Indigo Bay #6

Sweet Rendezvous

Rate this book
On her last tank of gas Elaine Mathews drives South. Spontaneity had never been her strength, but there was something about being publicly fired that had a way of changing things. An empty bank account, broken heart, and enough humiliation to last a life time was all Elaine could claim as her own. Her car choked to a stop in the quiet beach town of Indigo Bay and all she could do was sit on the curb and wait for the sun to set on her misery. Davis Mills has a routine. Wake. Work. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. It hadn't always been that way. He'd left indigo bay once and returned a broken man. Now he kept his dreams small and his schedule tight. If there was no room in his life for anything new then he'd never repeat his mistakes. When fate has them, quite literally colliding Elaine and Davis are faced with an important question. Can you live a full life if you never take a risk? Or is life made up of every mistake, miracle and chance that comes with being in love?

Writing is a way to make a lot of different people do exactly what you want them to do. When I can’t get my toddler to listen to me, I turn to my characters. They always cooperate!

I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my husband and seven year old son. I have perfected the ability to write in a noisy house and create story lines while folding laundry.

Ten Things to know about me:

1. I have a fear of whales. All whales. The noise they make. The sight of them (even on tv). I don't think this phobia has a name and I've never met anyone else who feels this way. I blame it on the 3D movie when I was 7 at the Boston Museum of Science. (Thanks Dad.)

2. When I get hungry it brings out the worst in me. My friends and family know to keep me well fed. They pack snacks now.

3. I can cook but not bake. Not even a little. Not even a box of brownies.

4. If there is a song I like it is normal to hear me listening to it a hundred times (give or take) in a row.

5. I do not, under any circumstances, read directions. Who has time for that? Making mac & cheese by the seat of my pants for the last 25 years.

6. Like a black-out drunk, I have lost hours of my life mysteriously to Pinterest. If you haven't tried it yet... don't. Save your self.

7. Before I became a mother, lots of things grossed me out. Now nothing does.

8. My favorite food is food... my least favorite food is no food. I love food. (apply the same rule to wine)

9. I do not have a green thumb. I have the kind of thumb that kills any type of plant ever given to me. Whatever kind of thumb that is... I have it.

10. Writing has changed my life. Not just the career it's created but the way I feel when I write. If you have something you love to do I hope you get the opportunity to do it.

I loved Davis. His dry, on-pointed comments cracked me up. Great dialogue and a slow build to the finish made this Indigo Bay novel a fun romp I didn't want to put down.

I have been provided with a copy of Sweet Rendezvous by the author for an impartial review. This book is a part of the Indigo Bay Sweet Romance series written by many wonderful authors. This is the first book that I have read by this author and it will certainly not be the last. I absolutely loved getting to enter this world and meet more of Indigo Bay’s wonderful characters. This story was just so easy to get into and I just didn’t want to put it down. I loved getting to meet Elaine Matthews and Davis Mills meet and find their way. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Loved it!

I didn't think I was going to like this book all that much, but I was wonderfully surprised! The character development was incredible, the romance sweet and clean, and a strong happily ever after. I'd rate it PG. I'm definitely going to reread this and I'm looking forward to reading more from Danielle Stewart.

I loved visiting Indigo Bay again, but this one fell a little flat for me. Just the whole firing thing seemed a little over dramatic! But it was a sweet story and it was fun to see the progression of the characters.

Read this book in one afternoon in the pool. I am glad Elaine told Davis the whole truth and nothing but the truth… eventually.

A quick read for travelling; not too difficult to read quickly! The story-line was a bit over the top, but what can you expect for these "romance" books?!

I enjoyed the return to Indigo Bay! Davis and Elaine meet under very unusual circumstances and it doesn't take long for Davis to work his way into Elaine's heart (and the readers' as well!). A fun read!
