Sarah Blair and her mother Maybelle go to the bank president, Lance to ask him to reconsider Sarah's twin sister, Emily's loan application for her restaurant after it's been denied. When they step out of his office to give him some time to review the application, Maybelle returns only to find him dead. With her mother as the prime suspect, Sarah is determined to catch the real culprit. I enjoyed this second installment in the Sarah Blair mysteries. I liked the setting and the cast of characters. ...more

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!

Argh, just look at that cute cover! I just love cozies with animals on the cover, especially when they are a focus poin on the actual book too. Rahrah was a delight in the first book, and we get Fluffy added to the mix in this one. I had my suspicions on the murderer all the way through, but the unlocked back door to the bank had me questioning things, as well as a certain likeable character. I wondered if I was meant to l

I completely enjoyed this cozy mystery! Sarah, a receptionist at an attorney's office and caregiver for her late mother-in-law's Siamese cat, RahRah, keeps her busy. The city has approved not only the pet parade she proposed to raise funds for and increase adoptions at the local animal shelter, they also made YipYeow Day to celebrate pets, the shelter, and its needs. Sarah coordinates teams of volunteers for each area of the day, and she and RahRah will ride with the mayor and grand marshal of t ...more

I really loved this second book for this newer series, maybe even more than the first book. Readers got to know Sarah and Emily's mom, Maybelle, a lot better, especially since she was the prime suspect in the murder of the bank president she'd just argued with. There was a little more about George Rogers' life in this book too, and how he'd been taken in by a sweet little white fuzzy dog. Despite everyone's warnings, Sarah wouldn't back down for a minute when it came to defending her mom and sis ...more

I enjoyed every minute of this book with engaging characters and a well-written mystery that had me glued to the book from beginning to end because I had to know whodunit!! I really liked Sarah Blair and her dynamic with the other characters as she works to clear her mother, Maybelle, who is the prime suspect in the death of the bank president. This is a must-read for anyone who enjoys well-crafted mysteries with twists and turns to keep you totally immersed in all that's happening. I received a ...more

This is the second book in the Sarah Blair Mystery series, but it is the first one I read. It worked okay as a standalone story, but I do wish I had read the first one. There were some things I would have liked clarified. I did enjoy this story well enough, even though I did not read the first book.

Sarah's twin sister, Emily and her partner, Marcus have been turned down for a loan to reopen their pub and catering service after a fire in the strip mall where they were located. When Maybelle, thei

I love cozy mysteries. Sometimes I just need an escape....and reading for pure entertainment and enjoyment is the perfect escape for me. The cuter and fluffier the cozy, the happier I am....I just curl up in bed with my chihuahua and one or more of my resident cats and fall into the story. This series -- The Sarah Blair Mysteries -- fits what I enjoy in a cozy perfectly. Cute animals. A slightly kooky main character. Quirky side characters. A bit of a love interest. And a fun, interesting subplo ...more

"Two Bites Too Many" is the second book in the Sarah Blair series by Debra H. Goldstein. This book definitely lives up to the high standards set by Book 1 (One Taste Too Many). Goldstein has scored a home run with main character Sarah, who is a caring woman with common sense who approaches cooking (and life) with a philosophy of "the quicker and easier, the better". I was particularly happy to see Sarah's growth from the first book to his one...she is learning to stand on her own, and feel confi ...more

“Two Bites Too Many”, the second in the Sarah Blair mystery series, finds our sleuth Sarah in a great place. She is established in the carriage house with her beloved Siamese cat, RahRah, and enjoying her time working for Harlan Endicott as a secretary and receptionist at his law firm. When Sarah’s twin sister Emily’s loan to build her restaurant is denied, Sarah’s mother Maybelle coaxes Sarah into accompanying her to the bank to confront Lance Knowlton, the bank president, to find out why the l ...more

This cozy delves into the intricacies of small town financing, restaurant rivalries, sibling relationship tangles and town committee zoning battles and it builds suspense with a Southern accent and civility. The mystery opens with the town's chief banker found murdered in his office and the investigating temporary sheriff latches onto Sarah's mother, Maybelle, as the chief suspect. Maybelle is also my favorite character in the book since she is over the top and lives out loud!

‘Two Bites Too Many’ by author Debra Goldstein is the second in her Sarah Blair mystery series ('One Taste Too Many.') In this second novel, Sarah is once again called upon to extricate a family member from the accusation of murder, in this case, her mother Maybelle. Maybelle is a colorful and strong-minded woman who says what she thinks and doesn’t have a problem letting others see her ire. This, of course, gets her into trouble when not one, but two men are attacked shortly after Maybelle has ...more

Sarah Blair and her cat, RahRah, are settling in together and things are going their way. Unfortunately the murder of the local bank president quickly changes that. Her mother, Maybelle, becomes the prime suspect. Sarah is determined to protect her mother. She enlists her boss to represent Maybelle. Harlan is a good lawyer. Meanwhile Sarah will follow the clues. Can they find the truth? I was sorry that people were so quick to place blame. Especially since there was no solid proof. I was amazed ...more

Fans of One Taste Too Many will love the second book in the series, Two Bites Too Many. It would probably be best to read that book first because events in the first book are referred to frequently. You should be able to enjoy this one by itself, but why would you want to. Strong characters, intriguing plot, great supporting characters combine to make Debra H. Goldstein’s newest addition to the Sarah Brown mystery series a delightful read that will leave you waiting for the next one to release. ...more

Two Bites Too Many was an absolutely wonderful cozy mystery! Not gonna lie, I love when a book has a character with the same name as me, even when the spelling is different, but that's not the only reason to like the Sarah Blair Mystery series. Debra Goldstein creates such a great scene for the series in the town of Wheaton, it's got enough of the small town appeal that helps a reader feel at home and get to know the citizens, but also has the bigger city of Birmingham nearby so the town doesn't ...more

A delightfully engaging read that will keep cozy readers in their chairs and glued to the pages. This was the second book in the series, but the first one that I have read. I caught on to the story and the characters rather quickly, but it did take a small while for all of the history to be revealed. This is to be expected when starting a series in the middle. However, I didn't have to read the first book to be able to see that Sarah has come leaps and bounds in a small amount of time. She is a ...more

This was the quintessential cozy mystery-- small-town charm, quirky characters, lots of food, lots of pets, and everyone is a suspect- but of course our amateur sleuth, Sarah, is the one to crack the case.

I greatly enjoyed Sarah's interactions with the other characters, especially her spunky mother, Maybelle, and her kooky neighbor, Mr. Rogers. Some of the other characters weren't particularly memorable, but as the series progresses I hope to learn more about them and come to appreciate them mo

Two Bites Too Many was such a joy to read. Small town? Check. Main character has a cozy house? Check. Cute pet? Check

This is the second book to the series but I was able to follow along and understand what happened in the previous book.

I will admit it took me a bit to get into the book BUT I will say I received this book in the middle of a reading slump but I once the slump was over, I DEVOURED it.

There was a very smooth transition from book 1 to book 2, yet they still could be read as stand alones. I know the twin sisters are supposed to be the leads but that darn cat RahRah keeps stealing the show. Really, head marshal in a pet parade. The murder victim is Lance the bank manager.
