I really enjoyed this sweet, romantic Christmas story by Janet Dailey. I fell in love with Rush, his adorable step daughter Claire and the woman he falls in love with, Tracy.
Christmas, cowboys, a stray pregnant cat....so much love and romance all wrapped up in one book.
A beautiful, heartwarming Christmas story I highly recommend.

This is a sweet story even though it was obvious after a few chapters how it would turn out.

Adorable, and classic Janet Dailey. I love a good JD novel. The characters are always well written. The stories are always full of spunk and spirit. The romance all though expected also has passion.

It's A Christmas Thing by Janet Dailey is a small town holiday romance. Ms. Dailey has given readers a well-written story furnished with an outstanding cast of characters. Rush is the only vet in town and partners in a ranch while trying to adjust to being divorced and told his child wasn't his. Tracy is a widow and a judge that takes in a homeless cat. Tracy and Rush's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice and Chistmas fun. I enjoyed reading It's A Christmas Thing and look forward to my next ...more

Who is writing the new Janet Dailey novels? Were they unfinished manuscripts? Updated older stories? Just wondering.

IT’S A CHRISTMAS THING is a romance that will pull at your heartstrings as it gives you a taste of a beautiful country Christmas celebration. What you need to know before deciding to pick up this story can be found in the Cover Description. What you won’t find there is the emotional tug that Claire will have, the heartbreak that Rush and Tracy both have faced for different reasons and the healing that happens when Rush has the chance to spend time with the little girl

When it comes to books with a Christmas setting I'm pretty much an easy mark. Christmas and Easter tie for my favorite holiday, etc., etc., etc.

Rush and Tracy are both young professionals: he, a mobile veterinarian pining for the young daughter he believed was his; she, a court judge still mourning the death of her husband. You just know there's going to be a happily ever after somewhere.

This book marks author Janet Dailey's fifth book set in Branding Iron, Texas, and the second of three

This book is a fun read. Rush is a vet whose little girl was taken from him when his wife informed him that she loved someone else and that person was the biological father of the child he thought was his own. He moved to Branding Iron Texas and went into business with two of his buddies and also began running a mobile vet office. He gets a call from a female judge (Tracy) he has admired in the past. She has a stray cat she has taken in that is expecting kittens and an old dog she doesn’t want ...more

My Review: I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. The following is my honest review and opinion. As you may know, I am a complete sucker for cowboy romances, and of course holiday books, so when I saw this one I knew I had to read it! I really enjoyed the characters in this story and the way the single parent trope was twisted in a slightly different way. While it still reads like a familiar story it is still fresh and intriguing. I do find that a bit of backstory was left ...more

It's a Christmas Thing is a bittersweet yet heartwarming story that could easily happen. Thank goodness, author Janet Dailey does not leave the reader with the way she begins the book. Veterinarian J.T. "Rush" Rushford doesn’t have much to celebrate this Christmas. My heart went out to this man but knew that it could realistically happen.

As the story progresses, Rush finds hope and a second chance at love with Judge Tracy Emerson. Tracy has also suffered losses in her life so it is a wonderful

Veterinarian J.T. Rushford (better known as Rush) gets a call from a woman who took in a stray cat and is concerned by it's swollen appearance. Turns out mama kitty is just about ready to deliver some babies. Rush recognizes Tracy Emerson as the municipal judge whose courtroom he appeared in regarding littering charges. The matter was quickly cleared up but Rush was definitely interested in getting to know the lovely judge on a personal basis. She is still mourning the death of her husband who ...more

Well, I really wanted to like this and give it 5 stars but there was a character that I felt wasn't right. Rush is a wonderful vet, does everything for the animals and he loves his daughter to no end. Tracy is a recently widowed judge still grieving over her husband. The two of them have a lot to deal with but add his daughter to the mix and a few cats the story becomes very "cute". Except his four year old daughter is more like ten in personality. I have two kids and they both spoke very early ...more

Oh how I loved this story. This is a great book to snuggle up with on the couch and fall into the Holiday season.

