Book Review: The Light at Dawn
Author: KL Montgomery
There should be a rating higher than five. This book is amazing and heartwrenching. Ms. Montgomery had me in tears in the first chapter and kept them coming throughout the entire book.
The debate on gun laws is a heated topic and I believe in my mind that she broached and wrote about the subject to where no one side was favored over the other. Everyone has an opinion and it is no ones place to judge how anyone else feels about certai

First things first.

A checklist to prepare yourself for reading this book!
-Tissues, and plenty of them. Trust me you are going to need them.
-A ready supply of Wine (or your preferred alcoholic drink), or something comforting like hot cocoa.
-A comfortable, quiet place to sit, and maybe a soft blanket and a cushion or two- because you are going to be there for a while as you won’t want to put this book down once you start.
-A friend on standby to call as you may need someone to talk to about

You're going to cry. Multiple times. Just know that going into this book, and go in with a large box of tissues...and maybe some wine.

Wow. This was one of those books that left you thinking long after you read it. First off, it's about tragedy, and a horrible one at that. The story seeks the answer to how does a parent continue living after losing their child in such a horrible tragedy? How does the tragedy affect the rest of the family and the parents' marriage?

The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery a five-star read that will light you from the inside. I have read a lot of stories by this author and this is by far one of my favourites, its just so deep and compelling that it will stay with you for such a long time. The one thing I love about this author is the way that she makes you think about the bigger picture as you read, makes you care for the characters in a way that just don’t normally. Even though I may not be a parent I have felt the loss of a c ...more

Angelia has 3 kids and a husband that loves her and life is great but one day everything changes when her youngest is involved in a school shooting, grab your tissues bc you will go through the emotional toil Angelia went through and when time passes she meets a man named mark at a gun rally. He’s basically the enemy & these two experience the same when his worst nightmare comes true. Will mark & Angelia help heal each other?

I imagine it was hard to write about gun violence in America, especially in schools. It's such a hard and sensitive topic and I commend Montgomery for taking it on in a way that was respectful of both sides while still trying to portray just how much of a problem it is in our schools.

Angelia is a mother of three, who has never really sided one way or the other with the issues of guns until she loses her youngest son Evan in a tragic incident at school. Angelia took the hurt and pain and became

First and foremost, this is a seriously emotional book. If you're looking for a good cry, this book is for you. Yes, there is romance. Yes, there's a little humor here and there. Yes, because of the storyline there is a political element, but truly that is necessary to the story. And yes, there's even a bit of drama, excitement, and suspense thrown in. But by far, this is an emotion-packed, gut-punch, heartwrenching tale of love after loss. At the same time, it is an absolutely wonderfully sweet ...more

I would like to say that there is enough warning out there to prepare you for the emotional rollercoaster ride that this book will take you on, but quite frankly that just isn’t the case with The Light as Dawn. K.L. Montgomery is normally a one-click author for me so it was a no-brainer to pre-order this beauty the moment I set my eyes on it and heard she had a sad book for us to devour. I had expected a rom-com with a bit more of the heavy sad here and there, more along the lines of what we wou ...more

The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is amazing. It is one heartbreaking, soul crushing and heart stoppingly story. DO NOT and I repeat, do not read this book at work because you will do nothing but howl all the way through. Yes, I got strange looks. I have read a lot of K.L. books but this is the first I have read in this genre from her and it is a wonderful and tragic story where the main characters lives become intertwined after each has suffered from the most horrible thing a parent should g ...more

The Light at Dawn was a heart wrenching and emotional 5+ star read.

I was pulled right in from the beginning. Angelia and her family go through a tragedy that no family ever wants to experience (Ugly cry moments started instantly). We watch her world come crumbling down around her. We jump ahead five years Angelia is now a single mom who is traveling around and speaking on gun violence.

Mark see’s Angelia at a bar and quickly gets pulled in by her. They end up having drinks and they discover they

The Light at Dawn By KL Montgomery Is a book that will truly rip your heart out, tear it to shreds, stomp on it, and then slowly put it back together. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was not prepared for all of the emotions that it would make me feel. I found myself crying, laughing, and wondering about the world around me. This book is about so much more than one story it is about grief, heartache, overcoming all of the obstacles that life may throw at you, and at t ...more

Absolutely Amazing

I chose this book well because I love to read and a very good friend of mine insisted I read it! After her blubbering about it I knew I had to read it. The topic of this book wasn't something I personally have experienced, yet I do have kids in school and I have gotten the call their schools have been on lock down and I can remember the total shock to my system. The description of days, among other things in this book made it so easy to picture it all! I felt like I was with An
The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery was a raw emotional read that will get you in all the feels. This book requires tissues and ice cream.

