Lana Martin is a strong, hot-tempered businesswoman working in Tokyo. On a whim, she accepts the indecent proposal of her martial arts instructor to become his submissive according to very special rules.
Their affair sets fire to another blaze, this time between her and Honda’s wife, Yuki. Her powerful gentleness is the perfect balance to Honda's harsh demands, and Lana embraces what the couple offers her.
But nothing is truly as it seems, and Honda seems to have skeletons in his closet that are as big as Lana's. Their tempers clash, their sessions turn darker and increasingly dangerous, but Lana doesn't want to walk away.
Grasping at straws and shaken by unexplainable encounters that leave her doubting her sanity, Lana must face the darkness eating her, while pulling back Honda from the brink of madness. Yuki’s unwavering strength keeps them sane - but for how long?

An avid reader of thrillers, science-fiction, horror and romance, I have been writing for nearly 25 years. Lila Mina is one of my pen names.
I am a firm believer in cross-genre literature. Life is too complex, too rich and surprising to limit stories to one genre only. I love blending genres to create powerful characters, emotional plots and exciting stories that hopefully will stay a long time with my readers. My stories feature multiracial couples and sometimes menage who come together, bound by love and passion, to fight against forces bent on taking them apart.
I live in Japan. The rich and beautiful traditions, the amazing nature and the long history of this country are a constant source of creative inspiration.
After more than two years of work, I will release the first book of my TEMPER saga in ebook and paperback in March 2019, and books 2 and 3 in May and July. I am actively looking for reviewers, so feel free to contact me to discuss about an eARC.
A highly explicit and sensual story with paranormal undertones, it is a tale of survival, resilience, personal growth, loyalty and unbreakable love between three unforgettable characters. It takes my readers along the transformative journey of self-discovery of Lana Martin.
Hot mama, y’all… this week’s read was utterly phenomenal. It also left me with some major grabby hands because Temper: Deference by Lila Mina is book one in a trilogy… and it ends with a gotta-know-more cliffhanger. 😱💕
I’m not sure where to start with this review. Mina’s eloquence and handle on the writing craft is splendid. She has an enchanting ability to create characters who both jump off the page and suck you in all at once. Plus, her rich world building had me in Tokyo. I’ve never been, but after reading this novel, I feel as though I have.
Then there is the story itself. I will absolutely be continuing this series because it is engaging, unique, and filled with heart. There were so many unexpected yet beautifully presented surprises in the plot. Things I didn’t even know I wanted to see happen until they did. And the progression of Honda, Lana, and Yuki’s relationship is so well done. Nothing feels rushed or insta-anything. The emotions are raw and real, and the passion is off the charts.
I would absolutely recommend this to all lovers of romance, but most especially those who enjoy a little more depth and diversity to their love stories. This one contains satisfying and well-developed elements of BDSM, polyamory, and interracial romance with a gorgeous Tokyo, Japan backdrop.
Ok, so this book starts out looking like it might end up being just like hundreds of other books out there. Nice girl, meets a dominant man and he introduces her to the BDSM lifestyle, some angst etc. but then it all works out.
BUT IT’S NOT!
You very quickly realise this is one of those books that just gets better and better with every page. Just when I thought that I’d figured out where it was going, I was proven wrong, and I LOVED that. There was so much to keep your interest piqued and I found myself stumbling over my words trying to get ahead of myself to see what was going to happen next.
LANA - I like this woman. She takes no shit and gives zero fucks. She’s a businesswoman with an Italian/Canadian background, working in Japan. She’s the kind of woman that intimidates weak men and they really don’t like her for it. She is an alpha bitch y’all. Hear her roar!
She devotes a lot of time into her other passion (her career being the first) Aikido, and pushes herself at every single class to become more. Her Sensei isn’t too bad on the eye either.
One night after a tough class he tells her to stay behind, as they need to talk. He surprises her greatly when she realises that he is also attracted to her and they share an EXTREMELY sexy moment or two. Like, holy shit!
Now, she’s always been top dog in relationships and but he is offering to be her Dom and teach her some kinky, hot shit. She’s like “let's give this the good old college try”. Kinky. Fuckery. Y’all.
HONDA - This is the kind of man you are desperate to understand. Like, what is he thinking? Is he even interested in anything at all? What does that sexy growl mean exactly?
Yup, he’s the dark, broody, silent type. And most definitely alpha to the core, lol. He knows what he wants and he knows how to get Lana to give it to him.
