It’s hardly a fair race when you’re racing against time.
The Fangs and I have the answers we were looking for, but for me those answers come with a death sentence. But I’ll be damned if I got out easy. I’ll be damned if I go out before I can see our mission through.
Just as I’m coming to terms with my fate, hope drops into my lap like a succulent fruit. But hope can be deceptive, and I’m not one for putting all my eggs into one basket. The mission must remain my focus, but with obstacles stacking up, getting to the finish line may just take some divine intervention, but the cost…The cost might be more than I’m willing to pay.
Debbie Cassidy lives in England, Bedfordshire, with her three kids and very supportive husband. Coffee and chocolate biscuits are her writing fuels of choice, and she is still working on getting that perfect tower of solitude built in her back garden. Obsessed with building new worlds and reading about them, she spends her spare time daydreaming and conversing with the characters in her head – in a totally non psychotic way of course. She writes Urban Fantasy, Fantasy and Reverse Harem Fantasy. All her books contain plenty of action, romance and twisty plots.
4.5 stars This series is a sprint and not a marathon
I thought I knew where this was going...Eh nope I really didn't
I was just mildly enjoying this race to the finish line then bam the game changed! And it really stepped it up!
Eva has always been a little badass but the Eva we see here is like a Mutant X Deadpool of abilities and she's getting stronger as well as weaker. Shes on a countdown to the end and the urgency really comes across. The whole series had a fast forward 100 miles an hour feel
[image error]
which I'm not saying is a bad thing. At least we didn't have things dragged out over way to many chapters. But some more detail, longer books and would have made the experience more enjoyable. It was really short and intense. I got very emotional at a few moments
So forgot all your preconceived notions, I couldn't predict what was going to happen. And we had a little crossover into one of Debbies other world which had me geeking out a little!
Some things I would take away but also some things expanded (namely a particular dream that I would like re-written with 10 extra pages please) I am appeased by the promise of a novella to come which when you read the end I hope you'll agree is needed! We need more of these guys and Eva.
Well i did not get into this one bit. I'm lost at what i just read. this was so different from the first two. It was almost like book 1 and 2 builds one world, one set of relationships then this book was like nah. Lets throw some sparkles and mix things up. it was bam bam bam with everything and you got whip lash trying to keep up.
Tsk. Tsk. The way the author did this was downright infuriating. I was heavily convinced for most of this book that Jace and Noah were a waste of character space. And let’s be honest: We all knew what was going to happen to Tobias And Noah’s declaration damn near broke my heart. I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU HUN What we got was a mix of love stories within the harem. (It wasn’t actually seven men but the potential was there) She is still learning to love Elias. Jace made his intentions known like, way late.
CAN WE NOT HAVE A FLUID, SOLID, harem family?? I mean c’mon authors don’t y’all see what we crave? CONNECTION, and orgies. Jk, I actually don’t like group orgies in RH when it’s a lot of dudes. Things get very confusing if it’s not written well. It’s like trying to maneuver a round-about with 3 lanes.
WHO DOES THAT ANYWAY?
Moving on. I loved this series, I did. The levels of complication within the harem were an annoying but nice touch. The plot was good. Kinda loved the The Walking Dead vibes. I saw no Vamp Diaries references?
What book 3 lacked was a bit of emotion with what happened with Tobias. As well as the face off with Malcolm.
It did feel rushed and poorly executed.
But alas, here we are with a novella being released. Will I read it? Yes, I’m curious. Jace didn’t get any hanky panky time with Eva in this series so I assume that’s one of the main reasons for the novella. Oh and The Hunt sounds interesting. Including Caister but I think I’m reading too much into that.
Or who knows, maybe she truly does have great hair. Being a god and all. Whatever. I guess a good blow out really does help a lady out.
So long Eva with the good hair and your men. Maybe try to love Elias? Idk, he seems super hot. Silver hair and all.
