Leon's Way

Rate this book

Stunning club owner Leon keeps his world on a tight leash. He subdues his past by means of deviant sex, his martial arts, and his motorcycle. But when destiny throws him curveballs at the hands of a beautiful employee and a dying tormentor, he loses his precious control.

******

I’m Leon, number one object of Deepsilver’s rumor mill. Owner of student hotspot, Smother.

Since I was sixteen, the world has been mine. I do everything—
My way.

Every co-ed in town clenches her thighs over me, but most don’t fit the bill. See, I like my girls broken. Once I detect my shade of don’t-give-a-shit damaged, I fight hard, I fight dirty, and I don’t give up until—
I conquer.

Drunk fathers and frequent beatings don’t merit attention, but when my despicable dad starts the process of croaking, I’m forced to remember. Thus, the downward spiral begins: my latest broken-girl turns the tables on me and splits. My hot-as-hell employee, Arriane, throws me the curve ball of a lifetime. And suddenly—
I’m out of control.

But at the center of my chaos, she exists. Always close, always sweet, and so beautifully fu*king… wholesome. She represents everything I’ve shied from in a woman. Still—
I crave her.

I’m Leon, and I don’t deny my cravings. Just—this girl is not surrendering. So here I am, fighting harder. Fighting dirtier. And goddammit all, I will—
Conquer.

Writing this book, I pushed out of my comfort zone.
And I have no regrets.

Every word, every scene, is there for a reason—for the characters and the readers to experience them. To drive them toward that ending. You'll know what I mean.

This is an edgy New Adult novel—with soul and purpose.

About it:
Stunning club owner Leon keeps his world on a tight leash. He subdues his past by means of twisted sex, his martial arts, and his motorcycle. But when destiny throws him curveballs at the hands of a beautiful employee and a dying tormentor, he loses his precious control.

Mind. Blown.
Yep, that's what this book will do to you, so consider yourself warned. Front to back, this book will pull you in, wrestle with you, and leave you breathless. Sunniva Dee just keeps getting better! This is her fourth book, and DANG! I can't wait for her fifth! Surprises, passion, in-depth characters, and a story that is guaranteed to leave you wanting more, Dee takes the Pandora, Wild Child characters and gives you a mouth-dropping new novel that you didn't see coming. I loved this book, because within the pages, buried deep inside the characters, is not only a fantastic story, but a revelation of humanity. Dee got it right again, and as long as she is writing these powerful books, I'll keep reading them.

Thiiiiiiis boooook. So many feels! Hot, dangerous Leon + sweet, responsible Arriane + one sexy night = the beginning of an incredible romance. As usual, Sunniva Dee has done it again!

What happens when a one night stand with a sexy, dangerous man goes wrong? Arriane, employee at Smother nightclub, hooks up her boss, Leon in a moment of weakness. What the two of them never planned on was that this night would be the beginning an amazing journey.

Throughout the novel I had no idea what was coming next, and in a genre that often recycles the same stories over and over again, it made this one so very captivating.

In addition, I’m so used to reading about broken women that this story was a pleasant role reversal when the broken one happened to be Leon, a powerful man who keeps his demons on a tight leash. And the side characters … Ingela omg, please oh please tell me she gets her own book! Everything that came out of her mouth had me laughing!

What I absolutely LOVED about the book was that despite the darkness that surrounded Leon, the story itself was incredibly uplifting. Every time I dove into the book I felt like I was stepping into a warm hug when I really needed it. The characters’ hearts are in the right places, even if their actions go awry.

Leon’s Way is a phenomenal read, and I’d recommend it to all lovers of romance and happy endings!

Leon is so hot, I mean this book is so great ;) Full review once released!

A great book keeps me glued to my seat until the end, and Leon's Way did just that! The characters made laugh, yell, and cry. A roller coaster of emotions filled with highs and lows, but so worth every minute it took to reach the finish line. Leon captured my interest from the beginning, and OMG was he hot! LEON: A sexy, smart, fun-loving, wild and broken mess of a man. Arriane: A hard working, responsible, smart, independent woman secretly in love with her boss. Leon and Arrianne's life changes on New Year's Eve... One night full of fire makes for a heck of a story! Trust me, Leon's Way isn't for the faint of heart, this book is for people who love angst! Well done, Sunniva Dee!

