** I received an eARC copy of the book from InkSpell Publishing for review.**

When Shadow of the Witte Wieven became available for review, I almost passed it up. It wasn't because I didn't want to read it, I did. It's exactly the sort of story I love to read. I just wasn't sure that I had time for it. Well, I am very glad that I did not pass up the opportunity to read this book. I loved it!

I enjoyed reading Shadow of the Witte Wieven unique storyline . Aliyana works for the DEA, and she is almost wrapping up her case. Her case, to catch the Columbian drug lord Emil Mercado. She is working on the last minute details, collecting evidence which will ensure Emil's arrest. Upon completing this task she makes a run for it, only to find her source of transport, her bike missing. She hijacks Emil's plane - after kicking some butts along the way - and flies, escaping the guards and gunshot ...more

Review:

"Shadow of the Witte Wieven" by Debbie Peterson was a good read especially if you are in for fairy, ghost (ship), mystery and romance read. I found this a cute fun and lovable story. The story was definitely one that would keep you on the edge of your seat trying to follow this heroine...

I was given a copy of this book as part of a blog tour for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this story. Aliyana was deep undercover when her expiration time came and she had to flee for her life. While doing so she ran into even more trouble; meet these weird “ghosts”; and has a bounty on her head from the drug lord. Aliyana knows about the drug lord’s plot to assassinate hundreds of DEA families but can’t just come out and report it because she doesn’t know who to trust. Yes there are moles an

This was a fun, exciting read! Historically speaking, I am not a sic-fi reader, unless the hook is original enough to grab my attention. And Debbie Peterson scored with me. I love time travel novels. Love, love, love them. And this book had some magical elements that made this book feel a lot less "Star Trek" and a lot more "Superheroes meets fairy tales" for me. The crew members of the Witte Wieven all had abilities that helped the heroine, Aliyana, complete her mission. This added a really fun ...more

Where to start, oh where to start. Well first of all I went into this story blind as a bat. I actually thought Witte Wieven was a person, and from the title I actually thought they must be a ghost, or something. Ha! Jokes totally on me. It’s actually the name of a 17th century ship that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle along with the members of it’s crew, including the dashing and

Shadow of the Witte Wieven by Debbie Peterson

An excellent mix of the supernatural with a sweet romance, a ghost ship, and a mission to save innocent lives.

Aliyana is an undercover agent for the DEA. She’s out to bust the drug leader Emil in Columbia by going undercover and working for him directly. For her, this mission is personal. This man was responsible for her brother’s death, the only family member she had still alive, and she doesn’t want him to die in vain.

After Aliyana acquires a bun

This book was absolutely enjoyable to read. It was an interesting take on time travel within the Bermuda Triangle. I like how Aliyana was a kick butt girl and that she wasn't your usual fragile damsel in distress. And even though she can take care of herself, after meeting Wolf and his crew she comes to rely on them. Wolf and his crew were really fun characters and I liked how they helped with their "Ghostly Abilities". I like the relationship between Alyiana and Wolf. It had a good start and t ...more

My thoughts on the book Shadow of the Witte Wieven by Debbie Peterson was so much different than most paranormal romance books.  No vampires, werewolves, or witches but let me tell you she gave me a story that I never even missed them.  Aliyana Montijo is a undercover DEA agent deep into a Colombian drug cartel.  After gaining information she had to steal a airplane in order to escape.  But situation changed over the Bermuda Triangle and she happened upon Wolf and his crew members.  Throughout h ...more

Wow.. What a story. There is a kick butt heroine and a mystery along with some evil thugs who want to harm the US. Definately a wonderful read and I can't wait to see if there is a sequel!

This book has a bit of everything - it's fantasy with a dash of intrigue and action, partly set in some kind of parallel world, with a pirate and DEA agent as main characters, and a beautiful romance for good measure. It had a slow start but once the story picked up I couldn't stop reading. Well the book has an interesting plot, that I admit I didn't understand right away. Many things are not well described and are left alone without further descriptions which annoyed me but as story progressed ...more

Aliyana Montijo has been undercover for several months. Her mission is to find enough evidence to put a Colombian drug lord behind bars for life. But before that she has to become somebody else. Then something big happened to Aliyana while she was trying to escape while trying to gather evidence right from the source. Worst comes to worst, Aliyana’s gate-away motorbike disappears and she’s stuck with a small pilot plane as her only gate-away route. She flees the daunting drug lord’s lair (so-to- ...more

This book was sooooo good - it is one of my favorites and I look forward to reading it again! I loved the depth and interaction of the characters, the suspense and drama, the supernatural and their abilities and portrayals ... and of course the romance. I became very invested in this story right from the start. I hated putting this book down and would keep sneaking in chapters whenever I could. I can't wait to read more from this author - I hope she puts out more books soon!

Another wonderful and suspenseful time travel tale from author, Debbie Peterson. This one involves DEA operative, Aliyana Montijo, who, after a bizarre storm in the Bermuda Triangle, encounters the captain and crew of a seventeenth century vessel, the Witte Wieven (for the story on the ship and another romantic pair read Ms. Peterson’s equally exceptional, Van Locken’s Witch).

In no time, Aliyana is working with Captain Wolfaert Dircksen Van Ness to bring down a drug cartel in the present day. Wh

I will confess I might have expected too much from this book. It has a Dutch sea captain as a lead character and the title refers to Dutch folklore, so I was hoping for a good ghostly read.

First disappointment: The Witte Wieven in the title didn't refer to ghostly women who lure unsuspecting travels to their death. Instead it was the name of Wolfaert's ship. Why he would name his ship after ghosts who only haunt moors and why he used the plural form (witte wieven = white women) is anyone's guess

This is such a different paranormal romance novel than what you typically see. No vampires and werewolves here. Just ghosts. And the ghosts here have their own peculiarities. But let me tell you first that this book contains romance. Not just romance, but the perfect, story-book romance. The happy ending kind that you see in fairy tales.

What did I love about this book? There's a lot of dialogue. And I absolutely loved it (I love dialogue in general). A lot of the story unfolds as the characters

This was an interesting book, as Peterson takes on another angle of the paranormal and myth. Though sometimes a bit confusing and far-fetched, the idea is created in a plausible manner. Aliyana and Wolf are both good characters, daring and brave. Their relationship is an underlying force throughout the story, though I felt like I didn't see as much of its development as I had wanted. The same with the side characters. Though there were many and understandably they couldn't all be fleshed out com ...more
