I’m screwed. Pippa just showed up uninvited with plans of staying the weekend. I can hardly handle an hour with her, let alone two days. Despite more than a year of dodging her, nothing has changed. She’s the only woman I want. Smart and sexy and bold. My best friend’s little sister. Forbidden. Denying my desire for her is torture. And she doesn’t make it easy; she wants me too. The thing is, making her mine means ruining my best friend.

These two pull at my heart strings. Drew and Pippa have terrific chemistry that oozes from them, even when they try to fight it. 🔥🔥 But they have an obstacle to get passed and it's proving to be extremely difficult.
Pippa has had a crush on Drew since she was barely a teen. It's been about a decade of her pursuing him to varying degrees. A horrible incident from the past has caused her brother, his best friend Finn, to declare Pippa as off-limits. Finn's reaction may be a bit childish and frustrating but I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.
I read and listened to the book, which ends happy-ish for now. I liked the narrators, Summer Morton and Stephen Dexter, and will be listening to more of them in the second half of this duet.
Story: 4 stars Narration: 4 stars
FYI - my trigger alert is for a past event that is stopped before it gets far but it involves a child and may still set some off. 🤗
This is an intriguing start to a duet about a brother's best friend and his little sister.
Drew and Pippa have know each other almost all their lives and have been crushing on each other for almost as long whether they realized it or not.
As of late, it's been really hard on Drew, so much so, that he's gone to extremes and just not seen Pippa for over a year. He buys a house by the lake and everyone is coming to help him fix it up. Lucky for them, Pippa is also best friends with Drew's sister, Paige, and comes along. Enter trouble.
There's a certain reason why Drew and Pippa cannot date but it's not made clear. Something happened to Finn's other sister and that's caused Finn to keep all his friends away from his sisters...something he is very passionate about.
Knowing that this is the first book of a duet, I knew things would come to a head and they did. I just wasn't expecting it to be over so soon. The book is only 135 pages! Definitely not long enough to have any depth but enough to set things up.
Unfortunately for me, I read the blurb for the second book in the duet and I'M SO EXCITED! The angst is calling me...it might even make me forgive this book for being so short. I can't wait to find out!
5 LOVE STARS!! I loved this sweet forbidden, full of angst story. Pippa Drew are perfect...they should not want each other, but they can't stay away from each other. Their story is a quick read and will put a smile on your face. You will love it, so go ahead and 1-Click.
Pippa & Drew or my very favorite couple! ♥ I mean these two are should have been together for a long time! I knew them when they were teenagers in Made to Love. I've loved witnessing how these two gets together. Drew resisting and Pippa pushing over and over again! They are practically family. Them being together is both an evidence but also a risk. What if something goes wrong?
Wait for the angst! If you love it, you'll have it plenty. Love Block is a terrific start for this duet! All you'll want is more of their chemistry, more of their banter and more of their time together.
Reading S.M. West's words felt like going home. When you know you are going to have a good time no matter what, surrounded by the people you love the most. So you can bet I'm ready for more soon!!
I seriously loved this one. I've missed Suzanne's writing and stories like this are why.
Witty banter, great chemistry and genuine emotions pouring from the page. In love with her older brother's best friend Pippa has been pining for Drew for years. Complicated histories have kept them apart and I have to say there were moments I wanted to punch her brother Finn square in the face! An easy read with plenty of fun moments I definitely recommend.
I wanted to throw my phone after finishing the first couple pages I don’t think I have ever been so mad at a book before I really didn’t think I could finish but I am glad I did. I was devastated to learn what had happened but also happy Pip was happy. Only to have my heartbreak for her 2 chapters in, I wanted to crawl in and just hug her. I was furious at Drew and could have kicked him in real life but once he came to the rescue my feelings changed. Pippa has had a hard few years and I don’t blame her for all her feelings but I’m glad they were able to look past their pasts and find happiness with each other.
Suzanne West has an amazing talent or presenting the 'real life's' motions, emotions and situations through out angsty and steamy filled out plot, in this case, the "forbidden-off limits-best-friend's-little-sister" romance...
Now, Pippa Raine (the little sister in question) and Drew, her older brother's best friend...