I liked Leon in Pandora Wild Child. I just didn't like him with Pandora. I was really excited to read Leon's story and it rocked! It took me literally one chapter to fall in love with Leon. His story is dark, edgy, and gripping. It was sad, funny, and crazy at times. I couldn't put it down and to be honest I couldn't get enough. This series is awesome. I love it!!

Stunning club owner Leon keeps his world on a tight leash. He subdues his past by means of deviant sex, his martial arts, and his motorcycle. But when destiny throws him curveballs at the hands of a beautiful employee and a dying tormentor, he loses his precious control.

**********
Self-described as the number one object of Deepsilver’s rumor mill, Leon is the bad-boy owner of the student hotspot, Smother. Leon likes his girls broken, but when life throws him a curve ball, his ‘singular’ tastes extend to include the woman who’s been watching him from afar.
Arriane wants Leon, even when she knows she shouldn’t. As one of his trusted employees, she has witnessed Leon’s parade of broken girls, which makes her wary of getting involved with him because Leon is a walking heartbreak.
The two of them represent everything the other has never wanted, but very much need.

**********
We’re doing a joint review on this story because two of us read it and enjoyed it very much.

1. How did you like the introduction?

Cranky One: I was drawn into the book immediately with how determined she was not to let him leave the bedroom!

Cranky Two: The intro was smoking hot! I’d just finished Pandora Wildchild and was waiting to see the aftermath from Leon’s perspective. It was quite… an aftermath!

2. Is it a standalone?

Cranky One: I never read Pandora Wildchild. I thought Leon’s book was great as a standalone. I didn’t know of Wildchild until after!

Cranky Two: Yes, the book can absolutely be read as a standalone. Leon was the bad-boy villain type in Pandora Wildchild, but you really get to know him better in this story. Arrianne brought out the best in him.

Cranky One: Yes! I loved how she kept her independence and never gave up on him.

3. What did you think about the shadow of family in this story?

Cranky One: It really opened your eyes.

Cranky Two: Yes. It shows how parents can really influence the way we view relationships and love without us really thinking about it. I got frustrated with them. Did you? I just wanted them to have an honest conversation.

Cranky One: I did. I got frustrated with Arriane more so and the thoughts her mother had put in her head.

Cranky Two: I did too. Leon, you could understand. He’d been brutalized, but she’d been brainwashed!

4. The secondary characters

Cranky One: I loved the secondary characters!

Cranky Two: They were fantastic. They really made the book. #Ingela Rules

Cranky One: I also loved that Leon was part Asian.

Cranky Two: Yes. It’s always great to see diverse characters!

5. Bad Boys!

Cranky Two: What is it about bad boys? Why do we find them so compelling?

Cranky One: They have a dangerous allure and when they fall for someone… it’s always harder and sweeter to watch.

6. Overall:
Cranky One: 4.5 cranky stars from me. It’s a big book, but it didn’t drag and the flow was great.

Cranky Two: Yes. I agree. The pace was just right and kept you intrigued.

The Crankies: Soooooo, if you love bad boys, angst, and a book you can’t put down – pick this up! It’s a must read.

Leons Way teaser 1

First off, before I begin my review I would like to thank Sunniva Dee for reaching out and allowing me the chance to read and review her upcoming release. Thank you so very much!!

That said, I don't know know if it's just me, but, I just did not click with this read. I swear, I tried and tried but nada.

I'm not saying it's a bad read or anything. It's just that from the beginning, I felt that I was in the dark about some happenings that may have occurred from a previous book. I then read some of the other reviewers' reviews on goodreads (after I had finished Leon's Way ) and sure enough there was a novel called Pandora Wild Child also written by Sunniva Day that apparently had some background beginnings of these characters.

You can definitely read this book as a standalone, but I think for myself and maybe some others, it may be helpful to read PWC for the full experience. I had not, and throughout the story, it kind of plagued my mind that perhaps I was missing something, although I can't confirm it, since I'm the type of reader who likes to know the 411 on every character and so forth.

Not to mention, I just did not connect with the characters or the story. They honestly did not add up to me and I just could not get my head around their motives, changes, and situations.

