WTF!? Seriously, what kind of hero is that?
I hate, HATE when the “supposed” hero does things like he did.
Not to mention that in the beginning his actions were not encouraging, well it only worsened for me in the following pages...
It was enough for me so I'm calling it quits.

In theory this should have been just my cuppa tea but sadly Kynan (I really can't call him the hero!!) ruined it for me. The book starts off with him having sex with another woman - no issues there, he was footloose and fancy free. What I abhorred was that he did it in front of a woman who was deeply traumatised after being attacked and almost strangled by her stalker, and who also happened to be his ex. Who does that? A bloody big fat baby who had issues because she dumped him (rightly or wrongly) TWELVE years ago. Seriously? He continued to be an utter, unadulterated arsehole to her, and she's such a bloody push over she let him! What an odious pillock he was.
There was no grovel, no real apology either. Instead it was all just brushed away or disregarded. Hello - can you say underdeveloped plot? What should have been an angst filled feels-fest fizzled into almost nothing, though we did get the momentous TSTL occasion where she almost got herself killed ..... again. Sigh.
Another thing that annoyed me, if you're going to write the character as British then get the terminology right. Sodden is wet, soggy, saturated. SODDING (British slang) was the correct word to use.

My mind races, trying to remember if I ever learned anything from watching MacGyver about how to help me out of this situation. Without a paper clip, it seems hopeless.
My Review:
Joslyn had it all, a successful career, a bank full of money, lovely homes, a dangerous stalker, a bitter ex, and a deceitful stepmother. Yikes, I’ll stick to my quiet life of obscurity, thank you very much. The storylines alternated between suspense and sensual romance, with a side order of family drama for additional flavor. The book was written from a dual POV of the two main characters of Kynan and Joslyn, who honestly, were not totally likable. Kynan may have been a sexy Brit with a swoony accent yet he was also a crass prick, and Joslyn was all too gullible. I did pick up a new word for my Brit Vocabulary List with a word I’ve noticed often but never actually knew exactly what it meant - duffer - which according to Kynan means a useless person. Joslyn Meyers is a world famous actor and singer in Hollywood. Originally from Montana, she’s now a celebrity living in Santa Barbara. Her life is thrown into chaos when she suddenly has a crazy stalker after her. He’s been harassing her for a while, but she didn’t realize what a real threat he was until he made an attempt on her life. She’s in serious danger and she knows she needs help. There are a lot of great security firms out there, but the only person she trusts to protect her is her ex Kynan McGrath. He owns and runs Jameson Force Security, and he’s the best. She hasn’t seen him in about a decade, but she has to convince him to take her case.
Kynan McGrath lives and works in Vegas where his company has became the go-to private security contractor. He recently decided to expand their covert operations part and they weren’t focusing as much on celebrities, so when his ex Joslyn shows up in Vegas wanting him to guard her he first says no. Then he learns how serious things are and decides he’s the one for the job. He would catch the psychopath that was after Joslyn, and then they would part ways. He would keep things professional and there would be nothing between them but business. She’s nothing but a client, but that doesn’t mean he can deny how beautiful she is or how she still has the power to affect him after all these years.

Code Name: Genesis is the first book in the Jameson Force Security series but you've read this author's Wicked Horse Vegas series then you are already well acquainted with Kynan. I've been dying to get his story since I started that series so then when I learned his book was also going to be starting a whole new series I was even more excited. He and Joslyn have also already had two novella's, one in the Cock Tales anthology and then a crossover novella, Wicked Force. I haven't read the novellas but I had no problem reading this book without those. This book was fully set in the present so it's not needed to read those if you don't want.
When this book opens up it's been 12 years since Kynan and Joslyn last saw each other. But the chemistry between them is still pretty heated, even if they don't want it to be, and being forced together while Joslyn's life is in danger only adds to that. I loved seeing how they were both fighting the attraction that was there, both for their own reasons, and it really added a lot of intrigue to the story.
We also got to meet a few new characters that will eventually get their own story and now I'm even more ready to get the rest of this series. I can already tell that these characters are going to have brilliant books. Overall, this is a great start to a new series and a definite must read.