But you know what? Even though he’s hot as sin and gets me all wet...I really don’t like him. He’s rude and condescending and I kinda wanna punch him in the sac. Multiple times. Might just be me though.
Anyway, he’s her sensei and now her Dom. He’s also married. But not to worry because things are most definitely not what they seem to be.
YUKI- I thought, when we first met Yuki, that she was going to be a problem but was so pleasantly surprised. She was so easy to like and I love her naughty nature. What an interesting woman. It could have gone so badly between the two women but it didn’t. Instead, it was perfection. Yuki, Lana and Honda are the best poly group.
SEX SCENES - The sex was amazing! And finally, someone has written an awesome scene with fisting and rimming! I love it! The more daring the better. Nothing is taboo here, and it was so well written. And although it was steamy, it was also beautiful.
FINAL THOUGHTS - I have never read a book set in Japan before and I found it so interesting. I learned a lot about the culture and would definitely want to read more.
I loved how much was brought into this story and yet it wasn’t overdone. It had a bit of everything and did it also have a wee twist of the paranormal in there? I think so!
I am now desperate to get to the second book, lol, so I’m going to get back into my nest (aka my bed with about twelve pillows and four duvets strategically placed.) and dive right in!
Love, love, LOVE the whole series!!! Mind-blowing, horizon-broadening, eye-opening! Honestly an amazing story.
We have Lana, a multicultural woman with a strong mind and the cutest language. I'll never get over moans of "dios mio" when it's getting heated (which it does like every third chapter and you will love it). I mean, Shades Of Grey, go pack your bags and go to church, bring us the holy water to clear our minds (and ovaries) once we're done reading. I don't even know what to say, let me put it like this: your s/o is going to love you reading this story!!! xD It gave me many sleepless nights (not what you're thinking now, you naughty people) because I either couldn't stop reading out of curiosity or because I couldn't stop reading because I'm a coward and started to think demons were going to take over my body and kill me if I turned out the lights. Oh, did I mention we have some spooky action as well? I don't think I ever read a book before that affected me the way the Temper series did, I mean it. You name the emotion, I bet I felt it! Creeped out, scared shitless, madly in love, loathing, seething (oh that Honda...), turned on, turned off, sad, happy, tired, giddy... Let's save us the time to go through every existing feeling that could possibly be felt, you're getting the point.
But what will forever keep it very dear in my heart isn't the fact that it completely fucked with my emotions, it's the life lesson it taught me. Up until the day I started reading Temper, I thought I was a tolerant and open-minded person. Now I know I'm a fucking stuck-up dweeb! xD I will have to admit I had my problems with the relationship dynamics for a very long time, it tore me apart in ways I never expected and Jesus Christ did I love it!!! I asked myself questions I never thought about before and I honestly believe it made me more tolerant and open-minded when I didn't even know I had to be.
In the end, I just want to thank the author. I think reading this story changed me a little, it changed me for the better. Temper was certainly an experience I won't ever forget, and everytime I think back to it, my emotions are still running high. So thank you, Lila Mina, you are an amazing author! This story was amazing and I'm very grateful I got to read it!!
This was a fantastic read. The vivid writing takes the reader to the streets of Japan and provides insight into the nitty-gritty of martial arts along with the simmering love story between the two protagonists. Thumbs up for this one!
A highly provocative experience that is truly hard to describe in words. Set in the beautiful backdrop of Japan, young, tough, and defiant Lana takes us on a uniquely sensual journey as she is abruptly lured into an extreme BDSM relationship with her aikido master and his wife. The author is truly gifted in leading us down a path which is both alluring and disturbing, and brings a genuine credibility to the heroine's perspective. There were times as I read the words, I wondered as Lana did if I could keep going. And yet, the language and visuals were so delectably seductive, I literally couldn't tear my eyes from the book. As experienced by Lana, the elements are introduced in such a fast-paced and insistent manner, you wonder if the momentum and erotic shock-value can continue. Let me assure you, IT CAN!
I can't believe these words would ever escape my fingertips, but this ain't your garden variety BDSM. After finishing this book, my mind is still reeling from it all. Again, full props to the author for bringing an authenticity to the voices and feelings of the characters. Beyond the raw, feral emotions, there is also the notion of a love story unfolding, strongly binding the characters together. Like the heroine, I have found a new addiction, and will eagerly grab the next in the series for another fix.
Passion is certainly a huge theme within this book.
