Our dork of destiny rides again!

Edger is falling for Mary, his bodyguard, kick-ass spy, and cover wife. But she's so hopelessly out of his league, it's clear someone's going to get hurt. Less clear? That someone may be the Prime Minister of Australia.

When Mary confesses her desire to kill the world leader whose assassination Edger's supposed to prevent, Edger's superpowe

It was a blustery early November when I first met David Beem. He was hovering on a wall tying a left-handed clover hitch sailor shank to a wall support to help out another author at a very small but very cozy author meet-n-greet. I was among the attending authors.

I think maybe David is Edger somewhat. Because there is no other way that I can explain to you the reality that lies within either the book or the brain of David Beem.

It's not fair to me as a reader to review this book because it's too

Hang on for a wild ride!

Edger Bonkovitch is a nerdy twenty-something guy with a good intentions, a kind heart and a peculiar power. A serum developed by his super-scientist father has given him the ability to tap into the Collective Unconscious, an ethereal realm where every human soul that has ever lived continues to think, kibbitz and on occasion, offer assistance. In the past, for instance, Edger has called upon the martial arts expertise of the immortal Bruce Lee to get him out of some nast

I want to point out right at the beginning that this is not a stand-alone and Book 1 should be read first which I am sorry to say I did not do. I did read several reviews about Book 1 which I might add were glowing, and many of the statements there helped get my head straight and keep the story flowing. One person used the word “quirky” in their description of Book 1 and I think it may be the perfect word for this book too, only I’ll add cute and quirky.

This book is obviously written by a very i

I give this book the 3 F's: Fast action! Fun! Fablous! This book is hilarious, and you wonder...how the heck did the author come up with that line? And that line there. And this other one. I spend the entire time reading this book not only entertained by the plot and action, but also happily baffled by the comedic bull**. Where the holy heck does this humor come from? Where does it reside in David Beems body that it saturates this superhero comedy book unlike any other?
Besides all this, you also

David Beem was kind (and insistent) enough to send me an ARC of the latest installment of his Edger series. I think I need to put the boy on my Christmas card list because this is a fun, exciting book from a writer who needs to be on your radar.

Edger Lives starts out wacky and pushes on the accelerator with both feet as the tale progresses. The story moves quickly and the characters practically beg to be immortalized in a screenplay. This tale of performance anxiety (not THAT kind ... get your m

A total adrenaline blast.

Step into Edgar's world, one where he can connect to the worldmind and channel their powers in the service of saving the world. And, oh, it needs saving because it's one thing after another. The problem is that the woman Edgar loves may or may not be on his side. It's not easy being a hero.

This book has an amazing and unique voice, so it's best to hold on tight and fasten your seat belt. The ride might be bumpy for Edgar but it's always entertaining for the reader.

This book is brilliantly written with hilarious scenes, witty comical banter, intriguing wordplay, clever pop cultural references, slick celebrity name drop allusions, keen sarcasm among characters, sharp writing, and a quirky storyline that brings it all together!

Edger is at it again! Still the same dorky guy as last time and he’s back again to save the world! This book is also returning with the same piercing, slapstick humor that practically has you rolling on the floor laughing with every tu

I received this book for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book definitely has a lot going on. For those seeking a fast-paced experience told from multiple angles with a little bit of mysticism, superheroes, politics, and romance, this is your book.
For me, I was very intrigued by the blurb. Unfortunately, the book didn’t draw me in as much as I hoped. I found the many aspects I list above to be a little too much. This is a very subjective thing, and others may feel differ

Very fun book!
As a fan of Edger, Edger Lives did not disappoint. The plot was fast paced, well thought out, and full of twists and turns. And the Easter eggs……so many Easter eggs! I want to go back and read it again just to try to find the ones I missed (of which I am sure there are many). The zany yet relatable and well-developed characters seem to simultaneously adhere to and break character tropes. I could not even begin to speculate where the story line will go next. But there is one thing

Beem brings a humorous twist to another sci-fi / action-adventure tale. If you read Edger--you know that the author creates characters and situations that combine extreme sarcasm with sometimes just bad, dumb luck. Edger Lives returns readers to Edger's world as he tries to stay alive and save the world from villains and doom via multiple rounds of misadventures. Edger Lives brings superhero powers, end-of-the-world destruction, a little romance, light science fiction and loads of off the wall c ...more

And here we have the second installment of the Edger (Ed-jer) series by David Beem. Can you read this book as a standalone? Sure, you could. The cast of characters is introduced in the beginning and there's a bit of a recap of the first book. You'll likely pick up on a lot of the pop culture references and tropes that seem to be Beem's signature. You'll chuckle and perhaps laugh out loud on occasion. But I think you will definitely better appreciate a lot of these pieces if you read the first bo ...more

David Beem's sequel continues to enlighten and entertain readers about the adventures of Edger; the lovable dorky superhero protagonist. The style and structure of the book itself is similar to the first book, which I liked, since it is a part of a series.

Also, the second book was just as humorous as the first book, which is hard to pull off. (Usually the first book is the best of a series.) I loved the humor (admittedly, I snorted out loud a few times) and appreciated the local tie to northern

Church of the Ladder Day Dudes. Gary Busey. David Hasselhoff. Putin. Flying Swag Monkeys. Putin on horseback.

No way I can do justice to this book with a normal review.

Edger Live's is similar to Edger in that weird people and situations begin to make sense...until you think about it, and then your mind screams and...

The book is hilarious. I strongly suggest you read Edger first, (the first Edger Book) so you have some idea who all these people are and why their doing the things they're doing.