This entire series probably could have been rolled into one (longer) book. When I started: Blammo! I was hooked. There was an exciting premise, instant-action, and we were inside Eva's head (feeling all her feelings) as she navigated escaping Ferals and Claws and generally just tried to survive. This is where Debbie Cassidy excels as a writer. In all of her books, she is an efficient writer who gives just enough information to get us into the action or dialogue but not too much that it bogs us down. However (and isn't there always one of those?), I felt this efficiency failed the plot toward the latter book. We moved through twist after twist, turn after turn, at such a fast pace that it really did the plot a disservice. Similarly, Eva's relationships went from distrustful to reluctant attraction to mate-status/love within a week. I could kinda-sorta forgive it, extrapolating that in an intense "run for your lives" type setting, every day was sort of a #YOLO mentality. But it became pretty unbelievable (even within this dystopian-fantasy reverse-harem story) as the story went on and Eva collected mates like Pokemon cards.
That being said, if you just breeze through the books, they are pretty enjoyable and hot. I wouldn't put too much thought into the mechanics of the plot (see above) or the love stories. Just relax, grab yourself a glass of (insert preferred beverage), and let yourself be taken away by DC's world building.
Well first thing I’ll say is is this book had a shit ending. Not only that but almost the whole book was rushed and forced, times like sex the only parts truly expanded on. But wtf was that ending.... all this to save Tobias and then she ends up having to kill him, are you kidding me?!? Plus bam she’s dead after imploding, reincarnated as a God and will have to give up all her guys and go live in the Fae realm. I’m really disappointed by the abrupt end and how quick everything was wrapped up. Last minute Jace becomes one of her guys and yet Noah will stay behind, umm ok?! She’s ready to leave them all as her ‘Power’ as the Hunt will inevitably overtake all her emotion but at the last minute they tell her they’re tagging along and suddenly she believes they can work through it 🤦🏽♀️🤷🏼♀️🤦🏽♀️🤷🏼♀️🤦🏽♀️ What about Benji? What about Jamie? Hell what about the world now that the cure has been dispersed? Most of her relationships between her and the guys are only mildly developed. I know there’s another short novella after this but as the last book in the series I’m totally letdown.

This was a really good ending to a very enjoyable RH series. For the Reign will go where you won't expect it and keep you on your toes until the very end. The author said there would be a novella with these characters coming out in summer 2019 so I'm really excited to read it especially because I'm so curious as to what will happen to them .
If you haven't started this series yet and you're a fan of RH books, then this one might be for you. I recommend giving it a try :).
A great little series. Eva is much more than she appears when introduced in the first book. The guys are all unique and complement her life. The worst part of this series is that it is so short.
4.5. Fantastic ending to the series and Eva kicks some serious ass here!
Debbie Cassidy is the Queen of Urban Fantasy Reverse Harem, as far as I'm concerned and I love the complexity and depth of the worlds she creates and how they are all interlinked across her different series'. It boggles my mind, quite frankly!!!
She writes brilliantly strong and likeable female leads, with diverse and interesting males, and Eva and her guys are no different.
I don't want to give away spoilers, but this is a brilliant final installment, with non-stop actions and some real twists and turns you do not expect. I also loved how it all resolved.
If you haven't started this series yet, go back to the beginning and you won't be disappointed. Then go read all.l if her other books!
that did not go down how i imagined it would go, so much happened in the last two chapters.... it was we are going on an adventure la la la la la" BAM! MC dies and is reborn immortal and everything changes.. the dynamic changes, the harem is expanded and altered, tobias dies at the MC hands. then off to fairie land for like EVER.... and we all have to just be ok with that until the novella...
i just don't know how i feel, i would have liked this to be different.. it just didn't tick the boxes for me.

I don’t know why, but I skimmed through a lot of this 3rd and final book. I keep jumping from 3 stars to 4 and I’d give this one 3.5 stars if I could, because it was way easy for me to put it down and walk away. All the action and suspense from book one wasn’t as exciting in this one for me. It’s like all the awesome fighting scenes were replaced with tons of sex with different dudes that at times felt a little like cheating... I’m all about a good RH story but this went from slow burn to burn out for me real fast and my emotions just weren’t in it anymore.
