My mother's New Year's resolution for me was simple: make a serious effort at putting myself out there and dating again, and do it for one full year.

Or until I fell in love. Whichever came first.

How hard could one year of swipes and matches and awkward first dates be?

In a word: bad.

In nine words: bad and also hilarious, demoralizing, exhausting, and ridiculously amusin

Loved Gigi, but her story was impaired because it was in 1st person; additionally, it had an excessive on-page presence of support characters which meant less time spent nurturing the relationship(s) between Gigi and Ben/Rob.

To be candid, their love-triangle seemed like it could have been lifted from "The Bachelorette".

Oh well.
This book started off so well. But then it fizzled......

Sadly for me, I was not aware this book had been cobbled together from a serial. The author makes a statement at the end explaining that. Now of course, I can totally see it. Hindsight......

I like Ms Canterbary's books. The Walsh series. Before Girl. All good. I started this new one eagerly, and was really enjoying it at first. It was looking like 4 stars. OK, it was a bit silly that a woman in her 30s let her mother make and manage a datin

While it isn't marked anywhere, this is a follow-on from a very large series of romance stories where Magnolia apparently played the role of bad-girl and interfered with at least some of their relationships. So you not only have a slew of happy couples popping up like tribbles in a starship, but most of them are nearly as angry at Magnolia as she is with herself. Indeed, the instigating incident that starts this story rolling, her mother coming up with a "resolution" to force on Magnolia, is onl ...more

4.5 stars!

I love this book! A funny, smart and sweet story with a lot of depth as we follow a fabulous heroine through the perils of dating as she searches for love. It’s funny and witty, with fantastic banter and a whole lot of heart, and I absolutely loved it!

Magnolia (aka Gigi), was introduced as a side character in the Walsh series, and I was so excited for her story! This book can be read as a standalone, however there is a lot of crossover with the Walsh characters and storylines, so thoug

In a sentence: Magnolia is magnificent.

In several sentences: The Magnolia Chronicles is another outstanding, witty and overwhelmingly enjoyable book from Kate Canterbary. She is one of my favorite authors because of her ability to sketch flawed-but-likable characters, to show their growth and all the nuanced ways they change and and falter and fumble and fall in love. In The Magnolia Chronicles that is on brilliant display as we follow Gigi—who does

I don’t give 5 stars often, especially with easy, fun romantic reads, but this one is a standout story chiefly due to smart, witty writing. Both Magnolia’s inner thoughts and all of the dialogue were clever and witty, in addition to being realistic and genuine. Great read by Kate Canterbary, as always.

I’ve been an enormous fan of Kate Canterbary’s since she blessed this romance reader with her first novel. Kate writes what I like to call smart-girl smut. Beyond being simply well-written, her novels are thoughtful, thought-provoking, intelligently humorous stories within a steamy romance. They’re always exceptional, original, with layers of emotion and interesting side characters who elevate the whole of the story to a truly special reading experience. If you’re not already reading

"Goddamn, stop making me like you Magnolia...." I hear ya pal, I hear ya...

Kate Canterbary has made magic again with The Magnolia Chronicles.  This story can be read as a stand alone, but don't do that to yourself.  This story is tangentially related to the Walsh Series. Magnolia is a character that was introduced in Necessary Restorations. She was a character that generated some strong feelings, some very volatile emotions.  But here is where Kate's magic and fantastic talent for writing comes

Ahhh....Magnolia. GiGi. Roof Garden Girl. I’ve always had a soft soft for Magnolia and I always hoped that one day she would get her chance at love. I followed Kate’s posts on Book+Main so I knew most of the story but it was nice to read it all in one place and all at one time. Magnolia’s story was her story and it was perfect. Especially when she knocked Sam to the ground...I’ll let you read about it but he deserved it. 🙂 It’s always nice to see the good girl get a good man. Magnolia’s man is p ...more

This was so good for me and there are two unfair reasons why I am not giving this five stars. 1) I read Ash's book first so I knew who the hero was and as a result I always wanted more time with that couple, but despite that I really, really liked how well developed ALL the relationships were in this book even though I definitely would have known who the hero was even if I had not inadvertently spoiled myself. 2) I just read something else that was most definitely a five star read for me and thi ...more

Decisions, decisions... Adulting can be a daunting task but sometimes it’s a necessary evil and at times really funny, soul searching and so much more.

Kate Cantebary is an architect author. She lays the foundation and just keeps building on it. The foundation is always rock solid. It’s my intention to write a cohesive review but this story has me so jazzed I may not be able to accomplish this task. So I’m just going for it.

Beautiful, funny, touching and so many descriptive words I’ve yet to asse

This author just hit a Grand Slam in the bottom of the ninth

I have loved everything that this author has written. EVERYTHING. This author has a way of creating characters that are real. They have the same issues that I might have. From outward appearances, they seem confident or have everything in order when in fact they are anything but confident or perfect. Magnolia could have been me in every way. Magnolia Chronicles is such a great read. You finally got to understand her, see her side of the story. And the troubled relationships she’s gone through. This story is about Magnolia finally figuring out what she wants, how she wants her life to be. No second guessing about her decisions and coming to terms about her past mistakes.

