Julia James

Julia lives in England with her family. Mills and Boon novels were Julia's first "grown up" books she read as a teenager ("Alongside Georgette Heyer and Daphne du Maurier."), and she's been reading them ever since.

Julia adores the English countryside ("And the Celtic countryside!"), in all its seasons, and is fascinated by all things historical, from castles to cottages. She also has a special love for the Mediterranean ("The most perfect landscape after England!") — she considers both are ideal settings for romance stories! In between writing she enjoys walking, gardening, needlework and baking "extremely gooey chocolate cakes" — and trying to stay fit!

Almost a slow burn.
It had it’s finer points like a very mature heroine who has a career in astrophysics, who isn’t starry eyed where hero is concerned, who agrees to a holiday fling with hero and enjoys it, who also isn’t afraid to follow hero (after he exclusively tell her to never come near him again) so the misunderstanding may clear and they remain friends.

Hero.. now there I have mixed feelings. When he was Nic Rossi, he was perfect just like the heroine says. But billionaire Hotelier Nicolo Falcone- I had problems with that man. Especially because he chose not to contact heroine again. He was also ready to move on and choosed a candidate, not because he was attracted to this other woman or something, only because he thought it was time he move on from his holiday romance. That rankled!
As did some of his words to heroine.
Last part of the book was fantastic as was the epilogue.
Recommended and safe.

Wonderful Julia James does it again and really shows off her range with this gentle and sweet romance. It's miles away from the angst and drama of DIRT TO DIAMONDS, my all time favorite. I loved how modern and in control Francesca "Doc Fran" really was, and how Nick the hero never, ever takes her for granted and always listens to her talk about her feelings -- and her career. There could have been more drama, but the night he gets her pregnant is a scene you won't want to miss!

The Heiress’s Pregnancy Scandal was a sweeping tale that paired a modern day royal with a self-made billionaire, bringing us the sparks of attraction you would expect. But that all changed when they learned of each other’s real identities. Then there were fireworks of a very different type: that of distrust and anger.

There were times when the Heiress’s Pregnancy Scandal almost read as two different stories. It was a fun and absolutely lovely road trip-type romance when Fran and Nic first met in America. Read More

An enjoyable romance with the characters learning to understand and live with each others backgrounds, well worth a read.

Francesca is in Las Vegas for an astrophysics conference (she is a Doctor in astrophysics) .Her father is Italian, her mother is daughter of an English Duke. Fran was engaged to Cesare, Conte de Mantegna, but they broke up and Cesare married Carla.
Fran meets Nic Rossi, whom she takes for a security man in the hotel she stays- Las Vegas Falcone.
But she doesn't know that Nic IS Falcone- the owner of the hotel ! He changed his name years ago .He is a self-made man, who rose in the ranks of hotel business. Fran and Nic travel to two places I loved seeing- Bryce Canyon and Zion Canyon. They plan to see the Grand Canyon, too, but Fran is summoned home, as her grandfather is ill.
In London Nic and Fran meet unexpectedly at a party held by Vito Viscari. Nic started in Viscari hotels, but was overlooked fror promotion, which went to Vito.Since then they are rivals. Both learn each other's real identity .Cesare is also there. He mentions to Nic that Fran could be pregnant..So Nic decises to marry her..
Aristocrats versus self-made man , Nic versus Vito (who got his job by nepotism) .Cesare and Carla who stand by Fran. Her crusty old grandfather the Duke and her cousin Harry, the heir to dukedom.

Ah, this book.

It was dazzlingly sensuous alright—I hope that this introduction to Harlequin was only a bad first impression. I hope the others I read this year are much better than this one.

Happy reading!

started off well ... I liked that they actually had a connection while they spent time together ... writing was a bit too flowery at times and I really did not like the ending as much ..

I enjoy this type of storyline. Both the hero and heroine were not entirely truthful about their life and who they were in another life. I enjoyed this book and would reread at some point in time as it was one of those books that just stuck with me. Enter Francesca who is an aristocrat something that Nic Facone has no use for as he came up from the gutter and became a billionaire through hard work. They part ways when she has to return to Italy for her grandfather who is ill. They meet again at a party and he doesn't want anything to do with her. She goes to his apartment to find out what is wrong and why they couldn't part as friends as they had done in the United States. He and she have a chemistry that cannot be denied and she ends up pregnant although she wasn't going to tell him as she promised him, that he would have not hear from her again. Her ex fiance has other ideas about him knowing and confronts him. Read the book to find out what happens next.

Nice story where two from very different social upbringings fall for each other. Of course add n that they both kept there true identities a secret snd you get a real good plot!

The best part of the book were the concluding chapters.
