Factual book that gets lost between Nonfiction & Fiction (for the sake of telling a story). Dates & times bounce around. Jesse Brown was a true trailblazer in naval aviation. It wasn’t a very well told story. Squadron mates of Brown were heroic aviators who became good friends of Brown. Bestowing the Medal of Honor on Tom Hudner was the right choice by the Navy. They didn’t want glory, just to opportunity to protect the US and its citizens.

Had to read twice!

My father served in the war on a navy ship and one of his few stories was about naval aviator Jesse Brown. Got the book a few years back and read again yesterday. Same burning desire to excel must drive us and author does great setting the tone. Recommended for any underserved person facing obstacles. Strive and excel!!

Jesse Leroy Brown gets 5 stars. The author 3. The author put in a picture after page 144 with a caption that tells you how it ends. What a schmuck. He also goes over in great detail every step of the qualification process for every plane Brown flew. Once was interesting by the 3rd and 4th one it was skim time.