I loved Magnolia and to see her grow and bloom into such an amazing woman. She is full of love, for her friends (those Walshes I miss them) her dog, her family. She w

I love this author, She is an automatic one click for me even without reading the blurb! We have met Magnolia in the author’s Walsh series, (though this is a standalone) and I have been on tender hooks waiting for the author to tell her story, what a story it is!

We get to follow GiGi as she goes through the trials and tribulations of online dating, the good, bad and everything in between. We also get to catch up with our favourite family, the Walsh’s, they help to enhance the story and also bri

Kate is in my top ten authors of one clicking, the intelligence in her writing is superb. Flawless storyline’s, that have a reader engaged. And that’s what I want, need and crave.

She moves the characters effortlessly and at times with hilarity. You can expect laughter her dialogue and banter within the pages is perfection.

I love the maturity of it. The characters are relatable, the conversation with between all resonates with a reader.

Magnolia Chronicles is funny and quirky and sexy and swoony and heart wrenching and thoughtful. It is everything!

The story is a complete standalone but I loved the tiny glimpses of my favorite Walsh family members. Magnolia was introduced in a previous book but I loved getting to know her and see inside her thoughts.

I loved the characters. Wasn't a fan of Magnolia in the Walsh series but I was willing to give her a fair shot. I ended up liking her. She admits her faults but doesn't dwell on them. The Walshes are such a welcoming, friendly group, and I love that they still embraced her as part of the family. Sam makes a lovely cameo at one point, as well. Closure,'s so satisfying.

This book is EVERYTHING! Seriously, stop reading reviews, and go grab a copy because you want to start reading it right now. Still with me? Okay, let’s talk about the amazingness that is The Magnolia Chronicles.

I’m a huge Kate Canterbary fan. I’ve been waiting for Gigi to get her story for what feels like a lifetime. However, when Kate started releasing this on Book+Main, I avoided it, because I knew the wait between installments would kill me. After reading it, I fully stand by that decision. O

The Magnolia Chronicles: Adventures in Modern Dating by Kate Canterbary

I’ve been a fan of Magnolia Santillian since Necessary Restoration. Yet she caught a lot of flack because of #SamGate, if you don’t know what I’m talking about, or if this is your first Kate Canterbary book, don’t worry, the author explains, but when you have a moment, you should read Necessary Restoration and Restored and then the rest of the Walsh clan. Finally, Magnolia got her book!

5 Internet Dating at it’s Funniest Stars!!!

If I didn’t know better, I’d swear Ms. Canterbary has been stalking my dating forays in this electronic age!! While the conversation with my Mom was never quite like Gigi’s, there was some definite Mom advice given out. More importantly, her messages and dates with these fools through this process had me snort laughing and rolling my eyes at the same time…because that’s me too!!!

I did not read Gigi’s adventurous as Ms. Canterbary was doing her posts

This was every thing I needed and wanted in a book this weekend!!! I know that Kate had featured the Magnolia Chronicles on Book + Main, but I totally am behind the times and didn't read it there. I haven't read Kate in quite some time, and man did I miss her writing!!

From the beginning I was 100% engulfed in this book! I loved seeing Magnolia go through the online dating scene, it was HYSTERICAL! All of the funny messages, the dead-end dates and the chats were so damn funny, AND SO DAMN REAL! D

I remember all the drama that surrounded Magnolia during the "Sam-gate" of 2016. So many thoughts, feelings, and opinions on Magnolia. I reserved the right to like her-or not like her- once I got to know her better. Magnolia is one of US! She is human. She makes mistakes. She wants to be wanted by a man who loves her. A man who puts her first. And that is effing relateable.

The Magnolia Chronicles by Kate Canterbary is simply perfection!! It can be read as a standalone book but also as a addition to the Walsh family series books. I enjoyed Magnolia so much! Magnolia is a character that was introduced in Necessary Restorations. I was excited to read that she was getting her own book. In her story, we get to see who she is: her ups and downs. I wish I could give this book more stars. I loved it.

Oh sweet Magnolia, Rooftop Garden Girl, GiGi, how I couldn't wait to meet you. I loved how real she was about her faults and that she knew how to deal with her meddling mother when she wants Magnolia to try out online dating. The dating match conversations cracked me up lol.

A warning potential readers, even though this is a stand alone, in my opinion you won't really get the full grasp of this story unless you've read the Walsh brothers and sisters books. They're a part of this story. And you'll be all WTF is going on? Who are these people? Ok, you could skip Erin/Nicks story (not my fav and they're on the frustrati

Kate Canterbary doesn't have it all figured out, but this is what she knows for sure: spicy-ass salsa and tequila solve most problems, living on the ocean--Pacific or Atlantic--is the closest place to perfection, and writing smart, smutty stories is a better than any amount of chocolate.
