After the events that transpired in Path Unchosen, the first book in the Daughter of Ravenswood series, I couldn’t wait to read the second book, Truth Unveiled. Once again, Kim Cleary delivers with loveable, complex characters and a plot that is both unpredictable and engrossing.

Meagan has finally found a place where she belongs as she settles in at Ravenswood Manor, her ancestral home. But a strange voice, belonging

Meagan Greystone is a compelling character brimming with a mix of flaws and endearments that make her journey irresistible. Kim Cleary is a fantastic writer with engaging dialogue and complex interactions with her characters. Cleary exploits the flaws of her characters mercilessly and leave the reader on edge as the story progresses. Because of the subject matter centering on death, afterlife and reanimation, the fate of any character is never truly sealed.

Cleary introduces the second book with

Meagan seems to invite trouble wherever she goes; at least that’s what Glynn thinks! Carrie turns up as a poltergeist which she manages to send back after Shelley’s inn is wrecked. Quintus is talking directly into her head and doing his utmost to replace her father who has gone back to being dead. Evie has not returned either, but her friend Rose from the orphanage has joined her in Ravenswood. Seems like so much is happening at once and Purah is certain that the protectors were coming to take h ...more

This is the first book in a while that’s really given me a buzz. I really liked it. That’s not to say that there aren’t a few challenges with the read, but ultimately I thought this was a great book – the finale is excellent.

I have read a lot of indie books recently, and the writing that gets put on the page can vary wildly – both in style and in rigour. It’s a very hard task to write great prose, so in my view, as long as the writing doesn’t distract from the content, it’s good. When I started

This is crossover fantasy/horror, and if you are a fan of zombies, undead, risen-dead, ghosts, poltergeists, and similar, mixed liberally with fantasy elements of magic and dragons, you will like this book. There’s a lot going on in it – a heckuva lot.

In fact, there’s so much going on that at first, and actually throughout the first half, I was confused as to what the main gist of the storyline was going to be. I thought it was going to be about searching for a woman who had mysteriously disappe

So good I read it twice!

Having read Kim Cleary's first book in the Daughter of Ravenswood series Path Unchosen a few years back, I was delighted to reconnect with old friends in Book 2: Truth Unveiled: Daughter of Ravenswood Book 2. It was so good, I revisited it again this week and was inspired to write a review.

Kim's writing has matured and I found myself immersed in a magical far-away place where it's possible to believe in magic, necromancers, zombies, magical creatures and the eternal strug

“Truth Unveiled” is the sequel and second story in the Ravenwood series by Kim Cleary. New necromancer Megan must learn the skills of her unique talent. Making this task all the more difficult is that she hears the voice of her great-grandfather whom she thought was there to guide and assist her, only to discover the opposite to be true. I have read both this book and the first in the series and I would say that this book scores slightly higher for me, rating a 4 hearts. I still found the story

I was so excited to read this addition of the series. Kim Cleary is one of my new favorite authors. Book one was my first experience with her writing and I am impressed. Our girl, Megan, is such a strong, fearless, honorable soul. She knows where she comes from and can't stop herself from helping others (even if she doesn't know what she's doing). She has Evie (over 100 yrs dead) and loves her as if she were still alive. She is not only battling poltergeists, but also a malevolent spirit. I love ...more

I began reading this series out of sequence and I have to tell you each book in the series stands alone just fine on its own. Meagan Greystone has a way of finding trouble...or it finds her, and she always takes it head-on. It is not always pretty but in the end, she learns and grows because of it.

In Truth Unveiled, Meagan learns more about her family legacy and just how intensely power can corrupt. The level of responsibility that Meagan is left to shoulder would be incomprehensible if she did

The dead don't stay dead long

Terrific. Ghosts, raising the dead, druidic powers, magic, zombies, aliens, dragon's and witchcraft are all melded into one to take you on a crazy journey. Having won one battle she is now pitted against another when her long dead grandfather tries to possess her for her talents. Can she stay true to herself and her beliefs. Pain and death seem to stalk her every move as she pits herself and all that she holds dear against one ruthless ghost that is determined to ris

This book was full of so many twists and turns, ups and downs, it was like riding a rollercoaster! Good to see Meagan's character and confidence slowly developing, though I wish certain events in the book hadn't happened (once you read it, you'll guess what I mean!) as I'm sure it'll impact her for a long time, and I loved that character. Anyway, a great book, and I'm looking forward to seeing where the author takes Meagan and co next.

This is even more of a rollercoaster than the first book, so many ups and downs, twists and turns and so much happening it is very hard to put down. Meagan is interesting and she definitely develops in depth and character as she has to cope with the many challenges she is faced with. The supporting cast are also acquiring more depth as they become individuals with their own stories, rather than just props in her story. I plan on reading the next book immediately.. so glad I don't have to wait, b ...more

While the first book wandered a little - the 2nd lept in and was off to the races. The pace started fast and never slowed down. The story was rich and twisted and terrifyingly wonderful. Such a rich world and such compelling characters - flaws and all. I am hoping for many more stories of this world and of Meagan and her friends. An intriguing, new-world paranormal fantasy! This book pulled me into the story and it was almost impossible to put it down. It was beautifully written and I loved the characters. It was so descriptive that I could see and feel the world of the storyline as I was reading. I received a complimentary copy but my opinions are honest and voluntary. I can't wait to read the next book!!

Truth Unveiled is the second book of the series and it was better than the first. You are able to get a sense for the character personalities and are drawn almost immediately into the action of the story. This is a fast paced easy read that hooked me from the beginning. I’d highly recommend this book and look forward to reading the next book in this series!!

Truth Unveiled (Daughter of Ravenswood Book 2)...this series though! I read the books out of sequence, reading book 3 first, and really these books can be read as standalones. The series takes you on a roller coaster, twists and turns everywhere! I can't recommend it enough!

An amazing fantasy book. Meagan is one strong character. She is a neocramancer. Intriguing story.

It is difficult for me to rate this book. It is flowing with infectious energy, lavish descriptions, and paranormal magic surprising us everywhere.

It is quite Shakespearean in its body count, piling up as the dark forces of paranormal magic confronts the main character, Meagan, and the diabolical, duplicitous schemes of those with nefarious agendas, such that it's hard to know who's an ally, who's an enemy, who's dead but still connected and ready for revival in body and spirit, and who's really

Ms. Cleary is a talented writer and the world created by her is detailed and well thought out. I quite enjoyed all the different creatures that appear during the course of the novel, especially Lyken the imp and Aymon the dragon. Others, like Purah, I had trouble imagining because they were introduced in the first book and describing them again would have taken away from the flow of the story.

As for the story, it is a classic tale of good versus evil. However, in the beginning I wasn’t sure exac

The Truth Unveiled does not waste any time getting started and we immediately join the main character in action whilst dealing with a moral dilemma almost which is a good start.

The voice of the story is consistent and the character well defined though I did find her a little naïve for my tastes considering the horrors that she survived in the first book. This book is not written for me, but I believe there are many out there who it will appeal to who like witches, zombies, dragons and magic etc.
