Nisha
They called me Angel of Death, but I am something else. Someone else. That is, if you believe the Egyptian desert god, Seth, who haunted my dreams since I can think. Sounds crazy, huh?

I, too, thought I was insane.
Broken beyond repair.
But—

When Seth’s followers—the Black Flags—invaded our annual Halloween ball and slaughtered half the town, my nightmares became realit

description

Book of the Dead is the sequel to Book of Souls, and it definitely should be read in order. This book starts where we left off in the previous book, which is Nisha following her cousin Izzy to the Underworld to save her. To do this she has to beat the Trials, also known as The Journey Through the Underworld. While Nisha is busy with the Trials, Blaze and the rest of her friends are trying to find a way to enter the Underworld to save her and Izzy.

tl; dr: A girl turns out to be an ancient Egyptian god and finds herself on an adventure in the underworld.

This story is one of those books that reminds of the never-ending imagination of authors. I loved ancient Egypt as a kid, and I taught Egyptian art as an adult. Never in my mind did I think about setting a fast-paced adventure tale in that world. This story does a great job of dropping you into the Egyptian underworld, though with a healthy dose of snark

Book of the Dead by Nadine Nightingale
**4.50 STARS**

DO NOT read this review unless you read Book of Souls.

Can I tell you how relieved I was when Nadine Nightangale finished writing Book of the Dead?! Book #1, Book of Souls, ended on a “hell” of a cliffhanger!

Nisha Blake has had to accept that she is Egyptian Princess Nebt-Het reincarnated. Her beloved cousin Izzy has been kidnapped through a portal into the Underworld. Only Nisha can save her though she might lose her life in the attempt.

Book of the Dead by Nadine Nightingale
“Mind blown, 5 stars”

After reading Book of the Dead I am literally dead. My brain is mush. I have literally no words. I have no idea what the ending means, what will happen, nothing. I’ve been a fan of Nadine’s for quite some time now and every time I get a book of hers, I get super excited. Her writing is exquisite. She’s one of those authors I want to scream about from the roof tops but at the same time don’t want to tell anyone about because I’m selfish

I didn't realise this was the second book in a series when I started reading it, but I don't think it seems to matter as the backstory of the first one was dripped in throughout.

There were some things that just niggled at me as I read. One of those things is that Blaze's mum says 'innit'. It just seemed really strange to me that an adult with a grown child, who is on the doorstep in a cooking apron would say a word like that. It's the sort of word you'd associate with a teenage/young chav. The

Nadine aka Dini is a traveler at heart. She considers the world her home and practically lives out of her suitcases. When she’s not glaring at a blank page or abusing her poor keyboard, she spends her time reading, watching movies (preferably horror), pretends to work out, and hangs out with friends and family. Poor girl also suffers from a serious Marvel superhero addiction. So, if you run into h ...more