So I've had time to think about this one and what I want to say...
I love Sawyer Bennett as a writer. All her books have been page turners for me. Sometimes I have trouble with her heroines, never with her heroes. But to be truthful, I wasn't in love with this hero, Jameson Force Security owner Kynan McGrath. I mean he was ok, sometimes a bit assholish, but he just didn't wow me. There was one thing that bugged me about him--and this was plot related--but made me think that his early relationship with the heroine, pop singer Joslyn Meyers, wasn't that important to him. Let me backtrack...
So Joslyn and Kynan had a relationship 12 years ago when she was 19 and he was 26. She was a rising pop star and he was part of her security detail. The relationship was serious and lasted for months before Joslyn abruptly called it off and effectively disappeared from his life. We're told than Kynan took it badly. But he never went after her. Never demanded a reason why. Let 12 years pass, never really followed her career. Just carried a chip on his shoulder and never tried to have another relationship with a woman. She comes back into his life when a stalker is after her and she wants the best security (naturally Kynan's company) to catch this guy. He's resentful at first, and tries to hurt her emotionally. Until he realizes that he does still have feelings for her, but does she have them for him?
To her credit, the author doesn't drag it out and we find that the breakup was set in motion by outside forces. I'm giving Joslyn a pass since she was only 19 and naïve--she believed something about Kynan told to her by someone who she thought wouldn't lie to her. But I can't understand why Kynan just let her go. Did he think poorly of himself, thinking that of course no one could love him? Was there something in his past that made him accepting of rejection? And then I got to doing a bit of research, and found that there is a novella that these two characters were a part of--should I have read that first? Maybe the answers were in that book?
Maybe I'm just being nit-picky, but the fact that he just let her go made me think that their earlier relationship wasn't that special. And it made me a little doubtful about their rekindled relationship.
Anyhow, the rest of the story was pretty typical of an RS: crazy stalker after the heroine and the hero vows to protect her and that NOTHING will happen to her on his watch...uhoh, you know what that means. The heroine makes a too stupid to live decision which puts her in peril. Sigh.
No real complaints about the writing or the heat between the H/h. Being the first book in the series, there was some set up involved and introduction of future main characters--I'm especially interested in reading a story about computer hacker Bebe. There's that to look forward to.
So maybe not one of my very favorites from SB, but a solid read.
An extra 1/2 star for her shout out and beautiful description of Pittsburgh.:)