Lana has a lot of trauma to work through, and she’s not sure how to go about it. Her martial arts instructor, Honda, has ideas. When his wife, Yuki, gets involved, the trio grows a truly interesting bond.
I love the way that the author mixed Japanese culture along with that of the dom/sub. All the characters were uniquely written, but I think the way that the author highlighted all their wishes and desires made them all the more believable. While there is a lot heat, there are also moments where the characters must face challenges inside of themselves, their trauma, and try to heal to better themselves and those around them. I think that’s what made this such a powerful read. Not only do we see the steamy scenes of a dark romance, but we get a feel for why the characters are driven to need those moments.
So you are probably wondering why I gave this phenomenal author's book a 3 star...Now stay with me and all will be explained. It has nothing to do with the book, as it has been perfectly crafted and written in such a way that I have absolutely no doubt that books 2 and 3 will carry on being super. It all boils down to the fact its just not my sort of genre. I give huge credit to the very talented Lila for the marvellous story that herself and her characters created. But alas BDSM has always been an area I've never quite got into.
With that being said... Listen up!!!! The writing is without a doubt flawless, the characters are strong, powerful, loving, and intriguing. The setting being in Japan is an unusual one for me but was a lovely insight into another culture, how it was all described sounded beautiful. And not to forget the lovely Lana is Italian, so reading and learning new words in both their languages was fun and educational!
The dynamic of the trio (Lana, Honda, and Yuki) is complicated and reading how they grow together and individually is amazing. I've not read many books where you have two different types of Dominants and a Submissive so that was enlightening plus mixed in with the Japanese culture as well it made for an interesting read.
Now I will say this, there are some sexual scenes that are not for the light hearted or more accurately if you are a bit prudish haha. The sex is often intense and aggressive but rest assured it is always with consent and with a safe word in place.
There is plenty of the story still left to be told and you are left with many questions unanswered but I am pretty certain over the next 2 books the questions will all be answered.
So if you are looking for a unique, bold, powerful, BDSM inspired romance with an interesting story, then this is the one for you.
A story that opened my eyes and broadened horizons. I am so glad I took a chance and read this book. It was phenomenal. Japanese culture is one I never fully understood but with this story I felt as though I was right there in the midst. There was so much passion and understanding between these characters that at times I felt I was intruding on private, learning moments. This should be on everyone’s must read list. It certainly surprised me and I found myself learning quite a lot about culture and myself along the way.
Only a few chapters into this book I knew I found a real gem. Unique storytelling and a great writing style, phenomenal characters, complex and unusual relations and interactions, and well structured, seamles character development. This book is reshaping genre boundaries with strong, powerful story of unconventional love and diverse ethical, spiritual, and cultural norms. Highly recommended.
Lila Mina is for me one of the most talented woman’s fictions writers I have ever come across.
The Temper Series is like no other I have read. Each book took me places no book has ever and reignited more than just my love for the written word and books. The exploration of Japan - cultural, culinary, its people and places are so immersive I felt as if I had been on a trip. Getting to meet Lana, Honda and Yuki was a pleasure, they became close friends along their road, it was an honour to follow them. I felt all their emotions and experiences so deeply I would be left breathless and tired after chapters but just like Lana eager for more - Lila made sure of that with her deliciously enthralling writing. Take any adult novel you have ever read, add real human emotion and believable character development, seamlessly flowing plots and sex scenes to leave any kinkster hot under the collar and you get Temper. It’s a series with a soul. Lila will leave you weeping over raging boner, she will make you want to never read her work again because it’s all too intense while simultaneously thinking about begging her for more chapters because you just have to know. She is a filthy genius and I hope you will bask in her work too.
Do not settle for less than this level of filth if you love adult novels.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I first started reading this book but I can say that this was a brilliant read. From the very first chapter this book draws you in. This book is set in Japan and the author has gone into great detail with the setting and Japan's culture and customs. The three main characters are all so different but connect together so well. There are many layers to each character that it feels like you are only just beginning to understand them. Lana's unknown past is intriguing and you find yourself wanting to know more. You never know what Honda is thinking and Yuki is so caring you cant help but love her. I am so glad that I gave this book a go and look forward to reading the next books in the series.
EDIT AFTER READING the whole trilogy (it's finished) as well as book 1 of the sequel trilogy:
Attention dear reader, this series is GOOD. I know, committing to reading yet another series can be hard and annoying an a leap of faith. I often read a first book in a series and then just give up. In this case, Temper book 1, Deference, was good enough to keep my interest. Which is great because book 2 was better than book 1 and book 3 was again better than book 2 and book 4 really put the cherry on top.
