Kara is on a mission from her mother. Infiltrate the citadel, turn her brother, and free a prisoner who has been held there for almost two decades.
Oh yea, it would be nice if she could bring down the barrier between Bastion and Gaia.
With the help of her dragon merger, and Beryl, as well as a couple of other witches she doesn't know will be giving her aide.
As the big battle to end the book progresses, as with all battles, everyone does not make it out alive. I wish it would have been someone else
Heart of Bastion by Susan Faw is book four in The Heart of the Citadel series, and for me, the most engaging and intense story in the series yet! The Heart of Bastion is an intermingled story that follows Kara, Jasper, Marion, and Emily. This story focuses mostly on Kara as she strives to gain access into the Citadel and fulfill her mission. It won’t be easy. Her brother is the key, and while she has only aged so much due to the magic of Jintessa, her brother has aged significantly. But nothing ...more

A gut wrenching, nail biting story, jam packed with action from start to finish. The fight to bring down the magical barrier which the evil, tyrannical Emperor Madrid erected and keeps in place through dark magic has begun and Kara, a young heart bearer is chosen for this difficult quest. She sets out with her dragon, Beryl and her dijinn, Chryso they are the chosen triad to see to this task but before they have to stop at the Citadel itself, the very home of the emperor. He has enslaved all wiz ...more

Ok, I just gobbled up Susan Faw‘s Heart of Bastion (The Heart Of The Citadel, Book Four) in one single mighty binge sitting. My husband is having fun teasing me about it but I don’t care. It was worth it as this book was just soooo good. Wizards and djinn, magic and dragon, plots within plots, twists and turns, action, adventure and, at its heart, one heck of a fabulous heroine in Kara. This book really had everything I could’ve wanted as it was all served up in a totally delicious manner. There ...more

Heart of Bastion is Book 4 in The Heart Of The Citadel series and is the best so far. This is a fast paced, action adventure with wizards, djinn, dragon, magic, twists and turns. Our three heroes (Kara, Beryl Kara's dragon, and Chryso a djinn) have an almost impossible task to break down the wall of evil magic that Emperor Madrid has erected as well as retrieve Kara's brother and a prisoner who has been in the Citadel for ages. Susan Faw has created a world that seems real and her characters are ...more

Heart Of Bastion (Heart Of The Citadel, #4), my fourth read from author Susan Faw. I got the first book Heart Of Destiny (Heart of the Citadel #1) back in April 2018 & read it & Heart of Tyr (Heart of the Citadel #2) in October of 2018 and then I just lost track of the series until reading Heart of Shadra (Heart of the Citadel, #3) yesterday. Another thoroughly entertaining well-written read that has all the makings of an epic with likable, well-developed characters that make you want to read mo ...more

My goodness. Such an intense finish. This was such an enthralling read. Lots of action , intense and dramatic. Totally captivating. Brilliant characters that simply take your breath away.
I enjoyed this book so much, I felt I was there right in the middle of the magical land. Experiencing the action first hand.
This is one hell of a series. I’m already gagging for the next and last book.
Simply the best.

The author created another Great book in The Series! Characters were well developed, intriguing and full-blooded. This is one of The greatest perks of Ms. Faw books! Kara has an important mission to infiltrate citadel - Easy right? Well, be my guest to do so. There will be few changes in Her mission due to some twists and turns that will happen during The book. This one is A pageturner - it sucked me in from page one!

This is a very strong story with clearly-drawn characters, intricate plot-lines and ** lots ** of action.
I was thoroughly involved in the story before I knew it.
Have your coffee beside your elbow before you relax into your favorite comfy chair.
Enjoy a darned good read.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Another great story about the heart bearers and their quest to save the world from the evil emperor. There is plenty of action and enough twists and turns to keep you interested until the book is over.

I really loved this book! The urgency and intensity of this whole thing is reaching a fever pitch. Kara’s fate as well as that of Chryso and Beryl is a mystery and many things have come together to influence the outcome. I really am looking forward to the next book to find out how this works out!
