Based on Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair , the sequel to the original Danganronpa , the manga series Ultimate Luck and Hope and Despair contains many scenes only hinted at in the game!

I liked being able to see Nagito's nightmare but I think I would have liked to see more of the fun house. It made the ending feel rushed and disjointed. The last two pages or so were perfect though.
Review for all three mangas here though mostly the third.
So these manga's are essentially the story of SDR 2 from Nagito's point of view. This is an awesome idea in theory however in practice it falls short. I can forgive how the twists of the first trial as well as who is the killer being given away as this series is clearly meant to be a companion to the game rather than a replacement for it. What bother's me is how it was cut off so soon. We don't even get to see INVESTIGATION 3 much less the trial or anything after that. Not getting to chapter 4 deducts some points for me as that is one of my favorites for the emotional weight of it all. I guess we kind of already saw things from Nagito's point of view in the game when we played as him for the investigation, but WHAT ABOUT CHAPTER 5. I would have LOVED to see the whole story of Nagito's master plan, not just the rushed bit at the end, like man, I would have killed to see him enter Nazumi Castle and the Ancient Ruins! Overall I find it an interesting but unnecessary companion. And they left out too much important stuff at the end.

It was okay. Skipped two trials and would have liked to see Nagito’s attitude change towards Hajime and learn more about his master plan, but it was cut short. Still can’t get over how ugly the art is either.
I think this was the most interesting volume of all. It was also the thickest. It focuses on chapter 3 and the disease incident and doesn't go further than that. What you get is a special part in the form of a game and a nightmare. So, Nagito finds out about Junko and the previous killing game in his sleep but when he wakes up he forgets all about it. Then there is a skip and you dont get to see the murders happening. But there is a panel where Nagito tells Hajime that he loves him and the hope that sleeps inside him. and then briefly you see what happened in chapter 5.
I have mixed feelings about this ending. I wanted more. I wanted to see the funhouse. and I was hoping for some Komahina moments!
The first part is a rather emotional scene at the end of Chapter 2 (done quite well). Then everyone gradually falls ill with Despair Disease, and in the end, the remaining two chapters are skipped altogether--Chapters 3 and 4 are glossed over in an extremely stream-of-consciousness manner, jumping straight to Nagito himself deciding to die... If that's the case, then why on earth did they use so much space to describe Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 at the beginning!!!? There are three books in total, and Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 take up half of them—doesn't that seem really odd? Ofc the storyboarding of the final stream-of-consciousness part is quite well done but I just can't get it.
Honestly I can't tell if I really liked or kinda didn't like this book, it was good and disappointing in some parts but for the most part I think I liked it a lot. I love how the story is told through komaedas perspective but also the end felt very rushed, we didn't see the murder Milan commits in the game or most of the other deaths that happened along with komaedas death as well. But overall I can't complain considering it's supposed to be told through his perspective. I really liked this book overall 4 stars

ok i know nagito is incapacitated for chapter 3 and that’s why we didn’t see the investigation or anything and i did really appreciate going into his mind for his sickly delusions but why the hell did it just end like that LMAO chapter 3? chapter 4? who is that? i am just in love with you and the hope inside you!
the short look into chapter 5 was probably my favourite part, but everything felt so rushed in this volume especially considering how drawn out the other two were LOL
anyways this was still fun regardless

I love this book! Especially since it's written in Nagito's perspective instead of Hajime's like the game! I love the art style too!
SPOILERS: I am very sad Peko died. I wanted Peko to live longer. She's so cool and underrated and deserved more book time! I'm also sad Nagito died. I defiantly would have liked for him to have survived. Other than that, love the book!
While I enjoyed seeing the story from Nagito's perspective, there is a large chunk of the story missing in this final volume. That was so disappointing to me and also made this volume feel very rushed. That being said, Nagito is an interesting character and I'm glad to have this in my collection.
It’s a really good book it’s one of my favs it’s like a murder mystery game I’m obsessed with this book the video games and the anime if you into Gory stuff or murder mystery’s this book is for you :)
A terrible retelling of the first half of the game. Very wordy for no reason and it takes forever for things to happen. I also hate how some characters talked. It’s so weird that it mentions the titty typhoon murders but nothing about it… and then jumps forward?
i love the last few chapters where you really get to see what was going on in komaeda's mind during him having the despair disease. especially the dream part
I love that this series isn’t just the game rewritten. It adds a bit more to the storyline and let’s you know more about Komeada’s thought process. Although I am sad it skipped the fun house.
I read it the wrong way round from vol3-1 but the story is just as the death. However, the game definitely details out Nagito’s death more precisely than the manga (as expected since this was Nagito’s perspective). Overall good read

I really liked this one! Nice end to this manga series. It was really interesting to Danganronpa 2 from Nagito's point of view so i would defiantly read this again.