On the bright side though, I did like though that there was a sprinkle of Japanese patronage in Leon's characterization, as I myself, am half Japanese (since my mother is a Japanese American) and not many books have mixed characters like that. It was a nice change up.

So over all?: An okay read that perhaps I would have really enjoyed if I didn't feel so off kilter from the start.

I think many of you will really enjoy it, but as for me, it was okay.

Thank you Sunniva!!

Having read Pandora Wild Child and meeting Leon, I was intrigued by his bad boy personality and would have liked to have learnt more about him. I was so pleased when I learnt that Leon's Way was being released.

Leon is the owner of two clubs and his business skills and the way he treats his employees are second to none. When it comes to his personal life it's a different story completely. He had a tough childhood upbringing and the psychological effects haunts him. He copes with his issues by having rough sex, taking off on his motorbike and practising intensive martial arts.

Arianne works in one of his clubs as a bartender as well as being one of his most trusted employees. She has been admiring him from afar for the three years she has been working for him but he only sees her as his trusted employee. When he loses complete control on New Year's Eve, she tries to pacify him and that's when he really "sees" her. Despite the fact that Arianne had a good childhood compared to Leon, she too has her demons to face and is afraid of committing to a relationship. Then something unexpected happens and this might cause even more complications.

From then on, emotions run high with love and heartache amongst the turmoil. When Leon's dad comes back on the scene, Leon becomes very unpredictable but his sister Kat is very supportive and the love between them is something to behold. Amongst all the turmoils, Mrs Dee brings in humour. Ingela, Arianne's flatmate who works in the bar too had me in stitches with her "unique" personalty.

I found this novel to be very emotional, laughing one minute, crying the next and impatient about what was going to happen next which made it hard to put this book down.

There is a powerful message about the effects of psychological scars and the power of love. I also admire the loyalty and support from friends and family. I will definitely read this book again and would recommend to 18+ Book Lovers.

I was privileged enough to receive this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Mrs Dee.

Leon has a specific taste.

He demands respect and likes things a certain way—his way. He prefers his girls damaged, because damaged is exactly what Leon is inside. For each girl he helps find herself, made stronger by his vehement attention, Leon closes off more and more of his heart. And once his girls are no longer on the same “broken” level as he is, they are no longer of use to him.

Until her.

It isn’t often Leon is unable to bend others to his compelling charm, so when it finally happens on New Year’s Eve, he explodes. Luckily, right-hand-woman—wholesome and sweet, Arriane—is there to step in and calm Leon down in the only way she knows how. After one night of passion—Leon’s way—Arriane’s entire life changes.

In love with her twisted and tortured boss, and unsure of her future, Arriane has a difficult decision to make. But once Leon learns the truth behind the secret she’s been hiding, the controlling man is determined to make her his at any cost. Even if it means compromise, forgiveness, and facing the demons of his past. Because sometimes, not everything can be Leon’s Way.

In this companion book to Pandora Wild Child, Sunniva Dee takes us into Leon's dark and dangerous past, brightened only by his potential future with the only girl he cannot break, Arriane. Leon's history threatens everything and everyone around him, and one decision could cost him everything. Sunniva really pushed the envelope on this book and it really pays off. I was on the edge of my seat during this entire novel. I can't wait to see what she writes next!!

I received an ARC for my honest review.
Oh where to start!!! I had wanted to know what the past of Leon had been like after reading Pandora. I knew there was something dark there that caused him to be the way the was.
Sunniva definitely did not disappoint with Leon's Way. I was hooked from the first page!!!
Arriane was perfect for Leon. She was so strong willed and definitely a strong female character. While she did have her flaws, she was able to be the woman he needed to help him in his dark times.
I have to say I was so happy that Leon finally got his closure and his HEA ending. I didn't want the book to end!!!!
I can't wait for Sunniva to release another book!!!

I know 19% doesn't seem like a lot but I really did try. I just couldn't bring myself to like Leon, at all. He sought out broken girls and broke them harder and I just couldn't. Obviously he had some horrid back story that I hadn't read about yet but I just didn't think he could redeem himself.

