Prix Gautney has created a heart-warming story that is not without strife and risks. The writing is clean and concise, easy to enjoy. The pace picks up greatly in the second half of the book, and I often found it hard to put down.

This is written for youth, but it has so much depth that adults will enjoy it as well. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are well-developed, and as a reader I became very invested in them. Ms. Gautney is also a master at description, weaving it into the story in ways that bring the scene to life without you ever realizing you're reading description.
