I loved the whole premise of this story as I'm personally going through sending my daughters away to college, so it hit home in many ways. What prevented me from rating 4 stars was that I felt that the characters weren't as developed as I feel they could have been. I was just beginning to feel like I was starting to care about them and the book was finished. Also, the friendship between the moms could have definitely been expanded upon, there were just a few get togethers and a couple of mention ...more

A great book that jumps into the lives of relatable women who are each facing a turning point. The author focuses on the emotions of each main character and the “lovely” endings will leave a smile on any reader’s face. This book was an unexpected treat and wonderful to read. I look forward to more books by this author.

I really enjoyed this book. All the women had very different life experiences but are going through the same emotional experience of sending a well- loved daughter off to college. Felt very true and now.

As a mother getting ready to see my children off to college this story appealed to me. The thoughts and feelings presented in the book were exactly what I have been going through. I was excited to start reading this story about mothers who are facing a huge shift in their worlds.

Sadly, the book left me a little disappointed. I wish the friendship of the mothers would have been the focus of the story. We first meet the 4 women when they are dropping off their daughters at college. From there the

This book is a story of family and personal growth. It details the lives of four women and their college age daughters.

I enjoyed the book but was disappointed that the promising beginning where we meet these ladies did not continue. We follow the individual stories, but the point of these families meeting on the campus of a nearby college where the daughters are starting their freshman year is lost. I felt it should have led into a relationship between the families and not served as the way to

I enjoyed this book. Harper, Luna, Chloe and Jillian all meet as their daughters are starting college. The characters were great. All the ladies were different in personalities, life experiences and with the challenges currently in their lives. And the challenges are pretty monumental. But they forged a friendship. They gave each other support, strength and courage to deal with everything. I enjoyed the journey of each woman. The presentation of the events month by month was unique and it was a ...more

The Lovely Here and Now by M.M.Arvin

4 women meet as strangers, thanks to their daughters who are freshmen in the same college.
Each woman is carrying her own baggage .
Be a fly on the wall as you get to know them better, learn about their fears and their desires.
Through these 4 protagonists author M.M Arivin showcases what women of that age group go through, and does so brilliantly and with utmost compassion.

This simply and wonderfully written book is devoid of cliches and everytime you think you

A charming story about four women who first meet while dropping their children off for their first year of college. The women are all at crossroads in their life, all from different backgrounds, but they form fast friendships. The book follows each of them for a year, sharing their point of views and the changes in their lives.

Despite not having much in common with these women personally, I still found their stories relatable and engaging. All of the characters are introduced at once so it is a

Four mothers take their child to college and they meet at a Starbucks, The mothers decide to get together after going back home. The story tells us what happens the first year after their child isn't there taking up so much of your time. What do you do? It was interesting to read about the journey of these four women. You basically recreate your life and find out who you are now that your child is grown up.
The part that stood out to me is, the feeling that she was exactly where she should be set

This is a pretty good first novel. It is about four women that met when they were taking their daughters to UCF for their freshman year. Even though they each came from vastly different backgrounds, they became best friends. For me, it was a little hard to keep track of the women, their daughters and any peripheral people in their lives at the beginning. Each of the four had their own stories, secrets and baggage. I would read other books from this author and I would recommend it to family and f ...more

I enjoyed M.M. Arvin’s debut novel.

This started with 4 very different personalities all in very different situations. Watching the way their friendships grew and the character development was great !!!

Harper, Luna, Chloe and Jillian - they were so different yet they were able to help each through struggles and the good times!!

I received this in exchange for fair and honest review.

Nice story, but predictable

It was a nice story. It took awhile to get used to the 4 main characters so it was confusing for the first 5-6 chapters. It was my first read by the author. Quick, easy read. I would try this author again.
