I enjoyed this one for the most part. It was a relatively quick read that had me hooked right from the start. The writing was great. It was well paced. It was told in a dual POV format. The plot was engaging. The sex scenes were smokin' hot and leaned towards some BDSM action. Neither were virgins. There wasn't any OW drama. There was some OM drama in the form of her husband. There was only one secondary character of note, and that was Mateo. I can't wait to read his and Sofia's book.

You don't have to but I still I recommend you read the prologue Stolen Innocence before you start this book, because I think the background information will help you tremendously in understanding the dynamics between the main characters Valentina and Adrián. After reading the prologue I was looking forward to

STEALING BEAUTY by Julia Sykes was ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! I have been coveting Valentina's story for a long time and this exhilarating tale exceeded every expectation!

First, some backstory from the prequel, STOLEN INNOCENCE, which I highly recommend reading beforehand:

At the tender age of 14, Valentina Moreno was brutally ripped away from her home when she was sold to Colombian drug lord Vicente Rod

I was really looking forward to this book after the explosive start that we saw in the prequel, Stolen Innocence.
Unfortunately, for me this felt a little below par. Don't get me wrong, it is fast paced, angsty, dark and generally a really good read but i think i was just expecting so much more.

I was easily irritated by their reactions to each other a lot of the time and although i had already kind of guessed why he felt the way he did i also feel like the guy should have more intelligence than t

Stealing Beauty is a perfect choice for readers who are addicted to dark, raw and twisted romance. So naturally I loved every moment of it. Love is not always happy or sunny. Love can be violent and tragic. But it is love nonetheless. The story of Valentina and Adrián's story is not your regular fairytale. But if fairytale means your dreams come true if you really want, then Stealing Beauty is certainly a modern day fairy tale. The knight may not wear a shining armour or ride a white horse. The ...more

Stealing Beauty by Julia Sykes was a fast-paced and steamy story about two people who were made for each other finding their second chance. Sykes is a great storyteller, and in this book she immerses the reader in the dark and gritty world of drug cartels while giving them a great love story.

"The sadistic drug lord wasn't here to set me free; he'd taken me so he could lock me in a different cage, one where he held the key."

I enjoyed both Valentina and Adrian's characters and thought they were b

First I have to say that this book is effing amazing just simply amazing! I love a dark romance but I love it when it has other elements in it as well. Let me tell you Julia did her homework because drug lords are ruthless arseholes that will kill you and your family to get what they want. Can I say that Hugo was a total douche bag. He had some serious issues with him and he was a total arse to Valentina. Plus Adrian's father was a mother effer and a ruthless bastard that was willing to do anyth ...more

Stealing Beauty by Julia Sykes. This book picks up 10 years after Stealing Innocence which is the prequel to this book. Valentina has been living a life of hell being the wife of Hugo. She is dead inside and she doesn't know how much more she can take. At Vicente's wedding she comes face to face with Adrian. He didn't keep his promise and come back for her. Adrian has become cold and hard. In America he has made a name for himself. He has embraced the drug trade. Now face to face with Valentina, ...more

So, this is the follow up book to the prequel Stolen Innocence, so make sure to read that first as it sets the stage for Adrian and Valentina’s story.

We pick up with them 10 years after Adrian was sent away and he is determined to have her back even if she belongs to someone else. Now there are some twists in Valentina’s life that are hidden from Adrian although I love them together some of her reactions to Adrian didn’t feel right. I did enjoy their journey, but if they just would have talked s

So if you read the prequel, you will know that Valentine and Adrian have had a rough start in what little relationship they had. It is now ten years later, and Adrian is in town for his father's wedding to some poor girl.

Neither Adrian nor Valentine knows what happened to each other after they were separated ten years prior all they know is that Adrian and Valentine both were left and they really do hate each other, but Adrian will be damned if he will leave her again. So Valentine gets kidnap

Started off pretty good and then halfway through it just fell flat. I skimmed then;set 15% of the book since I lost interest.

