Mrs. Morris and the Ghost by Traci Wilton is the first book in the cozy A Salem B&B Mystery series. As with most cozy mystery series each book can be read by themselves or in any order as they contain and solve their own mystery stories inside.

After losing her husband Charlene Morris needed a fresh start in new surroundings so she decides to move from Chicago to New England. Charlene found a wonderful historic mansion in Salem and thought starting her own bed and breakfast in the touristy town w

This is a cozy mystery, and this is the first book in A Salem B&B mystery series. Charlene brought a historic mansion that she is going to turn into a B&B, but the older owner, Jack, that died is still there as a Ghost. I really loved the characters Jack and Charlene. I did not understand why the cat was so big of a deal. I really enjoyed this book, and I cannot wait to read book 2. ...more

I love ghost stories. Always have. When I first read the blurb for this book, I knew I would enjoy the story. And I did! For me, this book was a mix of nostalgia for favorite haunting tales like The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, and my love for cozy mysteries with a ghostly theme.

The basics: Charlene Morris relocates to Salem, MA after her husband's death. She just couldn't stand living in the house and city where she and her husband had been happy for so many years. So, she bought a large estate in Sal

Charlene Morris needs a change— something different after the death of her husband. Moving from her home in Chicago to a historic house in Salem, Massachusetts that she’s never seen sounds about as different as it gets. But then she didn’t expect to wake up on her first night in the gorgeous house to the ghost of the former owner, Jack Strathmore, standing at the foot of her bed. Now if she ever wants to get her house ghost-free in time to open it as a B&B for the tourist season, she’s going to ...more

Meh.

I was really excited about this book - my bestie loves Salem and so I was looking forward to a book that celebrates that city and all things witchy. Yeah, that is SO not what I got. What I got was a book that started off good - a grieving widow leaves all she knows to buy an old house in Salem to turn into a B&B sight unseen and finds a gorgeous, magnificent, house and...a ghost. Who is thrilled, that after 3 years, someone can see him, hear him and believe in him. He tells Charlene that h

This cozy mystery was recommended to my by a friend who knows that I adore all things related to Salem, MA. Well, make that almost all things. A main character who moves to a new town to open a bed and breakfast as a new start is fairly cookie cutter as a premise. The place being haunted isn’t much more original. Mrs. Morris and the Ghost is unique in that it includes the perspective of the ghost as well as that of the MC. Unfortunately, the ghost isn’t all that likable, and the romance

Great book! It was mostly down to the author’s style of writing, but the plot drew me in as well. Advertising executive Charlene Morris has lost her husband. With no kids, no spouse and nothing to keep her tied to Chicago, she embarks on a new adventure as a bed-and-breakfast owner in Salem, Mass. She can’t believe her luck when she becomes the owner of a very affordable yet very beautiful 8,000 square feet house. Soon, it becomes clear why the asking price of this elegant property was so low. I really enjoyed reading Mrs. Morris and the Ghost by Traci Wilton. I actually read it in one day! This is the first book in the Salem B&B Cozy mystery series. It's a paranormal mystery as well. In the last few years I haven't found any paranormal cozies that I could really get into but with this one I did. So I am super excited for the next one (there is a sneak peek at the end of this book).

In this one, rea

I took a break and was off cozy books as I found them to be too formulaic, but the cover of this book and the Ghost in the title drew me in. Spooky/ghostly cozy are my new favorite. And this book hit the right spot in me.

Charlene moved to Salem with its rich history to open a Bed and Breakfast. Wanting to make it a success, she worked hard to get it ready for a Halloween opening and soon banged into the its lone ghostly occupant, Jack. Oh, he was a yummy one. She soon learned that for him to mov

This is the start of what I think is a promising new paranormal cozy mystery. I enjoyed the setting and the characters along with the paranormal element. Charlene is a very likable character and I think the author did a good job with developing her as someone who is grieving but strong at the same time. I liked the secondary cast of characters that were introduced and think they will develop nicely over time. The mystery was well done and I almost guessed the identity of the killer. The author d ...more

A big thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book!

Gosh, this was a lot of fun! I'm used to the usual cozy formula, and when something really shakes that up it goes one of two ways, awful or brilliant. This was brilliant! For starters, we have a very active sleuth in Charlene. Why would she be investigating the death of the former owner of her new home though? Because he asked her to, of course! Having a ghost around made for a very different mystery, even if Jack ca

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir meets Murder She Wrote in this charming series debut! You'll love Charlene and Jack as they help each other heal from past hurts, track down a killer, and forge a friendship that transcends even death. History lovers will enjoy the Salem, MA setting, and anyone interested in antiques and old houses can live vicariously through Charlene as she gets her bed & breakfast up and running. This first book in a new series follows a real formula.