Kynan is just so kick ass!!
I've been so looking forward to this book. Kynan first came into my life yes my life back in the first Wicked Horse Vegas book. He has been popping up in and out in that series and then finally he got his own story in Cocktales. That was just a tease at what was to come then there was more in the Big Sky crossover series Wicked Force. So you see this guy needed his book and the author has been a big tease and made me wait until now. I finally got my hands on him and wow this book was so so worth the wait.
Kynan and Joslyn's relationship as been so hard. It hasn't been smooth in any way and the way things ended wasn't great either. But now 12 years later Joslyn need Kynan more than ever. She has a stalker that has gotten way to close and she needs him. He's the only guy she trusts even though he's the one that broke her heart.
Kynan didn't think that he would even see Joslyn again and he didn't want to either. After the way she broke things off with him after they had gotten so close to each other. He didn't want to see her. But love doesn't die he had a strong connection to her in such a small amount of time. But she break that with one call. Now she needed him he wasn't goin to make it easy for her but he has a job to do. Even though she broke him he would protect her. She still meant something to him no matter what happened.
This book was amazing I luvd every bit of it. As you can tell I luv Kynan his character is brilliant. He is so alpha, strong, protective and can be a complete prat. This story was so good I really liked the twists and turns and was full of drama. I really liked the characters and the getting to know the characters that will be in the following books. I'm really looking forward to more of this series. I like that it's different to the rest of the books the authors writes. She doesn't normally do action pack book. It's more sexy and sports but I have to say I really enjoyed this and dying for more of it. I would highly recommend it this book I couldn't put it down once I started it. Bring on more of The Jameson Forces.
I've been so looking forward to this book. Kynan first came into my life yes my life back in the first Wicked Horse Vegas book. He has been popping up in and out in that series and then finally he got his own story in Cocktales. That was just a tease at what was to come then there was more in the Big Sky crossover series Wicked Force. So you see this guy needed his book and the author has been a big tease and made me wait until now. I finally got my hands on him and wow this book was so so worth the wait.
Kynan and Joslyn's relationship as been so hard. It hasn't been smooth in any way and the way things ended wasn't great either. But now 12 years later Joslyn need Kynan more than ever. She has a stalker that has gotten way to close and she needs him. He's the only guy she trusts even though he's the one that broke her heart.
Kynan didn't think that he would even see Joslyn again and he didn't want to either. After the way she broke things off with him after they had gotten so close to each other. He didn't want to see her. But love doesn't die he had a strong connection to her in such a small amount of time. But she break that with one call. Now she needed him he wasn't goin to make it easy for her but he has a job to do. Even though she broke him he would protect her. She still meant something to him no matter what happened.
This book was amazing I luvd every bit of it. As you can tell I luv Kynan his character is brilliant. He is so alpha, strong, protective and can be a complete prat. I love the start of a new series knowing we’ll get to meet a whole group of characters and experience them finding their true love over the development of the series, especially when said series is written by an author known to deliver sexy and heartfelt stories.

This one isn t for me.
It gets right into things right away.
The 'Hero' gets a phone call from a colleague to ask for help from the heroine, who then also talks to him on the phone about a life threatening stalker, while he's on the phone a ONS is stripping in his bedroom in front of him and then giving him oral. After the phone call there are no details but they have sex.
The heroine is then brought to his house for her safety where the other woman is half dressed and he begins to be intimate with her again in front of her. He highlights her risks to her safety if she leaves, he does stop but it's incredibly bad taste.
Obviously during the separation you expect them to be with other people but the heroine is bruised after her stalker broke in, plus the reuniting meet up is not easy for either of them, it's not going to help the trauma the heroine is facing to deal with his behaviour.
I get he's hurt and bitter but it's really in her face.

OK, first of all ... how do you pronounce Kynan?? Kee-nan? Kigh-nan? Künahn? LOL! I hope for the first!
I LIKED THIS BOOK!
This is going to be a great new series.
It was exciting and suspensy and mysterious and dangerous and erotic and sad and frustrating.
I hate misunderstandings! How can they be sooo in love and then just accept what someone tells them? But of course they didn't really know know each other all that well back then - they were so in lurve, but they've only known each other for a number of WEEKS! ☺
But now is the right time for that second chance - if they all survive this stalker business!☺
I really enjoyed reading this - I even cried a few times. Bebe's story is so heartbreaking!
I can't wait to get Cruce and Saint's stories!
A couple tiny things that prevented me from giving five stars - I'll put them in a spoiler thingy:
BUT - I really liked the book and I will definitely read the next ones too!

I had some problems with the writing ... as with every Sawyer book.
It's Sawyer's and my THING ☺ It's only me who has those problems with her writing. So please don't be worried or just scroll down and don't read the following...
I have a HUGE AS problem! ☺ You know the AS's I'm talking about? The AS that could/should be exchanged for a SINCE or a BECAUSE or just a comma/dot/pause/whatever.☺ It's a British and or a legal thing (if it's a thing at all!) and it doesn't have anything to do in a modern American book. Once or twice maybe. That's what other authors do every once in a while - but not 30 times!
I really don't want to insult Sawyer. I love her books, but ... please stop doing it. But pfff who am I to tell her what to do, so just forget I said anything! It doesn't stop her books from being great!

