I never should have walked away.

Being in the military just seemed worth the heartache, but I was wrong.

And being back and seeing her has me uncharacteristically needy.

There’s no way in hell she’s going to give me a second chance.

I wouldn’t.

And yet, fate has a way of opening the right doors at the right time.

I left my heart behind all those years ago, but I can’t make

Is it really possible to be apart from an ex for 9 years and fall into bed with them the day after you first see them?? This is what this book wants us to believe!

Ashton and Rhett were high school sweethearts but Rhett left on the day of high school graduation without saying goodbye to anyone. No communication at all between the two of them until he comes back for a visit 9 years later. He convinces her to go to dinner with him the following day, and they fall into bed right after said date. The

For what it is worth, I do not think that Rhett committed the worst crime—he was an asshat for ghosting Ashton for the stupidest reason but there are worst things to do. However, there are some people out there who would pick up this book expecting some grovelling from our Hero, Ashton.

If that is what it is, then I suggest you to drop this one and pick something else because Ashton is about the most self-entitled person I have ever read about. He never truly apologised for leaving Ashton and in

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second chance romance between high school sweethearts Rhett and Ashton. Rhett left after high school graduation without a word to join the navy and broke Ashton's heart. Ashton moved to New York and went to school for nursing. When Ashton faced a tragedy at work, she returned home and started to work at the hospital that Rhett's mother ran. Rhett has never returned home since he left but his commander offered him a promotion training the SE ...more

Rhett has been very successful in his nine year career in the Navy since he left town immediately after the HS graduation ceremony without telling his mother, Dr. Lacey, or his girlfriend, Ashton. Now the Navy wants him to take an unusual raise in position on his career path and he and his boss have decided for him to take his first furlough home to think about whether he should become a SEAL Trainer. The first day off his flight home, he goes to meet his mother, the director of his home town ho ...more
Not bad, exactly, but the story is very simple. There's not a lot of conflict at all, and what there is gets resolved super fast because the story itself is so short.

I expected there to be a little bit more in the way of grovelling, and when he finally got around to explaining the situation, it wasn't really enough. There wasn't a good enough excuse for him to have dropped off the face of the earth and never tried to contact the love of his life for nine years. I would have appreciated maybe hi

Well written with engaging characters.
Chloe Morgan’s Don’t Walk Away was a delicious read that took place in a small town in the state of Washington and that I finished in a few hours. Ashton and Rhett were the second chance lovers and even though they hadn’t seen each other in nine years, their chemistry clicked on immediately and just got hotter every time they saw each other. The townspeople and families of both sides couldn’t be fooled and knew they would get back together. But, would they?

A very quick, sweet second chance romance story. Ashton and Rhett were high school sweethearts up until the day of graduation when he just took off and didn't tell anyone where he was going. He's been in the Navy for the last 9 years and has not been given a chance to be promoted into a job he didn't see coming. He is told to go home and think about things for a bit before making his decision. What he doesn't realize is that Ashton is still there or I should say, she came back home. She was a nu ...more

A super sweet second chance romance. It’s been nine years since Rhett disappeared to join the navy. Ashton’s moved on with her life but there’s a part of her that hasn’t gotten over the hurt. Now he’s back in town, but what’s he really here for? In a lot of ways, I think Ashton lets Rhett off too easily for his past bad behavior, but the pair of them are so adorable together I can look past it. And the epilogue is the cutest thing I’ve read since the last Chloe Morgan title.

Great second chance romance!! Rhett and Ashton were high school sweethearts, but he abruptly left for the Navy with out so much as a goodbye to anyone. Years later Ashton is back home after a crushing incident at her hospital in NY and working at the local hospital - for Rhett's mom! He heads home for a while to decide his future with the SEALS and is surprised when he runs into Ashton. Try as they may their spark is still there, but she has to get past her anger over the past. Their story is at ...more

This is a short fast pace read with unresolved issues despite the fact that I enjoyed reading it. The plot was good and had more potential that Ms. Morgan could have pursued. The characters were simple. Really needed more development. The chemistry between Rhett and Ashton was there. I could partially relate to them. What I didn't buy was his reasons for leaving 9 years without any communication. I felt Ashton forgave him too quickly. Rhett needed to work harder for her forgiveness. I would defi ...more

I really enjoyed this story Don’t Walk Away was an exciting and entertaining book. It was the first book by Chloe Morgan and I felt it was well written, the characters were well developed and has a well flowing storyline. For me it was believable it had me smiling and giving into a few giggles. The characters had a great chemistry that I felt from the beginning. I liked how the author brought these two back together. Yes there were a few bumps along the way but that made this a great book. I rec ...more

This was a well-written second chance romance. The last person Ashton expected to see again was Rhett, 9 years after he left her without a word. Despite the anger that still simmered and passage of time, they were just as drawn together as they had been in the past. The story had the right mix of sweet and steamy and wasn’t overly heavy on the military service.

This is a sweet second chance romance. A well written story. It is written in dual POV which gives the reader a lot more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. Likeable characters who develops nicely through the story. He left her and his heart behind years ago when he joined the military. Now he is back in town. Can she take him back?
I like it has an epilogue. An enjoyable and easy read.

Rhett left the night of graduation leaving Ashton crushed.. No letter nothing just up and joined the military. Ashton left town after she graduated and went to college to be a nurse.. years later she returns to town and is getting her life back in order when Rhett comes back on leave from the military. All these years of never getting over him and he is just back and trying to rekindle what they had.. will Ashton follow her heart or her head?

Rhett and Ashton were high school sweethearts. Rhett left his hometown nine years ago without telling anyone to join the Navy. He has to make a decision about his career so he takes a month leave and comes home. Ashton is heartbroken when Rhett left without a word to her and becomes a nurse and moves to New York. She ends up back home after she feel responible for a patients death. Can these two rekindle what they once had or is it to late? I really enjoyed the story. It held my interest.

This utterly fantastic romance features Rhett and Ashton. This is my first book by this author and I love it! I felt like I got so much more story for the amount of pages. I wanted to stay with these two longer. Rhett and Ashton are well written and well developed characters. Rhett is an ambitious Navy man and Ashton is a nurse. Their second chance romance is sweet, romantic and very, very HOT!

I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this very talented author.

Chloe Morgan's books are better and better. What's not love about this Military Second Chance Book.
Rhett Reed was forced to take some time off from the Navy to think about a promotion - returning to his hometown after 9 years was going to be different. Until he ran into his high school sweetheart and first love Ashton Carroll. Can Ashton get over the past so they can be a couple again - Is the love still there?

Where to start? Writing: good with some editing errors. Story line: could have been tighter. Character development. Needed some work.

Heroine fell madly in love at 15, they were separated for 9 years and he barely had to grovel for her to resume an intimate relationship with him!? Hero may have excelled in the military, but he failed at communications and it cost him 9 years of his life.

I found this book to be a very enjoyable and entertaining read with the well written storyline and characters that were so well detailed that as I turned each and every page I felt like Rhett and Ashton jumped from the pages and pulled me right into their story as it unfolded!

Soldiers .. in the Navy ?

The US Army is made up of soldiers not the US Navy. The US Navy are sailors unless an officer or a pilot. They take pride in their titles and should be referenced accurately.