Now, series that get better are rare unicorns. Mostly in a trilogy you get a blockbuster first novel, then one filler book, and often a finale that some fans love and others are left wanting. In this case it's really different, because the books are like a beautiful present being slowly unpacked. As the series progresses, you get more and more characters, interactions, story and lore. It doesn't lessen or drag. The finale of book 3 was very satisfying and I loved it. Then, when I saw that there was still a sequel trilogy to come, I got really excited because there is so much more that can be added to this world. It's really grand when you find a series and as it goes on, you get to know the people better, and they also get to know themselves better, instead of being perpetually stuck in one frame of mind, which some novel characters have. I really can't wait for book 5, it'll be grand.
I can't recommend this story highly enough. The story and characters are close to my heart, and it's great to see a working polyamoric relationship in a Japanese fantasy setting.
Former review of book 1:
F/M/F erotica set in Tokyo, Japan.
First, the author has considerable knowledge of Tokyo and also Japanese culture. I‘m sure she used to live there and she probably also speaks Japanese, at least at conversation level.
I spent 3 years of my life in Japan, so I had to read this and the author‘s grasp of the culture and language is great.
I honestly hardly noticed the story which starts out as an erotica but then there are also fantasy elements which I guess will be relevant in the next books?
Lana is actually kinda cool. Not the sort of doormat you usually find in erotica, but horny as a chihuahua nonetheless. She and *strongdarkhandsomesilent* Honda put together are quite formulaic that way. It wasn‘t really mentioned anywhere but I‘m sure Honda has a tragic past lurking somewhere.
Honda‘s wife Yuki, the third (second?) wheel in this threesome, is a lesbian-leaning somewhat bisexual champ. She‘s great but on page, she often gets the idiot treatment for not understanding the shit Honda and Lana do. I guess they have a psychic sex connection or something.
Tokyo elements, Yuki and also Japanese lore and culture references get a big thumbs up from me. I think Honda is boring so far but I‘ll be reading the sequels to see where this is going.
I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I was intrigued about this book from the get-go. I've been wanting to get more into polyamorous relationships and this one seemed like the ticket.
The author explained that she does live in Japan and the fact is obvious from the way the characters act within the space. There's mentions of the different parts of Tokyo and standard procedures after earthquakes. Admittedly, a lot of the terminology made things difficult to imagine easily, but I can't fault the author for cultural differences.
I love how both Yuki and Honda are different in their reactions toward Lana, but still with the same vibes. Honda does seem a little too controlling for my tastes, but that's a cultural thing. (Personally I would have just gone for Yuki.) I appreciated the myriad of little mysteries peppered throughout the story. Strange things that happened, backstories not explained. There's a lot to still uncover moving forward without having the standard "they break up, watch them get back together in the next one!" ending that a lot of romance series use so often.
It's definitely a love letter to the country. It's also definitely not your mother's grocery store erotica. While there are some tamer sex-scenes, there are also some that are not for the faint of heart. Everything is consensual, no content warnings needed for that, but this is DEFINITELY not a beginner's erotica. This is the erotica for the people that have read so much other erotica that they're desperately for something new. And it will deliver.
This was an enjoyable read, but I have to admit being confused by Lana and Honda's relationship as Master and Submissive at first. I had to have a dom explain to me that the kink here would be described as roping from the bottom since it's not the traditional submissive relationship I'm used to and I wasn't aware of that kink.
Once explained to me, the book, relationship, and terms used made more sense. It was an enjoyable read with a lot of cultural aspects thrown in that I really enjoyed. From what I can tell of the reviews of later books, this series will take a turn for the paranormal. There were slight hints at it in this book and I'm dying to know who or what that woman at the club was. I'm going to have to pick up the rest of the series to find out
I really wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this story. I really didn’t think it was something that I would be interested in. But after reading the first few chapters it had me hooked.
This story is intense, hot, sexy and suspenseful. An all-around great read.
The author did an amazing job interweaving Japanese culture and customs into the story.
In this first book the characters are only just developing into what is sure to be an interesting and intense love story with intriguing aspects woven in.
Definitely a must read book! Take a chance on this series as you won’t be disappointed.
