They have a love-hate relationship with summer.

Sidney and Asher should have clicked. Two star swimmers forced to spend their summers on a lake together sounds like the perfect match. But it’s the same every year—in between cookouts and boat rides and family-imposed bonfires, Sidney and Asher spend the dog days of summer finding the ultimate ways to prank each other. And

This book was a really cute and fun read! It’s like a young adult version of The Hating Game! Sidney and Asher’s families rented houses every summer next to each other at the lake. Sidney and Asher both lived to torment and tease each other. Some of their pranks were pretty hilarious. Their pranks and antics end up getting them kicked out of their houses and lands them in one house. They team up together to prank the woman who kicked them out of their houses and begin to realize their true ...more

"Sidney Walters is a proverbial ray of sunshine-with everyone but me."

Sidney and Asher have one peaceful summer at age fourteen before a battle of pranks ensues for the next four years. Shampoo bottles are replaced with Kool-Aid, flip flops are glued to decks, and floors are covered in mayonnaise. However, after one too many childish pranks, Asher and Sidney’s families are asked to leave their rental home by the owner, and they all move into a new place. The two decide to

Sidney and Asher have a lot in common. They both just graduated high school. They both are competitive swimmers. They will go to the same college in the fall. Only problem, they're enemies.

Their parents are great friends and have been sharing their summer vacation area for years. The first year Asher joined Sidney's family there the two were friends and made great memories. The following summer...something shifted and they no longer got along. They're new memories werent as amicable. They began

Obviously I'm a little partial to this book. Partly because I'm a total sucker for a love-to-hate romcom, and partly because, well, I wrote it. I had a ton of fun writing about these two snarky weirdos and their summer shenanigans (and swoons), so I hope you love it!

Jessica's best book to date! I loved these two characters and their love/hate dynamic and how much chemistry they had! I wish it didn't have to end. Review to come much closer to release.

This is my favorite book of Pennington's yet. I've loved all of them, but Meet Me at Midnight stands out in a way I can't quite put words to. I think part of it is the growth in Pennington's writing, which is bound to come with each book she writes. And part of it is the characters, I simply loved Sidney and Asher. They are equal parts hilarious and awful, sweet and sour...much as we all are at that heading-to-college age. And maybe that's the crux of what I loved - watching their growth and ...more

**I recevied an ARC from Netgalley. These are my honest opinions, and in no way was I compensated for this review.**

I was so excited to read Meet Me At Midnight because of the childhood enemies. It did not disappoint! Meet Me At Midnight is a perfect summer read full of hijinks and love disguised as dislike.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. The story follows a boy and girl, who's families vacation together at a lake for the entire summer. The story starts when the two main characters, Sidney and Asher, are in a kind of pranking war, which has been going on for the last five years until one prank is taken too far and causes the families to find a different house, which they have to share for the rest of the

A very cute story of two kids whose families have vacationed together for the last few years. It's dual POV with hints of flashbacks when necessary to fill you in on the past relationships. This is 100% a YA rom-com novel - don't let the synopsis fool you about the pranking. The pranking is part of Asher and Sidney's relationship with each other, which leads to big trouble for both families. After their summer vacation at the lake is threatened, Asher and Sidney come together to prank a common ...more

The First Half
Um wow. I loved it. The humor was spot on and I couldn't help but laugh. Sid and Ash pulled some phenomenal pranks on each other and it was great.
The Second Half
Around the 44% mark, this book started turning into a romance. There were not really any pranks pulled, and the ones that were pulled were hardly mentioned. There was no humor and I did not enjoy reading it. I did not finish this book,

Sydney and Asher spend their summers together at the lake with their parents. Sounds like the perfect way to fall in love right? Wrong! During the summer the two teenagers go out of their way to prank each other. On their last summer before college it’s go big or go home in the war they have.

