This novel was so well written in telling the story of Tasha's life. I found it impossible to put down. While reading, I experienced so many emotions as this teenager experienced more grief than an adult. The characters were realistic as some of their reactions to situations were the truth. Ralph and Vashon were 2 that should have definitely been punished in the worst way. QUA came around and proved his worth and Pepper was such a wonderful and true friend. This was truly a remarkable read that will forever be etched in my mind. Highly recommended
This book was simply amazing! I had heard so many people talking about how this book took them through every emotion and when I first started to read it I was thinking that maybe it was as good as people made it out to be simply because I was a immediately disgusted with Ralph in the very beginning of the book but I'm so glad that I continued to read....S.Yvonne you wrote the hell out of this book! It really pulled me in and made me feel everything that Tasha, Peppa and Qua were going through...You touched on some of the hard ass subjects that we as authors don't want to talk about sometimes and didn't give us that true happily ever after that usually only happens in books...you gave us the real, down right gritty story and I thank you for it! This was actually my first time reading a book by you and it definitely won't be my last!
This was my second time reading something from this author but I will say I loveddddddddd this read. Sometimes you never know what anyone maybe going through, they maybe looking strong on the outside but on the inside just completely dead. Tasha story had real life tears in my eyes because living in the hood things like this happens everyday and nobody will speak on or acknowledge it. I LOVEDDDDDDDDD Qua because he was just a standup guy from the beginning and the love he had for Tasha was priceless. Great great great read S. Yvonne
This Standalone had me emotional 😭 Tasha was so strong I thought she would have pulled herself together from all she had been throw this was a very good Standalone and a good read for some that are going through something or know someone who is my first time reading this Author want be my last
This was an amazing storyline with character development that many can relate to. The author will pull out your emotions with scenes so well written you can picture them like you’re watching a movie. I recommend this five star read to readers who enjoy great writing. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
I loved it. When u have loyal rider friends u keep them. Life is a lesson learn u just got to be smart and learn from it. Tru and Pepper much love they are the Awesomest!!!!!
Omg this book was an amazing read! My very first time reading from this author & i bet my bottom dollar it won’t be my last! This was def a rollercoaster read (in a good way) if you’ve read this book you would understand where I’m coming from my eyes were very teary(somebody was def cutting onions😂😂) nah on a serious note i loved it.....it hunted me to my heart how Tasha went out but it was to be expected a young girl going thru more things then an average adult having to play the adult role way too early! I must say i loved her & QUA together❤️ they were like the dynamic duo💯 i really thought he was going to leave her when he felt she was cheating but I’m glad he didn’t. Tru & Pepper was AMAZING friends even though they went thru things I’m glad they were still able to make it out & come out on top & pull not only themselves together for the sake of LYRIC. The friendship they had with Tasha & Qua was def a solid 1. I loved everything about this book even the sad parts. Glad mr nasty got what he what he deserved! I’m glad everything worked out for the better & qua was able to rekindle a relationship with lyric in the end & im sure Tasha will live on thru all of them.....please keep up the amazing work & I’ll def be reading more from you in the future! Your writing is def a work of ART 💯❤️🙌🏾💪🏾😍
I wish the author had went over their edit before turning this in. Anyway back to the story. The story depicts the struggle of a teen growing up the hood, but also how manipulative the police can be. Tasha already had her demons trying to survive her home life, then here comes something else. I will say her character held a lot of strength until she couldn't. Qua willingness to stand by her in her time of need was even more appealing. That was a major plus, he was some young weak dude who ran.
Now Pepper displayed what friendship truly means. She was adamant in her right to take on the responsibility her friend always asked of her. That was, to me, the highlight of the story. Though all of their circumstances they found their own growth. Life in itself is a struggle, but to be able to identify what you purpose is will get you through the storm. Not every is so lucky, but we still press on to live and love for them.
