57 books347 followersI'm the author of forty+ books for children, including the best-selling Twas the Evening of Christmas, I Wonder: Exploring God's Grand Story, The Wonder That is You, and six popular series: Love Letters from God, Snuggle Time, Little Mole, Twas, Good News and Bedtime Blessings.
Here's my little story...
Although I live in Michigan, USA, I was born and raised in a little village in northern England.
I grew up in a big old house, with two wonderful parents and seven siblings. My dad was the one who introduced me to the gospel. My mum was the one who encouraged me to work with children.
And at primary school, my teacher was the one who urged me to write. One day a week, I was one of the lucky few withdrawn from the classroom to sit in big, comfy armchairs in the teachers' lounge. There, in front of a roaring log fire, with pencil and paper at the ready, I would write.
Four long decades later, I would find myself living across the pond, married to a wonderful man, mum to four adult children and three daughters-in-law, and grandma to three bouncing boys and one gorgeous girl. And as if all that wasn’t blessing enough, I somehow became an author, despite giving up on my first book halfway through.
And if you would have told me then, that this book would one day become a series, that I would begin a second series, and a third… I never would have believed you. The only possible explanation is that our great God is able to do immeasurably more than all I could ever ask or possibly imagine.
And to God alone, be the glory.

Now I am not religious in any way at all so I read the book with an open mind and I have to say that I thought that this book was great, the religious aspects were a light touch and my daughter loved the story so for me that makes it a winner all around!
I thought that the images used were lovely and they added to the story, I liked the way that it was set out too and the emphasis on diversity and that we are all unique.
It is 5 stars from me for this one, I thought it was a fab little story! Very highly recommended!

This is such a bright, colorful, and cheerful board book for toddlers!
With simple, poetic text, and heartwarming illustrations, this book shows a family of three generations, with children contemplating how they were made, and realizing that God made their fingers, eyes, nose, hands, arms, legs, and toes. My favorite quote from this book is “From every hair that’s on my head, right down to my big toe, the good news is that God made me—because God loves me so.”
This is such a precious book that I highly recommend for children ages 1-4.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley and the book's publisher and author in exchange for my honest review, for which I am very grateful.

This is the second book I've read by this duo, the first being
Good News! It's Easter!
While Christian books aren't really my thing, I wanted to see what this one was like (particularly because I liked the illustrations in the Easter book).
This is fine for very young children who'll accept the answer "God did it" for pretty much every question they throw at you, but I'm afraid it wouldn't really go far enough for older children (unless they've already accepted that God is the answer to everything). In this sense, it's pretty much a "preaching to the choir" book; it's not going to offer much to non-Christians, especially those past the age of 4 or 5.
The illustrations are adorable, though. They're highly appealing and show a nice amount of diversity. (I'm not sure they really have much to do with God, however. They're basically just scenes of a family doing everyday things; the text could easily be swapped out for something else and the pictures would still work.)
So this is a nice book for very young Christian children. I just have to say, though, that I really don't like the part of the synopsis that talks about being "fearfully and wonderfully made". I realize that's a Bible quote, but I don't like the idea that people are teaching children to be afraid of a God that supposedly loves them. (Talk about confusing!) Thankfully, that quote isn't actually used in the book. (The book uses the New Living Translation of Psalm 139:14, which leaves out the part about fear.)
Thank you to NetGalley and Discovery House for providing a digital ARC.

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Psalm 139:14
It is wonderful news that God made me and you! And the best news ever is God's son Jesus. I am just throwing that in there! This is a delightful book to read to your kiddos. The book illustrates the diversity of us all and that makes each of us unique and special because we are loved. This book is all love and we need more of that starting in our families. Highly recommend.
A Special Thank you Discovery House Publishers and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

Bright and colourful story about who made us?
The illustrations are vivid and full of details that will prompt your child to have lots of discussion and pointing. From fingers and toes to eyes and nose.
It introduces the idea that God made us and watches over us. How we express ourselves with arms and hands and give hugs and blow kisses.
The pictures are of a family and their neighbours with creative activities to talk about build up the story.
This is a happy book within the Christian Faith.
It does not preach but shares the writer’s beliefs in a Creator God. It hangs the story on Psalm 139 v14 but a parent can share other parts of the bible to reinforce this teaching. The book does not provide these cross references but it serves well this basic Christian value and introduces young children to God as a caring, personal creator.

Wonderful, Marvelous You!
PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW ON MY BLOG: http://bookreadingtic.com/2019/10/25/... THANK YOU!
Children love hearing about themselves, so will instantly like this book because it points out how each and every part of themselves is distinctive. Little ones will adore hearing all the ways God made them special while listening to cute verses such as:
Who made my fingers wiggle so?
Who gave me ten cute toes?
Who gave me eyes to peak at you?
Who made my button nose?
Each page of this sturdy board book has adorable, colorful illustrations that point out they are specially made by God. All those special parts are shown in action while playing with grandma, during the joy of mom picking them up, and bubble baths.
Building up a child’s self-esteem will make them healthy and strong; they can never be told too much that they are a special and marvelous creation. You yourself can be special by picking up a copy of this enchanting 5-star book—I highly recommend it!