When a prank goes horribly wrong both families are kicked out of their lake houses and forced to live together for the rest of the summer. It’s then that Sydney and Asher decide to call truce and team up to

Ash and Sidney have been spending their holidays with their parents in the same lakes houses every year for the last 6 years. All this time they considered themselves archenemies swaping pranks with each other. This year is different, they are seniors and it's probably the last time they are spending all 2 months at the lakes. After Sidney's prank gone wrong they are forced to vacate the houses and look for other accommodation which lands them in one house. With a complete lack of trust and ...more

If you're a fan of the love/hate troupe you will LOVE this book. I adore a good love/hate story so I couldn't put this one down! The writing was great, while it was a YA it was well written and easy to read. I loved the characters so much. While their pranks were a bit childish at times, they made me laugh. I adored Asher. He was sweet, charming and funny! He's everything you want in a book boyfriend! Sydney was a lot

Sidney and Asher spend their summer holidays together because their parents are friends. Their first summer together, their relationship used to be good. But they started to prank each other. Their pranks escalated until one of them is the last straw. And they are kicked from the lake house they have been staying all this summers.
Forced to live in the same house now, they decide to call a truce. And that's the moment when they

This was a sweet, fun book for young adults.

Sidney and Asher's families have been vacationing on the same lake in neighboring houses for years, and the two teenagers have been involved in a prank war.

This summer, when the prank war goes too far and the families are evicted, Sidney and Asher start to discover they may have more in common than swimming, a love for pranks and competition.

The book was fun and the characters were vibrant and realistic, although I did find Sidney's inability to trust

I adored this YA romance for so many reasons! This wasn't just a fluffy romance, it had layers and it had depth as these two 18 year old summer neighbors realize their feelings for each other and try to navigate their relationship. The flashbacks were delightful in adding to the present moment and helped the reader truly understand how they got to the point they are as they are about to head off to college. I really liked the pacing and this was a book I quickly devoured. If you are a fan of ...more

Sidney and Asher have been at war for the last four years, and by war I mean who can out prank the other over the summer break. This year it goes a bit too far and and their families get kicked out of their separate lake homes. I really enjoyed the beginning of this YA romance but by the middle it was painstakingly slow and I started finding myself being annoyed by Sidney. It was good but not great so 3 stars for me.

This book had the perfect balance of layers and swoon.
I always love reading stories about childhood friends becoming something more, and this book took a great spin on it. I think the relationship between Sidney and Asher was developed really well; it didn't feel rushed, and I enjoyed all of their scenes together.
I would have liked to see more closure with Caleb, it seemed like he was "dismissed" really suddenly. But overall, it was a beautifully developed story that I truly enjoyed

This is a really sweet summer romance. It did feel a bit slow for me at times but I loved the chemistry between Sidney and Asher. Their pranks were funny and it felt really realistic to me. Some things felt unfinished, like Sidney's friendship with Kara. Kara just kind of disappears from the story. The same goes with Caleb. The storyline there felt like it needed some closure. The main story with Ash and Sidney felt complete, but the subplots needed some more work. Overall, though, a nice read!

For fans of Kasie West, this adorable romance was a fun fast read. Sidney and Asher had one amazing summer of friendship, followed by five tense summers of prank wars and psychological warfare. When things escalate a bit too far, they are left with the ultimate challenge. A truce. Can their cease-fire last long enough to properly prank the true destroyer of summer fun?

Great character development and storyline. Highly enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this book so much.
Sidney and Asher have been trying to best each other for 5 years. Gluing shoes, mayonnaise slip and slide in bedroom. But what happens when they are kicked out of their summer rentals. They find a common enemy to prank, and realize how thin the line between love and hate really is.

Character were well thought out, but I think the secondary characters could have been fleshed out more.

Jessica Pennington is no stranger to the combination of love and drama. She’s a wedding planner, after all. A writer since the age of ten—when she sought publication for her poem about a tree—Jessica likes the challenge of finding the humor in a sad situation or highlighting the awkwardness in a romantic one. She lives in a Michigan beach town suspiciously similar to the one in her novel, with her ...more