The unrequited love on one side, cause of the sense of loyalty and the 'unfortunate' event in the past that caused the very traumatic experience for the older brother...
It's all very complex and their actions make the situation even more complicated...and the lack of comunication only procrastinates the whole messy outcome, that should not have been...
But I loved the 'reality' of all the feels...the characters were so real, vulnerable and palpable in expressing their emotions...
A quick well written read that is engaging and riddled with angst that feeds the intensity of your emotions throughout this amazing read that I enjoyed and am looking forward to reading more of this series.
OMGee, this is the absolute best first half of a duet!! I usually abhor a book where the end is not the end, but this one didn’t leave me feeling robbed, instead leaving me with a sense of satisfaction and gleeful anticipation. Oh sure, there are plenty of conflicts and fireworks to come, but there’s some definite contentment with at least some of these characters being left in a good place at the end of the first half of Drew and Pippa's story.
Drew and Pippa’s families have been friends for years, and Drew has known Pippa since she was a baby. She's best friends with his younger sister and he's best friends with Finn, her older brother. Finn trusts and respects Drew, but he still has one rule: hands off his sister. No matter how much Pippa has shown interest and flirted with Drew, he's honored Finn and his rule. And he's done an admirable job resisting Pippa, until she stays with him for a week to help him with home renovations. Pippa is determined to get what she wants and she wants Drew. Poor Drew doesn’t stand a chance.
This is an author I’ve been with since the beginning and her work keeps getting better and better. Her writing makes me forget everything but the story that has swept me into its vortex and is completely consuming me, and Drew and Pippa's is a barn burner. The tension is delicious, their chemistry is holy-smokes scorching and I was in agony waiting for these two to finally get together! Drew and Pippa's story is so electric, enchanting and intoxicating I devoured it easily in one sitting while the rest of the world disappeared. There are tugs to the heartstrings, touches of humor and just enough conflict to make this a well-rounded romance.
If you’re like me and hate cliffhangers, you probably steer clear of duets. If there ever was a part one of a duet to take a chance on, this is it. It offers enough at the end to leave you with some of that happy sigh we all love while creating the best kind of anticipation for what’s to come, yet not leaving you feeling like you’re missing something big. One click this one today so you'll be ready for the rest of Drew and Pippa's story in two weeks.
*I read an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.
This story is kind of tragic because of a situation that happened in the past for Pippas brother and Drew’s best friend. The hot factor with these two is off the charts. But can Drew show Pippa he really wants forever by fighting that past with her brother!
The dynamics of these two characters and the people around them is gripping and you will want to get to the end to see if they can make it work. They have a true friendship; a long time denied chemistry and love. Drew keeping away from being around Pippa hasn’t cooled that down. Love sometimes doesn’t seem like it will be enough.
I really liked the blurb about this book. Best Friend’s little sister is a trope I love to read. And I love to try new authors, so this seemed like a great fit. This book is also not a standalone-it is written as a two part book, so leaves the reader without a solid ending.
Love Block is about a woman in love with her brother’s best friend, or the man’s best friend’s little sister. They’d tried denying the feelings due to age and other circumstances, but despite it all, they are drawn to each other.
Pippa is a great character. I liked how she felt she was worth the effort, worth the sacrifice, worth the actions. All her feelings were real, valid, and relatable. Drew was a mostly relatable guy. You want to like him for so many reasons, but to me, there was an underlying thread of distrust or questioning.
Drew and Pippa’s long history led to steam. It had elements that were organic and flowed well; though at times it also felt forced and stilted. While some of that is a bit true to life, overall it left me a little meh.
Never having read anything by this author, I felt a bit like I was dropped into a conversation mid-way through and I’m missing some important backstory. And I had trouble keeping Pippa and Piper straight; my brain has troubles with names that are very similar while reading. I’d get sucked into certain scenes, then the next chapter would drag.
Well, I’m invested, so I have to read book two. But I am going to have to dig deep to see if I want to go back and see if I’m missing a story about Pippa’s brother to get more backstory to complete their world.