3.5 Stars: This is such a bright, colorful, and sweet board book for toddlers. The illustrations are wonderful. They are large and colourful with various children discussing how they were made and what they can do with the adults in their lives. It is a simple story with easy to understand text for younger children. I love the diversity of the families shown in this story. Basically, the story shares the belief, "It is wonderful news that God made me and you." I read this to my three year old granddaughter and she liked it, although did not interact with the story as much as I thought she might. A cute book for a Christian family library or to read in a Sunday School classroom for toddlers. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

I loved "Good News! God Made Me!" by Glenys Nellist. It is a beautifully illustrated children's book about the story of them. How God loves them and intricately wove them together in their mother's womb. It is an empowering story telling of each child's worth and unique attributes that make them who they are.

First sentence: Who made my fingers wiggle so? Who gave me ten cute toes? Who gave me eyes to peek at you? Who made my button nose? It's God who made my fingers five and counted out each toe. The good news is that God made me--and watches as I grow!
This is a board book for Christian parents (and grandparents) to share with the little ones in their lives. What you see is what you get--a super adorable board book highlighting God's creation and their uniqueness.
It's a lovely little book. I'm happy I got the chance to review it.

This book is filled with adorable, bright, and fun illustrations that accompany a beautiful message for everyone. This book will help caregivers and parents introduce children to God's love and why they will always be a beloved son or daughter to the Lord.

This book has the CUTEST illustrations around! The artwork alone makes the book such a pleasure to read with kids -- but the message is good too! I love the rhyming patterns of the text. Would make a wonderful gift for your tiny family members or friends.

Delightful book for children to read or tho read to children. A way to teach a child that they are special no matter what.

Another delightful, rhyming story by Glenys Nellist! In a sort of question and answer format, a child learns that God is our creator - wiggly fingers, button nose, strong legs, etc. The story also reassures little ones that God loves us and watches over us. Perfect for ages 1-4.

We have been reading @glenysnellist books for at least the last 5 years (Addie was about 6 years old at the time, now she is 11!). My kids still love listening to them, reading them on their own, and just looking at the illustrations. We were given the privilege of reading Glenys’ newest book (thank you, @ourdailybread ), and loved it! It is a beautiful reminder, especially for preschoolers, that they were handcrafted by our loving Creator and He has a special purpose for them. As always, Glenys relays a beautiful message through rhyme, and the illustrations are absolutely beautiful (as her illustrations always are). This is a book that you and your children will love and enjoy for years to come.

The question and answer format of this board book is great for sparking discussions with toddlers about how we are wonderfully made by God. Curious kids will be interested to spot similarities and differences among the family members in Lizzie Walkley’s illustrations. I love that the family is mixed and that Dad stays home with the baby! As an added bonus Glenys Nellist’s verses lend themselves to acting out the things we can do with our arms, legs etc. (hug, wave, blow a kiss) and children will love to add their own ideas.

A rhyming book where these kids tell of the joy of who made them and the things that delight them so. A wonderful way of expressing the presence of God in their lives and the enjoyment they get from knowing about him. A simple cute fun educative bedtime or anytime story which your kids would enjoy.

This book is perfect for any church nursery or Sunday School program. The rhyming narrative is about the young girl talking about all of her wonderful features that God made for her, all leading up to a paraphrasing of Psalm 139:14. It's a lovely message for young children being brought up in the Christian faith.
My favorite part of this book is the adorable illustrations. It is of a supremely happy multiracial family that you can tell absolutely adores each other and just has a lot of fun in their lives. You cannot help but feel happy when looking at their pictures, which just really complements this book.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As a former preschool teacher, I taught my students about "sense of self," their two eyes and 10 toes. Author Glenys Nellist describes these basics in a question and answer pattern. "Who gave me ten cute toes?" God, of course. He "counted out each toe." That's the good news in the title. Teaching preschoolers about how wonderfully they are made is an important part of early learning. This delightful board book would be a great addition to any family library or church nursery. I especially like the diverse group of children and families included in the illustrations. Based on Psalm 139:14, "Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex." I highly recommend this book!

This bright, joyful board book is so much fun! Perfect for following with actions as the rhyme is read aloud, it asks questions as to why we are the way we are—with arms and legs and feet and eyes. The answer every time is "The good news is that God made me..." With beautifully detailed, colorful images throughout, this book will ignite curious conversations with young readers and confirm they were wonderfully created. Another great book for little ones by Glenys Nellist!
I was delighted to receive a free advanced reader copy from the publisher.

Good News! God Made Me, is short rhyming children’s book that depicts God creation of us from our heads to our toes. It’s cute, beautifully written, and well illustrated. I read this story to my 4 month old and will continue to read it to her as a way to teach her to love everything about herself as it was wonderfully crafted by God! 5 stars!!!!!

This sweet picture book’s delightful rhyming message tells children how God loves them—showing everyday situations with which they’re familiar. God made them able to hop and hug and wave and enjoy life. The love that flows beneath the surface of the wonderful text and illustrations warms the heart. This book would make a great addition to every child’s library. I received a copy from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

I love this new book in Glenys Nellist's Good News series! A sweet board book that has little kids pointing out that God made their fingers to wiggle, eyes to peek, arms to hug, hands to blow a kiss, and so on, as a reminder of Psalm 139:14. I can't wait to share this with my little grandson - a great way to remind him that God made him, from head to toe, because God loves him so!!

Adorable board book for little ones! Love the diversity and representation in the illustrations--I especially loved that it featured a working mom and a dad who is a fully participating parent in the home! Would make a precious shower/baby gift or birthday/special occasion gift for any kid 4 and under (though my 5- and 8-year-olds enjoyed it as well).
