This collection of three novellas focuses on Halloween. The book opens with the title story featuring Leslie Meier’s protagonist Lucy Stone. A couple has moved into the old abandoned house in town, but they are rebuffing efforts from Lucy and others to welcome them to town. Then strange things start happening and rumors start flying. What is happening? Up next is “Death by Haunted House” by Lee Hollis which takes up back to 2009 and shows us what life was like for Hayley Powell while she was mar ...more

I so enjoyed this book! I like cozy mysteries. I like holiday and seasonally-themed books. I like novellas. Haunted House Murder is all three wrapped into one wonderful anthology! The pacing is spot-on and the writing by all three authors is superb.

Haunted House Murder starts out strong with a delightful Lucy Stone mystery by remarkable author Leslie Meier. Someone has moved into the old dilapidated Victorian by the elementary school. The new homeowners' behaviors are mysterious and downright fr

In the first tale we are taken to Tinker's Cove where a new family has moved into what everyone looks at as a Haunted House. Lucy tries to meet the newcomers but soon learns that not only are they standoffish but also a tad weird. She soon becomes concerned that the husband is an abuser and tries her best to let his wife know that she is not alone. Things get crazier when strange noises can be heard coming from the house at all hours. Follow along as Lucy investigates and learns that looks can b ...more

This is a fun collection of Halloween mini-mysteries that are part of 3 series I read. They are easily written to be read as stand-alone stories for anyone not familiar with the series, and make excellent companion novellas for fans of these authors. Each story has the perfect feel to get you in the Halloween spirit. Haunted House Murder and Death by Haunted House both involve mysterious and eccentric newcomers to town. Hallowed Out is centered around a haunted house tour offered for Halloween w ...more

This book is a collection of three Halloween-themed cozy mystery novellas, all set in Maine.

Haunted House Murder by Leslie Meier continues the story of Lucy Stone and her family in Tinker's Cove. A new couple has moved into a home in need of repairs and their behavior raises suspicion from Lucy and the townspeople. When one of her family may be in danger, Lucy flies into overdrive into finding out what's really going on behind their closed doors. Her attitude and behaviors have tried my patience

This book is actually a collection of three Halloween-themed novellas. All three are set in small towns in Maine and the characters are preparing for Halloween in a variety of ways. Overall, I would rate the book 4 stars, which is an average of my rating of each individual story. Each story was entertaining and it's a great collection to get in the mood for Halloween.

The first story is "Haunted House Murder" by Leslie Meier which I would rate 4 stars. I have read a few full-length novels featur

Another great holiday cozy mystery collection of Maine cozy mysteries from authors Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis, and Barbara Ross.

The first in the book is Leslie Meier's Haunted House Murder, featuring Tinker Cove's intrepid part-time reporter and full-time mom/grandmother, Lucy Stone. A scary house across from the school has new, and not very friendly, owners, and when strange noises and sounds start emanating from the home Lucy's on the case to discover what's going on behind closed doors!

I have to admit, this book kind of threw me in the beginning. When I got to the end of story number one and no murder had actually happened, I felt like I stepped to the edge of a cliff and fell off before the end of the book. I originally thought this was a story only by Leslie Meier. On the book cover her name is so huge, I overlooked the other two author’s names. I was three chapters into the next story before I realized this was three short stories and not one big story.

Haunted House Murder is a novella with three stories by three different authors.
I'm a big fan of all the authors and I was delighted to see them collaborate on this book.

The first story is written by Leslie Meier. I've read every one of her books several times. I consider her my go to author when I'm in need of reading a comfort story.
In this book, Lucy Stone is preparing for Halloween when she gets an unexpected phone call from her son, who needs a sitter for his son. Of course Lucy jumps at th

HAUNTED HOUSE MURDER by Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis, and Barbara Ross is the third anthology book the three talented authors have teamed up for. With three Halloween-themed novellas to provide short, goosebump-worthy reads, each author spins tales based on their much-loved characters from their long-enduring series. As you would expect, each novella has different characters and much different storytelling styles.

Leslie Meier writes a soft mystery intertwining a social issue. I like how she uses th

These are 3 short novellas centered around Halloween and spooky business. I made the mistake of thinking it’s horror and it’s not haha it’s cozy mystery a genre I absolutely love so I wasn’t put off by it at all! The stories were heartwarming and a bit too kitschy for my taste but all in all this is a great collection to curl up in a chair to and just unwind with.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.