Destiny is a funny thing.
It’s tempting to focus on the scalding chemistry between the title character and his loyal employee Arriane. To discuss how his hot, protective, devil-may-care attitude frustrates and attracts her responsible, calm presence. But that would be doing a disservice to the depth behind that swoon-worthy stare. There’s history there. Hidden secrets and suppressed pain that take this book from sizzling romance to a powerful story so many (too many) can relate to. Leon’s way of handling his demons isn’t always the best way, but his journey is one that will stay with you.

:::REVIEW IS ALSO ON FOUR CHICKS FLIPPING PAGES:::
http://fourchicksflippingpages.weebly...

OMG!!! Leon, where do I even begin??? Hot. Mysterious. Dominant. Alpha Male. Most of the things we women look for. This book was a page turner, I could not put it down for the life of me. It had me swooning the entire time. You will need a few pairs of extra panties, due to panty-wetting, Leon.

Leon is the owner of student hotspot,Smother. Who is afraid of commitments. He's very dominant with his women, loves the rough sex. He has a not so memorable childhood. Physically abused by his drunk father. All he wants to do is to protect his sister from their asshole sperm donor. He left home and has been on his own since he was sixteen. He's a strong person and does not give up easily and will fight for his life. He finally commits to a girl and ends up being brokenhearted.

 photo LeonsWay-1_zps468a0bac.jpg

Arriane is a college student, who works to pay for college and a roof over her head. She's very independent and does not take crap from anyone. She's had her eyes on her boss at Smother since the day she applied for the job. She's been loyal and very dedicated employee ever since. She'll take anything Leon throws her way just to be able to spend some time with him. The unrequited love is a torture to her, specially when she sees Leon screw women like there's no tomorrow. One after the other, it was non-stop and it nearly killed her. Until one night...

 photo LeonsWay-2_zps62e6d0fa.jpg

Leon was vulnerable at the time and Arriane was there to take advantage of him. He needed to forget how it felt to get your heart shredded into pieces. To numb the pain that he can't seem to fight. Arianne was there to take away the pain for him. She cared so much for him that she's willing to make him forget. It only took one night of sex and they could not have enough of each other. They received surprise that will change both their lives forever.

While Leon deals with his asshole of a father dying, he struggles to fight his demons. His life might be chaotic, but at least he has Arriane to make him feel how love truly feels. And while fighting his demons, he can't seem to control it like he used to. Pushes away the only person who is keeping him on his toes. Who is by his side no matter how much distance he puts between him and Arriane. How long will Arriane keep it together and fight for the relationship they are trying to have? Will Leon rise above the demons to keep Arriane?

This was a very hot and steamy romance. Loved the story line, the
sex-capades Arriane and Leon had. The sneaking around making the story even more hotter. I read this in one sitting and love it. I can't wait to read more from Sunniva's writing.

Oh my Leon!! You poor damaged beautiful soul. I wanted to slay his demons but sadly it's a battle you have to do alone.

Leon is the owner of a 2 thriving nightclubs. He rules with a gentle yet iron fist. His employess are like his family and are always taken care of. Girls....well those are another matter. Leon is into the broken and when they leave they are in a million shattered pieces they can't put back. After his freak out with Pandora he's trying to get back on track to only have his life tossed up again. He doesn't think his always faithful employee Ari would be by his side to help him.

Arriane has loved Leon from afar and probably the only one who can talk him off his tangents. She dedicates most of her time to Smother instead of her studies. With a family that's scattered all over and a mother who taught her that love would just ruin you in the end she's making it day to day. One impulsive move resulted in a serious life change. Can she take Leon seriously and put her heart out for him?

I swear Leon was brutal but not like his dad. His method of control was kinky and pushed the boundaries. It hurt to watch him at times just slip into his own darkness and not see what was in front of him. I mean Ari did have major issues. I did like this book at some points I hated his sister despite her intentions. I think I love all of Sunniva Dees words they touch the heart.

Before I start on my thoughts, let’s just take a moment to look at the cover. Those eyes….sigh. I could just drown in those eyes. Such agony and deep suffering within the depths of those pretty blues. Makes a person just want to reach inside and give that sexy man a hug. You get the feeling that you are about to embark on an emotional roller coaster ride of emotions - and you would be correct. So, let’s give a big round of applause for the Cover Designer!