I'm so disappointed in this series, I came in expecting big things and yet I was let down time and time again. It was just so messy, and not well thought out. It was just written badly. It felt as though the author had so many ideas and just decided to ram them all in. It just felt very one dimensional. This really did have a lot of potential but it just fell flat. rip.
Once again this author has written a story that has completely surprised me. Where she took heroine Eva in this third book of the series was a total shock to me - I’m truly impressed by her imagination. As with the previous books in this series, For the Reign has tons of action, an increase in steam, and an ever increasing mythology. The story remains fast-paced with lots of elements jam-packed in. I usually would prefer slower paced, extra-detailed books, but this author hits a sweet spot of just enough detail, clean writing, and interesting story - allowing for a breezy read without a heavy time commitment. This book closes the story arc, but I was happy to see a novella planned down the line that will allow us to see what their new life looks like.
For the Reign... what can I say. This is to date my favorite series by Debbie and I’m absolutely in love with Ash. Who knew a character with exactly 0 lines lines could essentially steal the show. The action and build in this story was fantastic, I think I finished in a couple hours, just couldn’t put it down ❤️
Fantastic read. This is truely brilliant. I have loved this series. the character's are brilliant. The story line captivating. It holds your attention through out.
I thought i knew what was going to happen and boy was there some surprises.
Ohh Tobias... poor Tobias. My heart goes out to him completely. The scene towards the end.! Heart wrenching.
I loved all the guys. The RH side of the book was awesome.
My favourite guy has to be Ash.... but maybe also Sage!
I felt the ending was totally rushed. Debbie could have kept on going with this storyline, and had at least another few book's from it. And we as her readers would have lapped it up like dehydrated and starved ferral... But even tho it felt rushed and we would have loved a whole lot more, it was still totally awesome.
I love that there is a Novella so that we can see Eva in her new role and have maybe have closure to this brilliant world.
I do have one no maybe two quibbles about the books right from book 1. We should have had a bit more from each of the guys. I would love to have seen things from their p.o.v. Also Eva should have learnt a tiny bit of sign language through out the story. It would have made the communication between her and Ash more intimate.
Being the one with the ultimate resposibility sucks. Nothing can be more difficult. Yet Eva copes well, fighting all the blows she gets from life and the secrets coming to the surface, proving her life was one big "happy" bubble. With the support and love of her men, she could overcome everything - even the deadly transformation of herself. Anyhow, losses are unavoidable... Action packed, fast developing and highly intense story interwoven with steamy scenes and wide range of deep, raw emotions makes a great conclusion to this dystopian fantasy series. Even the finale is believable and realistic, because with the whole setup, one could not simply expect a happy end. Sacrifices needed to be made, and in certain aspects really heavy ones. What was once lost won't be forgotten, but won't come back either. So you'd rather pick the book yourself and see what waits for Eva now..
This one takes a weird plot turn from dystopian/sci-fi romance to fantasy romance. I still enjoyed it, and the idea of Faerie is cool, but also not what I signed up for when I picked up this series. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to read the novella (book 4).
I feel like Cassidy should have blended the story line better. I felt like I was reading to different books. I was disappointed that things were rushed and felt unfinished. We will see if the novella will answer all these questions I have floating around.
The ending of this book has me wondering how they will come out of this because I truly believe they will. I’m just wondering if Eva will be adding to her harem at all. There’s a few men I’m interested in seeing if they become something more or not. I hope so.
Ooooooof. OOOOOF. Dear god. That was a very bitter sweet ending.
Overall I really enjoyed this series. It had a very similar plot to Debbie Cassidy's other Protectors of Midnight series but I think this one was executed better. Things weren't drawn out, it was very concise, and I felt as though I was more emotionally attached to these characters.
What do I do in my spare time? Read Debbie Cassidy books. I am hooked! Just finished the For the Blood Series. Holy hotness! Everything a series should have was all there. Kickass heroine, hot love interests, slow burn RH, action and adventure, suspense, and a well developed story arc and world building. This is now my second series in a matter of days by this author. I can't wait to dive into another!