Wow, wow, wow, I don’t know what else to say! I love it! It’s fascinating and not for the faint of heart. Her words flow seamlessly and she brings the Japanese culture to life. I am fascinated with the paranormal aspect and learning about the Japanese yokai(supernatural creatures of Japanese folklore). There is BDSM and a MFF relationship. While it is intense, it does not come off as crude or over the top at all. It fits with this story and I can’t wait to read the next book!! This is a trilogy and ends in a cliffhanger but the other two books are already out, I would definitely recommend!
Unlike anything I've read before. The intense relationships in this story are handled respectfully. The author has included an incredible setting and the culture is explored well. This first book is a perfect lead in to more, and I look forward to it. This book will not be for everyone...but if you are open minded and interested in a hot (I mean smoking hot), intriguing, well-written story...then this book is for you. If you're not sure, give it a chance, you won't be disappointed.
Fascinatingly unconventional Temper is a white-hot sexy story that will pull you into a storm of lust. An intense sub/dom relationship where limits are tested, have a wide and tolerant mind as you will jump into BDSM and polyamory. It's not only about sex, but about relationships and how we interact in intense situations with one another. Add in an exotic location, and unknown culture dynamics, and you have one unique of a ride.
As a reader who struggles to find well-written FFM stories, I grabbed this book based on that alone. Sadly, those parts of the story turned my stomach.
To me, this book defines the difference between erotica and male-focused spank-bank material. Having one woman suck your d*&k while the other licks you a$$, then making one like your jizz off the other's breasts after you dump your load (and share said load between their mouths) is not sexy.
Nor is a rather cringe-worthy fisting scene (MF) very early on in the book.
If those things are you jam, have had it.
Sexy aside, there's a relatively interesting plot. Even though the meaning of many Japanese traditions are given to readers as info dumps, rather than organically, I enjoyed those.
Additionally, as a person who has experienced many earthquakes, and the aftermath of a few of those, I found myself immersed in those parts of the story.
I guess one could say, this story was hit and miss for me.
This was my first book by Lila, I was very intrigued by the blurb and very glad I gave it a chance because this has been one of the most original and different stories I have read in a long time.
Set in Japan and the author has gone into a hell of a lot of detail in local culture, language, customs and legends. Whilst this was brilliant in the story telling and really drew you into the story, it also didn't help that I didn't know the terminology being used and had to refer to the glossory at times, taking me out of the story, this may well be me just being picky as I like to know the ins and outs of a story, but quite honestly this is the only negative for the whole book.
The story line was addictive and enthralling, highly erotic with dom/sub and power play, m/f, m/f/m and also f/f with an undercurrent of the paranormal with the story including local legends and customs - I must say I think there is far more to this than meets the eye and expect a lot more of this in the next books!
Based around the three characters, Lana is a European and Honda is her martial arts instructor and their relationship develops more into dom/sub, this deepends further when Honda introduces his wife Yuki into the relationship as well.
Beautifully written, well paced with very layered characters. Lana and Honda share a raw, animalistic type passion, both battling each other for dominance. Lana's relationship wih Yuki is more caring, sweet and delicious.
A truly fascinating read that leaves you wanting more - there is a lot of sexual goings on in this so be warned, go in with your eyes and mind open. I can't wait to read the next book!
Ms Mina has crafted a book that takes you right into Japan. Not only is the story awesome, but the attention to detail, the explanation of Japanese culture and the reality of life there has your feeling like you were THERE! So many stories are either written in the western world for the western world or in the eastern world for the eastern world. This book is set in the eastern world but written for both. Mina has gifted us with a tale that draws you in and holds you there and the heat? Make sure you have a glass of water and some decent alone time because you are not going to want to put this down! Best book hangover, ever!
Temper: Deference is a gripping and compelling paranormal erotic romance. Ms. Mina does a superb job representing a healthy and proper dom/sub relationship, which is so often misrepresented into today's literature. The setting of Japan and its culture is a character in and of itself. It calls to you and holds you in its grasp.
All the characters are well developed, but the one that stands out to me and drew me in the most is Yuki. A powerhouse of a woman who knows what she wants and how to get it. She is an utter and complete turn on. Each character though is thoroughly complex and intriguing. Being this is book 1 in the series, they are all still shrouded in some mystery and I look forward to the next book in the series to see how it all unfolds.
Fair warning, this story is not for the faint of heart. But if you take a chance, I guarantee you, you will not be disappointed. The heat between Lana, Honda, and Yuki is palpable. Trust me, turn up the AC.