Years ago, Joslyn and Kynan fell in love. She was a music and acting superstar. He was her bodyguard. Think you've heard this story before? Think again because even I was surprised by some of the things that happened here.
Joslyn is back... and she's not alone. After being attacked in her home by her stalker, she basically begs Kynan for his help. But he's not in a very charitable mood. He's still hurt by her actions years ago. She left him without any kind of explanation and he's still messed up when it comes to her. However, she's truly in distress and he can't resist her case.
First let me tell you what I liked...
❥ the creep factor of the stalker. I liked that I couldn't figure out who it was and the smooth moves he made to keep himself unrecognizable.
❥ Bebe. This woman has been through hell and I'm excited to see her happy ending. Her reunion scene with her son and her mom was so touching.
❥ Cruce and Saint. I know they get their own books and I'm looking forward to finding out more about these intriguing men.
And that's it. Notice I left out the main characters. Here's why:
❥ Joslyn left Kynan because of a dossier that outlined he was a cheating jerk. She asked no questions. She didn't confront him. Just up and left him.
❥ Kynan's opening scene with a strange woman he met at a club... it was 10 times hotter than anything her shared with Joslyn. Yet she was the love of his life. She was the one woman he truly wanted.
❥ Kynan flaunted this one-night stand in Joslyn's face. I couldn't get past it. And even though my feelings did warm up towards him in the end, it didn't take away my distaste for his earlier behavior.
❥ Joslyn didn't trust the man she hired. The man she loved.
Overall, I obviously enjoyed this book. I will be reading the others in the series. And I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a romance with a bit of suspense and a second chance at love.

April 10, 2020To be honest, I wanted to read the newest book in the series more, but I got this first one for free, so decided to just dive in from the start.
I must admit, it's probably not the most ridiculous book I've ever read, bit it comes damn close. The writing itself wasn't bad, but the story?! My god, what happened to this story?!
I don't have any problem with how the book started (spoiler: with a hero having a foreplay with a woman, while our heroine called him to ask for his security service). See, they used to be lovers 12 years ago, but the heroine broke up with the hero back then. Now they just apparently hated each other. Her: because of WHY she left; him: because of HOW she left. Even though we didn't get to know the WHY just yet, it came later.
A cute (and a bit kinky) setting for a second chance, but also an enemies-to-lovers romance?
No.
It was supposed to be an action packed romance (or erotica) or whatever. Well, it did get a bit suspenseful, yet the execution was so bad, I felt like the author was a very young person, who kinda got an idea of how security, hacking and chasing should work, but then slammed all possible clichès in together and hoped for the best.
I think I've never read a more amateurish use of tech slang! Ever.
The main suspenseful event? Sorry, it was the dumbest thing ever and I'm not even gonna mention it (but read updates if you are really curious).
The characters went from hating to loving so fast, I could only shake my head. 12 years of resentment? Puff! Gone! Because they just got that magical CONNECTION, people. And don't get me started on the lackluster and lukewarm sex, ugh...
For whatever reason, every other side character was playing Dr. Phil here and was being very understanding, talkative and insightful (even the super badass ex-military and ex-special-force guys).
"You want to talk about it?"
"I made a mistake, I absolutely get it now!!"
"You are a wonderful man!"
"She probably did it out of love and loyalty."
Yeah.
By the way, the title was not once mentioned in the book.
I still want to read the one with a hacker, but damn, I'm just afraid it's going to be lost time again... I'm not rating this one, because I got it for free and don't want to be hateful, but if I'd bought it, it'd be somewhere around 2 stars for me.

My favouritest of favourite plots- Second chance romance with a thriller twist!
Superstar singer/actor Joslyn leaves bodyguard Kynan after a brief, intense love affair. Kynan carries an anger and hurt for Joslyn's actions, however, it's now many years later and Joslyn has a pretty creepy stalker who has now ventured closer to her life. She needs Kynan to protect her and can only trust him to save her life.
Kaynan's anger is understandable yet I felt bad for Joslyn as well. They made a great couple. There is a reason she broke it off and when Kynan finds out, he fights like hell to have her back.