Tobias does, what the actual F?! I am not in it for love interests to die, noping right out. There was no reason for him to die. Make her bargain with the face to become the hunt only if she keeps her guys, or just keep him alive and he’ll be her mortal anchor, idk. SOMETHING, but I am still upset about Tobias months later.

The trilogy is a 2.9 stars for me. I wish I could give it that.
I didn't enjoy the third book as much as the first, but I didn't hate it. I simply disliked the direction it took and how mundane the plotline and RH seemed. I didn't quite connected to any of the characters in the book, especially, the guys. Even Ash that seems to be everyone's favourite was not it for me. It lacked time to develop in every aspect. It should've been bigger, longer and more detailed. I have a lot of questions about the world functioning, about how they found the entrance to Fae and no one else did before them and etc. There are a lot of plotholes, tons of them and no one was even going to do anything about them.
RH is a whole other beast.
It's not a fast burn which is a plus but the minus is from book one to book three their relationships grew from 0 to 4 out of 10. To say they are underdeveloped is to say nothing. They are completely new, some haven't even began yet and we are past Epilogue. And together with a not so exciting plotline it is almost a recipe for disaster.
Tobias: that is the only part that made me emotional about the book. I hate that there wasn't a lot of mentions about him throughout the books and that after what happened we do not have any kind of closure. She is the death, right? Just bring on the angst. So much missed opportunity. It's like no one cared about him as a character. Total waste.
Ash: I expected more from him from all the comments I read while starting the book. He ended up far from my expectations, but I am not mad about it. Can't say I created a bond with him, definitely not but he is one of the characters that have been somehow developed and brought in the heat.
Sage: I loved Sage, he is, probably, my favourite one out of the guys. I liked how he made changes happen in Eva, the questions he asked, the things he was aware of. I even thought we will have our hands full with Sage and his open demeanor. But he, eventually, has been lost in the background.
Logan: He was intriguing at the beginning, I like the tag game of hate/love scenarios. I thought that he is a guy with a tough exterior that turns into a marshmallow after he is yours...not really. You know why? We did not see enough of their relationship! The book ended!
Jace: Should I even talk about him? There was nothing. There was a kiss and tears about how we won't have future together. That's it. Nothing even led to them being in love. Maybe he did start having thoughts about her (we didn't see that) but not Eva. I don't remember her once thinking about Jace. And then she becomes 'god' and feels his feelings??? Okaay.
Elias: I did like him. If there was more to the trilogy, I would definitely connect with him but alas we have limited time in his presence. Very limited. How he ends up in her Harem? Mates obviously. Huh. So easy.
Noah: Erm...ugh...mhh... Well. Khm. They had a sleepover, I guess.
All in all I don't regret reading the book. The story was fast, sometimes too fast which created plotholes that were never patched up but somehow it still captured my attention, maybe it was a good writing and a MC that could say NO and mean it. The guys weren't anything new or exciting, the heatmeter didn't detect much of heat but they were different and not every author can manage 7 RH members to be different. This book needed time and length, more angst, more side characters and locations. And closure. (I know there is novella, but judging from the comments it's not good and definitely doesn't have anything to do with closure)
Urg the last book in this part of the story arc was very disappointing. All of a sudden the OP MC get even more OP (becoming a Goddess) and several of the love interests were just tossed away and forgotten. Unfortunately, I didn't like this series enough to care what the MC will do in the next arc. The romance in the book was lacking. Overall, I enjoyed the concept just not the execution. Either make the book longer with more details or cut out some characters and condense down the story a bit.
Below is a summary so I can keep track of what is going on in the series. Do not read below if you don't want any spoilers.