Not my first read by this author, so I knew going in that the writing would be top shelf. This book blew me out of the water and it got me so hard in the feels that my eyes wouldn't stop leeking.

I absolutely sincerely loved this book, school shootings always get me. As a Canadian I have the luxury that the anomaly of a school shooting is it something that h

A heart-breaking opening to what turned into a powerful novel. I was in tears in the first 5 minutes. It reminded me of a Nicholas Sparks novel, the language was so descriptive and emotive. I loved the characters of Angelia and Mark were so well thought-out, the reader could not help but identify and empathise with them.
Angelia is living a happy family life in upstate New York with husband Dean and three children Jarren, Riley and Evan. After a run-of-the-mill morning, something so unbelievable

The story The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is an amazing book that is powerful and emotional. It is a story that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It is a book that I thought about long after I had finished it. The story is written in such a way that you feel the deep/strong emotions that the main characters go through. The Light at Dawn is a beautifully written, emotional, raw read that certainly evoked a lot of feelings from me. I think because the content for the storyline is so real, it is about things that have happened in real life and because if this I think it is easier for you to imagine what it must be like for the characters in those moments. I can’t say that I cried a lot during the book but it definitely made me emotional whilst reading it. I felt a real co

This is one emotional rollercoaster ride with so much heartache and hope it really pulls those heartstrings. The Light at Dawn is a beautiful story by K. L. Montgomery. The story is about the love story of Angelia and Mark. It is a gripping and tragic tale that morphs into a beautiful love story. At times, oh so heartbreaking to read, I felt my heart grow bigger and bigger at the end of each chapter.

Angelia and Mark suffer unimaginable tragedy. The author tells it from different perspectives, and while it doesn't seem possible for it to ever work, somehow the elegant and soulful way this author delive

The reason why I read so much is because I love the feelings that I experience while doing so. I love chasing that emotion that will set me over the edge.

Let me just tell you that The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery did JUST THAT. I went in completely and utterly blind. I didn't know what to expect. And I was not ready for what this book would do to me as an individual, reader, or even woman. It took me a minute to have to gather all of emotions (which were scattered everywhere) and bottle the

This is a story ripped from the headlines. Tragedy, shock and disbelief are what encompasses these characters. Figuring out how to move forward Is their new focus. This story enthralled me. The characters were a breath of fresh air and seemed very real. We are introduced to two families. They each get their own turn to tell their story. But The third section of the story is what I enjoyed the most. There is stress and sadness and a few OMGosh mome

This story here. . . . right here? This is a mind-blowing emotional read for so many reasons oh and let's not talk about the controversial subject matter. I first do want to say one of the many things I enjoyed about this read is the ability to see the more intimate scenes using my own imagination. Instead of reading about people doing things I could only fantasize about I had a visual that was only wishful thinking instead of something that would never be attained. I know, but what can I say. Lost in grief she decides to tell Evans story at a conference on school shootings. Whilst on a conference, she meets Mark, a single father who has also lost somebody. Can two broken hearts become one and heal together?

The Light at Dawn by K. L. Montgomery is an emotional, heart wrenching story, that follows two parents that have lost their children due to suicide. The book explores darker themes, discussing sensitive material that may be upsetting to certain readers. But the book does a beautiful job of handling such a sensitive issue with utmost care and support. Montgomery does a masterful job of weaving two stories into one, with evocative writing that will not only have you crying like a baby, but leave y ...more

The tears are flowing....and they did pretty much the whole time I read this story. It is not an easy story to read...not even close. It tackles some really important and life changing situations and hot button issues in many families' lives and in our country as a whole and KL does it with panache. She doesn't just throw us in the midst of tragedy but she makes you feel what these families and their friends are feeling (thus the darned tears). Thankfully this review is being written on a laptop and not paper, because after reading this story last week my tears are just now stopping enough to type. My heart is heavy with sadness. But my heart also has room for hope. This story hits close to home, as I have school aged children as well as a gun in our home. Of course, it is safely put away from these teen-aged children. This story really touches on a few different, hard to talk about situations. Situations we see in the real world. The ...more

The Light at Dawn is novel by K. L. Montgomery. This is my first novel by this author.

After a tragedy, Angelia is still trying to pick up the pieces of her life five years later. To cope, Angelia joins an organization.

Mark Lyon is also trying to find a way to keep moving after losing his daughter Ashleigh.

When the two meet, maybe it’s a time for them both to start to heal instead of only existing.

This was a really emotional book to read. I enjoyed it but it was hard to read. I imagine it would