Okay, now for the nitty, gritty. I have loved every single book that Sunniva Dee has written, so when she asked me if I would like to read and review Leon’s Way, it was a total no-brainer for me to say yes. I am so glad I did, because this story was great! I was warned that this was a dark read, but it's about Leon, so it was expected somewhat. I became very intrigued with Leon’s character while reading Pandora Wild Child, and have wanted to know more about him ever since. Leon is a total control freak, from his business to his women. And Lord does he have his demons.
“Leon is not boyfriend material. Leon is heartbreak waiting to happen, in one stunning package.”

Any smart woman would stay clear of Leon, but one woman, Arriane, does dare to love this man, and has for several years, watching the love of her life with his ‘broken’ girlfriends – never saying a word. It’s during the New Year’s Eve party that Arriane is there to calm Leon down after Pandora left with Dominc. Because he is God’s gift to women after all (or so he thinks!), Leon just can’t comprehend how this could have happened. How could Pandora leave HIM?
“....missing Pandora, missing the bitches I fucked before her, every one of them so deserving of me, of what I had to offer.”

That one night though, and one little miscalculation, Leon’s life is changed forever and he is no longer in control. The reader gets to see a new side of Leon - a gentler side, a more caring side – but he still fights the inner demon that is his father, a.k.a the Sperm Donor. He also learns that in a healthy relationship, sometimes it's better to compromise.

This story is more than just your typical romance. This is a story of one man fighting his demons and trying to be a better man. It’s also a story of one woman going with her heart when her brain says to run away. It’s a gut-wrenching emotional story that is dark and at times disturbing. It is a story that captivated me completely, left me feeling emotionally drained at some points and had me laughing my butt off throughout. And that people is the sign of a great novel – one that provokes so many feels throughout. I would highly recommend Leon’s Way to anyone but I will leave off with one warning: have tissues ready for Chapter 35, because you will need them.

4.5 STARS!!
This book ended up to be a lot better than what I had imagined when I started it.
I wasn´t sure when I first started reading where it would take me.
Very often when I start reading a book I get this giddy feeling in the first few pages and I just know that I am going to really like it. I didn´t get that feeling in the first few pages of this book, but very soon it built up very nicely and just kept getting better and better.
This book has a very good story and goes into some hard issues and I liked that. I also really liked that those issues weren´t solved like "everything just forgiven and forgotten", cause life isn´t really like that for the most parts.
It also has some very hot and sweet lovin´, which I of course also liked :)
I loved the way the relationship between Arriane and Leon developed throughout the book and how they worked through their issues and insecurity. Nothing overly dramatic or angsty, not at all. Just real life issues, handled like grown ups handle things ;)
Overall just a really nice read and I really really liked it.

I just finished Leon's way, and I am pleasantly surprised - I absolutely loved it! My favorite book by Sunniva Dee has been Shattering Halos, but now I just adore this one! (And boy, are they different!)

Arria's exciting journey is fascinating to read, and most of Leon's mannerisms are so sweet, I love that he is such a complex character. Funny thing, as soon as I finished the last page I felt myself immediately considering "Should I start it again from the beginning right away?" And I kinda laughed at myself, because when the hell have I ever wanted to read a book twice in a row like that?! I wanted to relive the experience and see the protagonists' behavior with new eyes :)

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I loved Leon's attitude towards Arria's, hmm, state. So sweet. But boy, are those two crazy. I highly recommend this book. For me it was a quick read, because it never bored me. And Ingela sure was entertaining X)

Sexy, sexy Leon... I am in love. Brooding, rides a motorcycle and the owner of a bar called Smother. He's lived his life without a care in the world. Does what he wants when he wants to. Then things start changing and he's not sure how to handle it. His cute bartender, Arrianne is different than most girls. Leon finds himself falling in love, whether he likes it or not.

Mmmm, such a sexy book this is! I could read again right now and love it just the same. Leon couldn't be a sexier, naughtier Alpha male. Arrianne was absolutely adorable. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a steamy, yet sweet read.

I've read a few Sunniva Dee books and they all bring something different. This is the second book in a series, but standalone which is good, because I didn't realise until the end that I was starting on book 2!

Leon is dark and dangerous, he seeks out broken women to share his dark sexual appetites until Areinne takes him by surprise. After a one night stand they are thrown together by circumstance. Leon is a romantic and protective boyfriend but Arienne is aware of the darkness eating him up inside and she doesn't just have herself to think of.

