Hard to rate a cookbook and instruction manual, but this was not easy to read. The hand printed letters were neat enough, but too stylized. Photos would have been beneficial too.
This book is a highly practical guide to drying your own food...everything from herbs to fruits and vegetables to meat, along with extremely good plans in the back for constructing your own dryer. No need to buy expensive electric dehydrators! The whole book is hand-written! Yes! Hand-written and illustrated! It's very homey and you feel like you're getting advice from a good friend as you read through. Now that we're getting so many fruits and veggies through our CSA and backyard garden, this book has opened a whole new avenue of potential ways to preserve our bounty!
One of the more intriguing time capsules from 1977, this slim cookbook is entirely self-inked, and I wish my handwriting looked that cute. Additionally, a majority of the pages have illustrations of anthropomorphized fruits and vegetables, holding hands and looking ecstatic at the prospect of being dried, powdered and crumbled into soups and oatmeal. It's about as weird as it sounds, yet somehow totally works.