MC is dying. Drama among the guys as some are jealous or some don't want the MC to have a relationship with them. The evil Vladul created living weapons that take out the Claw pack and the Djinn Settlements. The lead living weapon is Tobias. The made 2 vials of the cure. One they used to save Noah when they went back to see him. Find out Noah looks like Malcolm so they plan to use him as a decoy to get into the Vladul compound. MC and Sage go to fey for an army since Claws and Djinn are dead. Fey lands are also cursed. After some drama MC summons an OP army 'The Hunt'. When the MC and Sage make it back the MC dies. She makes a deal and is reborn as the lead fey creature to 'The Hunt'. She will eventually stop caring about everything but hunting and refuses to let the guys know what deal she made. MC looks completely different too. They make their way into the Vladul compound easily killing the bad guys. Tobias fights the strings controlling him, but just dies in the end. (And no one seems to care). HEA for the people of the world because they spread a cure to the virus by air thanks to the fact they control the Vladul facility now. The Hunt calls the MC and they guys are her tethers to her humanity. Guys decide to go with her into the fey lands... and I no longer care. I really wished this series had more romance and a bit less fighting scenes.
Eva- Died and came back to life as a fey Goddess -She was part human, fey, vampire, werewolf, and djinn. Oh and all the bloodlines were that of royal blood too. (She is so OP) -Is show her lover for Sage, Tobias, Ash, Logan, and Elias. -She showed interest in Noah and Jace, but they were just quickly forgotten. Tobias was also quickly forgotten when he died.
Sage- Lost his body (And they just shrug off the fact his human host died!) -Fey land allow him to take his physical form. -Almost dies. He eventually takes another body.
Elias- Figures out when MC is reborn that there is a catch. -Shares emotions with MC
Tobias- Become Weapon 'Alpha X' -Kills a whole bunch of innocent people. -In the end lamely dies after all this build up to save him. Then is quickly forgotten.
Ash- MC main lover and protector. (I love him. He is the best love interest in the book)
Logan- Logan continues to be an asshole, but MC is into it and they start a relationship.
Jace- Hinted that he has feelings for the MC but there is very little relationship building and the MC basically ignores him except for small part of the book. Also he doesn't offer much personality wise. Honestly the author could have cut him out as a character.
Noah-I only added Noah to this list because I thought he was a love interest... I am still not sure since it's kind of hot and cold between him and the MC. Sometimes I think he is going to be a secondary character, but then the MC comments on her attraction to him. So I am kind of confused.
Are you crying? I'm not. my eyes are just...sweaty...
Oh my God.
I have no words.
This book has me in actual tears. Like WHAT! This can't be it. Im shaking.
This entire series is beyond words. Honestly. I can't believe I've been missing this. And now it's over. And now I envy you for being able to read this book with fresh eyes. I wish I could just erase my memories of this book so I could read it again.
FAVORITE QUOTE “I know.” I came to stand before him and stared into his eyes for the last time, and then I slit his throat.
CAN WE APPRECIATE THE ART IN THIS SINGLE SENTENCE. LIKE !
I don't understand how this book isn't as popular as the ghost bird series considering it's 10x better (and I'd fight someone on that)
Ok, I do have ONE teensy tiny issue. It wasn't very obvious to me until I started reading the other reviews but the ending was rushed. I noticed it was a little fast paced and the entire time throughout the book(s) Malcolm was set up to be the big bad guy sort of like in a game after you've finished all the levels and finally get to defeat the final Boss. She killed him and Tobias *tear* within moments of each other and nothing was really detailed. I was anticipating this big moment and this epic battle scene then nothing. Its like I was on a rollercoaster vertical to the ground, slowly, anxiously climbing up and up until finally you get to the very top, and it all stands still for a moment, and you close your eyes and then BOOM! You drop 2 feet and the rides over. Like I said, it didn't really bother me all that much but this is a review and I had to say all the good and all the ugly.
Ok enough fangirling. Just one question for whoever is bored enough or is crying cuz they just finished the series too.
Did Noah go with them?! {iykyk} His last line was pretty ambiguous and I'm unsure if he stayed or left to Faerie.
Honestly, this is my least favorite book in this series.
Since there is so much happening in the book, it focused on a bunch of small details while bigger plots and scenarios were ignored or minimal. Yes, it is a short book, so they had to work with what they could. I think that it could have been four books, though.
