned anything!?!?
Also, to go from virgin to hard core exhibitionist in one chapter was quite the leap..Plus, their relationship was based on many lies that I just felt the connection between Eli and Ari was off...like why do they even like each other in the first place. They are more apart than together in the book so you never really find out.
Also..the way it ended.. uh no.

I love this author normally so I’m just going to assume this is a one off.

3.5 for Eli & Ari’s story. This was a solid follow up from book 1 which focused on Eli returning and Ari growing up. I was a bit frustrated by Aris behavior - felt like a spoiled brat on occasion, and I thought Eli really needed to get that sorted ! It was an easy read, minimal angst with an interesting ending !!!

“I love you…always have and always will…you’re mine.”

T.S. McKinney's Sub Mission was one of my top 2018 reads, and I have been patiently (not really) waiting for Ari and Eli’s story. Sins of Omission has just the right amount of snark, romance and kink to tie (wink wink) it all together. This reader LOVED it! Highly recommend!

I liked the interactions between Ari and Eli. The trust and love for each other is unsteady, balancing on an edge. Both of these men have been hurt terribly, but they want back what they once had.
The men have differing views on BDSM and how it will fit into their relationship going forward. Can Eli do without it? Will Ari learn to embrace it?
A fun and sexy romance with a side of intrigue and suspense. It has likable characters who you want to see get their HEA.
OMG that ending!! I totally didn't see that coming... I really hope the next book is ready for release soon.

Ari and Eli first meet when Ari is quite young. After waiting for Ari to become of age Eli renters Ari's life. Ari is still heartbroken by Eli's absence and is not ready to forgive and move on.
When trouble comes to visit Ari, Eli is assigned to protect him.
This story is full of action, heat and love. I really enjoyed this story.

This was not a good read. I understand how most readers seem to be more annoyed at Ari than Eli, but I'm the complete opposite. Ari was a sweetheart. Was he young? Yes. Did he act immature? Yes. Was it understandable? Yes. He's young. He's still growing and learning who he is. That is all completely understandable, and why I don't usually like reading about such young MC's. Even most New Adult books have the MC's be at least 2 or 3 years older than 19.

My issues were all with Eli. I hate MC's that act as if they know what the other MC wants even without any conversation or communication. And despite Ari telling Eli numerous times to leave and that he didn't want him there, Eli just kept on pushing. That drives me up the wall. Eli kept telling us that Ari was young, and didn't know what he wanted, and that Eli was more mature and had to wait, but I never saw all that much maturity. I'm not even sure I know how old Eli actually is, so I don't how big this age gap is, and how important it should be.

Eli's constant internal and external monologues of how he thought Ari would be "all grown up now" were short-sighted, self-absorbed and not how reality works when it comes to "growing up." It felt more that he wantedAri to be more 'grown up' than he was because he wanted him. Not because he wanted what was best for Ari.

His "omissions" (read: lies) to Ari about his lifestyle were disgusting, and trying to coerce someone into kink is so not ok, I can't even explain how upset it made me. You can explain to someone and tell them what you want to do, but at the end of the day they need to say yes (with whole hearted consent). Despite Ari ending up liking the kink, the way it was introduced and handled was 100% not ok.

I liked the first book in this series, but this was terrible and not what I wanted for either of these characters and to that end I will not be reading the next book in this series, especially as that book has a MC that is even younger than Ari.

Grrr, Goodreads, I need half stars! This book is a solid 3.5 in my books

Pink... oh my, I have come to appreciate that colour in a whooooole new way thanks to this book! I admit, I've read this series out of order. I haven't read Sub Mission yet, but when I had the chance to read Sins of Omission I jumped at the chance, and I'm so glad I did. This book was a fun, kinky, luscious read!

Arizona was turning 20 in a few short days and what did he have to show for it? He was brainy, yes, already finished college and working in a really cool IT job for a really cool protection agency but he was still the same socially awkward loser that had lost the only man he'd ever loved by being too young. But 20 was gonna be his coming out party to himself - he was gonna go on a cruise, get laid and finally get over Eli Wallace!

Eli had fallen hard and fast for college student Ari, only to discover that he was younger than Eli had thought. MUCH younger. Seventeen years old to be exact. It hadn't stopped Eli from loving him but it had stopped him from doing anything else because there were some lines that Eli wouldn't cross. Instead he'd dropped out, packed up and left Ari in order to stop himself from crossing that line.

Three years later, Eli is back. Ari is turning 20 and Eli is ready to claim his man. And then someone tries to kidnap Ari... and Eli is assigned to protect Ari, who is having none of that! Ari tries to avoid Eli, going so far as to ditch one cruise for another one - a gay cruise - with a fake id and the whole nine yards. He fails. And during the cruise Eli and Ari take the first tentative steps towards a relationship. Eli makes Ari promise to be honest with him from now on but... doesn't follow his own rules.