Tense and steamy, Love Block is a best friend’s little sister story that ratchets up the emotion by making it clear that our couple is in love from the very beginning. A mysterious event from their past means Drew knows without a doubt that Pippa’s brother will never accept him as a suitable partner for his little sister. It’s this fact that holds him back - Pippa makes no attempts at keeping her feelings for Drew a secret, so it’s all up to Drew to move the relationship forward. When Drew buys a cottage in need of repairs, Pippa joins a group of friends in helping to renovate. Things finally come to a head between them when they are left alone, and Drew is forced to decide if he’s willing to risk his relationship with his best friend in order to move forward with Pippa.
There’s a lot to like about the book - the writing is great and I could definitely feel the sparks between these two. For the most part, Drew is a likeable guy and it’s only towards the end that I had any issues with him. I would’ve loved some flashbacks to help establish their relationship a little more - those moments of lightness really would’ve broken up some of the tension and angst in this story. For me, two things hold the book back from being a 5-star read - Pippa’s aggressiveness in pursuing Drew, even when she’s not sure of his feelings, and Drew’s continued indecision. This is not the end of their story; it’s not exactly a cliffhanger but things certainly aren’t settled between them at the end of the book. If the first half of their love story is this full of angst, I’m not sure what to expect from the next half, but I doubt it will all be smooth sailing.

(Audio Review) Resisting the Best Friend's Sister is a prequel/part 1 of Pippa and Drew’s romance. Pippa is Drew’s best friend’s younger sister, and also, his own sister’s best friend. Their romance is a forbidden one, not just because their families are so close and intertwined with each other but because of a past traumatic event that happened within Pippa’s family (and an event that still plays heavily on Pippa’s brother’s mind). When Drew buys a new cottage that needs renovating, Pippa shows up uninvited – after he tried to stay away from her for a year – with plans of staying the weekend to help with the renovations. Sparks fly and Drew just cannot stay away any longer.
This book delivered on all the angst and was such a roller coaster of emotions. At first, Pippa annoyed me as she seemed to be throwing herself at drew, but we eventually find out that though Drew reciprocates her feelings, he has to fight said feelings and stay away from her for good reason. This was more than a standard forbidden best friend’s sister romance. They had much to overall come to finally get their happy ending.
This was a short but great intro into the series/duet of Pippa and Drew’s story. It is only 150 pages, and although, they seem to get a happy ending here, it is obvious something happens, and it all comes to head in the next book which concludes their story. I cannot wait to read that book.
I read and listened to this via eBook and audio. The audiobook was narrated by Stephen Dexter & Summer Morton who were both amazing with their narration. The characters and their stories were brought to life, and I very much enjoyed the listening experience.
A best friend's older brother romance you won't want to miss.
In love with her older brother's best friend Drew, Pippa has been pining for Drew for years but has no idea that Drew wants her just as bad. The only thing keeping them from pursuing one another is Pippa's older brother Finn who has expressly forbidden his friends from ever dating his sister. Drew even goes so far as to avoid Pippa entirely for over a year to tamp down his temptation. But when the two are left alone for a few days while they fix up Drew's new cottage they discover that the feelings that have been simmering for years finally boil over in the best possible way. But how will they tell Finn and will he see their relationship as a betrayal of his trust? This fantastic read is filled with lots of angst-filled passion, saucy moments and lots of sexy banter. Love Block is the perfect beginning to the Love Lock Duet and the ending is not so much a cliffhanger as merely a good stopping point to continue development in book two. I wouldn't even call it a cliffhanger at all. Drew and Pippa share explosive chemistry and I can't wait to devour book two because I'm totally in a book hangover from Love Block. So add this series to your TBR and be prepared to completely fall in love with this forbidden romance from this incredible author.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Are you after a sweet HEA? If so then this one is for you. Finn and Pippa have been friends forever or so it seems as Finn is best friends with Pippa's brother. Pippa's brother has made it very clear that Finn and Pippa and together is the last thing that he wants. The more Finn and Pippa spend time together and since they are both unattached the harder it is for them to deny the feeling they have for each other. A week spent together working on Finn's now lakeside house may just be too many temptations but how will Pippa's brother handle the news?