This one was just okay. There isn’t a thing I didn’t dislike but there wasn’t really anything I died over either.
The hero was okay, the heroine the same. Their chemistry is decent. The plot line is expected. It was entertaining, but I wasn’t gripped by it.
It may be that I had high expectations. Suspense romance is my favorite type of Sawyer Bennett romance. And while it had those elements, I ultimately didn’t really connect with any of it.

I fell in love with Kynan a while ago when I met him at the Wicked Horse, Vegas. It wasn't until recently that I totally went head over heals for him and learned more about the man he was and how he became the man he is today and that was when I was introduced to Joslyn, in the Wicked Horse Vegas / Big Sky crossover novella Wicked Force.
Twelve years have passed since Kynan and Joslyn have seen one another but she has a crazed stalker after her and there is only one person she trusts enough to protect her, even after she left him with no explanation. Things are quite interesting at the beginning, I mean seriously after all that time if someone you loved walked back into your life asking for something without an explanation on why they left in the first place how would you react? I can tell you I wouldn't be as nice as Kynan was, and he wasn't all that nice either.
The chemistry is amazing, it's as if nothing changed in the time they were apart. They were perfect for one another then and more so now. I was happy with the way things were handled with confronting the reasoning behind their breakup and how they dealt with the aftermath. Second Chances are sometimes better because of the things you've learned about yourself and others during your time apart and I believe that this holds true for them, I think Joslyn needed to do some growing up and become more independent in order to fully appreciate being loved by someone like Kynan.
This is the first book in the Jameson Force Security Series by Sawyer Bennett so we get to meet a whole new cast of characters and I have to say some of them really have my attention and I cannot wait to hear more about them. I mentioned before that Kynan and Josyln have a novella, this does not have to be read in order to enjoy this book because everything is explained here but if you want the full experience of getting to know them and seeing how things playout in real time before this book picks up I say go for it and grab a copy of Wicked Force. Of course I liked this book it had 2 very important things going for it…..1 it’s Sawyer Bennett and 2 it is a Romantic Suspense!
I’ve read about Kynan McGrath in other books of Sawyer’s from other series’. I’ve been wanting his story and this seems to overlap with her other books. Like part of the stories from her other books are happening simultaneous to a different series.
Kynan owns a private security company called Jameson Force Security. He has recently decided to steer away from the celebrity type security and more towards covert government type stuff, so when a high profile celebrity wants his services and he doesn’t want to help her, it isn’t just that he is getting away from that type of work but also that it is the woman that broke his heart. When he hears her voice he just can’t say no.
Joslyn Meyers is a famous singer and actor living in Santa Barbara. She abruptly flew to Las Vegas after being attacked by a stalker. He’s been stalking her for several years now but has clearly elevated his game causing her life to be in serious danger. She only trusts one person to protect her and that happens to be an ex that she feels wronged by.
I really like a sexy love story with action/suspense. It almost always keeps me interested from start to finish.

𝗖𝗢𝗗𝗘 𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗘: 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗦 is Kynan and Joslyn’s story. I love this book so much! I’ve read it a few times and reread my favorites scenes. I love this couple!
This is a second chance romance novel (my favorite trope). Aside from enemies to lovers, I LOVE Second Chance Romance! The angst is so delicious.
There is actually a prequel to this series, Wicked Force. The couple separated after years of not speaking. I LOVE a second chance romance as this trope just touches my soul and gives me all the feels.
This book had it all. Explosive excitement, suspense, true love, shattering confessions and that brilliant writing Sawyer Bennet always delivers. This series is gold.
First off, Kynan sounds so insanely hot and perfect. I love the fact that Sawyer doesn’t create her hero’s to be jerks. He’s sexy, brave, sweet and treats her with respect. I love that. Kynan is a force. The way he carries himself with such confidence... and that accent... I just can't.
I loved his arrogance in the beginning and his sweet side even more. Kynan is hotness personified 🔥
I love that this book doesn’t have that cheesy misunderstanding ordeal some romance novels have. Throughout the whole book I kept thinking, wow they are handling their issues so maturely! And that’s hot AF. They worked through their issues as a mature couple which made me love them each even more.
Once they knew the truth of what caused their separation, Kynan decided to act like the man that he is. I love his maturity as well as Joslyn's.
I could read an entire book of these two just living their regular lives and be happy. There’s just that entertaining to me.
I couldn’t have come up with a better ending. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series. I’m obsessed with this series and Sawyer Bennett.