Misunderstandings and broken hearts ensue, only to be mended during a rather kinky interlude in a BDSM club. But even as things are starting to look rosy, Ari's had 2 kidnapping attempts and there is still a threat out there... a Russian threat.

A Tangled Web?
I will say that I haven't read the first book, Sub Mission yet, but I fully intend to go and borrow it in KU to read as I do like my BDSM tales, most especially the MM ones as the guys generally tend to play a bit harder than some of the MF romances do most of the time. I enjoyed this book quite throughly, and I'm rather partial to romances that feature an age gap between the Dom and Sub. This one was quite intriguing as Ari was underage at 17 when the couple first met since he's a genius who finished high school and college early, even earning his masters and post-graduate degree in record time. Eli could have landed in some serious trouble if he hadn't walked out of Ari's life when he did.
Fast forward three years and Eli, now working for his sister's security company where both Ari and Ari's father also happen to work, walks back into Ari's life just in time to save him from an attempted kidnapping.
I love how Eli appoints himself as Ari's personal protection and knows Ari better than Ari realizes...following him on to the birthday escape Gay Cruise when Ari attempts to outwit his bodyguard...epic fail! There are some very amusing scenes, lots of sexy scenes, but also a few places where the story gets a bit bogged down in their past relationship drama, not too badly though, but Ari does seem a bit whiny and hung up on all the ways he thinks Eli did him wrong for too long on the cruise ship. On the whole, quite enjoyable and very well-written. Recommended if you're a KU user and a fan of BDSM MM romance and age gap romances.

Sins of Omission by author T.S. McKinney is the second book in the Submission series. You do not have to read these in order to understand this story.
This story is written in dual POV. I particularly am partial to dual POV it allows it me into the heads of both characters without having head hopping happing.
This story gives you a ton of information right away. Eli and Ari are pretty strong characters. Eli is the dominant one. And Ari is the bratty sub. They are a whole lot more than that though. Ari is a deeply caring loving character. He feels everything, and sometimes to his detriment. He is young but, in some ways, has a very old soul.
Eli allowed the break up he and Ari had because of Ari’s age. And a whole lot of other things but it was mainly Ari was just too young for him.
I love the characters together. They are very well balanced. Ari is impulsive, and prideful, while Eli can be the more stable, rotational one.
The ending is a cliff hanger of sorts. The love story is tied up nicely (there is an intentional pun there for those of you who have read this story) But the ending does have a huge loose end to tie into a future book. So overall I loved this read and highly recommend it. Will be looking for more in the future.

Having read some other reviews comparing this to book one, I'd like to say I haven't read Sub Mission so this is completely based on reading this book alone.
I enjoyed the story and dynamic between Ari and Eli. Both needing to forgive the other over their past but needing to move forward in order for Eli to protect Ari from possible kidnapping. Their past puts up roadblocks, mostly for Ari, along with his social awkwardness. Eli's love for Ari shines through in his actions and interactions between them show something simmering just below the surface. You can feel the attraction between them but there was also a slight annoyance with the constant misunderstandings or miscommunication between the two. There are several occurrences but there is still a good plot for the story that is enjoyable to read with a few highs and lows throughout.
The characters are interesting and the BDSM kink of shibari pops in on occasion, though Ari is determined that anything from that lifestyle is not for him.......at first.
I enjoyed this book and the story overall. The best part however is the very last page with something that I did not see coming! Highly recommend and am looking forward to book #3.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

TS McKinney's second book in her Sub Mission series, Sins Of Omission, is fantastic. It's a BDSM and second chance romance, with some danger thrown into the mix.

Ari and Eli were together in college, but Eli walked away without a good explanation. When he discovered that Ari was brilliant and in college, but not even 18, he had to leave. Three years later, he is back, as Ari's turning 20 and he figures he's waited long enough.

I absolutely love both men. Eli's hot, with muscles and tattoos, and he's intense in his want, need, and possessiveness of Ari. It's quite the turn-on. Ari's the gifted one, who's always been with people older than him, and has never quite fit in with people.

The way the BDSM is written in this story is a whole lot of fun. It's a slow process to get them where they are comfortable with shibari, and it's a fun ride.

As usual TS McKinney's writing is wonderful, with great characters, a fun storyline, and terrific pace.

Sins Of Omission is beautiful story of secrets, explanations, forgiveness, and understanding. It ends with a hangover of sorts. This part of the story is over, but the overall tale leads into the next book. Can't wait!

Another great add to the series. If you loved 'Sub Mission' you will love the next book in this Universe with Ari and Eli. I loved the mix these two have together, going back and forth with sassy snarky conversations. When they come together the chemistry is hot, sexy and leave you wanting more and more. Right amount of kink and sweet, these guys have their own struggles to deal with and discovering who they are. Ari is a young man living in a adult world his whole life, he has a lot to catch up on. He is sweet, salty and his inexperience is honest and fresh. Eli is a mystery you want to solve, watching him struggle with what is best for himself and Ari sometimes breaks your heart. So many great surprises and twist had me guessing the whole way and I read this in one night. Past favorites like Sam, Baker and Seth show up. Add in Landon with hopefully a new storyline for the next book and I couldn't be more excited. I did not see this coming and it is crazy amazing. Can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.

