What a good read. I enjoy biographies but this one is about my family. I’ve heard these stories from my dad,Maureen’s younger brother, for many years. I had a good cry n a good laugh. I’m so incredibly blessed to be where I am today because of my grandparents decisions. They made the most of everything, gave what they could n Aunt Maureen in the middle of it all. What a privilege to have this book in my tin of few family items.
I loved this book. While it covered the hardships of a family that left the hardships of Ireland to try for a better life in New Zeland, and later Australia, it was positive and uplifting. The family was big and loud and at times quite poor, but they had music, each other, and a will to succeed. I highly recommend whether you’re musically inclined or not. You will enjoy this journey.