This is a story unlike one I’ve ever read before. When I started reading this story it was addicting and quickly became one I could not put down. The cultural aspect alone was brilliant and telling of Japanese traditions and demands. I was transported to a world of passion, obedience and acceptance of what may be misunderstood. Beautifully written and one that everyone should read. It’s certainly a story that will bring you more awareness and possibly teach you something.
I'm going to start out by saying, for this being Ms. Mina's first book, she knocked it out of the park! This was easily a 5 star read in the first few chapters alone. That's saying a lot!
The author's ability to describe the world in which our characters are a part of, Japan, allowed me, the reader, who had never been there before to fully see through their eyes and feel as though I'd lived there, or at least visited enough to think of myself familiar with the surroundings.
The characters were written in a manner that you believed yourself to either be them or know them. Be it friends or enemies.
Technical things aside, this book pulled me in so quickly! Lila Mina wrote an all consuming page turner. What scares me is that this is only book 1. So many things are still shrouded in mystery that is yet to be revealed. Leaving you hanging just enough that you want to get book 2 (Which I hear will be out before too long, thank goodness), but not enough to leave you frustrated.
The heat within these pages, between these characters, will have you reaching for your fan to cool yourself off. Once I started, it was very tough to give in to reality and remember I wasn't a part of the book but lived in this thing called reality LMAO!!!!
You'll end up with one of the best book hangovers ever! HIGHLY recommend this read and author to anyone!
I'm all for reading dark or different cross-genre books and this book is a great read! To label it as just another erotic/BDSM/fifty shades type book would be a gross injustice because it is a LOT more than that.
The story and intense passion between Lana and Honda is one thing, but when Yuki, Honda's wife, joins them then it takes it to another level.
The book is well-written and had amazing character and world building. A great writing style. I thought the take on unconventional love was great and the Japanese culture that was interwoven throughout I found extremely interesting. A fantastic read and I will definitely be reading more by this author.
Since this is the first book in the series by Lila Mina, the author provided insight into the characters to be developed more in depth in future installments. While that is important, I’ll also point out that I was not very happy with a cliffhanger ending.
The story focuses on Lana Martin, who is now living in Tokyo. She has a number of demons she’s trying to fight, so she turns to Honda, her martial arts instructor. Because the story takes place in Japan, it fully embraces Japanese culture and other influences. As Lana tries to use submission to exorcise her demons, she doesn’t realize that the mysterious Honda has secrets of his own.
Honda’s wife, Yuki, joins the couple as a third player, which serves to heighten the tension in the group. Lana is caught up in a whirlwind of submission at Honda’s hands. Every time she thought she had things figured out, Lana got it wrong.
The story has plenty of heat as it winds through the D/s dynamic. While I found some elements to be a bit outside of my comfort zone (knife and blood play), it as an interesting look at what happens behind closed doors.
Temper Deference is book 1 in the Temper trilogy. I’d say that it has set the plot very well with its trio characters - Lana, Honda, and Yuki. The setup of Japan is inviting. I was hardly aware of the culture but this book brings a holistic feel.
The story revolves around Lana, a martial arts practitioner, and her aikido master Honda. They soon develop a uniquely controlled intimate relationship, based on their own dominance/submission training rule, which brings out their suppressed shades of temper and their deepest, darkest emotions.
Later, Honda’s wife Yuki joins them to bring a softer intimacy to their polyamory. Reading through the initial chapters was slightly disturbing, but I give credit to the author for the way the extreme presentation of the animalistic instinct of passion is balanced.
The characters are powerful, especially the women characters, breaking free from the usual boundaries of physical connections. Check out this book when you want to read something different in erotica or paranormal romance.
“Temper: Deference” is a fascinating, steamy story set in Japan, which only adds more spice to an already compelling narrative. Honda was Lana’s martial arts instructor until he became something more - her Dom who promised to test her limits and help her heal from past trauma at the same time. Eventually, Yuki, Honda’s wife finds her way into their relationship and the trio grows even closer together. I found the setting itself positively fascinating. Vivid descriptions of Japan, certain cultural aspects, and even natural phenomenon were so masterfully interwoven into the narration that I felt instantly immersed into a beautiful world in which pleasure and pain are sometimes the sides of the same coin. The dynamics of the trio’s relationship was also wonderfully presented; overall, it was a great read and I’ll definitely be looking forward to the second book in the series.