Get lost in romantic suspense…
I jumped on this new series by a favourite author! Even when they are not hockey related. Kynan was a security expert now and Joslyn was a famous singer/actress. Brought together again, they had an opportunity to rekindle their once intense romance. Too bad, it had to happen under the watch of a stalker…
Joslyn knew that finding success meant she was in the spotlight. Unfortunately, she also knew that not everyone was friendly. Fearing her safety, she knew who to call. If only he would pick up the phone… At first, Kynan wasn’t going to take her call and I couldn’t really blame him. She’d dumped him and walked away as if nothing had ever happened. Unable to ignore her, that opened up all kinds of possibilities…
I loved watching the truth come out over harrowing scenes and heartfelt conversations. The crankiness of Kynan and the acceptance of Joslyn made for a back and forth that was full of anger but also sweet, sweet love… If the stalker plotline was not surprising in how it played out, I didn’t care in the slightest. It was all about Kynan and Joslyn’s chemistry and their journey. And that journey, full of hot chemistry, forgiveness and deadly suspense, was a great read!
I’m so looking forward to more stories to come for all the team members. Including a Fournier (a tie to the Carolina Cold Fury) – oh my yes! ~Diane, 4.5 stars

Predictable ⭐️
Not going to bother with a full review on this, but here’s what you need to know:
Megastar singer and actress reconnects after twelve years with the love of her life, a sexy Brit who runs a kickass private security company. She fears for her life, as her stalker just attacked her in her home.
My issues with this novel are the following: full of clichés, plot gaps, predictable story, gullible heroine and the badass hero who suddenly falls in love and turns into a big kitten.
I enjoyed it and you’ll probably do too.
I’ll also continue the series, as I’m curious about the other guys too.
3⭐️ is the perfect rating for it, meaning is not bad, but not too good either.

Code Name: Genesis was the first book in Sawyer Bennett’s Jameson Force Security series. It was a spin-off from the Wicked Horse Vegas series.
Kynan McGrath and Joslyn Meyers’ story began in the short novella, Wicked Force. At the time, Joslyn was nineteen and an up and coming pop star and her mother/manager hired the Jameson Group as Joslyn’s security detail. Despite the seven year age difference, Kynan and Joslyn quickly fell in love and it ended with a happy for now scenario but had a slight cliff hanger. Fast forward twelve years to Code Name: Genesis and we learned they had a break-up immediately after the novella ended; which left both angry and heart broken. Joslyn was now an A-list actress and pop star while Kynan now owned the security agency. They had not kept in touch but now Joslyn was in danger and she had no one to trust but Kynan. Despite their differences, she knew he would keep her safe.
Bennett took us through the reunion and quickly filled us in on the changes within the twelve year gap, the past secrets and the current dangers. Bennett also took the opportunity to introduce the cast of characters for the Jameson Force Security Group to set the stage for the series. The characters are diverse, unique and have promise for an intriguing series.
All in all, it was well written, a fast paced read and an entertaining second chance theme with a suspenseful vibe. Cruse Britton is up next in Code Name: Sentinel.

Great start to the series. It has suspense, dual POVs, a hot second chance romance and a unique cast of characters which ensure great books to come. The hero Kynan is my favorite type of hero. A little bit A-hole, a little down and dirty but a whole lot of protective. I love Sawyer Bennett’s raunchy side, and this has it. Only downside I would have liked a little more action. Grand finale was great tho. 4 stars.
