The day I meet Hero Miller I know he’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met before. Sheltered and raised around no one but my family all my life his darkness draws me in.

He was raised with violence, it oozes from deep within him.
I was raised by the bible my naiveness to save him proving just that.

He scares me, and excites me all at once. He’s obsessed and guarded.
He protects me,

Oh my, I loved writing this book so much. This is the first book I've ever co-written with another author and I couldn't be more happy and excited about it. This is only the first of many books J.L Beck and I will write together.

Happy Reading!!!

Everything about her screams innocence, and Hero finds himself wanting to claim her, protect her and take care of her all at once, and only after only one meeting. This is a beautiful book. It has been a while since J.L. Beck has released a book and I have never read a book by Cassandra Hallman story so to read this book is a great deal for me. This is a great story about two people that are in college and fall in love when they least expect it. They are nothing alike but that is what makes them great for each other. But what happens when those differences come forward and bring them outside of their bubble?

I loved this book and can't wait for the next on

fast paced, quick read. Hero wants Elyse the minute she walks into the room as his tutor. He instantly wants to protect her and make her his. The are complete opposites. He is a convicted murderer and she is an innocent girl raised by religious parents. She starts out as meek and mild but quickly finds her spine. He gives her courage and she gives him peace. There is drama, action, bad guys and sexy scenes in this short story that will keep your entertained.

This was a great book! This book tells Hero and Elyse’s story. It’s dark and intense. I really loved these characters! They are such a great couple. There are so many twists and turns in this story that will keep you guessing until the very end. I look forward to the next book and would highly recommend it!

This a good read. Hero and Elyse meet at college. They are two completely different people. However, they both have really messed up families. Hero feels the need to protect her and it's good that he does since someone is after her. Thankfully in the end everything ended well for them.

This book is a very emotional one. Hero recently released from prison, wants to follow his mother's wishes for him to go to college. Hero's life was hard to say the least and he was raised by violence. In walks his beautiful tutor Elyse, she is all that is good and he finds himself captivated by her. His once hardened heart is being tugged by her innocent ways. Elyse is trying to earn money, she was raised in a stricked family yes but is run by religion her fathers violence was to keep her in li ...more

I made it through about 55% of this book.
I really liked the overall premise of this story, I liked the anti-H (named Hero) a lot but once again I find I do not care for a heroine (Elyse) to the point I don't care enough about her to want to finish the book. On top of that I personally wasn't enthralled with the actual writing, some of it seemed (IMO) to be a little of the simplistic side as well as not drawing me into the story.
I will admit the chapters/parts told from Hero'

Carla's Five Star Revie

Convict Me is the new and captivating dually written tale by Cassandra Hallman and J.L. Beck. In this book, we meet Hero and Elyse, and if ever two people came from completely opposite sides of the spectrum, it was these two. Hero's life has not been easy to say the least. His choices and actions ultimately landed in behind bars. He is out now, but prison changed him. His heart has pretty much turned to stone, while anger consumes his entire being. Convict Me by Cassandra Hallman and JL Beck

Some of you might have heard of JL Beck and her books and those who haven’t but love romance suspense books you have to check her books out. She teamed up with Cassandra Hallman to write convict me and they hit it out of the park.

This is the story of Elyse and Hero and their extreme opposite life that brings them together. Elyse grew up with a controlling family who told her what, where and when to do everything and if she rebelled she would get punished. She finally got her freedom and went to

While at college she Tutors some students that helps with the bills and that’s where she meets Hero the man that will change her life forever.

Wow, what a fantastic story.

Loved this story, it has some very wonderful characters and a truly intriguing story.

Elyse is a tutor at her college to help pay her bills and she ends up tutoring Hero. Hero was his nickname in prison and it just stuck with him. The instant Hero sees Elyse he is struck with an all encompassing need to protect, take care of and claim her. She's a little bit afraid of him at first and she's totally innocent when it comes to men, but she can't stop thinking about Hero.

Elyse grew up in a religious family and never allowed to do anything. So when she convinced her parents to let her go to college, this was a big deal. But she was still nervous and doing what she can to get by without their help. But will life be easy? Will she find love? Or end up back at home or worse?