EXPERT My eyes flick to her chest and my heart slams in my rib cage. "Shit, Pippa, you're hurt." Without thinking, I rush to her, my fingers lightly tracing the large blue welt cresting her cleavage. Her skin's wet and soft. She laughs nervously, trembling at my touch. Upon closer inspection, it dawns on me tat the bruise isn't fresh. It's neither swollen nor red, but the realization doesn't stop me from touching her. "Oh, this isn't from now." She shivers, her eyes darkening. "I got this from paintball a few days ago"
Love Block is the first book in a duet by S.M. West and at first glance seems like your usual trip down the forbidden love trope. But this ‘best friend’s sister’ novel has a slightly different edge to it. Drew hasn’t been warned off his best friend, Finn’s sister just because of the ‘bro code’. There’s an underlying current of angst and emotion devastation that makes Finn act the way he does. His sister Pippa has known Drew all her life, but after she hit her teens, her familial feelings toward him changed and now she crushes on him big time. Everyone knows how she feels, even Finn, but he’s adamant she stays away from Drew, and vice versa. Drew is in big trouble. He never meant to have feelings for Pippa, but it happened anyway. He tried his hardest to hide them even going so far as avoiding her for a year. But all it takes is a few days along at his new cottage that he’s renovating, and the chemistry they share combusts and all bets are off. While, this was a good story, it was a bit frustrating too, the characters were very likeable, and they certainly had that burning attraction that almost melted my kindle. I liked their banter and how well they actually knew each other, but were still clueless in other ways. Did I like how it ended? Mostly, but I’m on edge for the second half to see where this goes.
Love Block is the beginning of Pippa Raine, a sports therapist, and her brother's best friend, Drew Hayes, an attorney. Pippa has always had a thing for Drew, but he's never gone there because her older brother is his best friend. Her brother also reminds him on a regular basis that his sister is off limits. Drew is now a single man, and Pippa is coming with his sister to see his new cabin that he purchased. He's flipping out because he's not sure how the hell he will keep her at arms length. So there's a HUGE push & pull that really pissed me off, and I place all the blame on Drew. However, their chemistry is of the strong variety which won't be denied, especially when everyone leaves & Pippa stayed to help him. Finally, he can't hold himself back any longer, and they set the sheets on fire. But Pippa's brother comes up early, and now crap is going south quickly. I LOVED this story, but I hated how it seemed to just end abruptly. So, I'm hoping the conclusion is a bit longer, as there are things going on, plus Pippa & Drew are new to what they're doing. In conclusion, I'm 100% needing the next book, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This first installment of the duet is a warm hearted love story with some 'will they, won't they' thrown into the mix. You find yourself becoming invested in the story of Drew and Pippa as they try to navigate their way through all the reasons why they shouldn't be together; the biggest one being Pippa's brother, Finn. My heart went out to them both because they've denied their feelings for each other for so long and despite trying to get on with their lives, the heart knows what it wants. You're there with them every step of the way and keep hoping they can find a way through it all and have the happiness they crave.
I love how this author writes and always find myself becoming lost in her books and unable to put them down until I get to the end. In the case of Love Block, I wasn't ready for the story of Drew and Pippa to end and jumped straight into book 2, Love Lock, as soon as it dropped onto my Kindle. Whilst the first book doesn't end in a cliffhanger and is more of a happily ever after for now, you just know there's more to come and I recommend that you definitely pick up book 2.

5 Love Lock stars!!! Passionate, romantic and addicting!
What a great start to the series! I read this book in one sitting and I couldn't put it down. There's so much passion and romance that just hits you right in the face. I loved the storyline, it's a lot different than most that I've read, which is super refreshing! I can't wait to read the next book in the duet!
So I love books like this, when the characters all interact and are one big family. This is the case with Pippa and Drew. It's forbidden but neither can deny their feelings. I give Drew props for hiding his feelings(the best he could anyway), standing his guard and respecting his friends rule. He knew he had feelings for Pippa but kept his distance. He even had a girlfriend for years but couldn't stop thinking about Pippa. Being thrown together while working on his cottage stirs up lots of emotions for both of them. I laughed at how obvious their little looks and innocent touches said so much to their friends. The only one who refused to see it was Pippa's older brother and Drew's best friend(same person). They have steamy times in the bedroom. This was a great start to the series and I can't wait to see how all this plays out in the second book!
