Regretfully the 1988 edition I have for several years and have consulted is considered of “low compatibility” with 2026 readings and other issues although its Spiritual Reflections are judged “timeless” and usefulness for catechumens good for reflection and in need of updated readings.
I am advised that if you want to use the 1988 edition in 2026:
• Use it for reflection, not for the actual readings.
• Pair it with a current lectionary source (United Church of Canada USCCB website, parish missal, or a 2013+ edition of the book).
• Lectionary for 2026 Year A
• Treat its commentary as supplemental, not authoritative for the liturgical year.
I stopped reading when I discovered this is meant for instructors preparing candidates for baptism.