Hero is fresh out of prison, but following his mother's wishes he is getting a college education. But while there, he meets Elyse, he knows she is too good for him, but will that stop him? He wan

I am sure that there are plenty of people out there that will love this book. I am just not one of them. I even gave myself a few extra days to see if my feeling would temper or change and they just didn't. I found this book to be tedious. There is just way too much angst in this story. It felt like when I was in high school and a bad break up left me alone in the dark with "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" playing over and over on the cassette player (I know, dating myself). It was just too much, ...more

This is an entertaining romance that offers lots of heat and heart. I really liked Hero. His history was heartbreaking and how he saw himself and his emotional turmoil about it all was powerful and very moving. His actions did swing from swoon worthy to complete jerk but this was generally do to his own insecurities or trying to protect Elyse. Elyse, was a character that I liked but then again I didn't. I tried hard to make allowances for her because of her history but she really was so frustrat ...more

I have read quite a few books by Ms. Beck but this was the first I've read by Ms. Hallman. Overall, I liked the concept of the story. Of the two main characters, I liked Hero the best. Although frustrating at times, with his back-and-forth I want you/no I don't want you feelings, it was easy to understand where all of that came from. Elyse annoyed me. I wanted to like her but I just couldn't connect with her. This was an instalove at warp speed kind of romance. While there wasn't really any hear ...more

These two authors nailed these characters. Elyse and Hero are the face of "good girl/bad boy". Their story has some really great twists.

Elyse has been sheltered and kept protected. She wants to just experience college like a normal girl. That's not exactly how things go. if I'm supposed to dislike him that will never happen. Even when you find out how bad he can be and him pushing away Elyse, you still love him because these authors made sure we get dual POV at the right moments.

Two people from different backgrounds meet at college, as they build their relationship it is obvious that both have a past that has left them insecure and hurt. Neither one was looking for a relationship and certainly not with each other, but fate and attraction doesn’t always tally with one’s brain. These two characters are well written, and the story is told from both of their points of view. Before reaching the HEA you have to read through a lot of action and suspense with some steamy scenes ...more

Hero is just that! For a badboy he has scruples and morales with a heart of gold. He continues to rescue Elyse from her own stupidity b/c he loves her. Elyse was a detriment to herself at times and made me want to smack her! I could not fathom the depravity of the parents. Diabolical and cult like. WTH! .Elyse's parents and roommate were so ignorant to Hero that it really p*$$ed me off. Common courtesy people! WTH! So rude! Elyse's rebellious streak is a bonus to cause problems and it does. Just what I like a really bad boy with a soft heart for the girl he loves. A good story about a very bad man and the girl he falls in love with who has been brought up by strict parents away from the harsh realities of the real world. I loved the instant attraction and the story was full of intrigue. The characters were very well described and there interaction was lovely. A suspenseful story in parts, who was following Elyse? The attraction between them was apparent and blossomed right from the ...more

A timid girl from a community from god and a bad boy who went to prison after murder. Two complete different people, one distiny. Elyse is a girl that tutors so she can pay her college when she meets Hero a classic bad boy.

This is an amazing storyline, a lot of possesiveness but also love and sex. The story makes you cheer for thembut sometimes also willing to scream that she has to run. This book has a good thought out personality's and makes you hate the parents from Elyse but also a lot of g

Powerful Story

This book has it all. Hot sexy love scenes. A heartfelt moving story that is well-written. You cannot help but feel sad for these characters. We all have pasts. Some worse than others. However, we cannot let our pasts define us. Hero struggles everyday with his past and what he had done. Being in prison broke him. Elysa came from either a cult or Hutterite colony or something similar. Her parents were cold, abusive, manipulative and unloving. They found each other.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

I wasn't able to connect with Elyse. Her transformation from the sweet, innocent, sheltered child into a strong woman capable of standing up for herself needed to be smoother and more developed. Her desire to be to be independent and make her own decisions was in direct conflict with Hero's possessiveness and his need for control.

Although this is an ARC and hasn't gone through final edits and proofing, I feel the need to say that the u

I received an ARC for an honest review, I really liked this book and felt a deep soul crushing pain for all that the H(Hero) and h(Elyse) went through in their young lives. There were many things I loved about this book, for me I love the anti-heroes that end up becoming true heroes by the end and Hero did that in spades. Elyse was sometimes a little too much of a pushover for me but in the end she found her steel back bone and stood up for herself and her love. I absolutely loved that she never ...more

This was a great read by Cassandra and Josi. Elyse and Hero are total opposites and meet each other when Elyse starts to tutor Hero. During their first meeting their attraction is immediate and Hero wants Elyse like no other. When he saves her at a party, he becomes her hero. From that moment on Hero will do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if that means leaving her. I don’t want to give any more away. You will just have to read it yourself. It has a great storyline, some suspense, actio ...more
