Sarah Blair and her mother Maybelle go to the bank president, Lance to ask him to reconsider Sarah's twin sister, Emily's loan application for her restaurant after it's been denied. When they step out of his office to give him some time to review the application, Maybelle returns only to find him dead. With her mother as the prime suspect, Sarah is determined to catch the real culprit. I enjoyed this second installment in the Sarah Blair mysteries. I liked the setting and the cast of characters. ...more

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!

Argh, just look at that cute cover! I just love cozies with animals on the cover, especially when they are a focus poin on the actual book too. Rahrah was a delight in the first book, and we get Fluffy added to the mix in this one. I had my suspicions on the murderer all the way through, but the unlocked back door to the bank had me questioning things, as well as a certain likeable character. I wondered if I was meant to l

I really loved this second book for this newer series, maybe even more than the first book. Readers got to know Sarah and Emily's mom, Maybelle, a lot better, especially since she was the prime suspect in the murder of the bank president she'd just argued with. There was a little more about George Rogers' life in this book too, and how he'd been taken in by a sweet little white fuzzy dog. Despite everyone's warnings, Sarah wouldn't back down for a minute when it came to defending her mom and sis ...more

This is the second book in the Sarah Blair Mystery series, but it is the first one I read. It worked okay as a standalone story, but I do wish I had read the first one. There were some things I would have liked clarified. I did enjoy this story well enough, even though I did not read the first book.

Sarah's twin sister, Emily and her partner, Marcus have been turned down for a loan to reopen their pub and catering service after a fire in the strip mall where they were located. When Maybelle, thei

Fans of One Taste Too Many will love the second book in the series, Two Bites Too Many. It would probably be best to read that book first because events in the first book are referred to frequently. You should be able to enjoy this one by itself, but why would you want to. Strong characters, intriguing plot, great supporting characters combine to make Debra H. Goldstein’s newest addition to the Sarah Brown mystery series a delightful read that will leave you waiting for the next one to release. ...more

This was the quintessential cozy mystery-- small-town charm, quirky characters, lots of food, lots of pets, and everyone is a suspect- but of course our amateur sleuth, Sarah, is the one to crack the case.

I greatly enjoyed Sarah's interactions with the other characters, especially her spunky mother, Maybelle, and her kooky neighbor, Mr. Rogers. Some of the other characters weren't particularly memorable, but as the series progresses I hope to learn more about them and come to appreciate them mo

There was a very smooth transition from book 1 to book 2, yet they still could be read as stand alones. I know the twin sisters are supposed to be the leads but that darn cat RahRah keeps stealing the show. Really, head marshal in a pet parade. The murder victim is Lance the bank manager. When Sarah and her mother go to the bank to find out why Emily and her partner's loan has been denied other problems come to light about peoples loans. Emily is trying to reopen her restaurant damaged by fire a ...more

Sarah Blair is juggling her job, her guardianship of a financially well-off cat and getting a new festival for shelter cats and dogs started. She’s also trying to help her sister turn the cat’s former house into a fine dining restaurant. When the bank denies financing, Sarah’s mother takes the issue to the bank president, who turns up dead just a few hours later.
This could have been a confusing book, as there are multiple characters, sites and subplots. The author does a nice job of keeping the

I very much enjoyed this second book in the Sarah Blair mystery series. I feel like Debra Goldstein does a great job making the characters relatable. I think many people would say they can see someone they know in the characters personalities. I will say reading this book kept me hungry - I can't wait to try the recipes at the end of the book! It also left me longing for a cat, despite the fact that my dogs would not be too happy with me if I brought home someone like Rah-Rah! I look forward to ...more

I liked this book better than the first one.
There's a lot of character development, the plot flows without any problems and the mystery kept me guessing.
It's an entertaining and engrossing read.
Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed the first book in the Sarah Blair Mystery series, One Taste Too Many, by Debra H. Goldstein because I did not figure out the killer early, and that is very rare for me when it comes to cozy mysteries. So when I saw Goldstein had book two in the series, Two Bites Too Many, coming out I knew I would be giving it a read.

Goldstein picks up right where the end of One Taste Too Many leaves off, but if you hadn’t read that one, you won’t be lost since Goldstein does a great job with b

I love the mystery, intrigue, character depth, and interaction in this book. Rah Rah the cat, and Fluffy the dog are awesome. This book kept me guessing all the way until the end. The plot twists had me glued to the pages, while sitting on the edge of my seat. The loyalty that Sarah and Emily have for each other, and for their mother Maybelle is heartwarming. This is a must read book and series, and I highly recommend it!

A cozy mystery with a family you can't help but love. A mother's love knows no bounds, so when one of her twin daughters is denied a loan, the most entertaining character in this series, Maybelle, heads to the bank to "fix" things. Unfortunately...or fortunately for us...the bank manager is dead and it looks as if Maybelle's "fix" might have gone too far. The cast of characters in this series are really entertaining. Debra H Goldstein has written them as if she knows them personally. The back st ...more

This is the second book in this series and I enjoyed it.
The characters are fun and I like the sisters, as their personalities work well together.
Preparing to open new restaurants has them all in edge, and when a loan is not approved, it up to their mom to sets things right.
Unfortunately, mom ends up in hot water and relies on the girls to solve her problems.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for approving me to read this book.

First book I've read by this author. This is also the second book in the series, so I was a little lost. This author has a lot going on, with numerous characters, which might have contributed to me being lost. Overall, I enjoyed the book and will try to find her first book, or try the next book in the series.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Two Bites Too Many was an absolutely wonderful cozy mystery! Not gonna lie, I love when a book has a character with the same name as me, even when the spelling is different, but that's not the only reason to like the Sarah Blair Mystery series. Debra Goldstein creates such a great scene for the series in the town of Wheaton, it's got enough of the small town appeal that helps a reader feel at home and get to know the citizens, but also has the bigger city of Birmingham nearby so the town doesn't ...more

A delightfully engaging read that will keep cozy readers in their chairs and glued to the pages. This was the second book in the series, but the first one that I have read. I caught on to the story and the characters rather quickly, but it did take a small while for all of the history to be revealed. This is to be expected when starting a series in the middle. However, I didn't have to read the first book to be able to see that Sarah has come leaps and bounds in a small amount of time. She is a ...more

The Second Sarah Blair Mystery

Maybelle is on the warpath and grabs Sarah Blair to set the bank president straight. While Sarah wonders why her mother doesn't take her twin sister Emily, since it was Emily's loan that was denied, she knows its easier to go along. But Maybelle isn't the only one angry at Lance as they discover another man whose loan was denied threatening him. But when Lance is found dead, the acting Chief of Police only has Maybelle in his

This cozy delves into the intricacies of small town financing, restaurant rivalries, sibling relationship tangles and town committee zoning battles and it builds suspense with a Southern accent and civility. The mystery opens with the town's chief banker found murdered in his office and the investigating temporary sheriff latches onto Sarah's mother, Maybelle, as the chief suspect. Maybelle is also my favorite character in the book since she is over the top and lives out loud!
