Do you want to know Jesus, but don't know where to begin? Why not begin with the Gospel of John? It's a great way to discover who Jesus was, how he lived, and what he taught. Even a few minutes a day spent reading this Gospel can transform your life in surprising ways—it's not just another book.
The Revised Standard Version has been acclaimed for decades as the clearest, most accurate, and most beautiful modern translation of the Bible in English. This edition with its clear, contemporary typeface and single-column format is designed to be portable, attractive, and easy to read.
Technically I‘ll never stop reading this book since it’s part of the Gospel readings for Mass but here’s my review any way ( lol )
I read this book of Bible on its own first with my own reflections and then I read it in The Word on Fire Bible and I highly recommend doing just that.( reading it on its own and then with additional reflections)Bishop Barron offers such beautiful commentary and reflection from himself and other Christian thinkers.
My favorite part was Bishop Barron’s commentary on the story of the Wedding at Cana where Mary tells Jesus that the wedding party has ran out of wine. ( John 2: 1-12 )
I’ve always had a soft spot for this biblical story ( maybe because it involves wine lol but what can I say my grandmother is an Italian Catholic) and Bishop Barron brings my fondness for it to a new level.
His reflections make me think of Esmèralda’s song in Disney’s The Hunchback of Norte Dame God Help the Outcasts.