Tasha and Pepper were best friends. Coming from their background-bad parents, projects living, no father, these bff’s swear they are going to make it out. Tasha has a beautiful voice and Pepper is her biggest cheerleader. Qua is Tasha’s bf and in the streets with his boy Truth. These young hustlers are trying to make the money and get their girls together as well. Tasha has a secret she has been harboring or should I say quite a few but finally tells her man. Pepper and Truth start really dating and find themselves in love. The author honed in on soo many different issues in life when Tasha gets pregnant. They say it takes a village to raise a child and the village steps in when Lyric is born and her mom is gone. Qua grows into a grown man right before our eyes behind but it will be okay because when you need those true friends when family is not around and they will become that family! Bravo S.Yvonne
This book brought out all emotions. My heart went out to Tasha and the pain she endured at a young age. Her mom was a disgrace and always talked bad about her. How can someone feel that way about their own child. No child should go through such a horrific lifestyle. Ralph used her weakness to get what he wanted and he was a poor excuse of a law officer and a man. Qua lover her unconditionally no matter what her situation was. Try and Pepper was great friends and held it down. It was hard but they made the best of it and Lyric appreciated them. This story needs to be in all.high school libraries. It shows awareness of what can happen when you're scared. As always PLSE TELL AND TRY TO GET HELP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE
It took me a minute to download this book because I didn’t think it was any originality to it but since I started reading I couldn’t stop. I had an 8 hour shift ahead of me and only slept 4 hours! Tasha, Tasha...that girl was stronger than I’d be. She had so much adversity and still held on. The way her mom treated her made me mad, Ralph just as much because his actions led to her downfall. Qua and Pepper was the only constant in her life. Her family let her down yet she still tried. In the end pressure bust the pipes. What happened with Qua was bad enough but that ending had me shedding real tears. I felt this book deep inside and I can’t say that about a lot of others. This was more than entertainment...this is life. Great work
I must say I heard a lot about this book but what I heard did not prepare me for the emotional rollercoaster that this book took me through. My heart went out to Tasha she was dealt a bad hand in life. The love that her and Qua had for each other was priceless even after all that went down between them. All the characters in this book a was well developed the storyline was very realistic and at times I just cried like a baby wondering how in real life people that really go through with what Tasha had to survive. This book was a eye opener. To the Author S. Yvonne I wish I could give more than a 5 🌟 rating because it deserves so much more. Congratulations on a outstanding book.
From page one this book wraps it’s pages around you not letting go. Everybody knows a Tasha, Aqua, Pepper, or a Tru. This relatable true life story for a lot of people we may know and don’t even realize it. It shows that just by looking on the outside you never know what someone is truly dealing with in there lives especially on the inside. This book can’t help but make you feel for her. And the people in her life. It makes you want to just reach through the book and hug her and say everything will be alright. It pulls you into this raw gritty drama leaving you emotional until the end. Phenomenal book.
Tasha was such a strong woman and didn't realize it, Growing up with how her mom treated her and where she lived . I'm glad she had pepper and even when pepper was fighting her demons tasha had her back. Qua love was unconditional and even when most men would leave he fought through it educated himself and went back to loving tasha and he said he would always protect her. Her mom vashon i had no words for Eli none at all i knowing losing her brother did something to her. Ralph got what he deserved. Pepper and tru was the def of a real friend raising lyric and keeping a promise. I'm still crying as I'm trying this review great book
I wanna say Thank you the readers group that recommended this book ,I truly wished it wasn't a standalone cause it was so good ,but very emotional i couldn't stop crying cause this book touched so much of everyone's life even part of mine ,my heart went out to Tasha from the beginning till she took her life ,I cried harder cause she left her batgirl behind cause she felt like she had Nobody left and that's real... I not only enjoyed reading this book i appreciated reading it and I'm gonna recommended it to be a great read ...Thank you Yvonne for this great book continue releasing great reads and I'm continue supporting ....
This story had me all in my feelings. Tasha was so strong and Just wish she could have realized how strong she was. I loved Qua because he was a true friend a true rider and he loved Tasha too the moon. This story hit home and it's so true that depression is overlooked in our community because as black women we are known for our strength and people always think she is strong she can handle anything but in reality we are barely holding on. Thank you for this book. Must read!!
Oh my gawd... This book took me through so many emotions and I have cried and cried and cried some more through this entire book. This book was so raw, real and relatable it was like watching a movie. You know that this story is real and belongs to someone you know, heard of or even yourself but haven’t had the courage to pen and bring to the fore front...This is better than any 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read and definitely well written and should encourage other authors to seek this depth and tap into emotions like this book... Great job S. Yvonne I can’t wait for your next tear jerker
This was such a good book. All the characters made you love them. Tasha really tugged at my emotions. She had so much potential she just went through so much and she couldn't take it. Qua was so soft hearted for Tasha. His was was really pure and genuine. I loved Pepper and Tru for stepping up when Lyric needed them. This circle of friends is what friendship is all about good, bad and ugly. Tasha is definitely going to be one of my favorite/memorable characters.