3.5* would have liked more on the plot

This book is more about the relationship rather than the investigation into who wants to kidnap Ari, in fact that plotline was left wide open in preparation for the third book.

In this book we finally find out what happens when Ari and Eli reconnect. When in college Ari omitted his age, so when Eli found out he left, promising to return when Ari was old enough. Ari is turning 20 in a week and Eli can’t wait any longer. Ari believes that he is back for revenge, so after the kidnapping attempt he runs, trying to hide from his bodyguard Eli. Ari books himself a cruise and to confuse Eli, changes his plans. This fails epically, Eli follows. Eli and Ari strike up a deal and with Eli’s help Ari discovers more about himself, and Eli does some omitting of his own, which made me feel that they both needed to Work on their communication as the plot got stuck on the past relationship making Ari seem a very whiny brat which got annoying. However with the open ending for third book hopefully we see another side to the couple.

Angst city ❤️

I loved this book so much. I could literally feel the emotions.. the elation, the doubt, the joy, and the devastation were all palpable. It made me really happy to see Arizona achieve happiness with Eli. Those two are the actual sweetest couple ever. It was really great to get some more insight into Seth and Baker's relationship. I was also super excited that this book featured some shibari! I'm really hoping because of the cliffhanger that we'll get some more rope play in the next book (fingers crossed). This book has some super steamy intimate moments, one of which may or may not involve sushi on a naked body, as well as some intense action scenes. I cannot wait for the next book!

*Just a heads up for those who require a HEA. This book ends with a cliffhanger!*

This is the well-written sequel to Submission. Though you don't have to read them in order as they're about different characters, I encourage you to read the first book as it's great.

Ari and Eli are a second chance couple. They fell in love years ago, only then Ari was lying about one important thing--his age.

There's action, there's love, there's steamy scenes, and there's brilliant writing. I don't normally read second chance romances, but I fell in love with Ari in the first book and I wanted to see him get a happily ever after. TS McKinney is a brilliant writer and can weave a story with her characters that keeps the reader enchanted. The characters are fleshed out and you could feel their emotions as they tried to do what was right for themselves and each other. There's just enough action to keep things believable, and characters who seem realistic.

I enjoyed this second chance MM romance & found the plot well-written & intriguing with the complexity of the main characters (Arizona aka Ari, the bratty submissive & Elijah aka Eli, the stern yet playful dominate) the secondary characters (Baker & Seth) offer some good support.
There is: twists & turns, intrigue, drama, threats, danger, enemies, deceit, physical conflict, attempted abductions, memories, attractions, verbal conflict, BDSM, shibari kink/rope play, spanking, emotional turmoil, confusion, defiance, insecurities, mischievousness, determination, misunderstandings, devious plans, happiness, love, steamy scenes & a very interesting confrontation in the epilogue. I look forward to the next book with great anticipation.

This was a great sequel to Sub Mission, Seth and Baker's story. This one had much less BDSM, and there were so many instances that could have been cleared up with better communication between Ari and Eli. I still enjoyed the book immensely and rooted for these guys to make things work. I loved Eli's absolute devotion to Ari, and I had to laugh at Ari's sassy attitude when he was feeling confident with Eli. I'm looking forward to seeing this relationship continue to grow. I can't wait to learn more about the surprise reveal at the end of the book, and find out what's going on with Landon and the model he's protecting in Milan. The author kept me engaged and wanting more, and I would not hesitate to recommend these books.

Eli is back to claim his love, because it was not time for him and Ari to be together. Ari was left heartbroken but because of a lie he told that unfortunately meant they could not be together. But now they are coworkers, Ari runs and Eli follows right into danger, luckily they are able to be ok. But Ari is endanger who does not want protection and wants to enjoy his fun and experience pleasure. Luckily Eli follows him and while he is there to protect he also offers to show Ari what can happen once they allow their passion to come between. Eli makes a lie to have Ari open to him which causes yet other issues between them. However, with Ari's life on the line this pushed the characters to embrace their love and joy together.

This book wasn’t as good as I was hoping. While Ari is funny, sarcastic and snarky he was also much more immature than I was expecting.

Young for his age, Ari has always been ahead of the curve due to his intelligence. Unfortunately that meant that he was always in an older age group which made him super socially awkward. Eli and Ari met and fell for each other in college, until Eli learned Ari’s real age and he had to make the decision to leave before he found himself in trouble with the law.

Meeting again a few years later, Ari has been carrying his hurt the entire time and wasn’t willing to let Eli back in. Eli was determined to win back the one he’s always loved, and wasn’t going to let Ari stand in the way.
