Some, but not all, artic foxes take a long journey through the artic each winter. This nonfiction picture book for preschool and kindergarten describes the journey and challenges of one fox. She must hunt, endure blizzards and keep warm during the brutal arctic winter before returning to her pack in the spring. Fox lovers will enjoy this book with it chilling beautiful images. The reader will follow the adventures of an arctic fox as she encounters her first winter. Told in a story like manner, readers will learn basic facts about the arctic fox. After finishing the story, readers can go on a camouflage scavenger hunt by following the instructions that Wendy Pfeffer provides. This book is appropriate for emerging readers who are not ready for 300 page chapter books.