TASHA'S WAS THE STRONGEST PERSON IN HER HOOD AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE AND IT GOT TO THE POINT THAT SHE LOST HER STRENGTH IN HERSELF EVEN THO QUA, PEPPER AND TRU WAS THERE FOR HER ... I'M HAPPY PEPPER AND TRU STOOD UP AND GOT LYRIC NOW I DON'T AGREE WITH WHY PEPPER DON'T SEE THE NEED TO TELL HER ABOUT HER MOM THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY IT MIGHT NOT SEEMS LIKE MUCH BUT IT COULD MEAN A LOT TO CHILD JUST FOR THEM THE FIND THEIR PLACE IN THIS WORLD... QUA WAS ON HIS GROWN MAN STATUS HE TRULY LOVED TASHA AND YOU COULD FEEL IT AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE... RALPH GOT WHAT HE DESERVED....
This novel really touch me it sad but it’s reality for some people . I couldn’t imagine going through what Tasha went through . Tasha was so strong until she couldn’t be anymore . officer Ralph messed a young girl life up and he got his KARMA . I loved that Qua was there for her she really needed him and his action took him from her . Pepper and Tru was a big help they took in a baby for a friend . Glad Qua and Lyric had a good relationship . First time reading from this author definitely will continue Great Novel . I swear this story touch my heart ❤️
I was very pleased with this book. I was a little hesitant at first but was pulled into the story immediately. You can relate to the characters, and you probably know someone that is just like one of the characters. I would have liked to see Vashon get her just desserts....this book bought tears to my eyes as I wept for Tasha's stolen childhood. So many young girls have to grow up before they should and don't get to have a childhood that it hurts. I don't want to give anything away but I am glad Qua turned out to be the man that he was! Great story!
This was a very emotional read for me. Depression is very real and i hate tht Tasha couldn't get the help she needed and thought tht her only relief was death. I was glad tht Pepper & Tru took her daughter even though he was scared bc Pepper was trying to honor her promise to her They raised her into a beautiful young lady and Qua finally got to be with his daughter. This author brought awareness to HIV and depression and i appauld her for tht bc this book was a page turner i hated the Tasha's mother treated her so bad.
This book was sooo good. Tasha was dealt a hard hand from the beginning. She had a very bad upbringing abs besides he momma wasn’t worth too much. He left went to hell once her family member had that tragic situation. Finding out she was infected abs pregnant broke my heart. Qua loved her and he was rough around the edges but he showed her that he loves her. She tried her hardest to care for her baby but that mental health is something serious. I loved this story from start to finish everyone should read this book it is definitely a eye opener. Great job definitely a banger.
This book was so good. I felt so bad for Tasha, she really had it hard. I mean sheeeesh😩 I truly hated Ralph. I’m glad that Tasha had Pepper in her life, even though she was dealing with her own demons. QUA really loved Tasha and I’m glad the he eventually came around and stayed in her life. Thank goodness Lyric grew up with ppl who loved her. Man this book was sooooo good.
This book really touched me. From the very beginning Tasha had a hard life. She dealt with the all too familiar realities of growing up in the hood. Mistreated, seemingly unloved and amazingly resilient she truly faced a perilous journey. I would have liked to see whatever became of Summer. I also loved that even in spite of all the tragedies in her life she still managed to inspire so much loyalty with Qua, Pepper and Tru. Great Book!!!!
Man, I hated for this book to end. I shed a couple tears, I ain't even gone front...
Tasha was born in the worst position possible, to be so young she had the entire world on her shoulders. UQA, though his temper could be a bit too much at times, he loved Tasha more then anyone. She held down her friend Pepper and vice versa and later on in life Pepper would honor the wish that mattered to Tasha most. A definite page turner and a well done story as always by the author.
Wow! I don’t even know where to start. I cried so much reading this book, because the reality of so many situations were revealed. This was my time reading a book by this author and I’m speechless. This book was amazing and I’d recommend it to everybody out there. It’s raw and uncut. It’s the truth and many authors lack that. This book will be a favorite and I’m so appreciative of such an amazing read.
So beautiful. So raw. Man my heart went out to Tasha. It’s so true when they saw check on your string friends. Qua man he was so good to her! Yes he had a scare but who wouldn’t. He was a little rough around the edges but all in all if it wasn’t for him Tasha wouldn’t have made it that far. This book tugged on my emotions for sure. This read was vivid so real and I really enjoyed it! Great job!
I've never shed so many years while reading a book. This story takes you through so much emotions. This is my first read by S. Yvonne and I swear this is a five star banger. To all the Tasha's of the world be strong and hang in there. I never lived in the projects nor have I had to care for myself as a child, but I am friends with people who did. Life is good if you believe. Great job!
