Fans of O'Connor's first published letters, The Habit of Being, often miss this publication, but it is well worth the effort to find it (usually in academic libraries). O'Connor's letters reflect the fact that she often assumed different personas for her many correspondents, which to some degree we all do. These letters reveal a very interesting, intellectual side to O'Connor.

Historically interesting for the social intimacy of the relationships. Even more interesting for O'Connor's occasional turn of phrase.

The editorial annotations are annoyingly heavy handed here, but I'll never get enough of O'Connor's correspondence.