First book: she tries to get to the location her father told her of. While traveling to this location she meets a few bumps that produce a bigger picture of the entire situation. Second book: she travels to the new location that she learned about at the end of the first book with her new companion. As she is making her way there, she meets new people and learns that she too is changing. At the end, she learns that she is the cure (shocking). Third book: her and her companions mass produce the cure and start gathering troops to help fight back against the main villain in the series. Basically, this is her gathering information on the main base of operations while distributing a cure and gathering troops. She adds some inside individuals to her cause while losing some because they were actually traitors. Fourth book: infiltration with some hiccups and saving. She defeats the big bad with her harem of men and her army of cured individuals. There is no curve ball or fae. Also, she adds someone to her harem and they all live happily ever after in a cured world that is rebuilding itself from the virus.
At least, that is how I would have liked it, but that is not what I got because I a, not the author of “For the Blood.” Also, my version is more stereotypical, so the way this series went did feel different. I can admit that.... I just don’t like fae. When the fae were introduced, I had to just plow through the rest of the book; otherwise, I knew I would never pick it back up because I don’t like fae.
3 1/2 stars. Eva and her allies are desperately searching for allies to take on the stronghold of the enemy and distribute the cure. But the enemy has a new weapon Alpha X who threatens to destroy all non-Vlaldul and Eva will have to search for a new ally to help save the world before Eva's (and the world's) time runs out.
You feel the clock ticking in this one. Lots of action and some big twists that I did not see coming. This is not a fuzzy world where everyone survives. The bad guys are bad; people die. My one big complaint is that I didn't think Eva showed enough --or really any--emotion about one loss. She held things together all along, putting survival before an emotional break down but she is finally at the end. I don't buy she wouldn't have been gravely affected by this loss even with everything going on.
It was a fun, action-packed, race to the finish series that I gobbled up in one sitting. There were some big twists that surprised me but didn't come out of left field. It is worth the read.
Ok so I loved this series in general but the last half of this book was so unsatisfying! First off it's always been a pet peeve of mine if an author kills a considered "good" character in the last chapters. It adds nothing to the story and I'll die on that hill!
In fact I've been known to hold grudges against series that do this and this won't be an exception.
I said this in my review for the first book and I'll reiterate it here, I don't get how this is labeled a romance novel. Yes there is romance, but half of her "harem" is left out of most of the series. (Jace and Noah deserve better!). But also there isn't really a HEA (and yeah I want those unrealistic HEA's, these novels are my escape for a reason). It's left open ended so that it might and might not. I understand the novella might clear that up, but after being so disappointed with how the series ended I'm not sure I even want to see when she finishes things off.
I'm still giving it a high rating because the story is bomb, but i refuse to categorize it as a romance. Romantic elements sure.

Wow, This is a spectacular ending to a wonderful set of books!! Once again Debbie has pulled a fabulous series out of the bag, this girl just keeps getting better and better. This is Urban Fantasy with a medium burn Reverse Harem set in a post apocolyptic world. There are twist and turns that you just don't expect and this book is full of surprises, full of action with a stunning kick ass female lead and diverse men who all bring something different to the book but with one aim in mind trying to keep Eva alive. Sometimes when you get to the end of a book you feel flat, cheated as the ending just isn't what you expected but I feel that this book had the perfect ending for this storey. Just a fab set of books that will have you hooked from the beginning and definitely worth a binge read if you haven't read any of the set at all.
I had mixed feelings starting For the Reign. I really enjoy this series and really was not ready for the ending, that being said. It was so good. I am a huge fan of Debbie, and really I have just loved every single series she has written. She has such a way with words. Building characters and their worlds, that the reader becomes invested in. How can an author just keep getting better and better when you love their work to begin with? In For the Reign, we have your usual non stop action, drama, suspense, conflicts, twists and turns, and romance. And the romance really heats up in this last one. Eva is a bad a@@ main character that I loved from book one. And you know what, she just gets better. I do not want to give anything away, just that this is really a great read that I wish wasn't the last. Who knows maybe we can get a follow up novella in the future maybe???!!! Please!!!!