I love the bonds in this story. Leon and his sister, all the staff at Smother, this workplace is like a family. Ingela is hilariously unfiltered and her and Cam make me laugh out loud.

This has exactly what you want in a book, all the romance with a side of angst and drama to keep you interested.

Arianne is conditioned to treat potential heartbreak as the ultimate evil. So she loves Leon—a heartbreak on gorgeous legs—from afar.

Leon is so broken, he goes only for broken girls, shatters them and moves on. But with his own personal demon on a deathbed, even his broken girls can’t smother his angst. On the night he reaches an all-time low, channeling his tormentor in a too-obvious way, Arianne takes the place of a broken girl in an effort to stop his descent. His angst is indeed smothered but so is all reason, and they end up connected in a way neither of them anticipates.

Now, Leon faces the challenge of his life. Will he smother his demon through his usual wipe-out kickboxing sessions, blasting death metal, or will he end up doing the unthinkable that his sister demands of him? Offer forgiveness? And, above all, will Arianne wait for him to clean up his act, or will her own fears drive her away forever?

Confession time: after the first couple of chapters, I was about to give the book up. All evidence pointed to another doormat heroine who learns the rough way (pun intended) that pleasure is better laced with pain, and once this is ingrained into her, they all live happily ever after. I’m so over that trope. But the writing of this one was so fresh, I decided to carry on even if I ended up gaining only as a writer and not as a reader.

Boy, were those tables turned on me! This book is different. It starts with a situation other romances end with, and you get to sit shotgun through the entire ride; no awkwardness is spared here. The ups, the downs, medical emergencies, false alarms are all there. And Arianne is no wimp. In fact, she rightfully takes the No. 2 spot in my Heroines’ Top Comebacks (at heros’ requests for kink).

No. 1 Aryal in Kinkedby Thea Harrison
Quentin: “I want to see you tied up.”
Aryal: “Dream on, mother**ker.”

No. 2 Arianne in Leon’s Way by Sunniva Dee
[Leon's] hands are deceivingly warm when they circle my throat.
Arianne: “I. Hate. This.”

(Mental note: Check out books with heroines whose name start with Ar-)

Kristen, give me a FINALLY! moment!

Kristen YES

This is a road-to-acceptance story like no other. Yes, almost all of the broken heroes in dark romances have a gruesome childhood, but usually that comes up just in order for the reader to understand and sympathize with the hero. Usually, the heroine plays the part of the healer one way or another. In Leon’s case, the wound is so deep, he needs to face his demon in the literal sense. And he runs away kicking and screaming (again, literally) each and every time. The process and progress are painfully slow, and in the end Leon is not the only one that takes life lessons. Awesome, mind-altering life lessons we all have to benefit from.

The writing is, again, unique. The story is told from three points of views. Arianne’s, Leon’s and Katsu’s (Leon’s sister) who plays a pivotal, although sometimes overbearing, role in her brother’s healing process. The secondary characters are well fleshed out and offer much needed levity.

Leon's Way is one sexy book. And I don’t mean the sex scenes per se (which, in the beginning, bordered on disturbing), but the fact that Arianne inspires such passion in a state where most woman feel completely undesirable was so so sweet.

All in all, that was a story that gave me lots. Anger, empathy, compassion, love, sweetness, sexiness and utter sadness at parts. It was amazing to see Leon come full circle, having been there throughout all stages. The Epilogue was also awesome. Just right.

I do recommend Leon’s Way, and I’ll definitely pick up Pandora, the previous book by the same author--not without some tredpidation over the sexual intensity. Sunniva Dee does push the envelope in that respect. We'll see...

Leon's Way 5 fabulous stars!

