About the author

Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.

Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.

We don’t judge me for reading a ton of children’s books in 2024, because I decided to read a bunch of books from my family’s play room. I don’t know, I probably just wanted to read the most books. Would not recommend doing this. It sucked, and was very boring. I will not be doing this ever again. (Same applies to all children’s book read in 2024)

This book helps children understand what to expect when going to a veterinary appointment with their pet. The narrative is so ple and the illustrations are cartoonish and cute. It's a solid entry in the beloved Biscuit series.

This book will help toddlers and preschoolers children understand why routine visits to the doctor are important for healthy living. If they have pets it will make them realize that even pets need to be cared for and it is their responsibility as owners to keep their pets healthy.The book will also help ease the anxiety of taking shots.

Extension
After reading the book invite a veterinarian to come visit the children. He or she can explain how important it is to keep pets healthy and answer some questions children may have. Also the class may decide as a group to have a class pet and take care of it as a class.

This book is a good one that helps explain to children the importance of taking a pet to the vet. And helps them to know the vet isn't a bad person and they won't hurt their pet. the little girl takes Biscuit to the vet and helps him to understand all the things the vet does to him and all the various animals he sees.
