The day I meet Hero Miller I know hes unlike anyone Ive ever met before. Sheltered and raised around no one but my family all my life his darkness draws me in.

He was raised with violence, it oozes from deep within him.
I was raised by the bible my naiveness to save him proving just that.

He scares me, and excites me all at once. Hes obsessed and guarded.
He protects me,

Oh my, I loved writing this book so much. This is the first book I've ever co-written with another author and I couldn't be more happy and excited about it. This is only the first of many books J.L Beck and I will write together.

Happy Reading!!!

This was a pretty good read that I liked. Hero has been to jail for murder. She has been protected all her life to the point she really didn't make decisions for herself. Now they are both in the same college and she becomes his tutor. When he gets out of prison his mom's dream was for him to go to college, so that is how he ends up at the local community college. At first, he thinks he can keep her separate from the dark side of his life, but it doesn't take long for it to all come crashing ...more
This had no substance whatsoever. It's literally love at first sight. Things move quickly with them. There is a bunch of drama. He's a killer, and she comes from a screwed up family. None of these things were explored in enough detail. Most of the book was sex scenes. To sum it up, this was a complete waste of time.

I loved the H bc he was so insane for the h. My biggest complaint was that at one point the H becomes cruel and pushes the h away. She should have left but stayed with him and even climbed into bed with him while he continued being a jerk. Nevertheless, the H was utterly possessive, protective, and obsessed with the h which I LOVED!.

Right from their first meeting, Hero and Elyse have steamy, conflicted chemistry. These two really fight what is between them.. lots of drama and suspense. Loved when they finally came together! A little push pull.

I have been SOOOOOOO SLOW reading this last week. I am trying to dip my toe into writing some of my own stuff so we shall see how that goes lol.

This was a decent story. I mostly liked it because it was a fun start to a series. I am really interested to see where it goes. A few issues I had were; The connection between the MC's felt a bit Insta-love/lust and the hero was extremely hot and cold. I understand what the author was going for by Hero ditching Elyse after she saw him as his 'worst

Fresh out of prison, Hero follows his mothers dream of going to school, but when Hero Miller takes on a tutor, he wasnt expecting the lovely Elyse to show up. Everything about her screams innocence, and Hero finds himself wanting to claim her, protect her and take care of her all at once, and only after only one meeting. Elyse is working as a tutor to help pay her bills, when she meets Hero while running late for their session, the sparks begin to fly when he tells her he wants a kiss as payment ...more

I am sure that there are plenty of people out there that will love this book. I am just not one of them. I even gave myself a few extra days to see if my feeling would temper or change and they just didn't. I found this book to be tedious. There is just way too much angst in this story. It felt like when I was in high school and a bad break up left me alone in the dark with "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" playing over and over on the cassette player (I know, dating myself). It was just too much, ...more

HEA(?): Yes
Romance: 3.5/5
Heat: 3-3.5/5
Suspense: 3.5/5
Drama: 3-3.5/5

This Book has a few more scenes then the original Free version.
Hero is an Arsehole for the most part but Im a Addict for those type of guys in books, it was a pretty decent read. My biggest issue was the fact that it was Insta-Love, well mainly on Heros part first, everything felt so..immediate, no real breathing room.

This is a beautiful book. It has been a while since J.L. Beck has released a book and I have never read a book by Cassandra Hallman story so to read this book is a great deal for me. This is a great story about two people that are in college and fall in love when they least expect it. They are nothing alike but that is what makes them great for each other. But what happens when those differences come forward and bring them outside of their bubble?

I loved this book and can't wait for the next

Wow! This book had me hooked from the start and I finished it in one day! Elysse is a very naive and innocent young woman due to the upbringing she had from her strict parents. She attends college and meets Hero who is a dark alpha and the complete opposite to her. Hero is a complicated soul, he seems tough on the outside due to his upbringing but he has a heart so pure and I think thats what makes him and Elysse the perfect match. Their story takes you through good times and sad times but you ...more

Convict Me was a pleasant book to read. It's not the first book I've read from J.L. Beck and C. Hallman , so the were moments that I had a feeling of déjà vu. If it was the very first book, I'm sure everything would have been new to me, especially the cult related stuff. Regardless, I enjoyed reading the story of Hero and Elyse. There were twists and turns, steamy moments, violence, blood, murder and a nice dose of drama. I'm going to read the next book, so I can eventually read Luke's ...more

This is a fast paced opposites attract romance with strong characters and an action packed story line. You have mafia bad boy Hero meeting shy virgin Elyse , having a hot chemistry with sizzling hot scenes and a steamy romance. Throw in the suspense , twists and turns and you have a true page turner. The authors move the story quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.

fast paced, quick read. Hero wants Elyse the minute she walks into the room as his tutor. He instantly wants to protect her and make her his. The are complete opposites. He is a convicted murderer and she is an innocent girl raised by religious parents. She starts out as meek and mild but quickly finds her spine. He gives her courage and she gives him peace. There is drama, action, bad guys and sexy scenes in this short story that will keep your entertained.

This a good read. Hero and Elyse meet at college. They are two completely different people. However, they both have really messed up families. Hero feels the need to protect her and it's good that he does since someone is after her. Thankfully in the end everything ended well for them.

I made it through about 55% of this book.
I really liked the overall premise of this story, I liked the anti-H (named Hero) a lot but once again I find I do not care for a heroine (Elyse) to the point I don't care enough about her to want to finish the book. On top of that I personally wasn't enthralled with the actual writing, some of it seemed (IMO) to be a little of the simplistic side as well as not drawing me into the story.
I will admit the chapters/parts told from

WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!! A OUTSTANDING READ!!!!!!!
When Elyse finally gets to her tutorial with Hero she is out of breathe, running late for a job she cant afford to lose. Hero is a ex con who went to prison for murder and now after 7 years he is finally going to college. But when he first sees Elyse everything changes for him. He has never been in love so his feels for this shy girl are totally out there. And when he sees a way to get a kiss he makes her think its all down to her but Hero knows

Carla's Five Star Revie

Convict Me is the new and captivating dually written tale by Cassandra Hallman and J.L. Beck. In this book, we meet Hero and Elyse, and if ever two people came from completely opposite sides of the spectrum, it was these two. Hero's life has not been easy to say the least. His choices and actions ultimately landed in behind bars. He is out now, but prison changed him. His heart has pretty much turned to stone, while anger consumes his entire being. His mom's dream was for