The female protagonist is either widowed or divorced. She sinks all her money into a B&B and then finds out it is haunted and the ghost wants her to solve their murder.
I easily guessed the whodunit by the not so subtle clues.

However, something about the characters was entertaining and I would read the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Starting a new business is challenging, but when you're opening a B&B, on Halloween, and the former owner is a ghost and is bound to your new B&B, things get interesting!

Charlene Morris, recently widowed, has moved to Boston to open a B&B and try to rebuild her life. Little does she know her first guest is Dr. Jack Strathmore - handsome, witty and dead. Charlene is convinced his death was no accident and decides to investigate to save her business and help Jack.

Mrs. Morris and the Ghost is an enjoyable new cozy mystery. Charlene Morris lost the love of her life eighteen months ago and every where she goes in Chicago there are reminders. She has purchased a massive mansion in Salem, based on pictures sent to her by the realtor, where she plans on opening a bed and breakfast. She wants it to be an elegant establishment. Having a resident ghost was not the plans even if he is handsome and charming. Dr. Jack Strathmore IV is convinced he was murdered three ...more

What she doesnt expect is to spend her life savings on a haunted house. Will she be able to stay there and create a successful business? Or will the ghost be too much?

Jesus lady fire your editor don't thank him, he did you no favors. This book was a mess, especially after the first few chapters, the latter half of the book needed a lot of work. Inconsistencies, typos, poor word choice, contradictions, no research done, plot holes big enough to drive a truck through, bad structure. The characters were not very likable and had no growth and half were very cliche.

Our bipolar (there is no way she isn't she behavior and manner is so erratic and changing on a dime)

I enjoyed this book. I do think that sections of it dragged out longer than they needed to. For a while the pacing of the investigating and the discovery of clues is really slow. It felt like nothing was happening. I liked the ending though, very unexpected. #MrsMorrisAndTheGhost #NetGalley

I need to begin this review to iterate the fact that not all Cozy Mysteries are a hit with me, I have finicky tastes when it comes to reading books like this, and the review should be read with that in mind. Also, I am in the minority when it comes to the opinion on the book, and almost everyone else who has given it a shot has loved it!

I liked the narrative style and the author's writing, this is usually not the case when I do not enjoy a book but I have to give credit to the author for writing

Mrs. Morris and the Ghost grabs you right from the first page and will leave you in shock when you find out who done it just before the end.

Charlene moved into a home full of surprises. One surprise is the resident hot ghost of course, and the second surprise, she finds a new cat, which Charlene is not a total cat lover so this becomes interesting as she tries to solve a murder to get the ghost out and deal with a cat she doesn’t want.

The only downside to the story for me was it seemed like ever

As a first in a new series, Mrs. Morris and the Ghost is an exciting addition to this genre.
Charlene Morris is looking for a new start. After the tragic loss of her soul mate, moving to Salem, MA is just what she needs. The home she purchased is better than expected, the town is full of wonderful people, and her bed and breakfast is already getting reservations.
What Charlene didn't expect was to be sharing her house with its former owner.

I loved everything about this book. The story was interest

Perfect start to a new series! This book has everything I love about a cozy mystery. I loved the main character, Charlene, and the house she buys in Salem MA to turn in to a B&B is amazing! I also adored the ghost who lives in the house, Jack. Jack wants Charlene to help him find out how he died, as in, who murdered him. Lots of suspects in the book, but I did figure out who it was before I got to the end. I hope this will be a long lasting series, I have already added book 2 to my list! ...more

If you're a fan of Cleo Coyle's Haunted Bookshop mysteries, or loved J.J. Cook's Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade series, I have a book for you! I'm a sucker for those paranormal cozies in which a female amateur sleuth falls for the ghost of a good-looking man. Traci Wilton launches just such a series with Mrs. Morris and the Ghost.

After Charlene Morris' beloved husband is killed by a hit-and-run driver in Chicago, she takes all her money and buys an 8,000 foot estate sight unseen in Salem, Massachuset

Well I was led astray. I was wrong, wrong and wrong on who did it. So, of course, I love this book! Actually, I really enjoyed much more than the mystery. Charlene Morris lost her husband and decides to make a big change in her life. She moves to Salem and opens a B&B, which turns out to be haunted. Personally I would see that as a cool thing, especially there. The Ghost was not a witch though and he needs help. This is the extra whip cream and sprinkles on the mystery. Charlene has a lot of per ...more