Quick, fast-paced Halloween short stories! I read this for Barbara Ross (and her Maine Clambake story was my favorite out of this collection), but the stories by Leslie Meier and Lee Hollis are worth reading too. (Spoiler: There is actually no murder in the first story.) Celebrate Halloween in Maine!

The first two stories had husbands that were very irritating. I almost stopped reading the book because of them. The second mystery was very good however. I enjoyed everything about the third story - the characters, setting and mystery.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I truly enjoyed reading this book, set during my favorite time of the year, Halloween. I want to express my gratitude to both Kensington books and NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Leslie Meier's story was very good and interesting, as always. I like how it was anchored in everyday life, and how the characters are normal people. I appreciated the interactions between Lucy and her grandson, and I really wanted to understand who the new people in tow

Every year on our Maine vacation I put aside at least one book set in Maine. One of this year's books is Haunted House Murder, a compilation of short works from three writers who have well-established series set in small-town Maine.

Leslie Meier's Haunted House Murder features Lucy Stone, part-time reporter and mom (now grandmom) in Tinker's Cove, Maine. A long-abandoned house, reputed to be haunted, has new occupants. Ty and Heather Moon. The Moons are unfriendly and eccentric, to say the least,

The Haunted House Murder is a compilation of three stories by Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis and Barbara Ross. All contain “haunted houses” and there is much fun to be had in the reading of this book.
The title book, The Haunted House Murder by Leslie Meier actually contains no murders but that is immaterial—the story is a lot of fun. Though the novella is lightweight, that isn’t what draws me to Leslie Meier’s books. What I have always enjoyed most about the Lucy Stone series is how the central chara

Ms. Meier's contribution is 'Hunted House Murder'.
Lucy Stone is glad the 'haunted house' in the neighborhood had been sold, but the new owners are not friendly at all. Gossip runs rampant about strange goings on there and she becomes concerned for the wife. Is she abused? No way to tell, but the husband has been rude to everyone he comes into contact with.
When her grandson disappears during soccer practice, she goes into full blown panic mode. When the police arrive and enter the house, everyt

I have read this trio's previous anthologies of Christmas novellas and loved them, so I was excited to see that they had written Halloween stories this time around. All the stories take place in Maine. I enjoy Leslie Meier's Lucy Stone stories. I have read her from the very beginning and my kids have grown up with Lucy's. After readying 25+ books in this series, I shouldn’t be surprised when Lucy’s children are inconsiderate and selfish or when her husband is a chauvinistic pig, but it still bothers me Every Single Time. I want Lucy to be my mother/grandmother, so I can appreciate her properly. I do enjoy when Lucy has Patrick, so that was nice. And overall this mystery was cute. I like that Meier addresses bigger issues in her mysteries and this time it was domestic violence. I liked the descriptions of the spoo ...more

Haunted House Murder is a collection of three novellas by authors Leslie Meier, Lee Hollis, and Barbara Ross that center around Halloween. I must admit that I loved this book, it was just what I needed.

Every night before my reading time, I would pop me a bag of Microwave popcorn and settle in for a good read.

Leslie Meier really knows how to write, giving us the details of Lucy's life down the smallest detail. I feel like I know the Stone family personally. Lucy likes to go to the IGA on Wednesday afternoon, after her Pennysaver newspaper deadline has been met, and she is always a little frazzled with her "to-do" list. - - I know t

There were three really fun mysteries in this compilation. I love all these authors' series to begin with, so I wanted to finally read one of their holiday collections, and since Halloween is my second favorite holiday, (Christmas being my first fave), I couldn't resist requesting it from NetGalley.

The first one, Haunted House Murder, is a Lucy Stone mystery and is actually a shorter missing person type of mystery, but the other two did have the expected murders, and I didn't guess the killers i

Trio Of Haunted Maine Novellas
This is a set of Halloween stories all based in Maine. The stories are; Haunted House Murder by Leslie Meier, Death by Haunted House by Lee Hollis and Hallowed Out by Barbara Ross. In Haunted House Murder the writing is well done, but it is a B grade story. Our heroine is quite the 'doormat' for her family. I finished the story but was 'talking' to the author the entire time. This is the first Lucy Stone book that I have read. Those who enjoy the Lucy Stone series w
