When Donald J. Trump was elected president on Nov. 8, 2016, William Robinson - like many Americans - was dismayed. My base line for a great book read is Truman Capote's In Cold Bold" which is the best piece of american literature I have ever read because of the most vivid descriptions imaginable which make you feel like you are actually stumbled upon a murder scene because of capote's ability to so clearly describe the scene and the the range of emotions his writing invokes as your reading it. Disclaimer: I was offered a copy for an honest review.

IIn the intro, Robinson says he hasn't written a poem in years. I believe him. I enjoyed the subject matter but all the poems read very simplistically. There was no complexity in the form or structure, the rhyme scheme was consistently the same. These pieces would work much better as spoken word rather than in written form.

Written poetry allows for more nuance and play with words and structure but that didn't happen here. Hearing modern hip-h
I'm not a fan of this.
This might've worked better as an audio or spoken word.