I was not expecting to love this book, after reading Pandora Wild Child (and loving it) I got a glimpse of Leon and I was sure I wasn't going to like him. Well let me tell you I was wrong, so so wrong that I even think I loved this book a little bit more than PWC. I even noted something about 20% in on my Kindle that said "I just fell in love with Leon." Now I'm not the type that has to love characters to love a book because in reality everyone has flaws. And I know this is fiction but you need a little dose of reality thrown in, not everyone is perfect. So Leon is deeply scarred from a very traumatic past and he can't seem to let it go. He was abused by his father repeatedly and witnesses his sister being abused. He holds on to it and the only way he knows how to keep control is to control others. But does this really help him? Or is it making him worse, digging a deeper hole by trying to control everything? He works out in his (punching room) obsessively and uses broken women. If you've read PWC than you know how Leon totally lost control. What I loved is this book picks up from there. Arriane (h) is loyal bartender/party planner tries to calm him down (on that night ) but he can only be calmed in one way and he uses her as his outlet.

Arriane is sweet, loyal and was raised with a wonderful caring mother. Her parents are divorced and her mom made sure that Arriane knew she needed to rely on herself only and not to depend on anyone especially a man. "Love only causes heartbreak." Arriane has been in love (secretly) with Leon for three years now, she has suffered watching him bring many broken woman around and she has heard about his kinks. She knows she isn't compatible with him because of this but there is so much more to the man than he shows everyone, she has seen small glimpses of his other side. After the one night of being Leon's outlet everything changes.

First off I loved the mixing of cultures I wrote that in another review because I find it refreshing to read about interracial couples. Second Arriane was awesome! I loved her, I wanted to hug her and comfort her and even strangle her at times. Ingela and Cam put a lot of light into this deeply emotional book, what great secondary characters! Leon and Kat my heart goes out to them and what a strong female character Kat was. She was so beautiful and forgiving (I would love to get a book about her). Leon was so completely broken he didn't know what to do with himself he wanted to save Arriane from his tendencies but couldn't stay away. To me right there that showed me he wasn't the evil person he thought he was. I really could go on and on about the characters and how well developed they were but you really just need to read the book to understand.

There is a quote about 75% into the book where Leon and Kat are visiting his father and it was then that I think the light bulb went off for Leon. His father made a statement about not be able to control their mother. It gave me the chills. And the last page before the epilogue made me cry. If you like it steamy you've got that too, as early on as chapter two I was fanning myself. ;)

This is such an involved and emotional book I really don't think my review can do it justice.

Sunniva Dee does write with soul, her characters are deep and complex and you can't help but hate to love them or love to hate them.

I highly recommend this book!

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 Painfully Beautiful Leon Stars ☆☆☆☆☆

A beautiful and heartbreaking story about a broken man Leon and Arriane, a girl who always wants to fix him.

Leon grew up getting regular beatings from his drunken dad and ended up with a broken family when his mom could no longer take it. After being old enough to take care of himself, he did everything his way and he took care of his sister and got the hell away from his dad. But being away from dad didn’t fix the emptiness that he was left with. Leon may have grown up having control of his life, but he grew up broken and always looking for a broken girl to fix. While Leon goes through his emotions and number of girlfriends, Arriane watch from the sidelines holding on to her heart.

Arriane had always been in love with Leon, she’d watch and got to know him from the sideline. While Leon goes on with his life, Arriane has always been close by to watch and try to fix him when needed.

After their sexy night together, Leon couldn’t get enough. Leon was hooked and couldn’t understand why he was feeling the way he was. While he had his life in control at first, he lost all of that once Arriane took over his heart… beyond his control. He knew Arriane deserved so much more than him, she was wholesome, innocent and so much more than a woman he thinks he will ever deserve. But he couldn’t stay away, he craved her and never wanted anyone more in his life than she. While he fights to be with her, Arriane fights back not to be. Not because she doesn’t love him, it’s because loving him hurts too much.

Will Leon ever figure out how to get a hold of himself and not let his past ruin what he and Arriane could have?
Read and find out.

Leon’s Way is very emotional, but beautiful. The love that they both had for each other is very sweet and real. But before they could have a beautiful life together, they both have to fight their own demons. Love this story, it is a must read.

*R2R for New Adult Book Club (GR)*

Strong 3-stars for this read that turned out to be not at all what I expected :)

There's a whole lotta story here and it doesn't mess about. Curveball's right, I was yanked from my expectations right from the get-go.

Initially, I was pee'd-off at the turn it took, pretty sure I wouldn't like where it was headed. But, actually, the handling and the character reactions got me back on board pretty swiftly.

Then there was an incident around the midway point where I again got caught up in 'Oh-noes! Don't go that way, please'. Thankfully it didn't. And again I was pleasantly surprised by the direction that it did go.