What a great read! Love Block is filled with angst and suspense. I spent most of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Pippa is sweet, hard working, and single minded. She’s the kind of person I would like for a friend. Drew is incredibly sexy and the most loyal friend you could imagine. It’s clear from the beginning that they belong together.
The plot has a slow, steady build up. I found myself getting impatient with Drew, waiting for him to finally realize what had to be done. Their situation was impossible.
This is my first book by S. M. West, and I truly enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to the next book in the duet, Love Lock. My only complaint is that the epilogue wasn’t included in the book; it has to be downloaded separately via Book Funnel by signing up for the author’s newsletter. That being said, the epilogue was worth the hassle.
I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Drew and Pippa. She's his little sister's best friend's and his best friend's Lillie sister. Yeah crazy right. But they have been friends forever and there has always been a connection, but due to a past almost tragedy, Finn won't allow Drew to even consider Pippa. So got the last year Drew has avoided her at all cost. Not she shows up with his sister to work on his new cottage. Pippa had always wanted more with Drew and knew Finn would freak, but she can't fight it any more. Both Drew and Pippa want it to work but worry about Finn. Can't wait to see what happens next

I liked this story! But it did annoy me more than I would've liked lol
First I couldn't stand why it took Drew so long to tell Finn about his relationship with Pippa. I understand why he was so hesitate, but it was annoying.
Second Pippa had some moments of brattyness and it just got to me.
Third and the most annoying, it ends on such a good note. BUT then you find out that in the next book THEY BREAK UP. UGHHH.
Yes I get that that was the author's point, like they wanted the prequel but I don't like back and forth crap in relationship. ESPECIALLY knowing that SO much time went on and Drew and Pippa weren't together. She got married for crying out loud. UGH I'm disappointed.
Part of me really wants to see what happens but the other part of me feels like I ended on a good note and don't want to get frustrated with the WHY of the break out.
Sorry for this rant lol And sorry if I'm done for feeling this way after a novella LOL

Drew and Pippa have been drawn to teach other for years and their families are intertwined in a way that made it almost impossible to avoid each other and their feelings. When Drew buys a cottage and friends start to come help him renovate, him and Pippa find themselves left alone. Although they both know Drew’s best friend and Pippa’s brother, Finn, will not approve, they finally act on their feelings. This story was so well written with dual POV that gives readers insight one what both Drew and Pippa are thinking. The story comes to a climax when Finn shows up at the cottage and the truth comes out. The story wrapped up on a happy note, but there is a bit of a cliffhanger until we find out how Drew and Pippa handle Finn’s rejection of their relationship. Looking forward to the next book!!

Love Block is book one in the duet Love Lock and for those of you who don’t enjoy duets due to the cliffhanger, this is one that you should be ok with. It leaves you happy, but patiently anticipating the other story of what is yet to come. This story is about a forbidden romance between siblings BF’s. It was told from a dual POV, so we get to see the emotions of how both Drew and Pippa are handling this new territory as I will call it. You will love these characters, well okay may not Finn (Pippa’s brother and Drew’s BF) at the moment. I am hoping that will change in the upcoming book though. So, for those of you who enjoy these types of stories get lost in the renovation and these characters. It is an easy read for those night you just need to step away from reality.
This one was quite interesting. The first one I have read from this author. It was very intense and interesting storyline. Drew has wanted Pippa a long time. But out of respect for her brother he has stayed away. For a year he has ignored and avoided her. But then she shows up on his door step with her sister and ends up staying for a week to help him with his new house. Things between them heat up even if Drew knows that they shouldn't because of Finn her brother. But that doesn't stop Drew from having intense feelings for Pippa. But once Finn find out things don't go so well. Will these two get happy ever after? I loved this one and cant wait to read the next one. S.M West gained a fan with this book and these characters
So enjoyed this lovely read. It had everything to tick the boxes for me, caring & kindness, irresistible sexual tension which translated to high heat in the bedroom. There were anxious moments, tender moments & some fabulous feel good humour & banter. Add an irritating over protective toxic elder brother into the mix & there could be trouble still to come for this lovely couple but destiny is irrefutable & they are determined to own it. Can't wait for the second book! I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
