Unfortunately, I will have to pass judgement onto Meg Cabot's newest work.

No Judgements is the story of Bree and Drew, two twenty-somethings that have elected to remain, among other residents, on a tiny island in the Florida Keys as a Category 5 hurricane bears down on them.
Bree moved to the island after the emotional shocks of death of her father and a sexual assault from her then boyfriend's best friend. She is incredibly unprepared to deal with any sort of inclement weather, and is lucky to h

Full disclosure, Meg Cabot is my favorite author, so maybe take this review will a grain of salt, but I really adored the first book in her newest series Little Bridge Island. I grew up reading her teen books, so it's almost like I've grown up with Meg and now that I'm older I am really growing to love her adult fiction. This books feels more on par with The Boys Series or Queen of Babble, so it definitely has that romcom fee

No Judgements is a contemporary romance that takes place during a hurricane and I was hoping to really enjoy it. Unfortunately, I found it to have lackluster characters, a too-agressive hero, and some real pacing issues. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't particularly good either.

Bree had an interesting backstory, but we didn't get much development of her character and I mostly just didn't care about what happened to her. Her love interest was too much of an alpha-male fo

No Judgments is about a girl named Bree who moves to an island near Florida from New York City to recuperate after a bad breakup and some surprising reveals about her family. Her mother is a celebrity judge and Bree enjoys her anonymity at her new home. However, there is a category 5 hurricane heading her way and she refuses all offers to evacuate, deciding to stick it out on the island. She ultimately, with the help of Drew, ends up checking up on the pets of people who had to evacuate, saying ...more

I thought that this book was pretty fun but not as romance heavy as I was hoping for. There were some minor problems that I had with the overall book itself such as the author typing "..." on almost every single page which got really old. Another aspect that annoyed me throughout this book was at the beginning of each chapter, there was information on how to survive during a hurricane and what to get from the store and all of that. I found it very distracting from the story and honestly, it didn ...more

This book was not great but also not terrible. Its about this girl who stubbornly decides to stay on the coast during a category 5 hurricane instead of evacuating like most others. She starts saving animals on the island and falls in love with a certain someone. This was a cozy romance, nothing to hard to think about and an easy read. I think many romance lovers would love reading this book, it just wasn't the best romance for me and didn't bring anything new to the table.

Bree was a strong willed character who was determined to ride out the storm and ignore the evacuation order. She did not want to accept help from others and wanted to prove that she can get through the storm on her own. When things go awry Bree reluctantly accepts help from Drew, who is an island local. After the storm passes Bree is dedicated to helping all the animals that were left behind. I loved seeing Bree and Drew work together to help all the animals. I loved how much Drew was an animal ...more

Bree Beckham is hiding. She left New York in a haze of grief and fear after her beloved father died AND her boyfriend's best friend assaulted her. She couldn't think of a better, safer place to lick her wounds than Little Bridge, the tiny island in the Florida Keys where her family used to spend summer vacations. But the truth is that she's hiding. She's dyed her hair pink and got a great job waitressing, but she's dodging her mom's calls and the man she's gotten to know best lately is her tooth ...more

I enjoyed Meg Cabot's series from the early 2000s like her Boy books and Heather Wells, so I was excited to when I heard about this new title. No Judgments is about Bree Beckham, who has moved to Little Bridge Island, Florida, to start a new life for herself. Just when she thought she was getting settled, a hurricane threatens her island paradise.

If I were Bree, I would have taken someone up on the countless offers of rescue Bree was given before the hurricane struck. Of course if she had done

I almost feel like Meg Cabot needs a pseudonym for this book! But I feel like this wouldn’t sell without her name attached to it, so that’s an odd line to balance. This was much more generic chick-lit than anything Cabot I’ve ever read, and that’s totally fine, but my expectations were quite different and I think I could have been disappointed if I had gone in really expecting something like one of Cabot's previous standalone adult books.

The amount of DOGS in this book is absolutely delightful!

All right, Meg Cabot - I love you and all so don’t take this too harshly, but this story really felt so...nothing? As in, I’m not sure what the point of this story was. A lot of the characters were annoying, and I felt like the main female was ~a strong female character~ for no other point than being able to say she’s a strong female character. So, not actually authentically strong Also, her mom drove me up the wall.

I mean, the premise is cute and there’s nothing overtly BAD but it was very sim

What is it about Meg Cabot that makes me love her books so much? I have never picked up one of her books and not loved it. I literally could not put this one down. I stayed up all night reading this book. I loved the main characters. I loved the island. I am so glad that there will be more from the island. This book really hit home for me, I Love that Bree was open and honest with Drew and did not try to hide anything. I received an ARC of this book to read through Edelweiss+ in exchange for a fair review. No Judgements by Meg Cabot is the second book in her new Little Bridge Island Series. When the life she planned fell apart Sabrina (Bree) Beckham headed to Little Bridge Island in the Florida Keys site of her childhood vacations and the one place that feels like home to her now. Bree is taking some time to rebuild her life and despite her attraction to builder Drew Hartwell she has no intention of falling un ...more

such a great concept and Meg Cabot always writes the best couples. They were seriously a match made in heaven. It had SO MUCH potential but like halfway through I realized the pacing felt way off. Then there were dark twists like a colleen hoover book or something :( It was SO CUTE tho and she has pink hair (!!!) and I love that it was based on Meg Cabot's actual experience during the hurricane. 3/4 the way through it was opening up whole other stories then it was over :/ this is the first "adul ...more

I was lucky enough to get an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. True to Meg Cabot fashion it was charming and a quick summer read, perfect for a day on the beach (or, in my case, a long car ride!) I did find the island hurricane activities to be interesting and enjoyed seeing how the locals pull together.

This is one of those books that I am so grateful to have read, I wish I could reach out and thank Meg Cabot for writing it. I won’t spoil anything, but there are some very serious subjects brought up, and they are written in a way that made me feel understood. This is a book I know I will turn to again and again in the future when I need comfort. I can’t recommend it enough.

Honestly I think most of the reason I liked this so much was bc I love Meg's humor and her writing. There isn't anything that makes this STAND OUT, but I had so much fun with it.

This was just a bad romance novel. The main character makes one stupid decision after another, the ending is telegraphed from the first chapter, and the sex scenes are mortifyingly cringy. Two stars for the adorable pets described, though.

Librarian note: AKA Jenny Carroll (1-800-Where-R-You series), AKA Patricia Cabot (historical romance novels).

Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people were aware of the stigma of being a fire horse -- at least until Meg became a teenager, when she flun