There are some tough issues worked into this and **speaking from a never-exprerienced-such-things viewpoint (brain drew a blank on the correct word)** they're worked in well. The history and subsequent-demons Leon and Arrianne battle with made a whole lotta sense in terms of their behaviours, reactions, decisions and development. And the obstacles they faced as a couple didn't ever feel especially contrived or overly-dramatized.

Leon...okay, now, Leon was a douche. Seriously. But, whereas in the beginning he was a douche that kinda wound me up, by the end he was a much more sympathetic douche I'd developed quite a soft spot for. No, not to the point of me book-boyfriending him (though he does sound hot), but I felt for him and what he'd gone through, and I did love how he was with Arrianne through her...thingy(most of the time). *no spoilers*. And Arrianne: She was a likeable enough character, sure, with her own hang ups and shit going on. But... although she generally had her head screwed on straight, there were a few points where she had me tsking and 'Argh!-You-Doormat'ing.

Niggly bits:
Couple of scenes that made me slightly uncomfortable.
And the 'My love' and 'My always-love' from Arianne irked me.
The increasingly weird eye-colour descriptions too.

All-in-all, though...

Yeah-
Well-written, steamy (and a little kinky) with a strong plot to boot: Leon's Way was an enjoyably satisfying read.

*I highly recommend reading "Pandora Wild Child" before reading this novel. Lots of background info that is not explained in this book*

Leon isn't a man that can be explained by using a nice adjective. He is all things sexy, dangerous, successful and incredibly toxic. He has a special type of woman he prefers, the ones that are too broken...too needy. So when Leon finds himself with a woman, one that is strong and independant, he can't handle the feelings that are stirred up. Can he fight the attraction... the pull...the need? Can Leon handle a real woman?

Arriane has been hopelessly in love with her boss, Leon for years, but can it really be love when it's one sided and has completely gone unnoticed? After one night of eye opening, mind blowing and regrettable sex, Arriane has found herself in an awkward position with Leon. She has finally seen first hand just what he needs to be satisfied, but she's not ok with that AT ALL and frankly it scares her. Arriane isn't the kind of woman who needs a man....so when Leon pushes to hard, can she just walk away? Or is she willing to battle for their future?

This is the third book of Sunniva Dee's that I have had the pleasure of reading and they keep getting better! After the last book "Pandora Wild Child", the first book in this series (if she is considering it a series), left me heartbroken but loathing Leon. Any character that can leave you in that state as a reader is definitely a well written character. Leon's growth in this book was so incredible real. People don't just wake up changed or battle the demons of the past overnight. Sunniva captured the truth in the hardships of life and wove a beautiful story doing it. I recommend again that "Pandora Wild Child" should be read first...... and read it soon so you can get to this HOT book!

(I did giggle a little at the GF/BF titles... but hey I'm 29, so I am out of the loop with slang nowadays)

The one thing I have to talk about first is the way this story was written. I haven't read anything by this author before so I have no comparison for the previous books. The writing is AMAZING!!! You'd think reading about a broken male finding that one girl to be the key to it all is over and done with. Been there, read that- RIGHT.....so so sooooooo WRONG. Sure Leon's broken and he used his 'dolls' as a coping mechanism but what makes Leon's Way a 5 star for me is the gut wrenching writing that makes me feel EVERYTHING. It wasn't overboard, or not enough. It wasn't to mushy with a million 'I love you's'. It wasn't boring, HEAVENS it so wasn't boring. The freaking prologue is heartbreaking but come Chapter one you are in love. In love with the writing (can't say it enough), in love with the characters (instantly) and in love with the plot that is unfolding.

Howls from devils shake the walls as I lose my wits to the demons that were my father's. I own them, now finally inherit them all the way.

And f me if she doesn't f'ing enter. I'm in here, and I've lost my mind to the dread of being my father, and she-she- the one I protect, stands there round and scared under the arch of the door, defenseless in my storm.

^^^^That is my favorite piece of this story. It says and shows so much. It proves just as much, as well.

I loved the multi POV's, I loved the names, the heritage. I loved the conversations with and with out words. I loved the bagroom. I loved that actions truly spoke louder than words.