Rush was madly in love with his daughter just to find out that he is not Claire’s dad, breaking his heart. When Claire’s mom and her new boyfriend go on vacation they have to leave Claire with Rush. But there is still sadness for Rush and Claire knowing they have to part soon. And then Rush’s new girlfriend brings the fun back into the

I liked this story about two people who are trying to overcome heartbreak and opening themselves up to love. He recently lost his wife and daughter when she admitted that the daughter was another man's. She lost her husband and isn't ready to move on. Or so she thinks. When a furr baby is about to have kittens, she calls on the vet. She realizes how good looking he is, but she doesn't want to because she doesn't think she should be moving on. He vows to stay away because he doesn't want to fight ...more

This was a charming feel good story that would be good at Christmas of course. To be honest, it would be good at other times as well.
The people came across as real, the community and close friends did as well. The emotions were solid and things in the town and the Christmas holiday there were well written.

Both Rush and Tracy (the lady judge) and even Claire deserved a H.E.A. Keep watching, it's coming. The twist towards the end I could see coming but still enjoyed it.

I want to thank NetGalley and Goodreads for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an impartial review; all opinions are my own.

It’s A Christmas Thing is very good book. It has a little bit of everything; cute kid, cowboys, ex-wife, new girlfriend, dogs, kittens and it was at Christmas. It was even easy and fast to read. There is no deep thinking with this one.

The only thing that bothered me was the four year old daughter seemed to be closer to ten. However, it did not bother me

Perfect if you're looking for a light quick read with a happy ending! Rush was crushed when his wife left him and then added insult to injury by informing him that Claire is not his biological child. He's thrown himself into his work as a vet. Along the way, he met Tracey, a widowed judge. Amazingly , when Claire needs watching over Christmas, she ends up with Rush and then Tracey figures out a way to keep them closer. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. There aren't any surprises here. Love this Christmas story so much. Veterinarian J.T. "Rush" Rushford is not looking forward to Christmas with out his four-year-old daughter, Claire. Now he's in Branding Iron, Texas, with his mobile vet practice. Turns out Claire's parents are going on an extended cruise, leaving Rush to take her for the holidays. Then a lady judge with a pregnant cat and an aging mutt takes a liking to the vet and his little girl and gets involved. What a great Christmas story. Love Janet Dailey and her books.

IT'S A CHRISTMAS THING by Janet Dailey is a sweet small town romance. Tracy is a young widow not yet ready to move on. Rush the town veterinarian, divorced and heartbroken over the little girl he raised. Clara was just as heartbroken not understanding why her Daddy had to leave her. Clara's mother refused Rush visitation after revealing he wasn't really the father. Due to a series of unplanned events Rush gets to spend time with Clara at Christmas time. Clara wishes for the seemingly impossible.

An enjoyable Christmas story with twist and turns that held my interest throughout. My heart went out to Rush, a Veterinarian, whose wife divorced him for another man and told him Claire was not his daughter. He was not allowed visiting rights. Enter Tracy, a beautiful judge with a cat, unbeknownst to her, was pregnant and in labor. She calls the only vet in town. Tracy was recently widowed and is still grieving. A friendship develops. I thoroughly enjoyed their story.

A good book for a television series.

Jamey Dailey surely knows how to write a good book. I couldn't put it down. Tracey, Rush, and Clara were among the best lead characters. Clara is four, going on forty! She has a great legality and is very entertaining. This story has animals and they are entertaining, especially Bucket, the ranch dog. There are percheron horses that pull the sleigh in the snow. There are lots of great ideas written about in this story. You will really enjoy it.

What a wonderful Christmas story!

Rush aka Dr. Rushford has been attracted to the local judge since he appeared before her almost a year ago. Now she calls the vet for help with a stray cat that's appeared on her doorstep. Add in a sick dog, a precocious chikd, and a small town of matchmakers and the story's complete. I'd love to see additional stories about Rush's partners.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher for my honest opinions.