This was an emotional ride from beginning to end that sucked me into Adrian & Valentina's heartbreaking story: hopelessness, anger, rage, hate, suffering & a faint spark of a 2nd chance for the possibility of love, however dark, to bloom.
I think the reader would be well served to read the prequel: 'Stolen Innocence' as it gives the reader a better foundation for the original youthful relationship between Adrian & Valentina, although it isn't specifically required.

I enjoyed this, especially after reading the prequel Stolen Innocence, which I recommend you read prior to this, its not essential, but it really does give a good background to the story and the characters, and helps to explain why Adrian and Valentina hate each other so much at the start of this book!

Its a dark and twisted tale, with some quite graphic violent scenes, captor / captive style in its telling. Its fast paced and really holds your attention. Valentina and Adrian hate each other with

Gah this is Julia's best book yet! I am head over heels in love with these brilliant characters. I am a sucker for a gritty, twisty fairytale - and Valentina & Adrian's love story is just that. Plus a hearty dose of suspense and action. Everything about this book is beautifully written. The secrets. The misunderstandings and years of hatred. The dirty dark side of the cartels. The stolen innocence of a young woman. Delicious build up and angst galore! All intricately woven and expertly timed ...more

This is one powerful look at the darker side of life where one’s choices are taken away and has to learn to cope with a new reality. Although it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the prequel, “Stolen Innocence,” as it gives more background information on Valentina and Adrian’s lives. This story picks up ten years after Valentina was first brought to her new home with Vicente, a drug lord, and his son Adrian. He is later sent away to California to keep him away from Valentina. If you haven’t read the prequel “Stolen Innocence” make sure you do. The first part of their story is young love, “Stealing Beauty” shows every emotion. Adrian finds himself out for his own brand of revenge and stealing back what was one his puts him on the run.

Valentina once loved Adrian with everything she had and even though it was young love it was true, until he left and didn’t come back. Her love for him turned to hate, and that hate only grew when she was taking from a life she never want

Tortured Love

This book was so torturous to read. It broke my heart and ignited my lust. Adrian & Valentina are star crossed lovers. Both held captive to their violent surroundings and yet they find each other to love and cling to. That is until the forces bonding them together rip them apart. Now years later they have grown up and what was once love has turned to hate. They both labor under the beneath the lie that the other has betrayed them. But all it takes is one rash act of animalistic

Drug lords battling over a woman can get very dark. In this case, Adrian has now returned to steal back Valentina. She is the beauty he fell in love with when she was fourteen and he was eighteen years old.

Only one big problem, she is now the wife of his father's enforcer - Hugo. There were no words to describe the level of depravity that man could unleash on his wife or anyone who crossed him. Now Adrian would have to protect and rescue Valentina to a safe territory where Hugo and his father co

Beautifully well-written on its element (very dark mafia romance), a believable complete story that is interesting, intriguing, enthralling and very emotional. The plot and storyline are fascinating.

This book truly messed up with my mind and emotions a few times, touching the very depths of my soul. The story is twisted and heartbreakingly brutal at times. Some of the darkess scenes are the core of this story.

Stealing Beauty is the latest from amazing author Julia Sykes. In Stolen Innocence we meet Adrian and Valentina. Stealiny Beauty is the next part of their journey.

It will have you on the edge of your seat from the first chapter to the last page. We follow Valentina's desperate attempts to find freedom despite Adrian's claim on her. His rescuing her too many times to count.

But their reunion...that's the icing on the cake! As a reader, you can feel every emotion that Valentina and Adrian feel.

This is a perfectly intense read and I did not want to put it down. Adrian and Valentina had such an emotional, unique bond in their teens. He was a protector with a very strong will. Fast forward ten years and that connection is still there. I felt so many emotions while I read their story, heart pounding at times, tears threatened to fall at other times. Julia Sykes has always kept dark stories tucked away in her mind, so she was thrilled when she discovered that other people actually want to read them. Her books blend romance, suspense, and BDSM.
