3.5 stars I found this to be a lovely story, a bit of fluttering here and there, but overall a lovely story.

As self-righteous as Leo can be I found him endearing. Helping Davie with stuff... It was really funny to watch. Leo is ambitious and there is no place for a relationship, only short one nighters. Throughout the story we find out the real reason about that opinion.

Davie is the new staff nurse at Twinkle Ward. His first encounter with Dr. Leo Westbury isn’t the best one. Even though he is

A Joyfully Jay review.

Unlocking the Doctor’s Heart by Liam Livings had great potential. Davie Penrose was wonderfully gentle hearted and the scenes he shared with the children in his care were sweet and well written. Livings seemed to have both first-hand experience and done hefty research into the life of being a caregiver on a children’s ward where each patient was hoping for the miracle of a transplant in order to survive. In fact, the portions of the novel where Davie and Leo

Honestly, this was a difficult read for me.

It started out with Davie, a nurse, starting a new job at a hospital in London. He's trying to get into the hospital for a walk through, but he doesn't have his staff pass yet, so he's arguing with the desk clerk. When Leo, a staff doctor gets involved, he takes on Davie as his responsibility and shows him around. When they end up working together in the youth transplant ward, they spend a lot of time together at the hospital, but also forge a

unlocking the doctor's heart is a category romance that feels like an old school betty neels harlequin except the main characters are both men. doctor leo westbury is an up-and-coming surgeon working the transplant ward, and new hire nurse davie penrose is a distraction he both wants desperately and is afraid to give into.

leo has faced loss before, and since then only meaningless flings have been his standard. when davie meets him, he's already been warned about the playboy doctor, and since

Davie is a nurse from Cornwall who has recently moved to London in order to pursue a different career opportunity, as a nurse in a pediatric transplant unit. On his first day in London, he goes to get the lowdown on his new place of employment only to be told he can’t get in because he isn’t

This is a tough one. I really liked the story and the characters but...

I really wanted to like this one and there were parts of it that I did, but there was just something that kept me from really getting into Unlocking the Doctor's Heart. I hate to say this, because most of the time, I'm wishing for more to a story. In the case of Davie and Leo, I think that their story would have been better if it had been shorter. Why? Well, it just felt like there was too much back and forth of the

A new job brings together Davie and Leo, two men who have histories that are much more likely to keep them apart than bring them together. When their proximity and respect lead to friendship and then to more, they catch glimpses of a future together. For one of them, that's appealing though scary. For the other, it's so frightening it becomes abhorrent and ruins their chance for a meaningful relationship. It will take strength, humility, and determination to regain what might have been crushed ...more

Davie Penrose left his successful career and moved to a new city to work in the children's transplant ward. When he was about starting a job in the new hospital, he could not get in because he did not have his staff pass leaving him arguing with the desk clerk. During those moments, our sexy doctor, Doctor Leo Westbury helped him and later took him around the hospital. As they worked together, the tension started to heat up. Leo found that Davie was bossing him around and Davie thought that Leo ...more

I'm always a fan of MM and this had sweet moments but it doesn't matter if its male or females I hate the story lines with the "never again story lines", where the shields are up and they won't even try. Which then leads into the miscommunications and assumptions. blah blah which infuriates me and then makes the characters forgettable.

However, since I'm in Canada, the language is different in the medical world so that was neat to experience. And even though I was getting frustrated I ended up

Unlocking the Doctor's Heart was an easy read, but a bit slow. I enjoyed the book but it was drawn out.
